Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Clint had been bust lately, so it felt so good to lay back and relax. His nest on the Helicarrier was there for him to sit up in, and there was no better place in the world (Well, alright, except for the Canadian Rockies). He always needed some time to unwind after and before missions; when he didn't take this important time, it felt like he was going to snap emotionally. Up here he could get a bit of peace and quiet. The hum of the Helicarrier's engines made Clint feel sleepy, amd he nearly fell asleep several times. Every time he jerked himself awake, though. Though he was relaxing, he also happened to have a job to do. His nest overlooked the bridge, the same exact one he had used to sabotage that second engine when he had been working for Loki, and from there he could see every employee's screen. He had been hired secretly some weeks before (by Tony Stark, of course) to catch any slacking employees and give them a good scare. Tony had even presented Clint with a silly invention- a pop gun-arrow, to be fired onto the employees' screens and warn them of the consequences if they kept playing Galaga when no one was looking. They could be used for other things, but Stark had dreamed them up for this purpose mainly.Since Clint had started, everyone had become paranoid and very few instances of lazy employees had cropped up. It was a bit of power, and Clint despite himself was enjoying the shifty eyes of everyone as they looked around and pushed off their want to kick back.
He caught the footsteps just as they entered the corridor beneath. Two pairs, both feminine, Light and quick. One was definitely Danii's, and the other Clint couldn't identify. As they drew closer, Danii could be heard saying that they were approaching the bridge of the helicarrier, where everything went on and about a hundred technicians worked around the clock to keep SHIELD's base running. Quietly hopping down from his nest, Clint landed in the corridor and waited for the two. He couldn't help wondering who the other woman was, the one with the long, firey red hair as they came into sight. Clint waited for Danii to end what she was saying before smiling their way and nodding. "Hi Danii. Good to see you out and about today. Who's your guest?" He inspected the girl again. He felt small compared to her; at least six foot three, she was just ginormous. She had that aura of not being from this world. ((Hope this's alright by you. It's what I thought you meant by what you said in the chatbox. I'm looking forward to this, actually ;) ))

Stretching a little, Danii looked around, pointing this and that out to the red head beside her. She never really had noticed just how tall the younger girl was until now, while they were walking along the halls of the Helicarrier together and definitely garnering stares from the other agents on board. You'd think at least half of them would be used to seeing things like uber tall orange skinned, red headed women who were hovering above the ground. Strange things happened around here all the time after all, "Alright so, these are the cabins," She pointed to her room, "That one there's mine,"
Opening the door she let Star look around for a moment, the room was small and didn't have very much to it aside from a few books, gun magazines, and a very very old poster of Captain America that she needed to move least someone start making fun of her for it, "Alright, we'll head off towards the bridge and go meet a few people," Danii was very aware of how much Star liked to meet new people, she was just an extremely bubbly and generally happy person from what the blonde had seen. And she did enjoy watching the look on everyone elses face when they met the happy go lucky alien girl.
Danii was explaining what exactly went on in the bridge and how it kept everything going when she turned the corner and oh! There was Clint, "Oh hey dude! I didn't even know you were lurkin' around today," Danii smiled, "Clint this is Starfire, she's from the planet Tameran, really sweet girl. She's actually my new roommate and I figured I'd show her around this old tin can since everyone's probably gonna be seein' more of her anyways," Girl was packing some serious power after all, it wouldn't take long for SHIELD to want to make sure to have that on their side and not someone elses, "Star, this here's Clint Barton. Ol' Hawkeye himself, guy's like a snarky brother to me, one of those Avengers I was tellin' you about earlier," Hey, at least she wasn't calling him a Big Ol' Hunk of Manly Man again. Not that she had forgotten about the nickname.

Starfire was greatly enjoying her trip through the Helicarrier. It reminded her of her old home at the Titan's tower, all the machinery and weapons she didn't recognize and chatter that went over her head. It even had that same smell the more technical parts of it had. She listened to Danii's explanations closely, making mental notes as to what was what and who did what. It was all very fascinating to her, and every now and again she would silently repeat what her older friend was telling her just to make sure she had it.
It was really amazing to see everything. Even Danii's little second home with its super hero poster with a man on it she didn't recognize. Even unused it had that same home-y feel as her apartment somehow, despite it being much smaller and not having many personal effects. When Starfire asked who the man on the poster was, Danii had merely said she would meet him sooner or later and that she didn't want to spoil the surprise. The Tameranean noticed the way she looked at the poster for a moment, and gathered that he must have been someone important to her, especially to have a poster of him.
Next they were going to the bridge, Danii said. Humans had such strange names for things; when Star asked, her human companion explained that the bridge was where the ship's systems were maintained and where the vehicle was directed. "Oh! I see. A command center!" She replied before a man in a strange outfit with a dated weapon appeared as they rounded a bend in the corridor. After they traded words, Danii introduced him as Clint Barton, or Hawkeye.
"Ah! It is most wonderful to meet you, Clint Barton!" Starfire exclaimed, bouncing on her heels and clasping her hands together in front of her excitedly. There was just something about meeting new people that filled her with joy, even if she couldn't place just why. "Danii speaks of the Avengers often! Your stories are most pleasing to hear!" Who knew a tour of a flying boat would be so much fun?

"Lurking's a gentle way to put it." Clint shrugged. "And I'm not snarky. Whoever said I was snarky?" A lopsided grin grew on his face. That was Danii, always going at him. And he was always going to sarcastically bash her back and make snarky remarks. That's just the way it always ended up.
Now turning to Starfire, their guest, he smiled at her and nodded. "Starfire. Nice to meet you as well. You're from Tameran, huh? I've never heard of it. Yet at the same time there's been many things cropping up lately that I've never heard of before." Things were getting very odd, very, very odd, and Clint couldn't make any sense of left and right anymore. But he still had friends, that was good, and his fellow supers still were around to lend him a hand. Also, others were popping up that seemed to have the same goals and interests as they did. She had a bubbly personality, which Clint liked right off the bat. She was obviously excited to get to know everyone.

"Sounded better then sayin' your a creeper just creepin' and stalkin' around everywhere," She shot back with a quiet laugh, rolling her eyes a little behind her goggles, Danii did enjoy poking fun at him too much, but it was all out of love, really, "Yeah one of the ones from that other universe," The blonde decided to clarify, so she was standing next to a very tall girl from a different planet from another universe and good lord Danii was getting much too comfortable with the strange things and odd circumstances that were making themselves known now and days.
"Anyway, Clint dear, I better keep on with my tour, this place is huge and I think we've only gotten through like a quarter of-" Danii was cut off when a lower ranking agent came running up to them, breathing hard and trying to get out that he had something important to tell her, "Easy there tiger, catch your breath," Pulling the shorter man away from the other two he gave her the quick verbal message between short breaths, all Danii could make out was Fury, Vegas, helicopter and something about desk work for the next ten years. The blonde paled almost comically before turning an interesting shade of green.
Turning on her heels to face the other two she gave a weak, almost fearful smile, "Ah so.....hehe, yeah. Clint, could you please do me a favor and show Starfire around a little more while I go take care of this?" And here Danii had been hoping that she could have dodged this completely with just the bare skeleton of the debriefing she had given Fury when she first got back from that particular mission, "Oh! And Clint, bro, if I don't come back from this, tell everyone I fuckin' love them alright? Even Stark, but mention how I thought he was an asshat right till the end ok?" Alright so she was probably being rather over dramatic at the moment, but the ass chewing she was about to walk into was going to be of epic proportions, "Star, just listen to Clint and you should be all good alright? I'll see you later," And with that she was following after the other agent to her proverbial doom.

"Oh, she's from the other universe. That's awesome. Was wondering when I would meet someone from there." Clint had only suspected that the tall redhead was from the other timeline. He hadn't wanted to make assumptions. After all, even things from his own universe continued to astound him, like the existence of other planets with life on them, and the emergence of new power types and abilities. Clint had seen some pretty crazy things in his scant thirty-five years. No one could know what would show up next.
"Anyway, Clint dear, I better keep on with my tour, this place is huge and I think we've only gotten through like a quarter of-" Clint had been getting ready to reply with a cheery hello, but then the other Agent came running in, out of breath and panting for the blonde. Clint couldn't help but grin as Danii's expression changed abruptly. Paperwork. He knew how that worked. The "Younger" Agents got that duty most of the time; he himself had many times in his first few years at SHIELD. This must be something very important- or urgent- for the defense organization to pull Danii for it. But the smile dropped a little as Danii asked him (Very nicely, at least) to watch Starfire for the moment. Great. A Babysitting job. It wasn't a total bummer, but Clint had never been too good at watching people. He preferred working with people and in situations where the only one he needed to worry about was himself. But Since Star was a friend of Danii's, and she was being called away on business, Clint nodded. "Sure, Danii. Be glad to help. Don't bore yourself to death in there, alright?" The smile reappeared.
"Oh! And Clint, bro, if I don't come back from this, tell everyone I f*ckin' love them alright? Even Stark, but mention how I thought he was an *sshat right till the end ok?" A small chuckled escaped his lips. "Whatever you say. I'll make sure that the message is handed off." Clint had expected something like this from Danii at some point or another, sometime.
She ran off, leaving Clint and the really tall Tameranian alone. Both women made him feel pretty short. He was only five foot eight and they were... pretty gigantic. But he didn't mind much. "Alright, then." Turning to Starfire, he motioned toward the other end of the tunnel with his head, and asked nonchalantly, "Are you still interested in finishing the tour? I'll try to be as good of a tour guide as Danii, but I seriously doubt that I'll do her any justice."

Starfire was enjoying the brief meeting she was having with Hawkeye. And then someone she didn't know ran up and tried to start talking, interrupting what Danii had been saying before. They traded some words that the Tameranean couldn't hear and then Danii looked sick. She then gave a quick bit of banter back to Hawkeye, who was now apparently taking over the tour. Starfire was concerned for a few seconds when Danii mentioned something about dying, but she caught the joke after a few moments and avoided embarrassing herself.
And so she was left with Clint Barton. Starfire smiled sweetly and bounced on her heels a bit. "It's all right! I actually know a lot more about technology than one would think. Cyborg did a great deal of creating machines, and my own home world has a very high level of technology. We have ships capable of crossing from Tameran to Earth in but a week. However, Danii has said that there is a spectacular view of New York out of the front viewport currently and I would very much like to see, no explanations required!" She explained cheerily. While she was fascinated by SHIELD's technology, it was similar to Tameranean technology from several generations ago.
"I really am most excited to be here! Danii has told me many stories of the Avengers' exploits and the SHIELD agents. Although... I expected you to be taller..." Star commented cheerily, gesturing for Hawkeye to lead the way and beaming brightly. It was too bad the rest of the team wasn't here for her to meet, but she was more than happy to just meet one at a time. After all, she was certain they all had their own amazing stories to share...

"We must be a very primitive race to you guys. Everyone I meet who isn't from this world, it's the same. We're the babies, and we'll probably be that way for years to come." It was true. Some stuck-up characters Clint had come to know over his excursions on Earth bragged about how their civilizations were eons old, and how Earthlings were so weak they needed to be protected. When the times were right, Clint had tried his hardest to prove that the latter wasn't true. Humans could take perfect care of themselves. but he had been careful not to anger them; Elite military fleets were prevalent in the galaxy. As she continued on, Clint's full attention was turned on Star, and he found himself genuinely interested in what she had to say. It was impossible not to like her bubbly attitude. The way her eyes sparkled made one feel warm and at home, unlike some other other-worlders that Clint had met in his lifetime. She mentioned the view from the bridge, and the sharpshooter nodded. "Never seen a better view of New York in my life." Gesturing forward, he started toward the bridge. "That's Danii, telling everyone who will listen stories of guts and glory with the US Government." Yes. It was exactly like her. Clint had always believed that if she hadn't been a SHIELD Agent, Danii would have been a librarian. She was always at her tales. Clint had expected something like this from Danii at some point or another, sometime. "Is everyone on your planet tall? Anyways, I think that it's the gravity here. -16 x squared. Causes us to grow to all different heights. You wouldn't have counted on that; all you've ever been used to is the gravity on Tameran." Clint had never really minded being in the presence of tall people, or comments about his height. It was an asset sometimes, he could slip into smaller spaces, and he was a bit quicker than other heroes. Not to mention he was stockier. That was just the way that he was built.
They emerged onto the bridge, and everyone visibly relaxed on seeing Clint walk in. They had all probably thought he was up in the bridge. When he was down everyone knew they could relax; he wouldn't enforce the no slacking policy her kept when he was on duty. Just as Star crossed the threshhold into the bridge, the clouds that has shrouded the view outside cleared, presenting them with a magnificent view of the New York City skyline. It was about noon then, and so the sun glinting off the buildings made everything look squeaky-clean. "You should see it at sunset and sunrise."

"Well... Yes, Tameran has much in the way of high technology, but our race is also much older than yours. We have had more time to develop, though our development was much slower than yours has been from what I can tell," Starfire replied, smiling a bit. "Tameran certainly did not have aerial vehicles at this point... although I suppose we don't need it..." she trailed off, her thoughts wandering back home for a bit as Clint ended up wandering ahead. After a moment she noticed she was behind and walked quickly to catch up.
She was puzzled by the height question. It was a bit embarrassing, but she had actually not known many of her own kind outside of her family and aides. Were Tameraneans generally taller than humans? Star had no real clue. "I am unsure, to be completely honest. The Tameraneans I do know are usually near my height or taller though. I am... not quite sure the gravity difference between Tameran and Earth. I never really thought to compare them in that way." She admitted with a shrug, following on to the bridge.
It was set up much like one would expect of a bridge. Rows of people peering at monitors, one playing a video game on his console and most of the others looking at complex readouts that she recognized as older versions of some of Tameran's sensory technology, readouts of the ship's status, security feeds, something about a woman in a block of ice. And then she noticed the wide window straight ahead, and a quick hop brought her in to the air and past the various lines of people and monitors, hovering in front of the window to see the fantastic view of New York City. She couldn't explain why, but she had always loved the sight of a metropolitan skyline with the sun blazing off the windows.
"The city is most beautiful from here!" Star said happily, not turning her gaze from the city and not noticing the stares she was getting from below and behind her. She was fairly used to being stared at for her unusual looks, so when she turned back around to beam at and return to Clint, she didn't even take note of the people glancing up from their screens at her. "This vehicle is so large... How do you manage to not be lost in these corridors?"

"Hm." Clint murmured. What Starfire said made him truly interested. Yeah, it had seeme that humankind had advanced quickly, technologically, in the last few hundred years. It still made him feel very young though, because everyone had done it before. Maybe not in this way, but definitely. He didn't hold it against Starfire.
She must not have known her own planet that well, Clint realized. She seemed to be pretty confused when he asked if Tameraneans were taller. "That's interesting that you don't know. But I suppose that I don't think about things like that often, either. I've kinda come to accept that others are taller than me." Things like gravity, too, were that way. One never thought to compare notes on Earth's gravity to all the other habitable planets until someone actually found one of the oases, or it was brought up in conversation with a native. Like now.
She bounded ahead to look at the view. Clint couldn't help but grin. He hung back a little, to let her have a little room to move. He had never been one to cramp personal space. He had a bubble around his body himself. "Well, when I first started working here I got lost a few times myself. There are cameras all over so anyone that seems to be lost is found and shown the way to where they want to be." SHIELD had put that precaution in when the helicarrier was built. The flying behemoth was massive, and its twisting caverns were like a huge maze. "After virtually living on this ship for a while, though, it becomes your home and you are able to navigate it better. Another clever trick is to remember that if you get lost in the back corridors, find your main one and it will always lead you back here, to the bridge."
