"Victory is MINE Baldy!
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Kent has quite short hair, and just a hint of stubble. His hair is a rich, youthful brown colour, with just a hint of grey in there. His hair has been messed up from constant removal and putting on of the helmet.
Eyes: Kent's eyes are a light shade of grey, and are quite narrow. As Fate, they glow white.
Height: 5'11
Weight: 171 lbs
Distinguishing Marks: Nope. Nada. Zilch
Appearance: Kent is old, and looks the part. His face is fraught with wrinkles and laugh lines. He has quite distinctive facial hair. He has quite a lithe, and narrow frame, for an old man. His back is slightly hunched due to age, and as such, he holds a cane. These restrictions are removed as Doctor Fate. He wears silver glasses as Kent.
In terms of clothing, Kent wears a very smart black suit, complete with a black bow-tie. As Doctor Fate, his whole ensemble is topped off by the helmet of Nabu. He wears a deep royal blue armoured suit, adorned with a great golden neck lining. His boots and gloves are gold as well, as his his belt. The Amulet of Anubis and Cloak of Destiny hang around his neck, giving the effect of a great sweeping wizard.

-Doing good
-The Justice League
-Reminiscing about the old days
Dislikes: (at least five)
-Dark Magic
-Trigon, and by extent, his children and cultists
-Not being able to see his own future
-Crime, and the people who commit them
-The general bad points of modern-day society
Personality: More than anything, except maybe his wife, Kent likes to reminisce about the old days. The REALLY old days. He likes the finer things in life; cigars, brandy and velvet smoking jackets, though his first love will always be his darling Inza. In all reality, he seems to be a stuffy old man. Yet, he is actually quite caring for those around him. Call it him trying to deviate from the spirit of Nabu the nihilist's lessons.
He fights a constant battle with insanity. The visions have pushed his mind to the edge. This makes him a little snippy at times. He attributes that to being at least double the age of any middle-aged man. Like any self-respecting grumpy old man, he doesn't like what this generation has come up with (Looking at you, Bieber!), and takes it upon himself to inject a bit of his generation into this one.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers: Doctor Fate possesses formidable magical abilities. The limit of his powers are unknown, but he has demonstrated the ability to fly, create portals to and from different locations, teleport himself and other objects, commune with spirits, project his astral form, cast illusions, read minds, project energy pulses, transmute matter, and, as his name suggests, incredibly powerful clairvoyance. His clairvoyance allows him to see the future of anyone on the mortal plane, with the exception of himself. Whenever Kent wears the helmet, he has a telepathic link with the spirit of Nabu, who advises him on how best to use his power.
Weapons
Helmet of Nabu-the centerpiece of his costume. The helmet grants Fate his nearly unlimited magical abilities, shows him visions of the future, and provides a telepathic link with Nabu's spirit
Amulet of Anubis-A golden medallion attached to Fate's cape. It can be used to banish otherworldly presences to the Netherworld
Cloak of Destiny-The golden cloak imbues the wearer with a high durability threshold and the ability to fly
Strengths/Abilities:
Even without the helmet, Kent is a powerful sorceror in his own right.
As he is over 106 years old, Kent has a great knowledge of history during the time he has been alive.
He worked for the government once, so he has plenty of government secrets stored in his mind.
Weaknesses:
Kent's mind is constantly on the verge of insanity, due to the constant stream of visions of the future from the helmet. What makes it even worse, is that he cannot see his own future.
Where he has skill in magic, he lacks in the actual combat department. He is terrible at any sort of close combat style, preferring, in his own words, "helmets to haymakers".

the sanest man alive to lunacy,"

History:
Doctor Fate's story begins millenia ago. In ancient Egypt, the wizard Nabu battled a dark wizard for the fate of the world. In the midst of battle, he was gravely wounded and transported to the Valley of Ur. To save himself, he merged with the Aether and became the first Lord of Order, a warden against the etherial forces for darkness. Unfortunately, this meant that he was unable to hold a physical presence without an anchor point for his spirit. To that end, he tied his essence to his battle helmet, and would use a human host to enact his will.
Centuries later, Kent Nelson was born to a British archaeologist in Metropolis. Young Kent wasn't exactly keen to follow in daddy's footsteps. He would have rather been a writer than an archaeologist. Writing enthralled him much more. In an effort to change his mind, Kent's father took him to the valley of Ur in Mesopotamia, to explore a recently uncovered tomb. Kent mistakenly set off a trap that opened a coffin inside the tomb, but also released a poisonous white gas that claimed the life of his father. Kent would have suffered the same fate, were it not for the resurrected corpse of the last host of Nabu, who forced the helmet onto Kent, transforming him into the next host of Nabu's consciousness: Doctor Fate.
Kent served as Doctor Fate's conduit for almost a decade, during which he did not age. This was undone when a follower of the powerful demon Trigon, known as Brother Blood, stole the helmet, leaving Kent vulnerable. Fortunately, some of Nabu's knowledge had "bled" into his own mind, and he was able to retrieve the helmet from the demon, and banished it to the Nether. Nabu's consciousness seemed to recess from the helmet, allowing Kent to remain in control whenever he became Doctor Fate, though Nabu still offers guidance through telepathic whispers.
Fate became of the inaugural members of the Justice Society of America in the late 50s, becoming a member of one of the world's first superhero teams. The JSA was disbanded in the 1980s to make way for yet another project. Kent went his own way and settled down for a bit, marrying Inza Nelson, another sorceress. Together, they constructed a magical tower in Metropolis as their home, where Kent could continue his work as Fate. Recently, he became part of the Justice League.

Writing Sample:
It had literally appeared out of nowhere, and it was devouring any humans unfortunate enough to be caught in its tentacles. It was so preoccupied with feasting, it didn't notice the large ankh shape appear right in front of it, closely followed by Doctor Fate.
"In the name of the Lords of Order, I command you to stop!" Fate shouted, his voice magically magnified so that even an Eldritch Abomination would be able to hear it, and notice him. It didn't work, and the monster continued to attack the fleeing crowd.
"So be it." Kent said, thrusting his palm at the monster's eye. The shape of an Ankh, the signature of Nabu, glowed for a second, but was eclipsed by a rush of golden energy, that struck the monster right in the eye. A monstrous roar went up that could be heard for miles around as the abomination put a tentacle over its eye.
"Leave this plane." Kent said again. "Return to the shadows, spawn of Chaos." What he did next was far more astounding than a bolt of magic. He drew back his hand, gathering as much magic as he could muster into his palm, and threw it at the abomination. It missed, but that was part of the plan. The bolt stopped behind the abomination, and expanded into a great portal, leading to nothing but a fiery pit, filled with similar creatures. A great wind began to blow through Chinatown, strong enough to lift the abomination off the ground and send it flying towards the portal. Enough to send it inside. The portal closed once this was done.
Kent vanished into the Ankh shape again, reappearing in his bedroom. Removing the helmet and setting it by the bowling bag, he was drawn into a hug by Inza.
The Lord of Order had triumphed again.
