Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

In classes working on becoming an astrophyscist, making sure that her mother wasn't going to go back into depression, working in charity shops, cheering up the homeless, talking to people who looked like they needed someone to talk to, doing homework and occasionally she tried out her guise of 'Liath' to help the world as a Superhero. So it wasn't often that Lilith had time to spare to do anything else, but today she found that she had it. The red head had stared out the window for a full five minutes, unsure of what to do. The shops have all given her a day off, her homework was finished, University was closed as it was the weekend, there were no homeless people that she could find to help, nor was there normal people who needed help. That left her guise of Liath, which was not too easy considering how she knew very little fighting moves. Yes she could fly and have a shield, but there were others who were better dealt to managing to world. So, due to all of this, the student could be found up a tree. Not many people noticed the girl, lying back in a tree with a thick midnight blue coat, hair dangling down through the branches. A bag was placed on one of the branches, containing her mobile and various other things that may be useful. Lilith herself was humming the tune to Spirit of Man from War of the worlds, it was one of her faviroute songs from the musical version of the Victorian novel and yet no one had noticed the girl up the tree. Or maybe they had no interest. Either way it didn't bother Lilith. Her attention was focued on a book that she had managed to get up into the tree. After a while od debate, which involved looking at Star Trek books (Lilith was still amazed by - who had thought up this brilliant idea?) Lord of the Rings and The War of the Worlds. It may not be a common thing to expect a girl to be reading, but the more suprising thing would probably be that she was reading in a tree and didn't seem to be having any problems. Years ago, during Study Leave in England for her GCSEs, Lilith had tried to do her homework up in a tree and found that in general reading the material was not too hard when above ground. Making notes on the other than was not easy. Still, there she was, reading The War of the Worlds and humming Spirit of Man in a tree. Flipping the page, Lilith came to a new Chapter; Thunder Child and paused in her humming, thinking about the song version of this chapter. It always brought tears to her mother's eyes. As her mother said 'those brave souls who went out to battle the Martians and yet receive so little note even in their death', the student supposed this was sad. That lead her to briefly consider the superheros of this world. So many fought what the others couldn't. They stood out from the fleeing population and risked their lives so that others may live. Lilith hoped that no harm would come of them, they had their skills, that was why they went out and the girl touched her ring slightly as she sat in the tree. There was heros and there were villians. In the War of the Worlds the villains had been the Martians (Lilith had been disappointed when actual Martians did not appear to be in Tripods) had been defeated by bacteria. Briefly she wondered if this would have a comparison on real life. Or maybe not. Still, drawing comparisons was fun but there was a book to read and smiling she started the next chapter, still huming the female lines in the Spirit of Man.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] Christopher Powell, to put it simply, was restless In his bliss. He had left home about three hours earlier and was still not willing to go back. How could anyone be inside on this beautiful, peaceful day? This, he tried to convince himself, was the main reason he had decided to go on this outing. Yet, he was also aware of his feelings toward his new family. Since the switching, his life had changed drastically. His mother and brothers were not the same- literally- and he really didn't know what to do about it. So he stole out of the house frequently, making the excuse that he had a knowledge bowl meet or something (if one of them asked, that is). Also, he was stressed with being Darkhawk. The elder alien had been right when he had said that the amulet was a gift, though yet a burden. Christopher had been out in Gotham all of the last week and the week before, with only one break to go to that meteor shower in New Mexico. He liked the action and everything, and all the friends he made, yet he knew that he shouldn't have ever been in this position. The strain was about to make him snap. He hadn't slept in weeks. How he was still running, he didn't know.
It wasn't time to think about that, though. The whole of the Park was teeming with beauty and pleasure. He walked down the sidewalk, moseying along and losing himself in the brilliance of the day. Ah, the outdoors. The sun beat down on the concrete and warmed the world up nicely. The birds sang in the trees- Speaking of trees, Something red caught his eye as he glanced up into the boughs of one. Also, he realized that the whistle he was hearing wasn't a bird, but someone humming the tune to Spirit of Man from War of the Worlds. Stopping, he squinted a little to see who it was and discern, possibly, what in the world was going on. Instinctively, his hand went down into his shirt, feeling for the ever-present amulet that switched his body with that of the Darkhawk. He almost flushed when he realized that he was squeezing it. Why?- It wasn't needed. It was just a girl, reading in the tree. Chris sighed a bit with relief. Heaven forbid he'd have to fight someone here in public.
Now, his curious nature set in. He walked closer and stopped and the base of the tree, determined to talk to this redhead. "Erm- Hi. How's the weather up there?" He called up to Lilith. "I hope you can get down." A small smile came across his face, and he chuckled a bit. Table layout by BRY, 2012 |

It was simple and fun, something that she had done in England. Of course, she had lived in the countryside then and so it was easier for her to get to good climbing trees. In fact, the red haired girl remembered that one of the trees was perfect for climbing, as if the Goddess and God had sculptured it for children to climb up. "Erm- Hi. How's the weather up there?" Lilith looked down at the sound of someone calling, placing a thumb in her page and moving to sit so she could look down on the person. It was a boy, or man. Lilith was never very good at identifying ages and how one should refer to people. Especially in the age group of about fifteen to twenty, although it stretched to twentyfive with people looking younger than they actually were. Either way, it was a male human. "Same as it is down there." |
[/b] Lilith smiled, her tone friendly as she examined the person. Ever since her father died and Lilith got the power ring, the red haired English girl had not really spoken to other people too much in casual conversation. She spoke a lot to the poor, trying to help them. And to her professors. "I hope you can get down.""Of course I can!"[/b] Lilith said, putting some pretend shock into her voice, but carefully bookmarking War of the Worlds and placing it in her bag, before lightly swinging across a branch, stepping onto another and then hanging until she reached a third. Now she was closer to the strange, but still in the tree and above him. "Surely the important thing is to make sure that you can leave the pavement,"[/b] At that, Lilith's eyes sparkled with amusement, having come from England, as well as having an English accent, the girl said some things differently. And when in America she loved to use that. She wasn't going to submit the American way of saying things! "And climb up a tree."[/b] The girl grinned. Sitting down in the tree, she glanced back up at her bag that was hanging above her head, containing her precious book. Another good thing about being in trees (other than being taller than everyone else) was that you can leave your bag unattended and travel around the tree and not expect to get it stolen or rummaged through. There were just so many advantages to spending one's time in a tree. Besides, she liked it up here. It was comfortable and one could lie down and read without attracting too much attention. No one every thought to look up to see if anything was in a tree. Apart from this person, but then again, Lilith thought, he might have heard my humming. That was always one of the possibilities.[/div] tags: Open! Chris Powell word count: 514 muse: War of the Worlds notes:Thank you for replying. [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] She emerged out of the shadows of the tree, and the first thing that caught his attention was exactly how red that hair of hers was. It flamed in the wind, and for some odd reason reminded him of a meteor's tail. That, or a fragment of supernova. He had seen one from the 'Hawk mothership when he was up there. The sight was spectacular, even from one hundred lightyears away. Actually, the elder had told him, that was a front-row seat. At Lilith's answer, Chris fake-reprimanded himself. "Oh, duh. Of course it's the same." Slapping his hand to his forehead, gently and sarcastically of course, he threw a joke up: "I very much hope you aren't getting rained on. That would be bad. You'd catch cold or get struck by lightning or something." Just from general appearance, Chris thought she was pretty, all in all. The way she laughed at the thought of not being able to get down only made that notion a bit stronger. "Of course I can! Surely the important thing is to make sure that you can leave the pavement." Her English accent made it clear that she wasn't from around these parts. As she slid her book into her bag, Chris got a glimpse of the title: War of the Worlds. Wow, what a surprise. She must really like that story. Well, it wasn't like he couldn't identify. He quite liked it, too. In the future perhaps it would be a good discussion topic. He doubted that he was as much as a fanatic as she was, though. "I'd have to agree with you." It had been a while since he had climbed a tree but for some reason that didn't really matter at the moment. Now Christopher looked up at a route up branches that would bring him to a place just below the girl. It only took him a couple seconds to swing up like a monkey, and perch himself up on the afforementioned spot. The slender outshoot was a bit shaky, but it wasn't too bad if he stuck closer to the trunk. "There we are. That's better." He flashed Lilith a big smile. "I'm Chris, by the way. It's good to meet you.""Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this." Table layout by BRY, 2012[/style] |

Too often she had found people who had been denied the opportunity to learn how to climb. Often the teenager took the time to teach them how. "Oh, duh. Of course it's the same." Lilith smiled as the boy . "I very much hope you aren't getting rained on. That would be bad. You'd catch cold or get struck by lightning or something." Lilith considered this, as a physics student she was aware that lightning was attracted to higher up objects and that trees exploded when hit by lightning. But the chances of being hit were rather slim. "Don't worry, I think I'm safe." Lilith replied cheerfully after a moment's consideration. The tree would also provide shelter from most of the rain. The important thing was to make sure that her precious book didn't get harmed. Lilith was 70% water, she could cope with it. The book on the other hand couldn't. Leaning down through the branches, Lilith tested it, seeing how far she could lean and how loose her grip could be. Climbing trees as like second nature to her. "I'd have to agree with you." With a nod and a smile, Lilith went a few branches back, giving the stranger room to climb up. Company was always welcomed. Blue eyes watched as the boy swung up through the branches and Lilith eyes the branch he was standing on, it didn't appear as strong as the ones that she was using. "There we are. That's better." Lilith nodded, smiling as well. "Do you want to move onto a safer branch?" Lilith asked, moving through the tree a bit more to leave an open spot on one of the older branches. "I'm Chris, by the way. It's good to meet you." At that, Lilith moved to hold out her hand for shaking. "And I am Lilith from the fair land of Albion." |
[/b] She said, introducing herself, the girl enjoyed introducing herself in such a manor and her eyes shone with amusement. "Or as most boring people will say, I am from England."[/b] The student leaned back in the branches now, clearly at home above ground. Lilith stretched slightly, enjoying the feeling before turning her attention back to her guest, Chris. "Are you in education?"[/b] It may seem like an odd question, but the education system in America below university had always confused Lilith. Besides, she loved learning. [/div] tags: Open! [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] "Don't worry, I think I'm safe." Chris didn't quite feel the same way, but he didn't press the matter, just shrugged. "Well, one can't be too careful, right?" He suspected that she would have enough sense to get out of the tree if it did start to rain, so it was pretty much pointless to talk about it any more.
She moved up a little as he hopped up, giving him a bit of room to maneuver and get himself settled. He was grateful for that. He still needed a bit of time to get used to the feeling of standing on the round slenderness of the branches. "Oh, I suppose." He wasn't going to refuse the offer to reposition himself on a stronger branch compared to the one he was on. This one was making him nervous now, after all. It was starting to give. He reached up one more branch, and putting all his weight on the other leg, braced up against the trunk, Chris pulled himself up to a higher, more stronger one. Once he was sure he was completely settled and could let go with his hands without becoming unstable, he glanced over at Lilith again. She was a bit closer now than she was before, and he found himself admiring the small bits of sunlight that glinted off the red-blonde in her hair. "And I am Lilith from the fair land of Albion. Or as most boring people will say, I am from England." Ahh, that made sense. It explained the accent, anyway, plus the fact that she was groping for the right words to explain herself. "Figured that you were from somewhere around there. The accent kinda gave you away." if he was better versed in this kind of thing, he could probably tell that the distinct diction or variation on a certain word placed her in Albion, or South Wales, or some other remote English province or town... He couldn't go that far, though.
"Are you in Education?" Christopher couldn't help but smile a little wider. "We call it school here, too." He chuckled good-naturedly. He hoped her wasn't giving off too mean of an aura; that's not what he was meaning to do at all. "Anyways, yeah, I am. I'll graduate from High School, twelfth grade, this next Spring. Then my mandatory schooling will be done. I'm still debating wether to go into the workforce or go on to college after that." "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Well, one can't be too careful, right?" Lilith thought about this for a second; in England she had friends who had always said that health and safety was over-rated. "I'm sure if you look around you'll find people who disagree. But I think the view on 'careful' is relative and so what is one person's careful is another's dangerous." |
[/b] Lilith replied, leaning back on the branches as she considered this. It had been her opinion for a while now. As she moved and Chris also moved to find a safer place, Lilith smiled and relaxed into the branches of the tree so she was lying down while she was waiting. "Oh, I suppose." "Safety may, like careful, be relative but most people view a weak branch as dangerous."[/b] Lilith commented in reply, waiting for Chris to arrive. As he did, she leaned up, grabbing a branch to pull herself into a sitting position. It was easy enough. Something she had been doing since she was a little girl. "Figured that you were from somewhere around there. The accent kinda gave you away.""Good. I always try to make sure that I don't loose my heritage. It's a wide universe and we must be proud of our home. Even if we 've jsut travelled within earth."[/b] Of course, with Lilith's plans it wasn't strange for her to be thinking that the earth was just one place she might visit. The student studied astrophysics and would not turn down an oppotunity to visit the Space Station, although she would never admit that she had gone further than that already. The topic moved onto education, something that Lilith was sure of, at least in physics. "We call it school here, too.""Of course, but education is more than just schools, there's college and university as well."[/b] Lilith pointed out. Her tone wasn't argumentative, more like an apology, as if worried that she might have offended Chris. "Anyways, yeah, I am. I'll graduate from High School, twelfth grade, this next Spring. Then my mandatory schooling will be done. I'm still debating wether to go into the workforce or go on to college after that." High School, college. Did that mean that Chris was 16 then? College in Enland was 16-18, although older people could join. Lilith frowned as she tried to remember if America was different. Was High School the comparison of Secondary School? 11 to 16. "What do you plan to study at College If it's college like back in the green land of Albion then you get to choose four subjects. Unless this new land has a different meaning to college, that is."[/b] The teenager grinned as she sat on the branch.[/div] tags: Open! Chris Powell word count:??? muse: Classics notes: None. [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] "You're starting to sound like my mom." Chris leaned back and closed his eyes, enjoying the shade of the leaves. "You have a valid point, though. Perception is everything when it comes to danger..." He pondered this a while. Yes, just like Lilith he had a few friends that were always living on the fast lane of life, in the danger zone and wanting that feeling that accompanies an adrenaline rush. Ever since he had become Darkhawk Chris had experienced that many times, and it honestly didn't make much of a difference anymore. At first he got a rush out of all of it, but eventually the feeling became standard and monotonous. If it wasn't for his strong sense of right and wrong and his desire to help others, probably by now someone else would be wearing the Darkhawk armor.
"...we must be proud of our home. Even if we've just travelled within earth." The sudden phrase out of the blue jerked Chris back to the present and sent a shear through his heart. Almost unconsciously, his shoulders dropped, and he got a bit of a sad look on his face. Man, he hadn't been proud of his home lately. And it wasn't just New York he was a bit ashamed of. Yes, he had disgraced his own city and been spending more time in Gotham than anywhere else, but what really hit home was that he realized that he had been completely neglecting his family. Half his paycheck still went to them, true, but he hadn't been there physically that much over the span of time since the switching. His mom may have gotten five years younger and gained a Spanish accent and long, black hair but that didn't mean that she wasn't his mom anymore. Suddenly Chrus felt so ashamed that he didn't even want to think about home.
To get his mind off the former, he started into the subject of education. Almost instantly he was perked back up again. "Us Americans are so general, aren't we? I've always thought of the first day we go to learn from a teacher to the last as school. College, Grad Programs, If you're falling asleep in the middle of a boring lecture, that's it." His voice, he hoped, would be as assuring as possible that he didn't mind their discussion going this route. He actually kind of liked it, and was looking forward to learning a little about how things worked overseas. He already knew that they started things very young. Unfortunately, he couldn't remember exactly how young. His World Sociology class had been so boring! And England was a lot different in their educational system from France. "Around here, it's all about choosing a major field that you want to go into and get a degree in. You've been preparing yourself for college for the first eighteen years of your life, and then when you graduate from High School that's when grown-up things really start to hit you in the face. Over half of us drop out of College without ever getting a degree..." Chris trailed off. It was sad but true. Some kids couldn't even handle the strain of High School and dropped out at the first chance they had, when the turned sixteen or seventeen. "Anyways, I'm not quite decided on my major yet. But If I were to go to school in England..." He had to stop to think this one over. "Do you guys have Journalism classes over there? That'd be my primary focus. I love reporting. Let's see... Literature, most specifically classic. Adore Shakespeare, etcetera. Math, emphasis on Geometry. And Science, Biology, most probably. Or Astrophysics. I'm taking a basic class this year and It's pretty cool, though I'm still trying to puzzle out half of what Mr. Kaiser says." He wasn't in the least aware of Lilith's chosen profession. "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this."

But she wasn't unhappy with that, company was good to have. "You're starting to sound like my mom." Lilith frowned, that didn't sound like a good thing, maybe she should work on not sounding like other people's parents. "You have a valid point, though. Perception is everything when it comes to danger...""Perception happens about practically everything, even things that usually appear set in stone." |
[/b] Danger, safety, those sorts of things. Even human rights, as Lilith had encountered, could be argued about. As the topic moved onto being proud of home and remembering one's roots, the student noticed that Chris went silent. He was probably thinking and Lilith was fine with waiting for a response. It would be rude to ask. But then he didn't look to happy. "I'm sorry if I brought up a bad memory. Everything is relative, some people think that heritage isn't that important."[/b] Lilith said, trying to be comforting. She didn't like it when people were hurt or upset, especially if it was her fault. "Us Americans are so general, aren't we? I've always thought of the first day we go to learn from a teacher to the last as school. College, Grad Programs, If you're falling asleep in the middle of a boring lecture, that's it." Lilith listened and wondered if anyone had fallen asleep in a lecture. "I'm always awake in my lectures. Maybe I'm lucky that I get interesting lectures. Or maybe I just sleep enough."[/b] Lilith smiled, despite all the work she did, even the late night looking after the poor, she did sleep enough. Although the thinking about sleeping left the student with a yawn and she covered her mouth and grinned. "I swear talking about sleeping always makes one yawn."[/b] "Around here, it's all about choosing a major field that you want to go into and get a degree in. You've been preparing yourself for college for the first eighteen years of your life, and then when you graduate from High School that's when grown-up things really start to hit you in the face. And High School is like our College. Which means in High School you choose your four subjects."[/b] The student said, thoughtfully. Why couldn't they all have the same name? It was even more confusing if things crossed over and yet weren't the same. "Anyways, I'm not quite decided on my major yet. But If I were to go to school in England... Do you guys have Journalism classes over there? That'd be my primary focus. I love reporting. Let's see... Literature, most specifically classic. Adore Shakespeare, etcetera. [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] Chris saw Lilith's frown at sounding like his mom, and almost instictively put a hand up to the side of his head. "That's a compliment, by the way."
"I'm sorry if I brought up a bad memory. Everything is relative, some people think that heritage isn't that important." "No, it's okay. It isn't that, it's just that I've kind of lost my home, and I'm wallowing in the fear that I'll never get it back again." She was going to think that he was delusional, he knew, that he had gone insane. She was going to laugh him off this branch, and he would lose a friend almost as easily as he had made one. Swallowing, he launched into a cut-down version of his troubles. "The family I knew were always very odd and dysfunctional, yet I couldn't ask for better. My dad was a cop from the New York Police Department, and high up, too. It paid enough for my mom to quit her job and just stay home with us. And my younger brothers. They were so rambunctious, so fun. I loved them to death, swore I would never leave them alone. Yet, my one mistake of taking them for granted was made evident when things started to fall apart, and now my world is flipped upside down. "It started with the discovery that my dad was selling NYPD secrets to the bad guys. That really took a dent out of the family. I'm not sure where he is now; probably with the Mafia. I haven't seen or heard from him in over a year now. "But that isn't all. Call me crazy, don't believe me, I don't care." Chris put his head in his hands. "I can't find anyone who understands what I mean when I talk about the switching. It wasn't too long ago that I woke up one day to find this world completely flipped on its head. I'm not sure what happened, but nonetheless, the impact on my life is so dramatic, it's almost unbearable. My family, they're different. My adventurous redhaired youngest brother is now toe blonde, a video game freak. He's holed up in his room all the time, playing some gristly game or another, and he won't speak to anyone except mom, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With no dad, he's a total recluse. My other brother is a parapalegic. I can't wrestle him like I used to. And mom... Well... She's lost the qualities that make the fact that you remind me of her a good thing." There, it was all out. Soon she would break out into hoots and jeers, or worse yet try to counsel him through all of it. He hated it when people who didn't understand tried to counsel him through something. "Sorry about my sob story. It must sound so silly, but it's completely true."
"So it's university, then? And High School is like our College. Which means in High School you choose your four subjects." Finally, sociology lessons started to come back to him, now that Lilith had given him a sample. "I think that's about right. Except that your years are off from ours by just a tiny bit, and College is shorter than High School, making your secondary longer than our secondary here." It was all really confusing, he knew. Even he was a touch unclear as to what exactly the correllation was between the two school systems. But what he had was what he had gotten from Lilith in the past few minutes and what jaggedly remained of Mrs. Denner's lessons, it would do. And if he was wrong, he would be wrong. She mentioned that she specialized in Astrophysics, and he raised his eyebrows. "Oh, cool. Are you planning on becoming an astrophysicist someday? Work professionally at it?" He had to think a moment about her offer of help. His new mom probably wouldn't approve; but he'd find a way to meet her. He snuck out all the time, after all, and his mom never asked where he went. "Sure, I'd be more than glad for the help. We'll have to find a way to get in contact again, but that's not a big problem." "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this."

That's good, I suppose. I was always told that sounding like a mother was a bad thing." |
[/b] Lilith smiled, or it seemed like that in the movies. Too often it was easy enough to compare things to the movies and that was what Lilith did, getting a bit out of touch with every day society. "No, it's okay. It isn't that, it's just that I've kind of lost my home, and I'm wallowing in the fear that I'll never get it back again.""Home is never something that can be lost. At times it may seem behind but as they say, home is where the heart lies. Even if you think that it is lost, home will find you."[/b] Lilith said, putting a comforting hand on Chris' shoulder. "There is always hope."[/b] Then Chris went on to explain about what had happened and Lilith listened carefully to his words. She wanted to help as much as possible, to give him a ray of light when all seemed dark. Lilith loved to help people and if they had any sort of problems then she would do her best. Family problems... Lilith didn't really know about these. Her parents had always been close and had gotten on well together. When her mother was injured her father had been badly effected, he took his own life to save her - or so Lilith believed. So all in all, she didn't know about dysfunctional families. The thing with his father sounded difficult and Lilith started to think of a way to comfort him, when he continued. "Sorry about my sob story. It must sound so silly, but it's completely true." Lilith thought, trying to puzzle it out. "Did it happen when the worlds collided? Because now there is so much more. Maybe it's a parallel universe and there was another you where you used to be. But things will right themselves out in the future. All will be well."[/b] Lilith said, trying to figure out a reason why they would have changed and any way to get it back. Of course there was the option that Chris was crazy, but Lilith considered that assumption to be the easy way out of solving the problem. There had to be a solution. The worlds colliding seemed valid. "I think that's about right. Except that your years are off from ours by just a tiny bit, and College is shorter than High School, making your secondary longer than our secondary here." "Two years in College, four years in secondary. In Primary we have six years. How many years do you have in your schools?"[/b] Lilith asked, curiously, wondering if Chris wanted to move from the topic he had just brought up. Surely talking about it implied that deep down he wanted someone to help. Could Lilith help? There was little she could do as herself or Liath. All she could do was try to give him hope. But there was hope within the girl that they may be able to get to the bottom of this. "Oh, cool. Are you planning on becoming an astrophysicist someday? Work professionally at it?" Lilith smiled and nodded. "Of course! Space is so vast a subject they'll need all the help they can get. And if we can master space travel it will be even better. To see all those worlds, discover all those people. The larger cultures, the ability to further stretch our knowledge. The universe holds such amazing things such as Black Holes, where the laws of Physics actually break down. Maybe if I am lucky I will get to be on the space station. I'd love to see space."[/b] Lilith had seen space before, but that didn't mean that she wanted to change her career choice. Often it made her all the moor keener to try it out. "Sure, I'd be more than glad for the help. We'll have to find a way to get in contact again, but that's not a big problem."Lilith thought about this. She had only just met Chris so mobile, email and facebook where probably something to avoid. So was meeting up in a non public place. Not that Lilith was afraid, she could remember some Tae-Kwon-Do - I really need to take that up again - and she had a power ring. "What days are you free? I'm usually rather busy. If you need help with work I guess Sunday afternoons are easiest. If you just want to talk, Friday and Saturday evenings and nights I go to help the homeless, so I'm open for talking then."[/b] Lilith said, giving a friendly smile. [/div] tags: Open! [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] "Home is never something that can be lost. At times it may seem behind but as they say, home is where the heart lies. Even if you think that it is lost, home will find you." She had a point, Chris realized with a jolt. New York was still there for him to enjoy, and his home was there. Not to memtion he still actually had a family that loved him and wanted only the best for him. Still, though, if he had lost everything, he would have still had a home. Because, home was where one wanted it to be. It wasn't neccessarily where one was born and raised, it was a place of sanctuary, rest, and safety for one's body and soul. Where you made your bed and slept. It could be anywhere with a roof. Heck, prisoners probably thought of their jail cells as home sometimes. He could genuinely say that he wanted to go home now, see his mom and his brothers. His foot shifted on the branch in front of him, almost like it wanted to lead the way. Chris's face broke into a grin. "You're right." For all the want he could work up, though, something glued him to the branch, told him to stay with Lilith a little longer. Just a while. His family would always be there.
"Did it happen when the worlds collided? Because now there is so much more. Maybe it's a parallel universe and there was another you where you used to be. But things will right themselves out in the future. All will be well." Chris's eyes widened. This was getting better and better by the moment. Lilith really knew about the timeline merge- worlds colliding- whatever you called it. "Yes, that's exactly it." So there were others that knew of it. That was very encouraging. He had thought for the longest time that he was the only one. "I'm not as sure as you are though that it will resolve, though. How does something like this just undo itself? The colliding itself was unbelievable, yeah, but just splitting back apart seems even less likely to me."
"College for us is four years. You can take more if you want a higher degree. High School and Middle School make up secondary, seven years in all. Primary has seven or eight, depending on when you were born and counting kindergarten and preschool." So perhaps he was wrong. They went to school for a shorter time than Americans did. How come, then, they were ahead of The US in smarts? That made no sense. He suspected that there really wasn't anyone in particular to blame, it was just a general thing and the growing corruption in the teachers' unions and social system. "Kindergarten and Preschool are before first grade. I assume you don't have that over there, kids just start in first? That would explain why you graduate so much younger."
She talked about space with an excited smile on her face and a gleam in her eye. Chris couldn't help but think as she spoke that there were already some races that had mastered the art of space travel. They had spaceships, and other planets, and they even waged war with each other, like in the case with the Skrull and the Kree. Space was their travel means, and they thought of it like homo sapien did their atmosphere. The Darkhawk suit could be a spacesuit if it came down to it, Chris had learned from the Elder, and this reinforced the fact that though mankind may be more technologically advanced than some of their space counterparts, they were one of the last remaining races that found the void their bane. "Awesome. I wish you the best of luck there- I imagine that you can do it, easy."
"What days are you free?" He listened to her schedule carefully; after all, her schedule was the one that had any sort of limit. Chris could take off any time he chose, except for three o'clock every weekday which was band class, and five every tuesday and friday which was knowledge bowl. Oh yeah, and his college classes- astrophysics at two and College Journalism at four. It was only four hours out of his day. The rest of his schoolwork he had opted to take online this year because he could. "Sunday's fine." The Powells had never been churchgoers so anytime that day was alright. "How about the city library? That's nice and quiet and public." he was trying to stay away from social media as well, knowing a couple of snoops who could get into Chris's stuff and find Lilith and ask endless questions. Also, he knew that she wanted her privacy and respectability. "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this."

Her duty was to help people, to give them hope, to make them happy. Lilith enjoyed doing those things, it made her happy. It was always nice to watch people with problems have their features changed as a better future became apparent to them. Maybe that was one of the reasons that she wanted to go into astrophysics. It was offering a chance to meet other aliens, many children who would be delighted at this prospect and want to go and find Mr Spock. And there would be aliens to help as well. Or maybe it was just a subject that she was interested in, Lilith was never really sure which one it was. Sometimes it was both. "You're right." Lilith resisted the urge to say 'I am?' in a surprised voice, she figured that joke probably wouldn't work too well. "Of course I am," |
[/b] She grinned, giving a wink to show that she was talking light heartedly. "I wouldn't say something I thought was wrong. Unless it was a joke."[/b] She said, frowning thoughtfully. Surely everything could be thought of as right from a different mind. With an infinite amount of minds due to an infinite universe, surely everything had at least one person thinking that it was right. Only it would be a hard line of thought to explain to another person. "Yes, that's exactly it." Lilith smiled, Chris seemed to be OK with this topic and it did seem like she had reached the correct conclusion. Go Logic! "I'm not as sure as you are though that it will resolve, though. How does something like this just undo itself? The colliding itself was unbelievable, yeah, but just splitting back apart seems even less likely to me." Lilith thought about this, comparing it to collisions in the early years of the solar system. "There's a theory that when the earth was forming it collided with another planet and fused, part of the planet becoming the moon. If that is the case with the collision, then you just need to find a way to breach the distance. Otherwise you could consider that there is someone who is now with your family and doesn't know what is going on, just like you. A counterpart from the other worlds. In which case you search is slightly more difficult because there is something in common between you two that you need to identify to help. At least those are two theories."[/b] Lilith said, looking down at her feet. If she was wrong then Lilith was going to be rather embarrassed. "College for us is four years. You can take more if you want a higher degree. High School and Middle School make up secondary, seven years in all. Primary has seven or eight, depending on when you were born and counting kindergarten and preschool." The student listened carefully as Chris spoke about school. Kindergarten seemed like a word straight from the Germans. Child Garden. That thought made her smile. So in England they had twelve years in School and College, while in America it appeared that they had fourteen. Then it was Uni, or College as the Americans called it. No wonder she got a few odd looks from some of the students at University! They had no idea how she had gone to a college before and that it wasn't a university college but a college college! "Kindergarten and Preschool are before first grade. I assume you don't have that over there, kids just start in first? That would explain why you graduate so much younger." "Most of us go to Preschool, very few start at Primary School first. We start University at 18 or older. Secondary School is the last school you have to go to, or had to. I think College or Apprenticeship is now compulsory. Secondary School ends when most are 16."[/b] Lilith said, fascinated at how different things where. "I can't remember when we start Preschool. I think it's about three or four."[/b] It was difficult to remember things like that. "Awesome. I wish you the best of luck there- I imagine that you can do it, easy." Lilith gave a soft laugh. "I'm actually not that good! I really fail at revision and doing homework. I just enjoy the subject and read around it."[/b] The student smiled. The topic moved on to how they could meet up and talk astrophysics. "Sunday's fine." That was good, Lilith could also do some of her homework and focus. "How about the city library? That's nice and quiet and public.""Sounds brilliant! I love libraries and if I don't know something, they'll have a book on it."[/b] Just then something caught Lilith's eyes. Her bag was hanging on a branch and although it had been fine the weight was pulling on the branch and a squirrel had moved along. The branch dipped and her bag slipped, beginning to fall. Leaping up, Lilith was onto another branch in seconds, but now her bag had entered free fall, gravity pulling it down, causing the object to accelerate. She didn't have time to calculate the momentum (that would involve weighing her bag and paper) and instead automatically moved to catch it. But she was balanced and the force of the bag was too great, causing forces to be exerted on her and to destroy the equilibrium she had created. In other words, Lilith lost her balance. So it was survive and let Chris know her secret or possible die. It didn't take much thought as Lilith hoped she would survive and flight would do that. The ring did the rest and she came to a stop; thankfully hidden from the people on the ground. Lilith was curled up around her bag, eyes closed, although she wasn't scared. Slowly she opened her eyes, hoping that Chris wouldn't be having a panic attack or anything like that. [/div] tags: word count: N/A muse:War of the Worlds notes:I decided to have Lilith fall, Chris can have caught her as well with his powers. Hope you don't mind. [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] "You don't seem like the lying person." Chris broke into a grin. She didn't, and he could tell that helping others was what she lived for. She hadsaid she volunteered, after all, and she was helping him immensely right now. He greatly appreciated her honest advice, more than Lilith herself would ever know. She'd make a good superhero, The thought flitted across his brain for a moment.
As he pondered what Lilith said about the worlds colliding, he scrunched up his mouth into a line. "It's not like two planets colliding physically. It's almost like, their space and time collided and became essences of each other. New York and Washington, DC were here my whole life. But one day I just woke up and Gotham City and Metropolis had risen in a single night. we felt no tremors of any kind. Also, people have changed, morphed into each other. From what I've seen so far, the dominant personality has taken over. There are yet a few, though, that escaped it, like you and me. Why are we so special? I think that's my other main question here."
"Oh, alright. You just start early. That's good; you learn faster and better at a young age. Usually by four or five we're still potty training and whatnot when we could be learning our basic skills." It was true. Things moms taught their babies would be remembered for the rest of the child's life, but stuff taught in a classroom in sixth grade and up would be forgotten within months, or when Semester tests were over. The younger one got their degree, the better off you were- usually. There were many other factors that contributed to that, not just circumstances, though that was one of the most important.
"I'm actually not that good! I really fail at revision and doing homework. I just enjoy the subject and read around it." It was Chris's turn to be surprised. He almost dropped his jaw, but caught himself just in time to save his decency. "Really?" This was more of a statement than a question. I would have never had thought that. I still think you can do it though." He did. Someone like Lilith who was feisty, spunky, smart, and caring wasn't just going to be passed over. She would have an illustrious future, full of success and discovery. Christopher would bet a fortune that he didn't have on it.
He had thought that it would be perfect, too. He loved the library a lot, and spent a lot of time there reading, doing research, and using the wifi. Sunday was the day he and his family often spent all day there. "Cool. Sounds good. I'll probably be hanging around there all day anyway, so don't bother about setting a ---" He watched her reach up to get her bag, and he instantly guessed what was going to happen. Her center of gravity shifted suddenly, and in horror Chris watched Lilith fall, bag and all. There was no time to think. Clutching his shirt, with a simple thought the Darkhawk armor appeared in his stead. Launching himself from his branch he made a desperate attempt to perform an immediate catch. The thought never crossed his mind about what she might think- she needed help, and he wouldn't fail her, no matter what. Yet for all his reflex speed he didn't beat the blue glow. A ring, that Chris hadn't noticed before, glowed and sent an aura around Lilith, suspending her in mid-air. Chris gave a gasp, bounding down a couple branches to where she was just hanging, stuck in a fetal position. "Are you OK?" the sound of The Darkhawk's voice, a monotonous yet poweful baritone, rose to his ears. "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this."

But everything seemed fine, apart from the fact that Chris was no longer himself. "Are you OK?" Lilith nodded and uncurled herself and flew back up onto her branch before landing. She still clutched her bag. "Pesky squirrels," |
[/b] She said, giving a small laugh, before searching for somewhere too hang her bag. "My bag just got a bit too heavy and a squirrel on the branch seemed to have let the branch bend too far."[/b] She was talking casually, but it was just a way to calm her nerves. Life or serious injury/death situations seemed to put people on the edge for a few seconds for some reason. Lilith decided to keep hold of her bag and turned her attention to the different Chris. It appeared to be some sort of armour and moved her head to look at him frm the left, then the front and then the right. Curious eyes flickered over the form. Then she slowly reached out and patted the head to give the armour a test. It seemed strong, she couldn't feel any warth from a human form. Could Chris fit in it? The student frowned and then sat back. "I would still feel politer if I gave you a time. What about if we meet at four or three? Three thirty? That would give time for luncheon."[/b] Lilith said, moving to sit back now that she had examined the new Chris. "And with the colliding of the two universes, it should be simple enough to compare it to smaller events. A lot of small things can be blown up, like subatomic wormholes. Oh, and back in England we got Londonium. But without the Romans. As well as our London."[/b] Lilith had found that rather amusing. But now back to the Chris that was different. "I assume that you have some late nights as well? Although I generally have late nights going around with blankets and soup."[/b] Lilith commented. [/div] tags: Open!
