The site was started back in June and it has done wonderfully up until now. When the site was started months ago it was active and one of the most fun places to be for many of us. However, in the past two months the activity has begun to wane. We've noticed for years now that boards generally have a life span of six months and we'd love for Won't Back Down to surpass that and continue for as long as it can. One of the main problems that we've observed is that the canons are hardly involved. There are threads that stick to just that respective canon's fandom instead of taking the opportunity to branch out and explore new options. It seems that our original characters have been a bit more involved than the canons and while that's awesome, there is also a negative as well.
If we wanted our canons to post once or twice a month then we would have created an alternate universe in which the canons have little to do with anything. In the rules it states that if you can't post are frequently as required then maybe you shouldn't have taken said canon, or canons. Need a refreshment?
TWELVE - speaking of canon characters, activity is a must! lets face it, people really want to play with batman, superman, the avengers and so on so please be sure you can make the commitment before taking the character. canons need to post at least twice a week, sound good? again, really looking for active members, canon and oc.
We get that people have things going on with their lives, we as admin do too. The best way to go about keep us off your backs is to post an away if you're not going to be around to post much. If you're on other sites, that's totally and completely fine as once again the admins are as well. The admins on this site spend a lot of time with the plot and trying to think of things that will please our members and keep them interested in the site. But when there are plot threads that need to be finished they should have priority over the other threads as there are several involved that are waiting and sometimes results in players waiting three weeks to an entire month for a person to post when it is pivotal for another person's plot.
But the admins have canons that aren't active! This is true. There are discussions between the three of us as far as if we're dropping the characters and if we don't then our characters, too, are going to be included with the removal. Removal? I shall tell you! Until the end of January our canons have that long to do something otherwise your character(s) will be removed from the site. If you can't be active with all of your characters then we see that as an issue. We do not want our members stressed because of the board, we want to help alleviate the stresses. You're more than welcome to control the NPC for the character if you realize you don't have time to give to the character but it's needed for other things. Sometimes we take on too many characters then end up overwhelmed and stress thus losing the muse for the character.
There are issues as far as people not being interested in threading with a character but let's be honest, how can that really happen given all the awesome characters we have on the board? There are villains and there are heroes galore as well as everything in between. Plots can happen if you actually take the time to make them as well as follow up in plotters when people reply. I will say this time and time again that keeping your own character in a box and just threading with one or two characters is severely limiting yourself, the character, and others who have an interest in playing with you.
Please feel free to post in this thread with any suggestions or questions you have. Communication is key for everything and we'd like to keep everyone happy though we know some will be upset by this. If you want to know if your character is effected then please feel free to PM one of the admins, Devi or Dom, and we'll discuss anything you need to know.
