Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Jason didn't have too bad a day. Not bad at all. Of course he hadn't really slept either. He had spent all night waiting for Mr. Freeze to return to his warehouse hideout. But it was worth it. He now had a PDA full of info on that deranged, psychopathic clown. Plus info on the Arkham breakout. He also got to kill a rapist and two murderers. He called that a great day. But he couldn't help but feel bad for Victor Fries. The poor guy. Contained to his suit and so often forced to do evil villainous acts because deranged maniacs use his wife as a bargaining chip. Now she had been taken but no one was calling on him. The whole situation filled him with anger and sorrow with fustration. Then there was his rage. Rage towards the Joker. He was closer now. Not too close. But he was certainly closer. He could feel the revenge boiling. This man had to pay for what he had done. For the graveyard he's filled. For the friends he had crippled. For the thousands that he has made suffered. He could only imagine how much worse the Joker was going to be now that the universes had collided. His playground just got a lot bigger and in no possible way could that be good at all. In fact it meant a lot of bad things were on the horizon and he knew Batman and the other superheroes weren't willing to finish it once and for all. But Jason was. He is what Gotham needs. Or at least that was his perspective.
Now Jason found himself in local Starbucks at around six pm. He knew that he had a lot of work to do and he wasn't going to be able to sleep much. He needed some coffee. He needed it to stay awake or god forbid the villains ran rampant around Gotham while he snoozed off. He was wearing a brown leather jacket unzipped over a black t-shirt that was sligthly tight to his skin showing his built body which was at peak physical condition. He wore faded jeans that went with his outfit. Jason's black hair was slightly long but short at the same time only reaching halfway down his forehead at parts. He also sported his usual stubble that suited his face very well. He looked up as he was addressed by the clerk. He ordered his coffee and after a minute it was brought to him. He paid up before walking over to a table. He took a sip before rubbing his eyes with the opposite hand. He had deep set brown eyes that were expressful and deep, but always held a story of pain in them. Looking in them it could be seen he'd seen a lot in his life time. Jason sighed as he thought of all the information again.

The day felt like it had dragged itself out on purpose. Skylar hadn’t gotten home until gone 3AM that morning and had managed to get a small amount of sleep before being up and showered at at the office for an 8:30 AM meeting. She really needed to find out who was scheduling her meetings and tell them that she would not be talking to anyone before 10AM. She had been in an out of meetings for the rest of the morning and the afternoon had been spent watching a presentation set up by the viral sector of the company. Skylar had never been so glad to see the back of the building when she had walked out the doors at six.
Her heels clicked across the sidewalk as she made her way over to starbucks. A good cup of strong coffee was what she needed to keep her going. Tonight, she would make sure that she was home earlier. As long as nothing went wrong she didn’t see why that wasn’t possible. Pushing the door open to the shop, Skylar let the smell of coffee and the chatter of people hit her as she went over to the counter to order. Amongst the hum of chat, Sky was feeling a mound of other things.
She took in a deep breath and tried to surpress the rush of feelings that were around her. Happiness. Greed. Anxiety. With a bit of extra effort she could drain it all out. This was the other reason a decent night’s sleep was needed. Sky didn’t want to know what people felt unless she decided it was needed. Something was not leaving her though. There was the feeling of anger. Not the usual type that she was used to when people had had a bad day or just had an argument. This was red hot. Skylar took a look around the place subtly before her eyes landed on a guy who was rubbing his eyes.
”Thanks,” she said as she was handed her coffee. She moved over towards the man and took a seat near his table. ”You look about as fed up as I feel.” Skylar said with a small smile. She added some sugar to the large mug in front of her. Anger that bad was never a good sign. She knew that from personal experience. Sky just wanted to make sure this guy wasn’t going to cause any harm to himself or anyone else.

Jason heard a girls voice but he originally figured that no one would be addressing him. Afterall, he tried to keep his Jason Todd presence to a minimal. Afterall, he had grown up in Gotham and he was supposed to be dead. And contrary to the conspiracy theories dead men are supposed to stay that way, not get up and walk again. But he had. He fifteen when he was murdered. To him it felt like an endless eternity. Then Jason realizes as he took a sip of his coffee that the girl had been talking to him. He should've practiced some manners. "Tell me about it," Jason said taking another sip letting it settle in on his tongue for a moment. He made a slight face at the coffee. "Never really like the taste," he said before taking another sip, "But whatever keeps you awake ya know?"
Jason hadn't talked to anyone other than criminals and a small encounter with Mr. Freeze. It would be good to get some social interaction in. He just didn't feel like being recognized and then everyone freaking out about how he was, well, alive. On the contrary, je also felt no one would really care if Jason Todd came back to life. Sure if Ronald Reagan came back to life everyone would be all over it. But Jason was nothing more than a young boy from the slums who was adopted by a billonaire and later murdered. He didn't have a family and the closest man to family he ever had didn't seem to waste much time replacing him.
He had heard a lot about the new Robin. Even that he was supposedly a better Robin than he had been. Jason didn't have much of a hard time believing that. He had managed to stay alive afterall. Not to mention even Jason knew how impatient and reckless he had been back then. But he had learned from his msitakes and took much time to perfect much of it. Jason moved his mind to the matter at hand though. Most people didn't bother with Jason. He wondered why the girl was talking to him. Perhaps she was like Dick and was simply a chatty person.

Her bag now lay at her feet and Skylar stuck the spoon into her coffee to make sure it had all dissolved. She shrugged off the suit jacket and put it on the chair behind her to reveal a white shirt. Still pretty crisp considering the day she had had. Skylar offered him a smile as he replied to her. Raising the coffee cup she took a long sip letting the liquid run down her. Glancing over at him she noticed the face he pulled and gave a small laugh. ”So, was it a late night or a long day?” Skylar asked him.
So far he didn’t seem like he was any major threat. But she hadn’t stopped her empathy. If she really wanted to Sky could have attempted to control his emotions. To cross the boundary and help calm him down. That wasn’t her style though. She would only ever do that in the most dire situations. For example a few weeks ago as she was making her way home after pilfering from an old business partner she had sensed fear, desperation and anxiety and went to check it out. That night had been a long one as she stepped in to stop someone from committing suicide.
Skylar took another sip from her cup before leaning over and offering him her hand. It was bare and as her shirt sleeve rode up slightly the beginning of her tattoo could be seen. ”Skylar Winters.” she introduced herself to him. Regardless of what people were feeling Sky had a habit of introducing herself to people when they exchanged a few words. She felt like it was impolite not to. And right now Sky was hoping she could share more than a few words with him just so she could figure him out and have peace of mind. The last thing Sky needed was to have crap focus when she was out tonight.

"Try both," Jason responded. It was true. From waiting for Mr. Freeze to show up to fighting crime he hadn't slept in about a day and a half. Possibly even two days. It was unhealthy. He remembered how Bruce was. With the dedication to his work. Jason understood that now more than ever. But Bruce could never kill the villains. No, it wasn't him. And because of that Jason had died, Batgirl wound up crippled, graveyards were filled and thousands of lives were ruined. All because Batman couldn't pass that line and kill the Joker when he had the chance. All the times he had the chance.
Jason began to drink his coffee again before he noticed the woman reaching her hand across towards him as she introduced herself. Jason really needed to get a secret identity of someone who wasn't supposed to dead. It would make moments like this a lot easier. "Jason," he said shaking the girls hand, "Jason Todd." Jason let go as he returned to his coffee. "So Skyler," Jason said after a long gulp of the coffee, "What brings you to the darkest part of the world? Most people don't stay in Gotham if they can, unless they've got family or something." Jason had seen many people leave Gotham when he was younger. No one in their right minds wanted to live in this hell hole. But Jason was going to change that. This was his city. And he was going to clean it up one way or another.
Jason looked at the News Paper the last person had left on his table. He turned to the cover. Wow, he made the headlines again. Suppose that's what happens when you kill a known murdering serial rapist mob boss and his two guards while they were about to hurt someone. People like that just made Jason tremble with anger. The sick-minded animals. Raping wifes of druggies for not paying up money. Kidnapping children as ransom for the money people owes them. Killing anyone who got in their way. It was just plain wrong. Sure plenty of people said what he did was no better than murder. But at least Jason was killing bad men not innocent children and bystanders. There could be a lot worse things he could channel his anger and rage into, but he chose to at least utilize it to do what was right in his bent mentality.

Sky nodded when he said ‘try both’. Yes, he was indeed in the same boat as she was as far as their tiredness was concerned. Skylar would have advised him to sleep rather than drink coffee, but there she was not even heeding her own advice. Perhaps a nap would have been a better use of her time that drinking herself awake but it was a little late for that option now.
”It’s nice to meet you Jason.” The name sounded somewhat familiar, but Skylar couldn’t put her finger on why it did so. Hopefully it would come to her otherwise she would feel that niggling feeling in the back of her mind for a while. When he let go of her hand she took another sip from her mug. With a smile she said, ”The darkest part of the world happens to be my home.” Skylar informed him. ”I did have family here. My father died last year. I’ve taken over the business which is set up in the city.” On top of that, where was there a better place to repay her Karma. ”What about you? You don’t seem to fond of this place.” Skylar commented.
If he wasn’t the biggest fan of Gotham then what was he doing hanging around. ”Or do you have family here?” Sky asked. Surely he wasn’t just hanging around for the sake of it.

"Sorry about your dad," Jason said before taking another sip of his coffee, "Wish my dad had left me a company. Huh, all he left me was my sick step-mother." Jason listened as she asked relatively the same question. Well he couldn't say he came back from the dead and came to Gotham to kill the man who had murdered him. That wasn't believable. In fact it'd probably end up with him in a nice new straight jacket.
"Used to have family here. I was born in Gotham. My dad was murdered and my step-mother had died by the time I was ten. Left Gotham at fifteen to pursue a lead on my real mother. She shot me down. So I started travelling. I came back to pay a few old friends of mine a visit."
It was all the truth. Of course it wasn't the full truth. There was a lot more to it than that. Mostly things that had to do with deranged clowns, crowbars, warehouses, explosions, death and rebirth. Yeah he had left a lot out. Then again he would've been crazy to speak the full truth. Hell, he wondered how a court session would go with him. They probably wouldn't believe what he was saying and throw him in jail for lying to the court when he was telling the truth. "So yeah," he finished after taking another sip, "I'm not too fond of Gotham. Lots of bad memory. Littered. Filled with crime. Over half the population of Gotham is criminal. So what's your business do?"

When he apologized about her father, Skylar just brushed it off. She didn’t talk about it. It was as simple as that. They hadn’t exactly been close so there were no tears. She was only grateful to him for keeping her around and teaching her what she did know. When he said he wish his Dad had left him a company she looked into the mug infront of her. If only her father had actually left it too her she’d be leading a much simpler life now. Skylar let a sigh escape her lips before putting back on her smile and looking at Jason again.
”I’m sorry to hear about your parents.” Skylar replied politely. She had never been entirely sure on why people felt the need to apologize for bad news. It wasn’t their fault after all but it did seem to be the polite thing to do, by society’s standard. Back from travelling to visit friends sounded like a realistic thing to do. However she could also see the potential for trouble there. Although he was coming across as harmless what he was actually feeling was making her sit around and stew over a coffee. ”Did you go anywhere nice whilst travelling?”
Sky raised the mug again to take a long drink. She then shook her head, ”Things are getting better around here. It’s just taken some time.” Sky could vouch for that. Gotham was far from perfect but there were people around here that cared and were working on cleaning up streets. Putting the wrongs, right. Jason then asked about the business and Sky told him, ”We specialise in medical treatments. Vaccines, anti venoms all that sort of thing.” Sky knew little of the science behind it but she knew how to market it and what to pair it off with to make them successful.

Jason's parents had taught him some things. For instance how to boost tires from cars. Of course that wasn't a very valuable lesson for him. Of course if he hadn't learned it he never would've became Robin. He never would've met Bruce. A lot never would've happened if he hadn't to learn how to boost tires. But to him there was only one valuable lesson he learned from his parents. Don't wear you're trust on you're sleeve. He had expected his mother to greet him with open arms and happiness and instead she turned him over to the Joekr and then he killed both of them.
"It's nothing big, we were never close," Jason said before taking another sip of his drink. "Yeah," Jason answered her question, "Plenty of palces. Went all around the world." Jason listened to how she stated things were getting better. Yeah, it was getting better because of Jason. It was taking a long time before he got there because they'd jsut like the hardcore's like the Joker up only so they'd escape and do everythign over tenfold. Too many had suffered and Jason was one of them.
"That's interesting," Jason replied to what her company did. Jason himself knew of something that could cure literally anything. Afterall, he had bathed in it. It had healed him. It healed him from something that nothing else could. The Lazarus Pit. It truly was a miracle worker. He wondered why Ra's didn't simply charge others for usage in it. After all it did heal anything. That could mean a lot of money for the him and his family. Then again, they had enough money. Enough to finance his trip around the world learning from all the different masters.

Sky knew what it was like not to be close to her parents. The last time she had seen her mother had been at her father’s funeral and only a few words had been exchanged. Most of the time they had spent at opposite sides of the room, her mother tending to her brother and Skylar trying not to scream at the people who were trying to be comforting when she had just wanted them all to leave. Jason then told her that he had been around the world and a smile settled on her face. ”And you favourite destination?” Skylar travelled often. Well she had done. These days she had cut back, trying to focus more on others than herself.
When he said that the business was interesting Sky just nodded. ”It does what it has to do. It helps people. That was the core aim when it was started and that won’t change as long as I’m in charge.” But it was beginning to be a battle to stay in charge. People didn’t have the faith in a nineteen year old girl. Though she would soon sort that through her plans and if need be perhaps the short term use of her powers.
Taking another drink, Sky was feeling much better now. Not so tired, not like her face was about to hit the table. As she sat there though she wondered when she would feel comfortable to leave him. He didn’t seem the talkative sort, not like many she encountered. Then again if he was going to be sticking around she could track him down.

Jason took a moment to think about the question and the answer. Memories ran through his mind off all the different places he had been. Some were beautiful others scary others decent. Then again nothing was really scary to him compared to what he went through and no place was scary to him than Gotham. He wasn't scared by the Joker or Gotham. He wanted to face the criminal underground of Gotham head on and he wanted to bludgeon the Joker to death. "I don't know," Jason said after a long sip of his drink, "I mean plenty of the places where amazing and beautiful. They each had their ups and down but I don't think I could choose a favorite too many choices."
Helping people. Sometimes the words were foreign to him. He had met few people in his life time that were willing to just help others without something in return or without some sort of catch. Jason was out to help people. To stop their deaths and other horrible things that would happen to them if he didn't do what he did. Of course, plenty of people didn't think he was doing good by Gotham. Regardless of that, he knew what he was doing and he also knew that somethings couldn't solved by putting others behind bars. The reason he was after Joker and the other criminals wasn't simply for a vendetta but to protect all the others they'd hurt and to avenge all those they've caused suffering to.
"Good thing you're in charge then," Jason said. It was true. He was glad people were getting help from someone other than him. Afterall, Batman wasn't much help on the account he locked criminals up solely for them to escape again. It was a pyramid game and Jason was ready to come down on it and end it for good.

Skylar watched him carefully from the corner of her eye as she added another sugar to the cup in front of her. Coffee was wonderful when it was sweetened so much that you could taste the granules of sugar with each sip. Emptying the packet she then picked up the spoon and gave it a good stir. There wasn’t much left and she would have to slow her pace of drinking if she wanted some more time to figure Jason out. Skylar then nodded at his answer. A bit vague but understandable. ”Everything has its pros and cons.” Every decision someone made, every place they visited. It was all about balance, or at least that was what Skylar believed.
The coffee was indeed sugary now and Skylar could taste the pure sugar granules that entered her mouth during the sip. ”Yeah, well I just need to keep it that way.” At this rate, the lack of sleep and the close calls she was having these days someone was going to find out about what she was up to. Now, Skylar wasn’t worried about the normal people she encountered. What she worried about were the people who had gotten out of Arkham. How handy would it be to them to have someone on side who could control emotion. That was her primary reason for staying quiet. Sky looked to him and said, ”You should swing by and see the building since your sticking around.” It meant that she had more time with him on another day to see if his anger was a one day thing or something deeper.

Skylar seemed to understand the pros and cons bit. Jason knew that almost everything had a pro and a con. When he was caught boosting the wheels off the batmobile when he was young it was bad because he had been caught and got in trouble. Yet it was great because he was adopted and became Robin and gained the father figure he had never had growing up. He certainly owed a lot to Bruce. But then again, Bruce hadn't even avenged him. Instead he let his own guilt and antiquated sense of morality blind him from the truth. The only way to stop the Joker was to kill him. Of course this was all Jasons perspective, his opinion, not fact. Jason was stone set in that opinion. Nothing could change his opinion on the Joker and what was needed to be done.
Then came the offer. No one had been like this to him since his rebirth. Hell, the only people that had really ever been like that to him was Bruce and Talia. Bruce had taken him in. Talia had worked so hard to bring him back. Nursed him to health. Never gave up on him. It was more than anything anyone had done for him. She and her father even funded his training around the world. Jason was a bit taken aback by the offer as he was not used to such things. Of course, he didn't let this show in his face. It was strange. Someone being nice to him for a change. Of course, he didn't really get out much. His hours as Red Hood far outweighed that as Jason Todd. Afterall, Jason Todd was supposed to be buried ten feet under ground in the Wayne cemetary next to Bruce Wayne's parents. "Okay," he responded, "When?"

She leaned back against her chair and from some brief moments, closed her eyes. If Sky had not believed in Karma her life would be very different. Heck, her life would be very different if she had been born a normal child. There had been plenty of times where it had been on the tip of her tongue in the labs. ‘Fix me.’ Sometimes that was all she wanted, to find out what was wrong with her and have it fixed. And then she thought over what she did for people in Gotham. She knew that the smiles she saw and the hope in people’s eyes made her go back. Perhaps Sky was already too far into a role that was only meant to be temporary to truly want to be changed now.
When Jason asked when, Sky had opened her eyes and gave him a smile. ”Whenever your free really.” Sky told him. She could clear up her schedule and happily show him around the building. Part of Sky hoped that he wasn’t planning any trouble. Jason couldn’t have been much older than herself and maybe, if he wasn’t going to be a problem, she could actually befriend him. That would be sorted later though. ”Just let me know what time is good for you and I’ll be happy to meet up and show you around.” Usually those who came to the building were ushered around by other members of staff but Skylar would deal with Jason personally.

Anytime? That seemed pretty convenient to Jason. Perhaps even a bit too convenient. A business leader usually didn't have a ot of time to spare, nevermind giving a tour of the facility to a randdom guy they met over coffee. Jason had learned just how little time business leaders had when he was living with Bruce. The man had gotten little sleep ever due to his second life as Batman. Jason usually had plenty of sleep. Or at least plenty of sleep compared to someone who lived two lives. He himself had one life: Red Hood. Of course, Jason Todd still existed, but not to society. He had no identity to truly keep secret as his own actual death already did that part.
"I'm free in two days," Jason said after taking the last sip of his coffee. Jason was glad to be interacting with others. He had forgotten what it was like. But he was still curious about the situation. It just . . . didn't feel right that a business schedule could be cleared so fast and easily. And for someone they barely knew. Jason would have to keep his guard up while he was there. He didn't need anything happening. He wondered if this was some sort of cover up or something. He had heard of a government thing from the new universe known as S.H.E.I.L.D. perhaps she was one of them. What if she was from the other dimension. It would definitely explain why she didn't know the name Jason Todd. It would explain how she could easily clean her schedule for him. She might've been undercover. Perhaps S.H.E.I.L.D. had heard about Red Hood and they found out it was him.
