Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Father or Fighter? (Roy Harper's Plot Page)

Post by Roy "Arsenal" Harper, Jr. on Feb 15, 2013 21:05:33 GMT -5
The first thing that anyone needs to understand about Roy is that he is far from perfect. He has given up on life up on himself and life completely before and tried to commit suicide. His philandering ways have left him a twenty-four year old single father. He has an addictive personality that once got him hooked on heroine which ruined a large part of his life. He has a bit of a bad boy personality. He likes to playfully poke fun at others. He can be rude, judgmental towards certain people, arrogant, cocky, has a short temper with most people and he can hold a grudge, up to this point, for seven years. But Roy can also be caring, incredibly understanding, helpful and even sweet at times. Roy is a very good person, albeit flawed, who always wants and tries to do what's right. But he makes mistakes. He doesn't always know what's best and his arrogance and stubbornness can blind him from what's right in front of him. It is this arrogance and stubbornness that stopped him from accepting an invitation to join the Justice League earlier in his life because he didn't want to join due to Oliver, Dinah and Hal all being a part of the Justice League. Roy loves his daughter more than anything. She is his whole world. He never does anything without thinking of Lian first. It is because of Lian that he stopped crime fighting, which he loved more than anything other than her, as he felt that being a parent was a full-time job and being a crime-fighter would put her in too much danger. Was it selfish to put his duty as a father above his duty as a crime-fighter? Perhaps. But he's more of a father than he is a superhero. Roy has a strong set of morals. He views drugs as bad, even though he can relate to those who are on them. He himself regrets ever using them. Roy is also a good listener. He loves to help others, especially with drug problems. Hence why he became a counselor for recovering teen drug addicts. Roy needs to help in some way. He hates sitting back and doing nothing. Even though it's been four years since he sported his costume, he still feels the urge to put it on and go out every day. He constantly struggles with his priorities. He constantly questions his own judgement because he hasn't exactly made the right choices in life. He takes things to heart and doesn't blame others. He tends to shoulder the blame and it eats him from the inside like when he had screwed up his life with heroine and tried to commit suicide.
I'm open to pretty much everything. Roy is still a civilian though he will eventually become a hero again donning a new name, Arsenal. A note though, Roy has held a grudge against Green Arrow, Black Canary and Green Lantern (Hal) for seven years now as when Ollie punched him in the face and kicked him out leaving him on the street still addicted to heroine, neither Hal, whom he viewed as an uncle, nor Dinah, whom he viewed as a motherly figure, came to his aid. He knows what he did is wrong and he deeply regrets all of the bad things he did, however, he has always felt that they left him out on the street to die.

AH! I totally want to thread with Roy!! Mia did take his old name after all Speedy. Though she is currently near Oliver she would love to see Roy again. After all she still has the arrows he gave her and all, though I could see her big mouth getting to him like it does Oliver and sometimes the Titans. He would of also been one of the first one's to know of Mia's HIV status and know her weakness? I am not sure.. Im blabbering now. haha.

Yeah I think that Roy and Mia would get along well, though he and Oliver would be a completely different story. I think they'd get along because both have had rather troubled pasts and Roy would be a good listener for her being he helps people who have drug histories and other things that have scarred them as he is a teen counselor though that's just with recovering addicts. He wouldn't be judgmental and he;d be rather understanding from where she's coming from being he's made bad choices in his life and has had to do things he wishes he hadn't. I can also see them having a couple of arguments about Roy and Oliver's bad relationship as I could see her maybe wanting them to reunite and get back on good terms after all the years he's held his grudge. During oen fight she might be angry at him because she is more open with him and has told him about her HIV status and previous problems, yet he hasn't given the full details of what happened between himself and GA. Then there could be a separate thread with him going to her and apologizing or whatever and telling her the full story of the falling out between himself and Ollie. I can also see her asking about if he ever thinks about returning to the hero game or something. I think he'd like Mia because other than lacking a heroine addiction she kind of reminds him of himself back in his five years with the original Teen Titans.

Yea they can relate on many levels I could also see mia going to Roy about her problems with Oliver and hiding at his home from him haha. But what idea to do first? Though mia could also go to him on inside tips to the titans? And maybe get him to shoot arrows with her at trees maybe?

Perhaps the first thread could be her coming and hiding from Ollie and voicing some of her misgivings about Ollie and Roy giving his opinions and what not. The second thread could be the shooting arrows idea and maybe her asking or the full story between him and Ollie. The third could be him apologizing and giving the story.

Oh I could see Mia telling Roy all about how Oliver didn't want her to be speedy but she had to agree to be a Titan to do so and all haha. She could also tell him that Oliver won't let her do this or that but that she's old enough now to choose her own choices and all lol. Though her cocktail of medications she takes now and then could be one maybe because Oliver knows she's weak at that Time? So she's how's to Roy to escape his no's demands? I like the second one that would be fun too Roy and Mia shooting arrows and chatting. Maybe she'll try to shoot the use in case of an emergency arrow? Haha. That would give Roy a scare maybe? Mm in the third she could also ask Roy to make up with Ollie? So that the arrow family can be an actual family again and not broken apart?

Oh, god if she tried to use the emergency arrow Roy might just have a mini-freak out and be like 'are you trying to get us killed?' or something. It'd be funny. Roy would be all stubborn if she asked him to rekindle with Ollie, though it'd be fun to roleplay her asking and his reaction within the thread. If she called him part of the Arrow family he would tell her that he hasn't been a hero for our years and he hasn't been part of the Arrow family for seven years. A rather stubborn answer yes but definitely a Roy answer. Would you like to start the first thread in other states or should I?

I have six characters, going on seven soon, haha, but only two sound like they could be interesting to plot with Roy with to me.
Chris and Roy As he is already getting his feet wet in the DC universe, being a Titan and all and meeting all these heroes, Chris should meet Roy, too. I'm thinking just as himself for now, and not as Darkhawk. That can be later. Maybe, Chris would sit in on one of Roy's drug addict support groups for a school project, with a friend, or something? I'm not sure if that's such a good idea, but it is one.
Cole and Roy Could Cole and Roy be old friends, like Mia and Roy are? Grifter has a bit of a grudge against Green Arrow, too, and has always been freelance so pretty much hasn't gotten close to any one group or person. They could have met anywhere, at any point in time, worked together, met at a bar or something, whatever, the possibilities are endless :)

What type of relationship would you like to explore with these two? Do you still want to play out the two not speaking or would you like Canary to approach him? :3

Bahahaha I can see her being like wut? At the daughter bit xD Sounds good to me, she doesn't approve of the drugs or the path he went down and I'm somewhat sure she feels somewhat responsible since she was caught up in Ollie to desert Roy. Where is he right now? I can have that canary found him and is making a visit to him or followed him to where he would be such as fighting crime or something. I'm down for a thread but as you know I can't exactly do an awesome start.

Chris & Roy: I think they'd get along well. Maybe when he becomes a hero again he can even hire him as a baby sister once or twice lol. But yeah, I can see them meeting at a basketball court or something like that or maybe at a park that Roy's watching his daughter at. When he gets back in the hero game he might help out the Teen Titans here and there like he did with the last incarnation of the TT so they'll also work together as Darkhawk and Arsenal from time to time as well. Grifter and Roy: They could be old friends from Roy's days as Red Arrow and perhaps their paths could have crossed a few times while Roy was working for the CBI. They'd know each others secret identities. While Roy is not against some light drinking here and there, he is very careful with drinking as he does have an addicting personality, though perhaps they could play pool at a bar together hanging out? I also think that working together as heroes (once he becomes Arsenal) would be good as well. They've also both got their grudge against Ollie. Chris and RoyBaby-sitter? Lol, that would be amazing xD My man needs a night or two off the streets. :P I can see them meeting somewhere public and random as well. Perhaps Chris would take his brothers there to play, too. It's always interesting when you meet someone and then find out they could be of some weight in your life later. It's like a, "Oh. Now this makes sense." sorta thing. I know that if not before they'll definitely meet through the Titans, so it's inevitable either way. Cole and RoyHow far back was it when he was Red Arrow? Five years, or so? Cole could have still been with the Berets, so depending on wether they were acquaintances or some semblance of friends back then Roy would either be shocked at Cole's behavior now or not at all. They don't necessarily have to drink together, but the bar & pool does sound like a good idea and fun. Just warnin' ya, Cole is great at pool, and if he gets just a bit too light-hearted, he isn't against using his telekinesis to mess your shot up xD And working together, yesyesyes. The grudge is also a thing too, though I have a feeling in the end Cole will get the short end o the stick >_>

Roy and Mia: It's fine, we all have days we're gone. Today I had to help my aunt move, but I just replied. :)
Roy and Dinah: Yeah, he has an apartment in Star City. She could have found out where he lived or followed him to where he lived either or. I could start the thread.
Roy and Chris: Yeah, would you like to start the thread or me?
Roy and Cole: Four years, so pretty close. Hmm . . . would he be shocked. I don't know. Perhaps at somethings. Excessive drinking might surprise Roy. Lol, him using his tele to screw with his shot. Priceless. I've always said I could never be trusted with telekinesis in real life because I'd be doing shit like that 24/7. XD Would you like to start the pool thread or should I?
