Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Tonight was a once in a blue moon opportunity. Lian was sleeping over one of her pre-school friends house. Her first sleep over. Roy loved his baby girl, but being a father was a lot of work. So tonight he was going to relax. He was at a local bar in Star City where he lived where he was known at least by the bar table. He had called up his friend Cole. It’d been a while since he had seen him. Being a father took up most of his time after all. But he was glad to finally get some time to himself. “Hey, can I get a Diet Coke, Joe?” he asked the bartender who looked over at him from behind the bar as Roy began to stack the pool balls. “How ‘bout you order a real drink for once Roy. It won’t kill ya.”
Roy thought about it for a moment. “I’ll have a Virgin Cuba Libre then.” Roy knew very well that was rum and coke without the rum. Which the bartender then pointed out. “I know,” he said as he stacked the last couple of pool balls. “Make it a diet.” The bartender shook his head as he turned around and made him a Diet Coke. By the time he brought it to him he was rolling the tringle of stacked pool balls back and forth. “Thank you,” Roy said taking his drink and taking a sip before placing it on the table next to him.
Roy grabbed a pool stick off of the wall rack and examined it for a moment before deciding it was good enough. He walked over with the cue ball in his opposite hand. He removed the triangle and placed it back where it belonged. Roy walked to the opposite side of the table and placed the cue ball down across from the triangle of pool balls just waiting to be broken apart. Roy lined up his shot concentrating and hit the cue ball which shot across the table fast and hard as it smashed into the triangle and broke it apart. None of the balls went in, but it was a damn good break as the pool balls were now scattered across the table rather well.

To be honest, Cole had been quite surprised when Roy Harper had called him up and suggested that they meet. Once upon a time they had been friends, but that was a while ago, before Cole had been out of the Black Beret Special Ops team with Slade and the rest of everyone, and Roy had settled down with his daughter and renounced his superhero ways. Why, of all people, would (former) Red Arrow want to call him up at this point in time? Sure, Cole figured that he was fun to be around, perhaps back then, but really they hadn't known each other that well. He had then, too, but his drinking, gambling (cheating too), superheroing probably the most, wasn't as obvious to those that he just met through neighboring super teams and not personally. And then, their meeting place was, of all in the world, a bar. Maybe Roy was still a little bit of a bad boy, like Cole had heard he was in stories.
Out of his standard cargo pants and working shirts, Cole had put on a pair of jeans and one of his nicer tee-shirts. It still clearly showed his rebelliousness though, for it was a Motley Crue shirt. He had also tried to tame his hair, but perhaps it was a bit more rebellious than even he was: it still was hanging there in a moppy mess. He strolled into the bar, and his eyes scanned it for a sign of his friend. It wasn't hard to spot him, getting a diet Coke. That was understandable. Going up to the bar, he nodded to the tender. "I'll have a Irish Scotch." He promised himself that he wouldn't drink it too fast, right in front of his old friend. Heh. Time would tell if he actually kept that oath. Not even bothering to wait for the drink, Cole wandered over to the wall and picked a pool cue. Just then, the unmistakable sound of Pool balls being broken apart echoed through the bar. He turned around just in time to see all of them stop. It was a pretty good shot, he had to admit. "Roy." Cole's smile was genuine as he went over to his friend. He hadn't seen this man in what seemed like forever. He did seem a bit toned-down, and definitely didn't look the same as when they last saw each other. "How's life been treatin' ya? Heard that you have a daughter, that must be an adventure and a half."

Roy heard Cole getting his beverage. Roy had no qualms with anyone else drinking alcohol. He just had to be careful when drinking it. After all, he had an addicting personality and he had no intentions of ever falling back into heroine or alcohol. After taking his shot, Roy looked up at Cole as he finished choosing his pool stick. Roy looked over his old friend. He was sporting a pair of jeans and a nice Motley Crue tee-shirt. Great band. Cole's hair was a messy mop. Roy would always be a bad boy. Even when he had gotten out of rehab and became Red Arrow and was a straight-laced hero, he was still the 'bad boy' whenever he helped out the Teen Titans. He hadn't joined them because he had been a founding member of the last team and when that fell apart, along with his relationship with Wodergirl, it had been a contributing factor as to the reason why he started taking heroine.
Of course, he fully blamed himself for his actions. It was no one else's fault other than his own. He accepted that a long time ago. "Cole" he replied in the same tone with his usual smile. "Ah, ya heard about that? Has the new Speedy been spreading that news around the hero circle?" Roy wasn't completely surprised he knew about Lian. After all, Lian was four years old. Not to mention the fact she was not only his daughter, but Chesire's as well. It wasn't everyday that a hero hooked up with a villain and had a child. Of course, Chesire had never actually been much of a mother to Lian. Roy was a single father and Lian hadn't seen her mother since she was a newborn baby. "Her name's Lian. takes a lot after me actually. Good looks, increasingly stubborn. I'm afraid any day now she might run outside with a bow and arrow and try to stop a bank robbery or something." He joked and it was clear in his voice.
"Life's been good. It's kind of relaxing now. Single father. I work as a counselor for recovering teen drug addicts now." Being a parent to Lian hadn't been very stressful for Roy. She was a very good girl. Though she did inherit her father's stubbornness which could be a bit of a problem from time to time. But generally she was a sweet little kid. " So what about you? How's your life been?" It had been so long since he had seen his old friend. It felt like it had been a decade or two. Of course, Roy knew that it hadn't been as long as he felt it had been.

Roy turned to face him, and returned the grin Cole gave him. If he had known Roy's thoughts about his shirt, he would have wholeheartedly agreed. Cole adored Motley Crue, and thought they were one of the best bands around. Whenever he got a chance, he listened to their music, especially the Dr. Feelgood album. He never quite got tired of that song. "Cole. Ah, ya heard about that? Has the new Speedy been spreading that news around the hero circle?" "No, I figured it out for myself. Saw you and your little one at the park, I think, once." Reaching back in his memory, he pulled up the time he had seen Roy- or someone very alike to Roy- at the park, with a two-year-old girl. Later, he had caught sight of them again in town, and that last time confirmed his intuition. "I've never met the new Speedy. I don't hang around teams much anymore." Most of his old friends didn't know that, at least ones he hadn't seen in a while. Her name's Lian. takes a lot after me actually. Good looks, increasingly stubborn. I'm afraid any day now she might run outside with a bow and arrow and try to stop a bank robbery or something." Cole couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not surprised. Can't picture anyone even closely related to you being anything but adventurous and perhaps a little bit hyper." Lian. That was a good name. Same number of letters as Cole, and with a little bit more of a ring. He hadn't seen her since that day two years ago. He wondered exactly what she looked like now. He didn't know the identity of the mother, and that put a bit of a cap on things. However, he drew a small picture in his mind using a few of Roy's features. "Life's been good. It's kind of relaxing now. Single father. I work as a counselor for recovering teen drug addicts now."[/color] "We all need permanent respite from the wandering life eventually, don't we?" What he didn't tell Roy was that he himself had been thinking lately about hanging up the guns and mask and just trying to live a normal life. The one reason he couldn't, however, was that he didn't have Zealot. She would be the one to complete his life, who would finally get him to calm down and truly retire from the game of superheroing. "I'm glad you've found your niche, Roy. I'm afraid that I wouldn't be able to even if I tried."
It was good to know that there was at least someone out there that cared about him, too. However, the true intention of Roy summoning him here was hidden. There had to be something more. Why, after all these years, did Roy want to talk to him, and not before? Perhaps it was out of simple loneliness, though, too. "I've been fine, myself." Cole let his eyes hit the pool table for a second. "Since I last saw you, I've struck out on my own, wandering from town to town, trying to find Zannah and dealing with any dangers I may encounter on the way. Haven't talked to as old a friend as you in forever."

“Hmm, so you’ve been stalking me, have you?” He joked with a chuckle after Cole telling him about seeing him and his daughter at the park two years ago. Roy wasn’t completely surprised by the fact that Cole hadn’t met Mia, the new Speedy. After all, the world was a big place and there was much that needed to be done. There were plenty of things to do and plenty of heroes to meet.
“Well, she’s a bit like me I suppose,” Roy said trying to think of how to describe Mia. “‘Cept, she’s a hell of a lot more stubborn than me. And she’s got a bit of a bigger mouth. Her stubbornness lies somewhere between my own and Green Arrow’s. But she’s a good kid. No doubt about it. Reminds me of myself when i was her age.” That was how he thought about Mia. She really was quite a bit like himself when he was her age. Y’know, minus the heroine addiction, alcohol and homelessness. But he didn’t say that part. After all, he was having a good time with an old friend and he was sure Cole wanted to have a good time too. Bringing up his former heroine addiction from when he was seventeen was not a way to lighten the mood or have a fun time.
“Roy laughed with Cole and then chuckled at Cole’s response. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right. It even seems that it affects my adoptive family as all of them are the same way.” It was quite true. His own father had shown he was one for heroics being he was a forest ranger who died saving Navajo indians from a forest fire. Green Arrow who had adopted him when he was twelve was quite the adventurer being both a hero and a millionaire who took pleasure in adventuring. Then there was Hal who had been like an uncle to him when he was with Green Arrow, who was an adventurer and a member of the ‘space police’ as Roy called the Green lanterns. He had already spoken of Mia. But even so, he had long ago taken Green Arrow and Hal Jordan off his christmas list for what they and Black Canary had done to him. They weren’t family to him. At least not anymore or in spirit. By law he was still related to Oliver Queen due to his adopting him. Even if he was of age being twenty-four.
“Yeah, we all deserve it at the least,” Roy responded. Roy hadn’t said that everyday he thought of putting on the costume and picking up his bow and arrows again. He wanted to so badly. But he cared more about Lian than he did himself. Lian mattered more than what he wanted to do. And running around with a bow and arrow put her at risk. Being a father meant always thinking of your child before you even thought about thinking about yourself. “Thanks.” Roy listened to what Cole said next. “Well, that’s no way to think about it. You’ll find whatever your niche is some day. I’ll admit, putting down the heroics isn’t for everyone. It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve had to do.”
“”I hear ya, I haven’t talked with any of my old friends in years.” Roy admitted. It was a bit sad, but also true. Being a single father did not leave him with a lot of time on his hands to do things he wanted to do. He never really thought of it that way though. Because truthfully he wanted to do anything and everything he could for Lian. “What happened with Zannah?”
