Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

First Day On The Job [SHIELD People]

High above the clouds of the Earth, a single Quinjet made its way towards the floating SHIELD Helicarrier. The crew was a standard one, a couple of pilots and some armed guards. This jet, however, carried an extra passenger. A new agent for SHIELD, actually. Agent Gino Perry. It had a nice ring to it, Gino thought. He glanced over the debriefing package he had received before getting on the jet, while muttering the words to himself. "Uhhh, founded in the year...blah blah blah....combat foes above and beyond the normal military...blah blah blah....New York invasion...blah blah blah...Avengers...ooh, that sounds good." One of the soldiers glanced at him through his helmet. Gino could tell he thought that he was weird. He didn't need to be a telepath to tell that, but it certainly helped a lot. He didn't really mind. Truth be told, he was weird. He was very weird. It was sort of his defining trait outside of his I-am-actually-dead thing.
Still, he risked a small voyage into the minds of the other agents accompanying, just to limber up his powers in case he got given an aptitude test, which was highly unlikely. Still, it never hurt to be prepared. glancing over to the armed guard sitting opposite him, he put two fingers to his temples, and started to hear whispers inside his head.
"My new daughter. I'm a dad. Imagine that. Wait until I tell the commander. He'll be so happy."
This guard had nice thoughts. Gino pulled out of that brain, and went into the others'.
"It's over. That's what she said."
"This new guy seems a bit...I don't know, weedy, to be one of us."
"Agent Washington is kinda hot. Too bad she's dating that freak Wilson. Otherwise, she'd be all over me."
What a variety of thoughts in this small space. Truly, the diversity of the human spirit knew no bounds.
The interior jumped a little bit as the Quinjet touched down on the flight deck of the Helicarrier. The armed agents filed out first, followed by Gino, who took a long look over the multiple technicians at work on the planes dotted around the flight deck. Gino had been told that an agent would greet him when he arrived. So where were they?

[style=padding: 0px 10px;]Sharon wasn't entirely sure why she was supposed to play welcome wagon to the new recruit today, after all the blonde was sure he wasn't even supposed to end up under her general command, but she wasn't going to argue with the higher ups. So there she stood on the flight deck in her freshly dry cleaned white catsuit, which was quickly becoming her trademark even though she was sure that Fury would have preferred if she blended in with everyone elses black or blue suits, waiting for the fresh meat to arrive and wondering why she wasn't doing something actually productive, like the mountain of paperwork she still needed to fill out on the drug ring her crew had busted last week.
Really, he didn't see her? She was the only one on the entire Helicarrier wearing white and he didn't see her, minus two for the new guy already, Sharon was really a painfully harsh judge to the new recruits. To the point that she was sure a few of them referred to her as the she-devil in white, because this really wasn't the type of jump for people who couldn't take some pain, be it emotional, physical or mental. If they couldn't cut it, they ran the risk of getting themselves and others killed, and so Sharon liked to weed out the weak ones before it got to that point.
Hands behind her back, posture rigidly straight she was essentially looking down her nose at the new guy as she stepped forward and cleared her throat, "Agent Perry I presume?" She looked him over quickly, she couldn't say he looked like much from where she was standing, but everyone had a talent if they made it this far, and judging a book by the cover was dangerous in this business, "I'm Sharon Carter, Agent Thirteen to most," Most everyone called her by her codename most of the time anyway, her greeting was essentially short and to the point, there was no reason to dilly dally after all, "Welcome to the Helicarrier, I trust you read the debriefing packet that was handed to you carefully correct?" If not well then he was going to find a good few things out the hard way as he went along.
"Since it's your first day on the job, it seems to have landed on me to give you the grand tour, I recommend paying attention, I don't like repeating myself and if you get lost, not many people will be inclined to go looking for you," In fact they sometimes let the rookies fend for themselves if they decided to get lost, it taught them a lesson on paying attention to their surroundings and built character at the same time, "This as you can see is the landing deck, if you follow me inside we have the central command center," With that Sharon turned on her heels and started walking inside, nodding to a few of the crew members as she walked past, either the new guy kept up or was left behind.

Gino jumped when he was tapped on the shoulder. He wasn't actually expecting that. Still, it was nice to finally meet another agent outside of the one that came to his house. Immediately, he was a little flustered just by looking at her catsuit. Did all the female agents wear things like that? "Yes, I'm Gi...uh, I mean Agent Perry." He was going to have to get used to that from now on. It was, after all, his official working title. "It's nice to meet you, Agent 13. Or is it Agent Carter?" He wasn't very sure with all these code-names being slung around. Would he get his code-name used in place of his real one? Hopefully, that would only be limited to missions.
"Yep, I read the whole thing. Very detailed. I may have skimmed over some of it." he admitted. "Just the minor details about the whole New York invasion thing. I think, seeing as I was kind of there, I didn't need to know the nitpicky stuff." He left out the fact that he had actually died there. He assumed this "Agent 13" already knew that. Then again, that was assuming that his file had been read. This agent didn't really seem like the reading type, in his mind.
"Indeed. It's a very nice flight de...hey, wait!" Gino jumped and rushed after his pseudo-tour guide. "Sorry about that. I, uh, didn't expect you to go that quickly." He had a feeling that this was going to be a very comprehensive tour.

[style=padding: 0px 10px;]"Either one works," Sharon quipped quickly, the blonde would respond to either name after all, and they were usually interchanged when it came to her. SHIELD really was her life, and there was a blur between where the regular Sharon Carter ended and the SHIELD agent began, this was what she did and who she was. And right now she was staring down this poor, strange little man and she was beginning to think that maybe he didn't have the stuff to survive here. She could be wrong, Sharon had been proven surprised by new recruits before, but she was going to be watching the rookie closely.
The blonde frowned slightly, "Everyone needs to know the nitpicky stuff, the small things make up a bigger picture that might get you killed for not paying attention to," Sharon reprimanded, a slight shake of her head as she spoke. Everything in there was in there for a reason, skimming over anything meant losing something that was potentially very important. But she supposed he would find that out quickly or he would end up dying, again. Yes she had read the file, of course she had Sharon was known to do her job and do it right after all.
And speaking of job, they had ground to cover and he needed to keep up, "You have to be ready for anything now," Sharon said offhandedly when he finally caught up to her, brisk strides down the hall, "We have a lot of ground to cover and no time to dwell," The blonde didn't mean to come off quite so cold, but she was all business, this wasn't about making friends, this was about making sure he was prepared. She turned a corner, another few brisk strides, "This is the control room, as you can see," They could see out onto the flight from the large windows, computers surrounding them and people diligently working away on this and that, "Over there is a general debriefing station," On of many depending on the moment, normally they were called into Fury's office, "Off we go, by the way, there's a bathroom over there," She pointed down a smaller hall off to the left before walking away again, "I'm going to show you where the cafeteria is,"

"Yeah, but it was nitpicky to the extreme." Gino pointed out. "It said how may metric tonnes of debris was recovered. I don't need to know that." It was true. The SHIELD boffs must enjoy being as nitpicky as all heck. Why else would he be complaining? Granted, this was probably going to be the best job in the world, but metric tonnes of debris? Really? There was a fine line between getting in some good detail and going right of the frigging deep end. Gino assumed that the SHIELD guys were unable to distinguish the line at the time.
Ah, the command center. The hub of all activity on the Helicarrier. It was exhilerating for Gino just to be standing here. Out of the corner of his eye, he could have sworn he saw a man playing Galaga, but ignored it for now. Maybe he could bring it up later, or maybe play some Galaga himself. Now that would be fun. At the mention of a cafeteria, his ears pricked up. He was paying full attention now. If this cafeteria had a toaster, or served toast extra-buttery, he would be in the most blissful militaristic heaven there was. "Lead on, Carter!" he said with renewed vigor.
