Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Superboy sat there with his arms crossed as he stared at the blank television screen across the living room. His face was discontent with anger and annoyance as he sat there. He wore his black shirt with his red s symbol. It was a short sleeve shirt and the sleeves ended halfway down his biceps. The shirt was neatly tucked into a pair of faded denim jeans held up by a belt. He sported his normal pair of combat boots and a belt. His ebony black hair was unkempt and ruffled. His blue eyes glinted with discontent and annoyance as he sat with his arms crossed on the living room couch. He had been flicking through channels earlier; unfortunately he learned the horrible truth that they didn't make anything good on television anymore. Eventually he got so sick of all the horrible shows he just turned it off and stubbornly stared at the television. It was two thirty pm. Lunch time. But Superboy, despite being hungry, was too annoyed to show any other emotion or feeling at the moment. He had been sitting there all day since he woke up. It wasn't like he had to go to school or anything. Hell, he didn't even have a name. He couldn't go to school. The name problem was another thing bugging him, but he wouldn't admit it. Superman obviously didn't care so why should he care? Superboy just didn't understand anything. He couldn't understand why Superman was avoiding and neglecting him as if he was something filthy. He couldn't grasp his own emotions. And he was just so angry all the time. Everything just made him angrier though. He wanted to be happy to be like everyone else. But no. He was created in a lab in Cadmus. His very existence wasn't just abnormal, but just plain wrong. He was a clone. And if that wasn't enough he wasn't even a decent clone. It wasn't like he had all of Superman's powers or anything. He couldn't help but feel like a half rate Superman. One that could never substitute for the real thing. How could he ever live up to his namesake? All of it boiled into a rage inside of him. He was always a ticking time bomb. He couldn't help but wonder what Powergirl was doing at the moment. How she was. She was the first person who had ever been truly nice to him. Helped him. She had helped him to hone his super hearing.

Kara had just got done talking with Clark at the Fortress of Solitude. Clark had told Kara to go check up on Superboy and to take him out for the day. Kara thought it was a good plan. She had always wanted to see Superboy. Kara changed out of her pajamas that she had on because she had just woke up being she was out all night. Kara through on her denim jean shorts and a blue tank top that showed her belly button, with a red leather jacket with her red boots, of course her costume was under her clothes. Kara brushed her naturally curly hair and flew off towards Clark’s apartment.
Kara began to think that flying wasn’t a good idea being she was bad at controlling it, but she just regarded the thought and began to have fun while she was flying. Flying was one of Kara’s favorite things to do, it helped clear her mind. Kara began to notice how close she was to Clark’s apartment when she tried to control her flying. Kara trying to stop flew strait though the closed window leaving broken glass along the apartment floor. She had broken many things living them strung along until she finally slammed strait on to the already pissed Superboy which had stopped her being he was the boy of steel. Kara looked up at him in embarrassment and smiled a bit. She couldn’t help but be embarrassed here was some girl he didn’t really know who slammed in to him and was on him to scared to move.

Great. Wasn’t this just wonderful? It was just what Superboy needed! A teenage girl to come flying through the window of the apartment and sprawl forward onto him. Exactly what he needed. He mentally face palmed; however, in real life he remained stoic glaring down at the other kryptonian teenager a thing frown upon his face a a glint of absolute annoyance and anger glinting in his eyes even more powerful than before, He was sick of all the crap! He sick of being neglected. He was sick of not understanding anything. He was sick of all the terrible television shows. He was sick of teenage girls flying through windows and sprawling onto him. He felt like screaming, but instead he remained stoic in his chosen expression.
“What are you doing,” he said the anger present in his voice. He could grasp why she would possibly be smiling at this moment. No apology. No explanation. No ‘I’m sorry I broke through you window’. Nothing. Just a smile. Not even getting up off of him. Her impact hadn’t hurt him being he had impenetrable skin. “Well,” he asked getting more annoyed every second she didn’t talk. He was just plain angry and annoyed. And he was probably going to stay that way for quite awhile.

Kara looked at the annoyed Superboy. “I’m Kara Kent, or Supergirl. I’m sorry for hitting you” she hugged the angered boy and smiled. She pulled of and floated away from him. “I’m sorry about the window I can’t control my flying yet. And I’ll tell Clark I broke his stuff.” Kara took in the young boys figure and his clothes. Kara herself was still learning what the human things where, and she tended to be blunt about the questions. “I came to hang out with you Superboy…..what is your human name Superboy?” Kara could feel the annoyance and anger that radiated off of the young Superboy. Kara sat next to him and waited for his answer.
Kara had planned their whole day together. She had been existed about Clark letting her see Superboy that she took his credit card and was going to buy Superboy some new things to do. She had learned what video games where and she was determined to get one for Superboy. “Your lonely here aren’t you? Well at least you get to live in the apartment I get put in the fortress of solitude because I’m not as smart as a normal girl.” Kara looked at her what she wanted to call her brother. Kara missed the idea of family and maybe getting close with Superboy would help the family she has get closer. Kara watched the boy with her light blue eyes and wondered what was going through his angered mind. She wondered if she should hug him again and hug him she did.

Great another Kent and this one was a teenager. Seemed like Superman cared about her more. At least she has a name. Despite being utterly baffled by the hug, Superboy didn’t so much as budge or change his facial expression. Why was this girl he didn’t know hugging him? Why would anyone be hugging him at the moment? It was all so confusing to him. When Kara spoke about not having control over her flying Superboy almost retorted that at least she could fly in the first place. Not being able to fly was a touchy subject. Over all his other powers he didn’t have it was the one he wanted the most. To be able to soar through the sky and get away from the world for a bit. Forget about his problems for a moment or two. But no. He couldn’t have that luxury and he wasn’t sure if he ever would. At the mention of a human name a little annoyance disappeared to make room for a little more anger. He didn’t want to say anything about not having one. But he didn’t have anything else to say. “I don’t have one,” he said trying to restrain the anger from his voice. Powergirl had told him he needed to calm down more.
Superboy didn’t know if he was lonely or not. He didn’t understand what lonely felt like. But if it was what he had been feeling lately then he certainly never wanted to feel it again. He didn’t know how he was supposed to feel. He didn’t know what loneliness felt like. It was a whole confusing topic. But he didn’t say he didn’t understand loneliness. He didn’t want to be looked down upon or pitied or anything else similar. As for the apartment or the Fortress of Solitude, Superboy didn’t care which. “I suppose the only reason I haven’t been thrown away under lock and key in the Fortress of Solitude is because its the only place he can get away from me.” He said it without really thinking about how it might sound or what kind of repercussions there were. He was just speaking what he had thought.

Kara was surprised to the thought of Superboy not having a name and noticed that he seemed upset she had a name. Kara giggled a little at the thought. “Superboy Clark is my cousin he didn’t give me my name my mom and dad did. But if you like I would love to help you pick out a human name. I should be something with a K or a C.” Kara thought for a minute. “Do you understand human ways? Because I don’t understand how most of the human things work and I feel very stupid when I ask, so I understand if you need to ask questions I do it all the time and I won’t look down on you. You’re my brother and I love you for you nothing can change that. I know that you don’t know me but I hope one day we can be close. And I’m sorry about the way Clark treats you but I don’t ever want to make you feel unwanted because you are very wanted by me.” Kara pulled away from the hug and looked him in his eyes. “I wish you were at the Fortress so then maybe I wouldn’t be so alone and you wouldn’t either. I don’t really know what to say about superman but I’m sure we can be friends…and family.” Kara knew she talked a lot and she also knew she wanted to hear what Superboy had to say. So Kara shut her mouth and watched Superboy with the craving to be his family.

Superboy didn’t feel like creating a name at the moment. He didn’t feel like talking either. But Supergirl seemed akin to do both. As for human ways . . . he didn’t understand any ways. He understood perfectly fine how most things work such as a microwave or an oven or a door or anything like that. What he didn’t understand were other people and their feelings and actions and what their actions meant. He didn’t even know what his own meant much less other peoples. A brother. A sister. Superboy didn’t know what it meant to have a family. Love. Family. Brother Sister. To him they were no more than words. So the words didn’t touch him. Words were empty. Actions spoke. The whole thing confused him more than he liked to admit and that channeled into rage and anger rather than feeling her kindness.
“I don’t need family,” he said turning into a black, red and blue blur thanks to his super speed and stopped in front of the garbage pale, the glass in his hands. He dumped them into it. He wasn’t cut or hurt or anything thanks to his Kryptonian powers. Invincibility. Super strength. Super speed. Super hearing. Super breath. You’d think that would be enough for someone, anyone. But Superboy felt insecure about not having all of his powers, especially flying. It wasn’t enough that he was only a clone of Superman, but he was a half-ass clone of Superman. What he said wasn’t necessarily true. But he didn’t want to admit he needed other people. That he craved acceptance from Superman and those around him. That would be showing weakness. That he needed others to survive. He didn’t want to have to depend on others.

“I don’t need family” Superboys’ words lingered in the mind of the young blonde Supergirl. “Well I need one, I need you” She could feel a warm liquid fall from her blue eyes. She lightly touched the liquid in confusion, she was leaking from her eyes. Kara felt the watery drops keep falling. This new emotion was confusing to Kara all she wanted was the one thing she lost when her planet exploded and that was a family. Kara thought maybe this liquid was killing her and if it was she really didn’t want to stick around in the house of the one boy she wanted accepted by because she knew he was just as lost as she was, because Kara didn’t know what a microwave is or an oven and doors confused her. Kara could feel a rage inside her. There was water on her face and a pissy teenaged boy that she couldn’t get through to. Kara stood up from the couch and wiped the liquid from her eyes. “I’m tired of trying to play nice boy. We are going to hang out whether you like it or not. You are a Kent wither or not you like it.”
Kara walked up to Superboy and grabbed his hand hard. “We are going to get something to eat. Then we are going to look at puppies because puppies are cute. Got it!” She dragged Superboy outside and began dragging him to the mall. Kara hated being mean but she thought that maybe that was the only way she could get him to open up. What was the worst he could do Kara couldn’t die and neither could he. She turned towards him “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have been so mean now what do you want to eat” Kara said giggling at the noises both of their stomachs made.

Superboy had zero idea what the hell was going on now. Why would she need him? Someone she just met? It wasn’t like they had known each other for a long time or were close friends or anything of the sort. And watery tears leaking from her eyes confused him even more. He knew what crying was and he knew what tears where, but he himself had never shed a tear or cried or even seen someone else crying or tearing. He felt out of place. He didn’t know what he was supposed to be doing or why she was doing this crying thing in the first place. He couldn’t comprehend that what he said had hurt her. He couldn’t understand why it would hurt her. The whole thing was giving him a headache.
Then she seemed to switch emotions in a heart beat as she took charge and told him she was done playing nice. What was she going to try and fight him? He figured he could take her. He was Supermans clone after all. Indeed, Superboy was quite cocky and overestimated himself far too often. He didn’’t take into consideration that she probably had way more formal training than he did or that she might be trained at all. Or that her powers were more developed than his as half of his powers were latent after all. He didn’t take anything into consideration into his assumption. But he knew he couldn’t fight her in a public area as people would get hurt. And he couldn’t fight her in the apartment because that was a guarantee that more things would break. Superman was already neglecting him, he didn’t want to give him more of a reason to hate him.
As she grabbed his hand and practically dragged the teenager out of the apartment claiming what they were going to do Superboy gritted his teeth inside his closed mouth which was a disapproving frown. “Puppies?!” he exclaimed as she dragged him down the flight of stairs. “How are puppies going to make me feel better? How are puppies going to fix things? How are puppies going to do anything useful?” Superboy was quite the rest of the way silently grunting and thinking things in his head. He would have said those things out loud, but he knew that she was kryptonian and as long as she had her super hearing she could hear. Eventually she stopped and turned to him and apologized. Superboy just grunted. Then she asked what he wanted to eat. Now that was a tricky one. He didn’t know what kind of food he liked. He hadn’t exactly been eating much. Clark hadn’t exactly been taking him out restaurants every Saturday night. But he didn’t want to say he didn’t know what kind of food he liked. He didn’t want to seem weak, foolish, naive or anything else. Or rather he didn’t want to feel that way. He didn’t know when he was feeling those things all he knew was that it didn’t feel good when he said things that made him seem that way. He also didn’t know the names of any food places either.

Kara couldn’t help but notice he was confused. Maybe he didn’t know what type of he liked. Kara looked around and found a Chinese food store and walked over. “How about this, we can try it together?” Kara was trying to be friendly and offer him a choice after all she did drag him to the mall. Kara thought about what it must be like to be Superboy, Kara got a sad feeling in her heart on how he must feel about the neglect from superman and how she wasn’t there from the beginning and that made her feel like Superboy had the right to act the way he did. Kara smiled and decided that she wasn’t gonna push him for acceptance she would just back down and be there for him when and if he wanted it. Kara looked at the food and her stomach made another noise. She looked at Superboy; Kara couldn’t wait to see the puppies. She thought that maybe the cute little wet nosed dogs would make Superboy a lot less tense.
Kara waited for Superboy to make up his mind about the Chinese food shop. She watched the boy in front of her. “Um Superboy, I have a question?” Kara looked at the object behind Superboy. It was a normal thing that was in most homes but one thing Kara hasn’t seen before. It was a statue of Superman and kara didn’t understand what it was and why it was there. It was kind of creepy.

Kara offered the Chinese food place up. He never had Chinese food. But that didn't make it any different from any other food as he hadn't had any of that either. He had spent over half his life in a tank in laboratory and the other half searching for Superman. He had figured Superman would be kind to him. That Superman would understand. That he would at the least want to know he had a clone out there. The people who created him obviously didn't have good intentions, that was obvious. So what was stopping them from doing it again? Oh yeah, thats right. Superboy blew up their laboratory during his escape that was what was stopping them.
Just as Superboy was about to walk over and enter the shop Kara asked a question about her having a question. Superboy turned around towards Supergirl. "Yes?" he said before following her gaze to the statue of Superman that was behind him. His eyes narrowed and his blue eyes looked as if they might fire off a blast of heat any moment to melt it. He hated being reminded of his namesake. It reminded him off everything he wasn't and everything he was supposed to be. everything he wanted, yet didn't have. How he wanted to be treated by Superman and how he was treated by Superman.

“What is that and why don’t you and I have a thing like that, we are supers aren’t we?” Kara looked at Superboy with confusion. Why didn’t they have a statue made of gold or something? It was pretty clear that Superboy and Supergirl were also superheroes. Kara noticed how much Superboy hated the statue but Kara wanted to know what it was and why it was there. “Do you think we don’t have one because you’re locked up in the apartment and I crash at the fortress?” Kara got to thinking about superman and Superboy they were nothing alike well at least to Kara.
To Kara Superboy seemed to have more emotions they might not be happy and loving but they were at least something, she felt more connected to Superboy then she did with Clark maybe it was because Kara knew Clark when he was little but now he’s older then her and she finds it weird. Superboy was the one Kent who was close to the same age as her. Kara turned to the store, and walked in. “you can tell me as we eat, I’m starving.” Kara sat at a table that was near a wall and a window and watched Superboy. She handed him a menu and looked over hers. All these words where too hard to understand. She closed the menu and decided to get whatever Superboy decided he was going to get. He probably knew more about food then she did. Kara smiled at superboy and waited for his answer to the statue question.

Superboy listened to her inquiry trying to concentrate more on her question than the statue but his anger about Superman was enraging him. He couldn't help but try to use his heat vision. Unfortunately that was a no go. It was still latent in him. No melted Superman statue today. Superboy followed Kara into the Chinese food restaurant his blood boiling a bit less now that he wasn't staring at that infernal statue. He sat opposite Kara at the table and began to look over the menu. He hadn't had anything on the menu. But he did have a decent knowledge of the different kinds of information implanted into his head. When the waiter came by Superboy looked up and folded his menu. "I'll have a water and the General Tao's Chicken."
After the waiter had taken both their orders Superboy turned back to Kara and sighed. "I don't have any statue because I'm fairly new. I haven't made a mark and any mark I could have made by this point would be practically invisible next to what Superman has done for not only this city but the world. He is so amazing that out of every hero alive Cadmus and whoever paid them that hefty amount of cash chose to clone him. Which is how I came about. He's a force to be reckoned with. Ever since my escape from Cadmus and even before it all I've ever heard nothing more than the legend of his life as this worlds savior. Saving all from shore to shore. They look at Superman like he's a god which means anyone else around is just a minor god standing below him." At least that's what Superman assumed to be the reason. He had thought long and hard about the whole why they hero worship Superman bit. That was his interpretation of why.

Kara smiled “thank you SB for telling me that, and I’m sure one day you will have a bigger better statue.” She smiled at Superboy and looked at the green colored bubbly mountain dew and wondered. “SB what if we team up and make our marks?” Kara was thinking that together the super teens could be a great team. She smiled up at the dark haired boy and wondered what was going on in his head. Kara was also glad that he told her about his past in a way; it made her feel like maybe he did like her.
When the food arrived Kara looked at it and wondered what the hell she got her self in to. She wasn’t sure what it was and if it was even good. She picked up the spoon when she should have grabbed the fork. Kara began to eat the food with the spoon and smiled. It tasted good. Kara looked up to see what Superboy was doing, Kara really didn’t want to feel out of place and to her Superboy knew more about the humans then she did. She was amazed with the food and the drink and the company she was with. Kara couldn’t have asked for anything more or anything less. She was happy. “Thank you for hanging out with me today SB I really needed this.” Kara thought that maybe she didn’t do this for Superboy that maybe she did it for both of them, she watched Superboy. “I’m sorry to bring this up SB but we need to find you a name so we don’t blow your identity as a super.” Kara said with her calm concerning voice. She knew that she was treading in dangerous waters but she stayed calm.

Superboy didn't know what to say about having a statue. Or about teaming up. Superboy felt out of place. He didn't like talking about his past and he had just said something about it. Not to mention he was confused by the offer. He was a lone wolf. All alone. He didn't understand anybody, even hismelf and being around others just confused him more. Not to mention he already had to share his namesake with Superman. "If I can't do what Superman does all on my own then I'll never be able to live up to my namesake." Superboy said before taking a sip of his water. "I'll always be second best stuck in his shadow if I can't match him on my own."
He picked up a fork and began to eat his food. He didn't understand why she was thanking him. He hadn't done anything. It wasn't like he consented to this. She had dragged him from the apartment and he was not happy the slightest bit in being forced to do anything. He had spent his life inside a test tube being ordered around and controlled. Being told what to do or being forced to do something he didn't want to reminded him of what he had to go through, of what he was. He was a clone. He was created to be a weapon. In his creators minds he was their property, not a living being. Perhaps they were right. But Superboy wasn't going to give up like that.
Superboy's eyes narrowed a bit at the mention of giving him a name. He didn't want a name. Well, that wasn't true. He just wanted Superman to help him with it. He wanted Superman to be there. He wanted Superman to acknowledge him and bestow a name to him. Everyone had someone. He might not of met the other heroes and didn't know much about any of them. Flash had had a sidekick, Batman had a Robin and a Batgirl, Green arrow had a Speedy, Aquaman had an Aqualad and an Aquagirl, Superman already had a Supergirl. He didn't need him and he was only burden. That's why he needed to prove himself. To prove that he didn't need Superman. To prove, without Superman's help that he could not only match him, but eventually surpass him. "That is my only identity. I'm not human, I'm a kryptonian clone. I only have one identity and that's Superboy. I don't need to hide behind a false name."
