Okay so I thought it'd be fun if we had a thread where we can list like top 5's, 10's, 15's or what not and our opinions on each others lists for fun. Note that none of the characters listed in the lists are based off of the characters as they're played here, but as I read them in the comics. So without further ado I present to you the first list: My Top Fifteen Comic Book Characters To Party With!
15. Sam Guthrie/Cannonball- Sam is incredibly laid-back and hardly every gets too serious unless he has to. He knows how to not be serious and lay back and relax. He knows how to party hard if it comes down to it, yet still retain his laid-back persona. He is quick with a joke and is a goodhearted person. He is good-looking, funny and fun to be around. He's well written and unique and would offer color and interest to the party and add diversity among the party goers. He is a bit of a red neck hailing from a rural town in the deep south with a huge family that make a Tyler Perry movie seem like it doesn't have enough family members. Most of his family are also mutants. So you can bet he probably has tons of fun stories to share. He is also a big science fiction fan which means even more interesting topics to talk about. Sam is also incredibly polite and 'salt of the earth'. In this sense Sam is also a very nice person. He's the kind of guy who'll hold a girl's hair back while she pukes. So he'll be there through the good moments of the party and the bad. He's not the guy that's just going to leave if the party hits a slow bump or something.
14. Katherine "Kitty" Pride/Shadowcat - Kitty is good looking and knows how to let her hair down sometimes. She knows how to have fun when she does get the chance. Kitty is also one of the x-men which gives her a lot of cool stories to tell and a lot of funny stories about Wolverine, Cyclops and Gambit arguing or fighting. Despite the fact that she knows how to let her hair down and have fun, Kitty is also a sweet, caring and somewhat deep person who is cool to talk to if you do get the chance to do so.
13. Remy Lebeau/Gambit - Gambit would be an awesome guest. I can already see Remy, The Thing (smoking a cigar), Power Girl, Hal and Tony sitting around a table playing poker. Gambit is an great gambler and it'd be cool to take a shot at him. Not only that, but I'd like to have a round of darts against him too. He seems like the kind of guy that if you were on the right side of him you could sit and talk for hours making jokes and comparing past events trying to top each other. Plus I hear he makes some mean Cajun food. And c'mon? Who wouldn't want that awesome accent at their party? It makes seem cooler and makes it more diverse. Remy is a guy who would make the party more dynamic. I can see a developing bromance between him and Hal. He is laid-back and easy enough to get along with. And think of all the thief tricks and card tricks he could show you for a couple of kicks? He has a surprising amount of charm and knows his way with words very well.
12. Dick Grayson/Nightwing - Nightwing is drop dead gorgeous, however, his looks are a distant second to his incredible intelligent which means that you can have an intellectual conversation with him as well as gape. He is more than just a pretty boy. Despite being incredibly hard-working and the fact that he can get caught up in his super heroic duties, Dick knows how to relax and lay low when he has to. He is sanguine and has a certain charm to him that makes it hard for people not to like him. He can be smooth and has a nice sense of humor that goes well in a party atmosphere. He can be quite the romantic and knows how to have fun. He can be relaxed and laid-back and then serious if he needs to be. He would be a great wing man, though you should be careful that the girl doesn't fall for him before you. Dick is also highly regarded as the greatest acrobatic in the DC universe so it would be awesome to see some pretty cool gymnastics performed. Maybe he'll show off his quadruple flip by performing it by jumping off the roof of the house and into a pool?
11. Donna Troy/Wonder Girl/Troia - Donna is the girl-next-door superheroine; she's an all-American version of her sometime sister and mentor, Wonder Woman. She is incredibly driven and a perfectionist; however, above all else Donna is incredibly and uncommonly nice. She's the type of person everyone should instinctively love. She's a a prom queen and was the heart of the Teen Titan's group. As such she will be the heart of the party. Donna is so loving and nice that theoretically even the most alienated people would not resent her. She is very beautiful and well-heeled. She is sexy, yet at the same time has an innate wholesomeness and modesty about her. She just draws people to herself. She knows how to have a fun time when she gets the chance and will have a fun time.
10. Ben Grimm/The Thing - With the whole self-loathing I'm a monster thing gone, The Thing has less a chance of scaring others and feels more comfortable around other people. He'd be a great center-piece at your party as he has been everywhere and done everything so he not only has an endless supply of incredible stories to tell, but he also can relate to whatever story you tell and make funny jokes regarding it. He has that funny insulting kind of funny in which he points out other people's flaws in a brutally honest, yet hilarious manner and usually in good natured fun as not to offend anybody. He would just be very fun to be around and can give you endless advice due to the fact he has been everywhere and done everything.
9. Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk - Jen can turn into a gamma-powered bombshell so it's not a good idea to make her angry. The most interesting thing about her is that she's a lawyer in the marvel universe! Think about that for a moment. A lawyer in the marvel universe. In the marvel universe even the simplest of legal cases can be made interesting. Property disputes involving the Baxter Building, Avengers Mansion, Stark Tower or the X-mansion. Drunk drivers operating time machines. Labor laws pertaining to ageless, immortal children. Can you imagine all of the interesting stories she'd have to tell about not only the cases she's worked on, but those she'd heard about during her time practicing superhero law? It's endless. There would be no end to the amount of interesting and funny stories. Plus she's also a lawyer which means she's also smart and you can have an actual intellectual conversation with her. Did I mention that she doesn't turn into an ugly brute when she goes Hulk-mode?
8. Hal Joran/Green Lantern - Hal Jordan was a complete thrill-seeker with a thirst for danger long before he received a green lantern power ring. He was a test-pilot. His entire life has been one long exercise in proving he's not afraid of anything. This is the hilarious guy from every jackass video willing to roll off of a roof inside a shopping cart. Hal would be the entertainment for the party. You'd be up for the greatest game of truth or dare in history because he'll take any dare you throw at him and say "is that it?" Not to mention he can dream up anything with that ring of his, including a sweet sound system and then create a sound-proof protective bubble around it so that you don't piss off your neighbors and have the cops called on you for a public disturbance. The bubble would also stop any super villains from coming and crashing the party.
7. Bart Allen/Impulse/Kid Flash II - Bart Allen would be a great party guest. He's clever, smart-mouthed, quick-witted and just grateful to be at the party to begin with. He is hyper-active without annoying most people and always has something funny to say. He's the rare sort of kid who could hang out at an adult party without acting immature or trying to act like an adult. He's also very resourceful and can come in hand. If you run out of food he can make a food run in a split second making a quick run to the food store or wherever you might want to get your food. Not to mention, when the party is finally over he can clean it all up in under a second and not complain about having had to do all the work. Also, if anyone's too drunk to drive home, he can get them there in a flash without any trouble whatsoever.
6. Jamie Madrox/Multiple-Man - Jamie's power would certainly come in handy at the party. He can create many dupes which can in turn help serve food, cook, serve as a bouncer/security to make sure only people with invites get in, he could help clean up with his many duplicates and he could also send out his duplicates to pick up food. Also, his duplicates can serve as designated drivers so drink to your hearts content! Not only does Jamie's power bring a lot to the table for the party, but he is also fun to have around. He has an odd, cool sense of humor and is usually very laid-back and doesn't take too much seriously. I think out of everyone at the party the two people who would get along the most would be Powergirl and Jamie. Jamie is also very funny and knows how to make others laugh and lighten the mood.
5. Zatanna - Most magicians are reserved for young children's birthday parties in which they show lame tricks that most adults can figure out the first time around. Though that is not to say magic tricks are not cool. If you get a mature magician who knows some really awesome tricks they'd be great entertainment to have around. However, Zatanna doesn't just do tricks, she brings it to another level and does actual magic. She can turn water into into wine and should the police come she can cast a magic spell over the Cuban cigars, booze, illegal fireworks and the passed out drunk girl so that the police can't find any of it. She can enliven any dull party at any given time with her magic. However, the best part would be her ability to open doorways into other realms and to teleport people. Suddenly your partying on the Eiffel Tower or the Bahamas or King Tut's Tomb or well, you get it. You know that one obnoxious jerk at every party? Well she can legitimately make him talk out of his ass for the rest of the night.
4. Mary Jane "MJ" Watson - MJ was created to be a wild child in buttoned-downed Peter Parker's life. She has a vibrant personality and is an actress/singer/dancer/whatever which means she has no problems cutting loose. She loves to be the center of attention, yet somehow she manages to not devolve into the 'loud drunk girl at the party'. While on the surface she might seem to be a girl who just wants to have fun, she is actually a pretty deep person. So if you do get some quite time with her, she is just as much fun to talk to as she is to dance with.
3. Wade Wilson/Deadpool - Deadpool is the funny guy. The life of the party. The party guy. How could we not include him? Having him at your party would be like having a crazy version of Seth MacFarland in your house! Or having Family Guy in your house! Or having the Teddy bear Ted from that movie Ted inside your house! But instead of a talking teddy bear he's a superhero. His fourth wall jokes would be so confusing, yet somehow hilarious and his frustration would eventually end with him taking a sledgehammer to a wall. However, you don't care because you're laughing too damn hard. Besides, you've already got Bart Allen who can fix it in a under a second so it's no harm done really. He takes the best aspects of The Thing and Hal Jordan and incorporates them into himself. He'll say anything and he'll do anything. The night would inevitably turn into Hal and Wade competing to see who is less fearless. His remarks about the various trends in superhero comics and pop culture will probably piss off all of the other guests, but you'll be laughing so damn hard you wouldn't even notice.
2. Karen Starr/Power Girl - Other than her good looks, Power Girl brings some really cool attributes to your party. She seems like a cool woman. Her sense of humor and dead-pan acceptance of her body, powers and history shows she's not the kind of girl to take things too seriously which means she doesn't have much of a chance of getting into a fight with someone or argue a lot. She seems like the type who would talk to a geeky guy or a mutant that looks like some kind of monstrous abomination if they had to something interesting to say. Perhaps talk sports with the jocks. Or make some good natured jokes. Or drink any dude there other than maybe Tony Stark under the table. She has the ability to be one of the guys, while also being better to look at that the guys.
1. Tony Stark/Iron Man - Was there really any doubt? Tony Stark would be the absolute best party guest of all time. No exceptions. He'd start it all off by landing a jet or something in front of your house. He would bring with him an endless supply of money, booze and super models. Unlike Bruce Wayne whose alter-ego Batman is the worst party guest of all time, Tony doesn't pretend to like parties. He freaking loves them. Putting on the Iron Man suit doesn't change his personality. He is just Tony Stark just in armor that shoots lasers and most likely has some kind of awesome stereo built in for such occasions as the party at hand. And it will be like freaking military grade stereo. Like if you even try to put on like say Justin Beiber, it'll shoot you with a laser. I'm pretty sure he'll also pay the John William's orchestra to come up with his own theme song for when he lands the jet in front of your house and swaggers in like it's no big deal. As if everyone else came in the same way and there's a line of jets parked outside. He will have amazing and hilarious stories, can give funny insights to his teammates and overall be an extremely interesting guest. The only downfall would be that every girl would be paying more attention to him than any of the other guys.
