Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Wait. Did she? She seemed to be looking at him rather intently, as though she were waiting for him to say or do something. Considering they had only just met and she knew nothing about him, it seemed very strange.
Actually, she hadn’t asked him much about his ring, or what it could normally do- it seemed like she understood that his ring was out of power. He supposed that it could just have been because she was a fan of Green Lanterns in general. Thanks to Hal being a dunderhead and flying around like some kind of super hero, the corps did have quite a few fans on earth. It didn’t seem unlikely, or impossible, that she would know some things about the ring without them being said or further explained. But she had no interest at all. Fans would at least ask to see something or ask SOME kind of question about things.
It was… all a little suspicious. The hope thing coming up constantly was really the most glaring thing in the situation.
Frowning, he observed the other a moment, looking for her ring to see if she had one on her. But if she did have a ring, she wasn’t wearing it at that moment. Strange, to willingly take off a ring and choose not to use its power. He and Hal, and most lanterns, always wore their rings. It was the best way to always be ready for duty. However, he knew some who didn’t like to wear their rings all the time. People like Carol, who seemed to hate their own power. Something he would never understand. Maybe hope lanterns were just too peaceful to need their rings on all the time. More often than not, they were useless in a fight anyway.
She asked about his ring again, and he shook his head. “No, it’s alright. My leg will heal in its own time. Or it won’t. Nothing can be done about it. But you could charge my ring if you’d like.” He wondered what her response would be. If she was a blue lantern, she must not have been one for very long- it was a point of pride for him to know members from every corps, even if they didn’t want him learning about them.
He liked to keep up with the people he might eventually have to fight.

Looking down at her homework, Lilith re-read the first few lines. “You sound like a Blue Lantern,” Lilith had to keep her head down now as she was grinning at that. It seemed that talking about hope did give Sinestro a suggestion that she was a Blue Lantern. Although it was just 'sound like', not actually one. Maybe more hints were needed... What other hints could she drop? A knowledge of rings that was beyond the normal? Bitting the lid of her pen, Lilith was thoughtful although it as not on her homework. What could she say next. Maybe simply not asking what a Blue Lantern was would be a good enough tip? Her ring was in her bag and Lilith's hand moved towards it for a second, wondering whether she should just take it out and put it on as the biggest possible hint. “No, it’s alright. My leg will heal in its own time. Or it won’t. Nothing can be done about it. But you could charge my ring if you’d like.” Delight spread across the student's face as Sinestro came to the correct conclusion. This experiment was done (although he should really test more Lanterns if she was to do this properly) and she had results. "It was the talk of hope that tipped you off, wasn't it?" |
[/b] Lilith checked, wondering if it might have been anything else. It was useful to know these sorts of things. Lightly, she slipped her hand into her bag and put the ring on. Hopefully she would be able to charge Sinestro's ring. She had never charged a Green Lantern ring before. But she was hoping that Sinestro would recover. "I've never met a Green Lantern before,"[/b] Lilith said, making casual conversation as she looked around the park. With the children gone it seemed so empty. "You sure I can't do anything to help your leg? Wait, should I call you Sir, Sinestro or Green Lantern?"[/b] The girl had been taught at school to call her elders 'sir or miss' and it was something that Lilith had not grown out of. So would Sinestro be called 'Sir'? It was polite... but then he was a Green Lantern... still, he had given his name as Sinestro... there were so many things to consider, Lilith thought, cheerfully.[/div] tags: Sinestro word count: ??? muse: Lion King notes: None Though BRY made this table, all the credit goes to RAVEN for the idea! :D[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

Somehow, though, I suppose I lost my focus.” It might have been because he had been dealing with all the children. It was hard to want to focus on fears when their were children around- they were frightened of so many things. IT was like fear over load, with the fears being more annoying than anything else. While he liked children for their innocence, their fear of every single new thing made it difficult to want to be around them for extended periods of time.
They were also pretty loud.
She said she had never met a Green Lantern before, and he nodded. “That’s fine. I didn’t even know there was a blue lantern from earth. So you’re pretty much a surprise to me, as well.” Unless she wasn’t from earth. A lot of other planets seemed to have human-looking beings that were actually aliens. However, it seemed like he wasn’t wrong- there was nothing about her that screamed she was from another world. His ring hadn’t notified him of any special energies or powers. It seemed like she was pretty normal. If you didn’t count the whole ‘blue lantern’ thing, anyway.
“You may call me Sinestro,” he told her, though he had taken a moment to truly think about it. Having someone call him ‘sir’ again hadn’t seemed like a completely bad idea. Ah well. “And… no, there’s really nothing you can do about my leg. I’m not saying it just to be tough- I wouldn’t mind you healing it. Unfortunately, there’s some kind of curse on me, which makes it impossible for any kind of energy to heal my wounds. It will have to heal on its own.” He shrugged his shoulders, not sounding particularly upset about what had happened to him. Being a cripple was something he had already resigned himself to. But it wasn’t like he was going to let it slow him down.
He was not one to dwell too much on the past.
“Just hold your ring up.” He moved his ring up as well, using it channel power and draw strength from the blue lantern’s ring. It did help him feel a bit better, having the energy of the blue ring coursing through him, pulling his green power out of him.

It felt like she was back in Secondary School where the differences between people (or beings) didn't really factor because it was at the basic level. “I should have noticed sooner,” Lilith wondered what should have given it away. “most blue lanterns have no fear- I should have seen the lack of it in you. Somehow, though, I suppose I lost my focus.” The student wondered about seeing a lack of fear. Sometimes it was hard to judge what emotions were going through others head, let alone which one's should be there but weren't. "Well, there was the visit from the children. I imagine that might have been distracting. After all, they really liked you. Some of them come here more often. They'll be disappointed if they don't see you again." |
[/b] The girl smiled. “That’s fine. I didn’t even know there was a blue lantern from earth. So you’re pretty much a surprise to me, as well.” Well, if you looked at the Maths, just the basic statistics, it was more likely that Sinestro would be the one who was surprised, Lilith thought. What where the chances of meeting a Green Lantern and finding a Blue Lantern on earth... "We can be surprised together, then. Although if you look at the Maths you were less likely to meet a Blue Lantern on Earth than I am to see a Green Lantern. Actually, I suppose the statistics are quite high for me meeting a Green Lantern..."[/b] Lilith mused, considering that they had Green Lantern s on Earth and there were probably billions of planets without one. "What brings you here, anyway?"[/b] Maybe she should have asked that question before... it was something that would be interesting to know. There was a pause when Lilith asked Sinestro what he would prefer to be called and the student wondered what the answer would be. “You may call me Sinestro,” Right, she would have to remember that. Should be simple enough. “And… no, there’s really nothing you can do about my leg. I’m not saying it just to be tough- I wouldn’t mind you healing it. Unfortunately, there’s some kind of curse on me, which makes it impossible for any kind of energy to heal my wounds. It will have to heal on its own.” A curse? Lilith didn't really believe in curses, science would explain everything, including magic and the afterlife (if they did exist). “Just hold your ring up.” Lilith did as she was told and watched in interest. New things always fascinated her. Learning was also something that she enjoyed and she was certainly learning now. "You've met many Blue Lanterns on your travels, then?"[/b] Lilith asked, resisting the urge to add 'sir' to the end. Why did teachers drum it into their heads and then expect them to forget it so soon?[/div] tags: Sinestro word count: ??? muse: War of the Worlds notes: None Though BRY made this table, all the credit goes to RAVEN for the idea! :D[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,426,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/greenmiddle.png] She was comparing the chances of meeting a green lantern from earth and meeting a blue lantern, and he supposed she was right. There were far more green lanterns than blue lanterns just in general, and with how many there were in sector 2814… the odds were certainly in her favor. The Green Lantern nodded slowly, though he didn’t have much to say. It didn’t really matter to him who had a better chance of seeing what. It looked like they both were encountering something new.
He was more interested in the ring, and feeling the power flood through his body, restoring him once more. It felt like any other charge, but in hyper drive. The only perk of being around a Blue Lantern. While he had to deal with the hope nonsense, at least he got a lovely power boost from the blue ring. Not only did it bring his power levels back up to normal, but it took them beyond, raising the power of his ring to near twice what it would normally be able to handle. It was close to the kind of power he could force out of his ring on his own, but without the worry of shattering the ring as a result. It was all the fun without the hassle, really. But Sinestro had no reason to really enjoy the massive boost in power right at that moment- there weren’t any villains to stop, or disasters to protect innocents from. He was just sitting on a park bench with a nice girl on a nice day.
Hardly the right moment for limitless strength.
Still, the boost in power did help him feel a good deal stronger. The added help of her ring allowed him to heal a bit quicker than normal, even with the curse that had been placed on him. The woman he had fought probably hadn’t known the full power of a green ring when she had made the curse, and it worked better with regular power levels than beefed up. Good news for him, as it meant being able to relax a bit more comfortably and not have to worry about pain, at least for a little while.
Back in his uniform, Sinestro looked at the girl, who had asked him if he had met a lot of blue lanterns. “Well, I suppose I’ve met a couple. I’ve fought alongside the whole corps at one point, but it had been much smaller then. I’m sure there are many new additions I’m not aware of- clearly I already missed one.” He smiled at her, though only slightly. “I’ve spoken with Warth and Walker. They gave me some small help when I was imprisoned on the red lantern’s home world.” He knew Walker better than any of them, he supposed, but that didn’t mean much. He still didn’t know a whole lot about the guy.
“You probably know the other blue lanterns more than I do,” he said. He knew a great deal about everyone in his corps. In both his corps, actually.

But she couldn't have hoped for a more interesting meeting. And she got to think about things mathematically as well. Which was good in the girl's mind. The more she could practice her maths the better. She could figure out the odds roughly, Lilith supposed. If she worked just with earth she could probably find out the number of people on Earth and then divide the number of Green Lanterns on Earth by that number and do the same with the number of Blue Lanterns. Divide by the smallest number and then she would have the ratio. Then she realised she was getting lost in thoughts about Maths and Science again and she shook her head slightly, smiling. It was so easy to think about the Maths that she could do. Turning her attention back to Sinestro, Lilith looked at him and then her ring, hoping that she had managed the charging his ring correctly. It looked like it was going well, he was in a Green Lantern uniform. That was good! Althought it might attract attention. But it was good. “Well, I suppose I’ve met a couple. I’ve fought alongside the whole corps at one point, but it had been much smaller then. I’m sure there are many new additions I’m not aware of- clearly I already missed one.” Lilith listened, happy to learn more about Sinestro. “I’ve spoken with Warth and Walker. They gave me some small help when I was imprisoned on the red lantern’s home world. You probably know the other blue lanterns more than I do,”Well, that was probably true but then he almost definitely knew more about the Green Lantern Corp than she did. It was all logical. "Yeah, well you will know about the Green Lantern Corp more than me. It's only logical." |
[/b] She smiled, then she realised that there was one thing that she was actually rather curious about with the Green Lanterns. "Do you know why there are so many Green Lanterns on Earth? I swear there have been more Green Lanterns on Earth than members of the Blue Lantern Corp!"[/b] She said, her voice cheerful and bright.[/div] tags: Sinestro word count: ??? muse: Top Gear notes: None Though BRY made this table, all the credit goes to RAVEN for the idea! :D[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,426,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/greenmiddle.png] If the children had still been around, he imagined they would have really enjoyed seeing him with his uniform on, glowing in green energy that sparked around him like lightning. It would probably have been a very pleasing sight, particularly for the ones who had really been into the hero talk. It might have made them more convinced that he really was a hero, since he knew some of them had been skeptic because he had been injured. He would have liked to have been of the hero they were imaging/ Like Superman. not because he was really that interested in being super moral and against killing even a little fly, but because of the whole 'practically a God thing'.
He really would have appreciated the immunity to damage after the better he had recently taken. Or, rather, he would have appreciated it before the beating, just so he wouldn't have had to deal with it at all.
Oh well, that which didn't kill you and all the rest.
Sinestro looked at the girl, offering a faint smile. she had asked him why there were so many lanterns from earth, and he really didn't have an answer for her that wouldn't sound really peculiar. Ah well. They were lanterns- weird was part of their business. "Well, I can't say for sure how it keeps managing to happen. I suppose earth has some kind of destiny to have a ton of lanterns protecting it. But it is a very important planet, however under-developed and foolish, so I suppose it should have many protectors." He rubbed his leg thoughtfully. Even if the ring had helped ease the pain, it didn't get rid of it.
"I know a couple of lanterns came when other lanterns were killed in battle, as is the standard for rings. However, the lanterns who died ended up... not being dead anymore, so there were a couple of them. It's all quite confusing. Jordan uses ends up being the one responsible for the cock-ups, so perhaps it would be better to hunt him down and ask him about it sometime."
He smiled faintly and looked up at the sky. It felt like the day had gotten a bit brighter, though he imagined his improved mood had a lot to do with having a charge in his ring.
"So have you used your ring? Do you protect your sector? You seem to still be living a rather normal human life," he observed.

That as well as learning, enjoying learning was important to be a good scientist. Either researching to keep up with the latest theories or making those theories yourself. Life was all about hope, cheer and learning. Although thinking about that did not help her with the homework. At the same time, talking to Sinestro wasn't going to help with the homework but she could do the homework later. "Well, I can't say for sure how it keeps managing to happen. I suppose earth has some kind of destiny to have a ton of lanterns protecting it. But it is a very important planet, however under-developed and foolish, so I suppose it should have many protectors." Hearing that Earth was important was a change from what a lot of the scientists said. It was less than a speck of sand out of all the sand on earth. "Y'know, a lot of scientists say otherwise. After all, earth is just one small planet in a possibly infinite universe as most of my physics teachers have said." |
[/b] Lilith replied, grinning as she remembered how one of them had said that no matter what they did it was completely insignificant in terms of the universe. One of her friends had joked that he should destroy the universe to prove otherwise. That had been back in England. I need to visit some time. The girl thought. "I know a couple of lanterns came when other lanterns were killed in battle, as is the standard for rings. However, the lanterns who died ended up... not being dead anymore, so there were a couple of them. It's all quite confusing. Jordan uses ends up being the one responsible for the cock-ups, so perhaps it would be better to hunt him down and ask him about it sometime." The student smiled and slightly chuckled when Sinestro said 'not being dead anymore', it wasn't often one got to hear that said casually in every day conversation but then Lilith wondered if this would count as everyday conversation and it was a serious topic. A name was also mentioned, Jordan... "Jordan... Ok."[/b] One name probably wasn't going to be too helpful but Lilith assumed it must be one of the other Green Lanterns so that narrowed it down to just some Jordan within the universe. But if she could find this Jordan and could then find out more about why there were so many Green Lanterns on earth... Well, as a scientist, or possible future one it was her duty to pursue knowledge and she did enjoy that. "So have you used your ring? Do you protect your sector? You seem to still be living a rather normal human life,"As the topic changed to her, Lilith blinked, not really expecting that. After all she hadn't really been around that long to do much. "I don't really go out and protect everyone. I'm more behind the scenes, like charity. And in the evenings I go out and try to help the homeless. My work is rather local and not that focused on the ring, in all honesty. I have got my University work and my mother needs some attention and light in her world. But I do my best to try and help anyone I can in whatever way I can."[/b] Lilith said, cheerfully. If she was needed then she would do whatever she could to help. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,426,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/greenmiddle.png] “You don’t know?” Sinestro mused, “hm. Perhaps it’s for the best that not everyone know the true importance of this planet. I imagine it would only make things more complicated if it were wide-spread news. But your scientists know nothing of the universe beyond their telescopes. It’s not a surprise that they are misinformed.” Sinestro didn’t have high praise for humans scientists. He knew they were stuck on their own world. What could they possibly know about… anything? Heading out into the universe had shown him how uneducated he had really been, despite his many years at university. But it had been a good opportunity for him to learn and grow, expanding his knowledge beyond his own world. Humans would rarely get such an opportunity. They could barely get into space without things going horribly wrong.
It was almost comical.
“Doesn’t sound to me like you do your best,” Sinestro observed, though he did not intend for it to sound as mean as it had popped out. “You have a ring capable of filling people with hope- granting them peace and comfort. You have abilities that would allow you to help more than any human would be able to normally. Yet you don’t use them, and just do things ‘when you can’. That is not the talk of someone who honors their ring, nor is it the talk of someone who truly deserves one.” He shrugged his shoulders, feeling a little like he was preaching. Maybe he was. He loved his corps, even if he hated the leadership, and it annoyed him when he saw people not taking things seriously. Even if they were in another corps, it seemed.
“It seems to me you’re more concerned with yourself than the people around you, which makes me wonder why you were given a ring in the first place. You’re kind- I’ll give you that. But the other members I’ve met… hope is all they seem to know.” He watched her a moment, before offering a slight sigh. Maybe the pain in his leg was making him cranky.
He didn’t need to take it out on someone he had only just met.
“I suppose there must have been a reason that brought you to the blue lanterns, and I’m sure they would know when someone didn’t deserve the gift they were given. It’s not my place to try and figure out how a blue lantern ring works, anyway. I apologize.”
He shifted on the bench, feeling a little uncomfortable. His leg was really starting to bother him, and he was sure he was going to be in trouble for it. No doubt he was doing something to the work Soranik had put into his leg. Messing it up, probably.
“I am just in pain and it makes me easily irritated,” he tried to explain.

If there was proof... She considered. But then they might consider that it was on other worlds as well. I wonder if there are intergalactic scientists looking to see if other words are important.“You don’t know? hm. Perhaps it’s for the best that not everyone know the true importance of this planet. I imagine it would only make things more complicated if it were wide-spread news. But your scientists know nothing of the universe beyond their telescopes. It’s not a surprise that they are misinformed." Considering this, the student wondered how long it would take for scientists to progress. There was a lot to learn but they were always trying to research and disprove things. "Well, the human race is a fairly young civilisation. There is much for us to learn." |
[/b] Lilith said, lightly, thinking about what humans may know in the future and how many theories would be proved wrong. “Doesn’t sound to me like you do your best,” Listening, Lilith was curious to see if he would elaborate on his words. She wasn't offended, merely interested in understanding his view point. “You have a ring capable of filling people with hope- granting them peace and comfort. You have abilities that would allow you to help more than any human would be able to normally. Yet you don’t use them, and just do things ‘when you can’. That is not the talk of someone who honors their ring, nor is it the talk of someone who truly deserves one.” Still, the student listened and took in his words. She was a student and she knew that in life one was constantly learning. “It seems to me you’re more concerned with yourself than the people around you, which makes me wonder why you were given a ring in the first place. You’re kind- I’ll give you that. But the other members I’ve met… hope is all they seem to know.” Lilith's thoughts briefly went back to the time when she had received the ring; it hadn't been long after her father had committed suicide, her mother had tried to follow and Lilith had just started university. Things were looking up now, her mother's condition wasn improving and Lilith was further into university. Things could only improve and the student intended on making sure that everyone would have a brilliant future. “I suppose there must have been a reason that brought you to the blue lanterns, and I’m sure they would know when someone didn’t deserve the gift they were given. It’s not my place to try and figure out how a blue lantern ring works, anyway. I apologize. I am just in pain and it makes me easily irritated,” Hearing Sinestro appologise, Lilith realised that she hadn't responded at all. Which was possibly impolite and she started to reply to Sinestro. "The apology is accepted. But I should thank you for your words. I am only young and new to the Blue Lantern Corps, there is always much to learn and different view points to explore and understand,"[/b] She smiled at him. "I find that while heroes, those with extra powers and abilities, inspire hope, there is only so much hope that they recieve. When someone appears, who seems to be no more different from you apart from the fact that you have fallen on worse circumstances, and when that other ordinary person offers their help, ordinary as it may be... it is that which is remembered and that restores your hope for the future."[/b] Lilith said, thinking of all the people she had done her best to help as just herself. "But I do understand your point and I will do my best to try and improve. Life is a constant course of learning. I expect that all of us shall be informed of new ways that we should act and be."[/b] Thinking about how Sinestro said about how the pain was irritating him, Lilith wondered if there was anything at all that she could do to help. He had said that it would heal in it's own time. So it didn't sound like there was anything that she could do. Surely it was possible, wasn't there that saying 'where there's a will, there's a way'. This caused her to chuckle at that thought. [/div] tags: Sinestro word count: ??? muse: Two Steps From Hell notes: Sorry for the delay! School got on top of me. Sinestro just felt there were more than enough normal humans trying to help one another, and if you could do more it was probably better to at least attempt something greater. Still, he supposed she did have a point, in her own way, even if it was difficult for him to accept that other people had valid opinions in general. It was something he was trying to work on.
But the progress was slow.
Sighing softly, the Green Lantern got himself up with his crutch, positioning himself carefully so his leg wasn’t supporting any of his weight. He had made it so far without falling flat on his face, and he didn’t want to change that right away by doing something too quickly. He had almost forgotten just how much his leg was hurting him when he had been sitting and talking. It was a good distraction. The pain had been there, of course, but it hadn’t been as bad as it was the moment he got up again. It was an acute reminder that he was still struggling with his injuries and that he really shouldn’t have been out of bed in the first place.
He needed to get out of the hospital and back in bed before he got himself into more trouble. If he damaged his leg further, his doctors would likely throw a hissy fit. The human ones, too. Though they were still nervous of him, a couple of them were starting to get more confident. Starting to treat him more like a proper patient and not something to poke with a stick from several yards back. Maybe they liked his sharp, but not dangerous tone.
He had heard that some humans found bitter people to be amusing.
“I think I should go back now,” he told the blue lantern, “it was nice to meet you, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing one another again. If you’re on this planet, then we’ll probably have to do some missions together at some point. I look forward to seeing what you might actually be able to do with that ring.”
It was at that point he remembered she had charged his ring, and he didn’t even need to crutch anymore. Sighing, he floated off the ground, feeling a little sheepish for having let such an important thing slip his mind for the sake of conversation. Apparently it was more distracting than he had thought.
“Good bye for now,” he said, offering her a wave before flying off to get back to the hospital. He was probably going to freak them out all over again now that he had a ring charged to help him out.
Maybe he would skip the hospital and just head back to his base.
