Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Your ancestors called it magic, but you call it science. Thor was hideously bored when he stayed in Midgard, and he was even more restless when was in Asgard. Mostly this was because Selvig, Darcy, and Jane were busy due to their growing research. It was a time of peace, but it was also the beginnings of a new diplomatic relationship between the realms of Earth and Asgard. The collision of the universes left unknowns open for both realms, and neither Odin nor Fury wanted to take any chances. That left Thor to look after Earth while he searched for his brother, but up until then Loki had remained in the shadows. Sometimes the trickster would resurface, but never in time for Thor to exchange words with him.
At first, he was a guest in Selvig's home, but waiting to be summoned by Fury or waiting for Jane to return (He would have worked in the lab with her, but she couldn't focus as well when Thor was around for too long) was brutal for the Asgardian warrior. He was not bred to sit still like this, and so someone in SHIELD (likely Fury, probably sensing the God's restlessness) had arranged for one of SHIELD's best to be his diplomat and host while he was on Earth. Thor had met her briefly before, a blonde woman by the name of Danii Washington, but most had known her the Lady of Liberty. In their short exchange she had offered him a wink and had instructed him they were going on 'an All-American' road trip, but he knew not what such a journey entailed.
He was to meet her at what he understood to be a monument to her greatness. He surmised she must have been a fierce warrior to have such a grand statue built in her likeness erected for all the city to see. Thor was honored to be guided by such a well-esteemed Midgardian.
The Asgardian prince awaited on the steps of the Information center, unsure how to proceed until he greeted his diplomat. He was dressed in clothes Darcy and Jane both agreed would suit him (in fact, the idea of dressing him and taking him to the mall pleased them greatly, and he was only happy to oblige them as he saw it sent many of their smiles his way), along with a bag of the robes they'd purchased for the trip. He looked up to gaze at the crown of the statue, glad that she had not been destroyed during the Invasion of New York.
The statue bore little likeness to Lady Washington in his opinion.

[style=padding: 0px 10px;]Danii didn't mind playing diplomat to the large Asgardian, even though he was loud and generally clueless about most things, but that's kind of what was so much fun about him. And honestly, the first time they had met she found the man utterly fascinating, so maybe she could teach him how to interact with the normal every day Earthling, or Midgardian as he called them all, and maybe she would be able to learn things about Asgard. Because Danii really was curious about him and the culture, especially since it seemed that so much of Earth's Norse mythology had come from them. After mulling over different scenarios and ideas in her head for a while, Danii had decided that the best way to get acclimated to the natives of any place was to immerse yourself in the culture. And what better way to do that then with an all American road trip? She hadn't taken one since she was a teenager. Of course she had to get Fury to sign off on it first, and give her what essentially amounted to a limitless spending card, because she had seen Thor eat, and it was almost awe inspiring in how much of a bottomless pit the demi-god really was. Card in hand, their first stop was the Statue of Liberty, fitting since they were staring in New York. Traffic was congested so she had to take the next ferry to Liberty Island, and by the time the blonde had gotten there, Thor was already there staring up at the statue, "Hey Thor! Sorry, traffic was terrible on the way here," She gave him a smile and a pat on the shoulder as she greeted him, looking up at the Lady that managed to stand through just about everything. "She's really pretty isn't she? I got my name from her, Liberty Enlightening the World," Danii puffed up in pride, "In eighteen eighty six the French gave her to America to celebrate a hundred years since America declared it's independence from England," Danii smiled, leading him into the statue so they could walk up to the crown, only stopping to point out the plaque at the base inside, "Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" Danii could recite that by heart. Stepping into the crown, she took a moment just to enjoy the view, "As long as she's been standing here, the statue has been a beacon, welcomin' people to a new and hopefully better life in America, one with freedom and liberty to be had by all," The view really was amazing, "Check it out, we can see Stark tower from here," Danii pointed out the garish building, "And over there is The Empire State building, when it was built, it was the tallest building in the whole world," She pointed out another building, "That's the One World Trade, there used to be twin buildings there but....." Danii trailed off, just staring into that empty space where they used to be, "Anyway, our tour of America starts here! Whenever your ready, we'll go get some hotdogs, take the ferry back and start on our drive to our next top, which will probably be Pennsylvania," This was going to be great. "Fret not, Lady of Liberty! I was here admiring the monument. Only the elite warriors in Asgard earn themselves a statue as great as this. Stark may have his tower, but this is truly great." he smiled, and returned the pat on his shoulder as was a warrior's greeting. He listened to her recount the history behind the monument, surprised to learn that she was not in fact, THE Lady of Liberty, but a likely descendant. Still, Danii Washington boasted a proud heritage.
"We should have such creeds in Asgard." he said, admiring the plaque's words that she had just recited for him. Many beings thought Midgard so primitive, but in many ways the people of Earth were more advanced than they were. Loki saw the mortals as ants, but Thor knew better.
Thor followed her inside, in awe of the building as they made their way to the crown of the statue. Thor had seen the New York City skyline before (he could fly after all), but never quite like this. Here was a clear definition between heaven and earth, the buildings ever-reaching upwards towards the vast sky above. During the day, heaven and earth were two separate entities, but when the sun set in the west, and darkness fell upon the city, there was an artificial sky of stars through the blinking lights of the building, ever growing and changing, much like its people.
Thor waved at Stark Tower, as though Tony were standing at the balcony somehow to wave back, and grinned brightly with the equivalent enthusiasm of a child. "..But?" yet then he caught that reverent tone in her voice and inquired no further. Thor let that silence spread respectfully. Battlegrounds and loss were common in all worlds, but common as they were, they were to be held in such a manner, never to be forgotten. Thor stared at that break in the skyline, the emptiness in that area very felt and present, as though the space itself were a monument to its passing, but never to weathered by time, even once the healing had set long before.
When Danii finished, he turned to her. "So she is your ancestor then. You carry with you a proud ancestry, Lady Washington." he nodded respectfully. "I thank you on behalf of Asgard and myself for this opportunity. Let the light of this new day illuminate a new trust between our realms, and may the flames of Her Lady's torch never extinguish even long after all of this has passed. These ideals of freedom and liberty... To be had by one and all.." he repeated after her, "There is much to be learned from your realm. For this, I thank you."
Thor's brow arched at the word hotdog. "Hot...dog... Would those be large enough to ride?"

"Words to live by if I ever heard any, too bad sometimes people forget that's what this country was originally built on, freedom from oppression and a chance for a better life for everyone, no matter who or what they look like or are," So long as they meant well, as long as they wanted a better life Danii didn't think any person could be a problem, even beings from different dimensions. If they were peaceful and not trying to level cities or bring invading armies, and for the love of God how were those too related at all? They couldn't be any more opposite from each other. Danii had to bite back a little chuckle at his words, not bothering to correct him at this point because she was sure he would continue thinking what he wanted. There were a few little things here and there that she had begun to notice on Earth that just seemed too much alike to the things he had grown up with in Asgard to really argue a clear different between them. But she did smile at his words, a big genuine smile that caused her eyes to twinkle though no one would see it as her eyes were hidden behind the sunglasses, "I couldn't have said it better myself, glad ya understand though," Sure America had it problems, people in general just seemed so mean every now and then, but the blonde believed in the ideals and she believed in humanity as a whole. It was why she was so proud of her country, took her job so seriously. "What? No," The woman laughed, but now she had to picture the big man riding in the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile, Danii would never forgive herself if she didn't get a picture of that during this trip, "It's food actually," A bunch of meat stuff shoved together really, but he didn't need to know that, instead she lead him back down the stairs and out onto the lawns of the little island, walking up to the nearest hotdog vendor and getting two New York style dogs with ketchup and relish, handing Thor one and taking a bite out of hers as she shoved some cash at the vendor and started walking towards the ferries to get a ride back to the mainland, "These are hotdogs, they're the best thing ever when you get them made right," New York style of course, cause Chicago dogs sucked, "This is gonna be a great trip, gonna get to try all different kinds of foods and stuff,"A quick trip back and Danii was just about skipping to her car, ready to get the show on the road, "Hurry up or I'm leavin' ya here," She tossed a joke at the other blonde, sliding into her car and waiting for him to get in before starting the engine, smiling at the deep purr of the old American muscle. Getting out of New York was a pain, and Danii fiddled with the radio while they were stuck in traffic, but getting on I-91 they were making good time down to Pennsylvania, "Wait till you see the Amish, it's like blast from the past cause they never picked up modern technology," [style=padding: 0px 10px; font-size: smaller;] Tag: Thor! Thor watched Danii barter with the hotdog merchant, quite fond of the scent of roasting meats emanating from his cart. He gratefully took his hotdog, taking note of the way the other Midgardians were holding and eating it before he himself took a bite. "Before I left I was told by my great friend Volstagg to enjoy the delicacies of Midgard on his behalf." he laughed, recalling the memory of his stalwart but merry companion. "Why this is delicious! I thank you, Lady Washington, and you as well hotdog merchant for this fine sample of your realm's delicacies." At first glance, Thor's words could have been taken as sarcasm, but his sincere grin had earned him two more complimentary hotdogs, which lifted Thor's spirits even higher. "I will tell stories of this day. Songs will be sung in the great hall of this feast. Your service has been exemplary."
"Lady is he for real?" the man packed away Thor's free food into a bag. He was never used to people in this city, much less anywhere, showing such appreciation for his food. As odd as this larger man was, to the vendor so used to New York City courtesy, it was a welcome change. Thor had no idea he had developed such a reaction in the man, for showing open appreciation for gifts, even everyday ones, was common to the Asgardian culture. "You tell your friends, alright?" and the man actually smiled, which was saying a lot since his baseball team lost miserably the day before and he grew up in a city where such affections among strangers raised more questions than friendships. Thor enjoyed three whole hotdogs on the trip back from the ferry to Danii's car, taking in every unique taste. "Besides your New Mexico and this great city, the land of the Amish will be my first sights of your world. I look forward to visiting your country, built upon the diversity of your people. From what Selvig and Jane have told me, not one corner of your realm is identical to the other," besides the place Darcy had called 'Suburbia,' but Thor was sure they would not visiting those lands.
Thor sat down in the passenger seat, glad that the seat was set low enough that his head did not entirely scrape the roof of the car. A song came on Danii's radio he was familiar with. "This music! I know of them! I listen to the music of Sting and his Police with Jane." he grinned, glad to find more and more aspects of earth he was growing increasingly familiar with. "Your city's defenders are very great performers." he nodded happily, bobbing his head to The Police's Message in a Bottle. Thor was no stranger to warrior's singing, after all, they sang of their conquests in the Great Hall all of the time. Although, he agreed quite heartily that some warriors should not sing- Tony Stark in particular. "After their sea voyage, did the Police ever receive a reply to their message?"

Danii had to laugh a little, after all a hotdog was as far from what most people would consider a delicacy as some people could possibly think of getting. Especially from a small time, stern looking street vendor that had probably never changed the water the dogs were boiled in since the day he first got the cart. She was a bit afraid though that the older man would take Thor's words the wrong way, after all he was talking about a freakin' hotdog of all foods, but he just seemed so sincerely happy with the food, and that look of enjoyment was so damn genuine that you couldn't mistake it for sarcasm even if you tried. "Ah he's not from around here. Europeans, they're a bit odd ya know," The blonde said with a mildly wary smile, waving a hand as if to dispel the curiosity. Her answer seemed to be satisfactory though as the gruff looking man dropped the curious look he was giving her over her companion and Danii filed the excuse away for later, sure that she was going to have to use it again on this trip, "Trust me, he will," She gave the vendor a smile as she shooed Thor onto the ferry, positive that he really would be singing songs about the vendor later, if that man only knew. Finally getting to her car, Danii was still wondering if Thor actually chewed his food when he ate, or just shoved the hotdogs bun and all down whole when she shook the questions away, "America, ah there isn't any other place like it, anywhere," Her chest puffed out with a measure of pride, "They were right, as a melting pot for the world we've got a little bit of everything in this country with our own special American something mixed in, we could hit every last state and never be bored," If only they had that sort of time though. She had to laugh at that, his enthusiasm for just about everything was positively infectious, drumming on the worn steering wheel of her car the blonde sang along with the song, her dad had weened her on what would now be considered classic rock and Yankee games after all, "Yeah, I think they did," Danii said with a smile, casting Thor a glance before turning her attention back to the road, content to listen to the radio and feel the wind in her hair as they drove down I 95, making it into Lancaster, Pennsylvania with a good half a day to burn. Finding a place to park Danii ushered Thor out of the car and looked around at the picturesque town, "Welcome to Lancaster, also known as Amish Country, a few of the buildings and houses here are some of the oldest in the country," Looking around she saw a line for a horse and buggy tour, "Come on, lets take a buggy tour," And with that she was unceremoniously pulling Thor towards the carriage, wondering if he would even fit, not that the old lady that was giving him the eye would probably mind if they ended up squished together on a seat in the little buggy. Paying the fair Danii slipped in and tried to leave enough room for Thor to sit as well, "So the Amish live the way Americans used to before science and electricity was introduced into society for the most part, as part of their religion thus the horse and buggy instead of a car," She explained as they all crowded in before the tour started, the horses taking off at an easy pace.
