Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

With this raspy, breathy response Chris became aware of his rapidly-beating heart and hyperventilation. Man, that fall of hers had given him a scare. His friend had almost gotten hurt. with a conscious effort he began the process of calming himself down.
He felt a bit strange as she began to look the armor over, and tapped the helmet once or twice. "Erm- this is the Darkhawk suit. I found it a while ago and have had it ever since. It's alien. I can shift between it and my human self with an amulet I wear around my neck." He tapped the diamond emblem on his chest, signalling to her that it looked like that. "It would probably help lots of astrophysicists if it got handed over to them. It's suited for space travel, nearly indestructable, etcetera." Sometimes this was an awkward topic for him and he wouldn't talk about it much, but he trusted Lilith to this little tidbit of information.
"Three-thirty would be fine. We're usually done eating the bag lunch my mom brings along by then." Feeling his way back onto his branch, Chris concentrated on the amulet again and shifted back to himself. He didn't like to stay in that form long when he didn't have a reason to. It was a bit awkward. Plus he liked to talk one-on-one with someone in his real voice. He reached into his shirt and pulled out the amulet, attached to his neck by a long silver chain. If she wanted to look at it, she could. ”Yeah, I suppose it can be explained normally. I must just be overreacting. It’s so odd that nothing like this ever happened before. It really makes one wonder, what next.”
As much as he hated to admit it, he knew exactly what she meant by late nights. ”Yeah. They’ve been every night for the past few months.” He said sheepishly. ”And none of that’s been blankets and soup, though it probably should be.” "Chris will speak like this." "Lilith will speak like this." "Others will speak like this."

"Yeah. Squirrels can be annoying, I have to admit." Lilith smiled. "You should see what they are like back home. The red squirrels have been chased up to Scotland because of the grey squirrels." Lilith did have feelings about that, although she would not agree that the grey squirrels should killed as some said. There had to be a more peaceful way. "Erm- this is the Darkhawk suit. I found it a while ago and have had it ever since. It's alien. I can shift between it and my human self with an amulet I wear around my neck."Lilith examined the emblem which Chris had taped, blue eyes lookiing over it with interest. "I haven't seen it before but I don't do much in space." |
[/b] Lilith said, she was more suited to helping others and trying to give them hope. "It would probably help lots of astrophysicists if it got handed over to them. It's suited for space travel, nearly indestructable, etcetera.""Probably more useful than my ring for study. I've tried to figure out the scientific methods but it is rather complicated."[/b] Lilith commented. Studying physics was something she enjoyed and during the nights of helping there was time to wonder about such things. "Three-thirty would be fine. We're usually done eating the bag lunch my mom brings along by then.""Three-thirty it is. So just in the local library then?"[/b] Lilith checked. She didn't know if there was another library that Chris would prefer to go to. After all, it appeared that they were both capable of travelling quite far. Chris had turned back to normal, and Lilith had lost the blue glow since landing, so now they both looked like normal teenagers. ”Yeah, I suppose it can be explained normally. I must just be overreacting. It’s so odd that nothing like this ever happened before. It really makes one wonder, what next.”To be fair, Lilith had started examining the amulet, carefully holding it in her hands before sheepishly letting go. "You don't mind, do you? And odd things will happen and then they will get resolved. It's just the way things go."[/b] She said, offering a smile. ”Yeah. They’ve been every night for the past few months. And none of that’s been blankets and soup, though it probably should be.” Lilith cocked her head thoughtfully as she considered this. "Want to share night time duties? I wouldn't mind company and I love to help others. I'm not too good at anything but the soup and blankets."[/b] She smiled, brightly. Anything to help and company would be welcome. Lilith hadn't really made any friends in America and her mother would be glad that Lilith was socialising properly again.[/div] tags: Open! [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] Squirrels. They had always been one of Chris's favorite creatures though yes, they could be a pain in the rear end sometimes. At Lilith's comment about the Squirrels back at her home, Chris's memory bank recalled reading an article about that a while ago. Nothing like the squirrels here, he had thought at the time. "They don't have a problem with each other here." Chris shrugged. "Maybe it's the feeling of brotherly love and liberty." Chris's sarcastic tone and half-smile returned. He hadn't even assumed here that her abilities were space-related, so he learned a little something there too. His eyebrows went up a fraction of an inch. She also mentioned something about a ring. The one on her right, he thought. The last of the blue was fading from it. He was pretty curious about what it was all about, but decided not to pry any more than he had to; after all, she wasn't either. "Can't be any more complicated than this thing is. Sometimes I think it's magic that makes it run, though there's probably some logical principle behind it. I've never met a more logical person than the elder alien."
"Yep, the one just a few blocks away, that way." Chris pointed to the south, and his little map-in-his-head set to work, thinking of the path, the cars you passed usually, and the sidewalk conditions. (Just to show, that he had lived here for that long of a time). Just a bit to the South was the library on ninth. A pretty much easy walk or drive from here.
Without really meaning to, he leaned forward a little to allow her to handle the amulet without worrying about choking him. "Not at all." She didn't need to treat it as gingerly as she was (he was never that careful with it himself), but that was fine. He trusted her fully now. "Odd things will happen and then they will get resolved. It's just the way things go." "Got that right." Chris cocked an eyebrow and dropped his gaze to the ground far below, shaking his head. "The only thing predictable, as they say, is unpredictability."
"Want to share night time duties? I wouldn't mind company and I love to help others. I'm not too good at anything but the soup and blankets." Chris perked up. "Sure. I would be glad to." Better get some community service hours in, and there was no better way than doing the night-on-the-streets kind of thing. Plus, a friend! Hooray![style=width:270px; height:50px; padding:15px; background-color:FFFFFF; margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:5px; text-align:center; text-transform:uppercase; font-family:baskerville; font-style:italic; text-shadow:2px 2px 2px #000; font-size:11px; line-height:11px; letter-spacing:2px; color:darkblue; overflow:auto]"Chris will speak like this." "They don't have a problem with each other here." Her thoughts returning to squirrels, Lilith grinned, thinking about the way they acted at times and their brightness. "Maybe it's the feeling of brotherly love and liberty." Missing the sarcasim, Lilith took the thing seriously and gave a serious answer. "Aren't there only grey squirrels in America? In England we have our natives and those imported from America. It's that which is causing the problems." |
[/b] She explained, after giving the thing some thought. "Can't be any more complicated than this thing is. Sometimes I think it's magic that makes it run, though there's probably some logical principle behind it. I've never met a more logical person than the elder alien." Listening to Chris's words about the subject, the student examined the symbol and thought about the reason behind it. "Well, there are some magic based superheroes and its always good to keep one's mind open to other posibilities."[/b] Lilith shrugged, she believed in magic and science although some people could not understand that. "Yep, the one just a few blocks away, that way." As the library was decided, the student gave a nod to show that she understood. Handiling the amulet with care, Lilith lightly touched the surfaces, taking in the details. But there did not appear to be anything that she could gleam from it. "The only thing predictable, as they say, is unpredictability." Lilith smiled at that, considering how true that could be for inside a Black Hole before moving back to the thought of helping the general public and the poor. "Sure. I would be glad to.""Great! You will really enjoy it, I'm sure. It's usually very peaceful but the stars are often out and it's so beautiful. I love it. Fridays and Saturdays are the best for doing it."[/b][/div] tags: Open! [atrb=border,0,true][style=float:top; width:260px; height:304; background-color:silver; padding:20px] Obviously, the whole point of that (as well as the sarcasm) was lost on her. Chris got a bit of an odd look on his face. "Well- I thought we had both kinds. Reds tend to stick to the Western half of the country, and the East is gray squirrel territory. But that wasn't the point of what I was saying." Wait a minute— wasn't the European Gray squirrel the one that was causing trouble here in America? There were several old world and South American species that had been a pain in the rear end since their introduction to the States: the Python in Florida, that pig-animal, like a Capybara but not, along the Eastern seaboard, to name only a couple— but yeah, he supposed that it worked both ways. Americans were dumb enough to introduce native species to Europe, and vice versa, which caused problems everywhere. Still, many species survived on native soil, and so all was well.
"Well, there are some magic based superheroes and its always good to keep one's mind open to other posibilities." Chris nodded, and gave an mmhmm of affirmation. He, too, believed in Magic and Science, but also believed that the two held a special relationship somehow. Someday in the future man would find a way to explain magic using science, and reveal that it would be linked. But, there would pop up endless new kinds of the former that would still baffle the human race. As for magic-based superheroes, though he hadn't really met any yet, he imagined they were out there. Lilith, for all he knew, could be a magic-based hero though she wasn't sure that she was. "Letting your imagination roam while keeping your feet on the ground factually is something I try to do, but it's just tough sometimes. Magic seems so impossible or extraordinary that it's hard not to forget the logic behind it and let it frazzle your brain."
Hopefully she wouldn't find it too hard to locate this place again and make her way to the Library from there, or find it another way. As he let her inspect the amulet, he suddenly became aware of her slender fingers close to him. Taking a short, fast breath out, he calmed his rapidly-beating heart, and steeled himself from pulling away. He wasn't completely sure why he was so nervous all of a sudden, but he was. Perhaps, it was because she was the most beautiful person he had ever met. Not on the outside, necessarily, but inside she had this light that shone in and out. Maybe... He'd ask her on a date or something at the library. If he could work up the courage, that is. Your bad luck, she'd be lesbian or something. A little voice in the back of his head said. Pondering over that possibility, it just made him even more uncomfortable. So in an attempt to restore his mental composure, he forced the subject out of his head altogether.
"Great! You will really enjoy it, I'm sure. It's usually very peaceful but the stars are often out and it's so beautiful. I love it. Fridays and Saturdays are the best for doing it." "I don't doubt it." Chris's ever-present smile was back. In the past he did have the opportunity to work with some poor and homeless people, with a church group, but probably not in the way the Lilith was going to have him help with whenever they planned to meet. "When should we do that? I'm free pretty much any evening, Fridays and Saturdays included." Chris made a mental note to get more sleep in the next few weeks, so he could be ready to legitimately stay up late, not lie to his mom like he had been the last three months. [style=width:270px; height:50px; padding:15px; background-color:FFFFFF; margin-top:10px; margin-bottom:5px; text-align:center; text-transform:uppercase; font-family:baskerville; font-style:italic; text-shadow:2px 2px 2px #000; font-size:11px; line-height:11px; letter-spacing:2px; color:darkblue; overflow:auto]"Chris will speak like this."
