Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/bluemiddle.png] Sinestro frowned, glad his skin was red as he watched her handle the child with ease. He was a little embarrassed. To think, he hadn’t wanted to scare the child, and it had kept him from acting. Of course he knew how to handle children! He’d raised one of his own, after all. Well, at least for a little while. “I could have handled the little brat on my own,” he growled lowly, “you didn’t need to-“ he hadn’t had a moment to finish his thought, as through the fire and smoke a group of men, obviously the ones who had planned the whole attack, burst into the room. One even managed to get the jump on Diana, wounded her with a knife.
The child screamed and clung desperately to Diana, while the terrorists made their gruff proclamations. It had all happened so fast, Sinestro barely had time to react. He raised his ring and first a shot at the man who had stabbed Diana, sending him crashing into an already fire-damaged wall. It collapsed on top of him, and the man was trapped, for the moment. But in that time, the others had already opened fire, Sinestro’s primary concern shifted from kicking the crap out of the loud mouth, to making sure the child and Diana won’t shot into swiss cheese. Himself as well, actually.
Ignoring a sharp pain in his stomach from a bullet that had managed to get in before he could move, Sinestro planted himself in front of Diana, raising a barrier around all three of them to keep them safe from any further gun fire. But he knew he hadn’t managed to keep her from taking some damage, though he didn’t know to what degree she had suffered, or if the child had been hit as well. He didn’t have a moment to check, what with his eyes locked on the fools in front of him.
Too bad for the men- aside from their signatures, there were no other lifeforms in the building, which meant Sinestro no longer had to concern himself with being careful. “So you like fire, do you? You’re not the only one,” Sinestro hissed, green construct flames erupting from his barrier. Two lines of emerald fire shot forward and surrounded most of the angry men. The bright, extremely hot fire made short work of the already unstable floor, sending it and the thugs crashing to the floor below. Though the floor beneath his feet had vanished in his attack, the barrier kept all three of them airborne, and safe from harm. He floated with them, watching a couple more bullets ping off the green shield. Growling, he looked at the leader of the flock, who had pulled himself from the wall and was just out of reach of the collapsed floor.
“Die scum! We don’t need you, or any authority figures!” Hissed the lunatic. Sinestro rolled his eyes, pointing his ring at the man.
“This only proves how much you DO need order, filthy human.” He made a construct tiger roar to life and leap at the man, tackling him to the ground. As he screamed, trying to avoid claws and teeth, Sinestro moved to get them out of the heavily damaged building. The whole thing was starting to come down.
“Time to go,” he told Diana, though he wasn’t even sure if she was conscious behind him or not. He moved them out of the way, heading through a window and floating them gently to the ground below, a safe distance from the building. The child was sobbing and clinging to Diana for dear life, but he didn’t look too hurt. A construct net soon came from the building as well, holding the thugs that had fallen through the floor. The other man was dragged out by the tiger construct, alive but a bloody mess.
Sinestro was sure there were probably other members of the attack team who weren’t in the building, and were still lurking around watching them, waiting for their time to strike. The streets had been blocked by the thugs, making it take much longer for human help to arrive. He needed to keep an eye on the politicians, and make sure no one got murdered under his watch. Out of the frying pan and into the fryer, it seemed.
First, though, he removed the barrier around himself and Diana, watching her with an arched eyebrow. “Are you alright?” He asked. She had better be- there was still work to be done. His leg ached, his stomach hurt, his lungs felt like they were on fire, but he wasn't going to take a nap. She had better not, either.

The pain was indescribable to anybody that had never experienced a bullet. It felt like hot, destructive heat… like a big, bad knife was pulsing in Wonder Woman’s back. Combined with the real knife wound in her thigh made for a hell of a time for Diana. Regardless, the pain didn’t stop her from shielding the boy. She was more than willing to give her life for an innocent, regardless of who they were.
The sound of Sinestro fighting off the terrorists played into Wonder Woman’s ears. She was happy that it seemed like he had a hold of the situation. It would take her a bit to heal from the wounds and while that was happening, she was essentially worthless.
Eventually, Wonder Woman felt Thaal lifting them out of the building and onto the street for safekeeping. She sat up from her coddling position as the boy clung to her like a babe clinging to their mother. The poor thing was going to be traumatized and it would take a lot of psychological evaluations to shake such an incident. Just by that thought, Diana was extremely angry. Granted, the pain stabbing through her body from being shot and stabbed was agonizing enough to drive her to anger, but hell hath no fury like a woman protecting a child.
The amazon could feel her wounds healing and closing up. She was lucky that it didn’t puncture a vital organ, therefore her body was able to cope with the trauma. Wonder Woman stood up, holding onto the crying child in her arms.
“Are you alright?”
“I am fine. But I can tell you there are men that are not going to be alright when this day finishes…” Wonder Woman growled behind clenched teeth.
Though the amazons were a peaceful tribe, they did have a sense of bloodlust when on the hunt. Something would overcome them and their drive was merciless and relentless. Wonder Woman could feel this drive tickling through her muscles and a sense of adrenaline washed over her. Her eyesight narrowed as she gazed at new attackers that appeared.
Diana set the boy down and pushed him gently behind her. She slowly moved forward with confident steps towards the gang of terrorists.
“You dare launch a cheap attack and try to kill a child? By Athena, you will all wish you were dead boiling in the festering streams of Hell’s rivers by the time I am done with you!” Wonder Woman howled at the terrorists, “I dare you to shoot me now.”
She walked up to one of the men’s cocked assault rifles and put her forehead to it.
“Do it,” Wonder Woman screamed.
The man gulped but fired his gun as commanded. With a red, white, and blue blur Diana brought her bracelet up to her forehead which deflected the bullet with ease, she then, with her other arm, plowed the weapon from the terrorist’s grasp. Wonder Woman threw the gun aside as a barrage of bullets came her way.
The solid “TING TANG” of the bullets hitting Wonder Woman’s iconic bracers pierced the air. She weaved in and out of the terrorists, decimating them with perfect kicks and punches. The battle raged on!

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/bluemiddle.png] Sinestro chuckled faintly as he watched Wonder Woman leap into battle. Just as a group of thugs emerged to fight them off, she was there to knock them about like they were nothing more than flies to flicked off with two fingers. For someone as powerful as she was, it was likely more about not going to far then wondering if she had enough energy to beat them all. Hers was a power that could cause a great deal of turmoil had it been left in someone else’s hands. She, however, probably knew how to control herself, and even if she didn’t he wasn’t about to stop her. These humans had made their beds and they needed to sleep in them- they were beyond being saved in his eyes. Let them be pummeled into bloody masses, he honestly didn’t care.
He tilted his head as he watched, impressed with her power. It wasn’t every day he got to see her upset, and not upset at him, so it was something he was going to try and enjoy if he could.
But his entertainment was short lived.
One man, who was separate from the group and off on his own as some kind of scout or last resort, pulled out a weapon Sinestro had not been expecting such reckless men to own- a grenade launcher. He hoisted it over his shoulders and pointed it not at Sinestro or Wonder Woman, but at the congregation of politicians standing in the middle of the street, waiting for help to arrive to tend to their wounds and escort them out of there. The group also supported other faculty and patrons of the hotel, all just trying to get over what had just happened to them. Sinestro growled and raised his ring to the group, putting up a barrier around them just as the rocket very nearly made it to them. It exploded around them, causing many to scream and huddle together, but nothing got past the green dome around them. Smoke and fire danced on top of it for a moment, then dissipated, leaving everyone in tact.
“Little coward,” Hissed Sinestro, turning his ring on the human. He’d had enough of the nut jobs, and wished to kill them all. How did ‘good guys’ stand to let such deplorable beings LIVE?
But he didn’t get a chance to attack the rocket-toting terrorist, something hard crashing into his back. It was much too late that he realized at least two men had been positioned around the perimeter, armed with identical rocket launchers. While one had been aiming at the group, the other had been aiming at the red alien. If there were others, possibly aiming at Wonder Woman or to try and take out the group again, Sinestro was not aware. The rocket had exploded against him, and though the green glow around his body was a strong shield, it had still been a heavy hit for someone who hadn’t been prepared for it. He was shot forward from the blast, letting out a pained yelp as he crashed to the pavement. He rolled along the street for a moment, before coming to a stop on his stomach.
Groaning, he struggled to get himself standing again, smoke filtering off his charred back. Shaking stars from his eyes, he looked around, disoriented for the moment. His ears were thumping, his vision blurry. But he knew neither men had been taken out, and it was possible they had more than one shot open to them.
He had to admit- they had planned out their attack quite effectively.
"Diana!" He called, just in case she hadn't heard the explosions that had just rocked the area. Still stranded on his knees, he wasn't sure when he would be able to get himself in a good fighting sense. His ring didn't heal things as quickly as her powers, and thanks to a recent curse put on him by a crazy alien from a planet he had ruined, he wasn't sure it would heal him at all. Damn. It was not turning out to be his day. He already had a bullet buried somewhere inside his stomach, and his leg was acting up something fierce. How many trips to the hospital was it going to take for him to start thinking before he acted? Ready or not, he wobbled his way to his feet, ignoring the pain as he raised a shaky hand and created a large slash of energy at one of the rocket holders, cutting into the machine and causing it to explode on the man.

These men fought with such intensity. To try to defeat two superheroes just to have a chance at killing their targeted politicians. Who were these politicians and why could the terrorists possibly want them dead so badly? Diana didn’t have a chance to think, her last gun-toting foe went down to the ground and she raised her head to look at her temporary companion when he yelled for her.
It looked like an atomic bomb had just gone off for the ground was blown to shreds with shrapnel scattered all over. Sinestro looked like he was having a bad time and finally needed assistance. He seemed to be holding his own, but Diana distinctly understood when someone wasn’t doing well. Years of battle honed her ability to track how allies and enemies alike are doing.
Wonder Woman wasted no time and was quickly by Sinestro’s side. She needed to heal him before anyone further appeared. With a quick whip, Diana draped her golden lasso around Sinestro. Before he could raise an eyebrow, she gently shushed him.
“This should heal you. I have no need for the truth from you now, Thaal,” Wonder Woman collectedly told him. She scanned the area, her blue eyes scouting every nook and cranny where cowards could roost. Sinestro had managed to wipe the majority of them out and she was thankful to have an ally. There would be no way she’d be able to take down so many foes all by herself.
“Do you think there are more or did we successfully beat them back?” Diana quizzed, looking back to Sinestro. How could she not trust and depend on Thaal Sinestro after such a battle? He had proven himself to be honorable in the heat of battle. If Diana couldn’t vouch for him in the Justice League, she didn’t know who she could EVER depend on.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/bluemiddle.png] Sinestro watched her, frowning. While he and the lasso were not friends, she was quick to tell him that she was not trying to pump him for any kind of information. He supposed that was a good thing, though he wasn’t so sure he had much left to spill out to her at that point. He’d already made a big enough ass of himself to last for several lifetimes. It was strange, though, to think that she was trying to help him with her lasso, rather than use it against him. Things really were different.
Mind blowing.
Sighing softly, he straightened himself, using his ring to repair the damage done to his suit, at least. “You might be wasting your time,” he admitted, “an enemy placed a curse of some kind on me and my wounds do not heal as they should.” He left it at that, feeling it might be too long a story to explain what had happened. Maybe over a drink or something. For now, he focused his attention less on his injuries, and more on the area around him, looking around to see what had become of the humans. It seemed their combined efforts had either subdued the group, or frightened whatever had remained of them into retreating. Whatever the case, he did not see anyone in the immediate area that wanted to shoot them.
“Looks like we’re clear,” he said with a sigh, glad the whole thing was over. It felt like there had been far too many to deal with, and for what? They had just wanted to make some kind of a statement against ‘the man’? He didn’t understand. Such rebellion should not be encouraged with lenient rules like the ones on earth. Perhaps he would never fully understand what drove them to be so easily brought to chaos.
He didn’t particularly want to spend the time figuring it out, either.
Rubbing his back, he looked back at Wonder Woman, investigating her frame for a moment to see how she was fairing. It looked like that super powered persona he’d seen in the past was still holding up well- it would take more than some armed humans to bring her to her knees.
“Well, that was certainly more than I thought it would be. It was good I did not come alone,” he admitted, pointing his ring at what remained of the building. “Just the clean up, I suppose.” It was sort of his favorite part. He couldn’t deny that he liked the way humans stared in awe when green light encased an entire building, every piece of burnt wood and plaster re-forming and re-connecting like pieces of a puzzle. It took a long, silent moment from Sinestro, but eventually the building was back to an almost new condition, just as it had been before any attack on it. The only thing he hadn’t repaired were, naturally, the bombs, but he did collect all the pieces to pull out and leave on the side of the road.
He could hear the sirens finally sparking up in the distance, slowly but surely drawing closer.
“How good of the human law enforcement to finally show up,” he mumbled, “I still don’t know why these beings are so worth protecting.” He looked at the happy group of survivors. Not everyone had made it, but it seemed at least some were thrilled to be saved. Others, like the boy, had lost loved ones to the blaze. Sinestro's ring could not bring them back.

Wonder Woman listened as Sinestro explained the lasso wouldn’t work; that he had some sort of curse placed on him. She pinched her lips together and shook her head, removing the lasso from him. Her lariat wasn’t working to heal her newfound ally and it disturbed her. After all, Wonder Woman hated it when she couldn’t be in control of a situation.
Sinestro said they were in the clear and then began to belittle humans and law enforcement. Though the barrage was over, Sinestro’s slick tongue did not so easily dissipate. Diana understood that though he was a hero now, he would always remain one that couldn’t keep his trap shut. He would always have an unfavorable opinion about something and would always manage to say it out loud.
Diana guffawed at him and shook her head.
“Regardless of their worth, you just protected them. That makes you a hero, whether you like it or not. I am guessing this will end up on the front page of the Gotham Gazette and New York Post. I can just imagine the headlines now, Thaal. ‘FORMER CRIMINAL AND WONDER WOMAN SAVE POLITICIANS’. I think that has a ring to it,” Wonder Woman joshed.
She crossed her arms over her chest as she watched emergency personnel pile onto the scene. It wouldn’t be long now before the police would be asking for their statement about what had just happened. Wonder Woman was used to this song and dance. However, she just hoped Sinestro would stick around long enough to speak to the police.
As they canvassed the scene, finally a herd of FBI agents muddled up to Thaal and Diana. One had a small memo pad, another carried a recorder, while the other was speaking on a cell phone to an unknown party.
“Diana…” the one with a recorder stated.
He gave a questioning look to Thaal. It was one of those looks that screamed ‘should I trust this person’. Without using words, Wonder Woman nodded at him to show him Sinestro was okay in her books.
“Mister Sinestro,” Recorder Man said, “I am Agent Johnson of the FBI branch here in New York City. I just needed to ask you some quick questions officially. If you could tell me a little bit about what happened that would be appreciated.”
Diana took a deep breath in and spoke, “Sinestro learned of a hotel on fire not far from where we were. We responded in a timely fashion to save as many people as we could. We busted down many doors to get to the fire victims, where many were dead. The two of us split up the hotel into quadrants so we knew where we had been and where to go to save more people. I finished my side and went to help Sinestro retrieve a child from a closet. There, we were assaulted by the men responsible for the bombing. We managed to take down the suspects and Sinestro brought us to safety. From there, we were attacked at all angles by the terrorist group trying desperately to get at the politicians we had saved. We cleared the scene successfully and here we are now.”
The agent then looked to Sinestro, wanting his version of the events.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/bluemiddle.png] She was teasing him, but he still frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. “humph! I should at least be ‘former dictator’ or ‘former master of fear’. Criminal isn’t strong enough a word.” It didn’t happen often, but even Sinestro had the capacity to tease himself. There were moments in his life that he wasn’t particularly fond of- things he would go back and change if he had the chance to. It was a very strange thing to suddenly have to deal with, considering he had spent most of his time thinking his every choice was a perfect one and he had no regrets about anything.
Shame that didn’t stick.
When the humans arrived, his good mood decidedly lessened, his sharp yellow eyes stalking each of them as they moved to tend to the injured and gather the criminals. Cops were putting some in hand cuffs, while others needed to be seen by paramedics before they could be taken in. They were all busy with their assigned duties, save for those who seemed more interested in talking with the heroes. Gathering information, perhaps.
“What?” Sinestro demanded, noting the man was looking at him. Hadn’t Diana said enough for this guy? The man looked a little frightened, but didn’t leave. Unlike some humans, this one seemed not to really know who he was, at least more than what he had likely seen in a paper or two way back when. Maybe that was a good thing, though if it meant being asked a bunch of foolish questions he couldn’t be sure.
“Is there anything you would like to add or clarify?” The man asked faintly.
“No,” snarled the Green Lantern, before turning his eyes away from the other and effectively ending the conversation with one word. He never usually stuck around to help out the police, and he certainly didn’t hang around to answer questions. But it seemed something Diana was willing to do- something she had been anticipating, in fact. He couldn’t say he was a fan of this part of the hero life. When he’d been doing things his own way, he hadn’t had to worry about making sure the humans had enough to stand on to wrap things up in a nice bow.
He looked at Diana, frowning. “Are we done here? I see no reason to linger,” he commented lowly, “and there’s still someone I need to find.” Someone being a kitten, but still. He was sure he had seen her back in the side street he’d been in before, and perhaps she was still around there. If he was lucky, he might be able to add ‘recovering his kitten’ to his oddly alright day. He’d already gained the trust of one of the league, sort of, and he’d helped a bunch of humans. Normally, things did not go so well for him.

The two were wrapping up words with the investigators, more like Diana was. Sinestro had some simple, to the point words for them. Wonder Woman had summed up everything that had happened in great detail and obviously there was a more pressing matter that Thaal wanted to attend to. Johnson was about to give Sinestro a piece of his mind, New York style, when Diana put a hand on the agent’s chest.
“I am sorry for my friend’s abruptness. It is in his nature. He has nothing further to say, nor do I. If you need further details and descriptions, you may contact the appropriate Justice League hotline,” Wonder Woman nodded at the FBI agents to show them that they were finished.
The agents moved on their way, checking out the scene and starting to question various witnesses. Diana turned to Sinestro as he told her there were other things to attend to.
“No, we are finished. I will report what I know to the Justice League about you, Sinestro. You have been a real help today. I know you hate any sort of compliments that might have others believe you are good. But the Lasso of Truth declared something that I would never have thought possible. There is no ill intent in your heart,” Wonder Woman gently shrugged her shoulders, “and if the Lasso says it is so, then so too shall this Amazon.”
Diana gave Sinestro one last look. By all means, he wasn’t your normal looking man-thing. Some middle aged women might find him attractive but he certainly wasn’t someone that screamed hero. In fact, he looked like old portraits of Lucifer by people in the 1800’s. This was a man that had lived his life as a villain with a deadest, evil intent. But now, here he was, joking with the Themysciran amazon like they were old friends.
“I must be off on official business as well, Thaal… Take care and God speed.”
The American icon was in the air in mere seconds, a shooting red, white, and blue bullet in the sky. As she glided away, she would not soon forget what Thaal Sinestro, legendary Corp member, did this day.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/Gotta_love_gits/Sinestro/random%20images/bluemiddle.png] Sinestro watched her go, frowning thoughtfully. He hadn’t expected that she would be so willing to accept him, but perhaps having the lasso to vouch for him did help him out a bit. It was hard to deny that kind of proof. Still, he supposed the rest of the justice league might not be so convinced, even with her findings. Some of them were probably more than willing to continue hating him no matter what. Superman, most likely, would fall into that group. The guy was so moral and good, he doubted he would be interested in someone who walked a very different path. They had vastly different beliefs.
But, hey, at least he had one… acquaintance.
As he moved away from the scene as well, heading in a different direction from Wonder Woman, he realized he had allowed her to call him Thaal without once correcting her. Normally, he preferred people call him Sinestro, as it was a less personal name and he didn’t connect it with anything related to his past life. Only his close friends and loved ones had ever been allowed to call him by his first name. Abin and Arin, primarily, with a couple other Lanterns and the guardians, though they only got away with it because they were assholes and never complied when he told them not to anyway.
Maybe it was just because he had been off his game from the start, and it had made it easier for others to get away with things that might otherwise piss him off. Still, he supposed it was too late to correct her, anyway. If they did happen to meet again, even if he was feeling top notch, he likely wouldn’t tell her to use his more well-known name.
Somehow, he liked someone calling him Thaal for a change. It felt like it had been a lifetime since it had been used in a good light.
Though he had wanted to find his kitten, he just wasn’t feeling up to it with his injuries and his fatigue. He ended up flying back to his underwater base, settling in for some much needed, and maybe even earned relaxation.
… after digging a bullet out of his flesh.
