Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

So this was the place she had heard so much about- a restaurant focused on heroes, with themed foods and discounts for people who were into the whole world-saving business. Of course she had wanted to see it for quite some time, but she was not capable of flight and getting herself to the location had taken some arranging. Thankfully, Perry had agreed that a story about the new place was just the kind of fluff piece they needed to augment some of the more dramatic things that had happened of late. So she had been sent to look the place over, try the food, and offer her thoughts on both the place itself, and her thoughts on what it offered the community.
Really, though, she just wanted to see if she could meet and interview some heroes. Beyond that, hey, maybe she could get a date with someone eating there. Had to be good people going to a place for heroes, right?
She had to wonder how long it would be before one of the villains tried to make it go boom.
Moving inside the building, Lois couldn't help but smile at the decor. It felt like she had just walked back in time, and not to a particularly bad place in history, either. It was warm and inviting, as were the staff. Definitely not the kind of uniform she would like to wear- it was good she didn't have any set dress code. Still, they looked like they were having fun and there was no faulting them for that. All in all, she found the first impressions of the place on the positive side- it was a lovely little establishment, just as everyone had said it was.
After getting a table, she slipped herself down, making sure her skirt didn't ride up from the effort. Damn. She probably should have worn something more comfortable. Sighing to herself, she raised a menu, looking over the themed foods with a bit of a smile and the occasional chuckle. Well, they certainly went all out on the fun of the place, didn't they? Some of the references, however, she didn't quite catch.
"Hey," she offered to whomever happened to be nearest, "does anyone know what a symbiote is?" Yeah, she probably wasn't going to be acting much like a reporter during her stay there. The atmosphere and fun of the place had put her in too light of a mood.
All she wanted to do was find someone to talk to and have a nice lunch. Maybe get someone to pay for the pretty lady in the nice skirt.
A girl could dream.

Ever since the Eatery was opened, the joint was busy non-stop. Steve would be there to open, and then would sometimes leave till close because of the amount of increased business. Call in orders and dine-ins would sometimes flood the kitchen, causing the Captain to go in the back to help his chefs and cooks. Danii took care of the front of house, being pregnant and all. She was very good with people, and Steve was good with his meat temps. The community enjoyed the fresh food that came out of the kitchen everyday. Within the first few days of opening, regulars grew frequent. People loved seeing their city's heroes, along with enjoying the great food. It was the best of both worlds.
It was just another busy day, where the restaurant carried almost a full house. The phones were ringing non-stop, but thankfully all the workers were present. Steve was dressed in a dirty white tee, along with a pair of beige cargo pants. He'd spent all morning prepping the food, and helping the kitchen out with orders. Steve loved to cook, but when other business hailed, he would leave it up to his executive chef to carry the cavalry. He enlisted his full trust in his employees, not only being a Captain in the military, but a Captain in the kitchen. Captain came from the kitchen and noticed how packed the restaurant really was. Lots of people immediately spotted the patriotic hero, only causing him to reveal a small grin. He was used to the fame, but in the end it was his job to protect the rights and freedom of others.
Rogers threw his sweat towel back over his shoulder, and spotted a woman sitting by herself. For some reason, he felt like he recognized her from somewhere. Sure enough, it was Lois Lane of the Daily Planet. He walked over to the booth, and revealed a wide smile. "What are you having today, Miss Lane?" he asked as he looked down at her.

No one had answered her question, but she supposed that was a little expected. It wasn't normal for people to suddenly scream out in the middle of a busy diner and ask a completely random question. Maybe she had spent too much time in the Daily Planet, and had lost proper social skills. The place was busy, and it felt like she was the only one who was there on her own. Frowning, she sank a little in her booth, looking down at the menu once more.
Oh well. Her phone could tell her what a symbiote was- Siri wouldn't leave her alone.
she had gotten so carried away typing on her phone, battling a weak connection, that she failed to notice the large shadow that had been cast over the table. It was only when a voice broke the silence that had surrounded her, and only her given how busy the place was, that she let out a small yelp of surprise. Having jumped, she looked up at the tall man standing in front of her, she offered a nervous, embarrassed sort of laugh, stuffing her phone away so she could at least attempt to pull herself together.
"You startled me!" she laughed, though soon paused when she actually too in the sight in front of her. Tall, muscular, ridiculously handsome- this was Captain America, wasn't it? She had read some articles about him, and his perfectly sculpted face was not something easily forgotten. And he recognized her, too.
Surprising.
Realizing she had been staring like a smitten high school girl, she let out another laugh, looking quickly down at the menu. "Well, to be honest, I wasn't sure what to order. I don't really know a lot of these names, but everything does look really good. What would you suggest, big boy? You own this place, right? You're Steve?"

Steve's bright smile lit up the room, as he sat down in the booth across from her. This was definitely Lois Lane of Metropolis, and getting her on his side would've been a great step for the restaurant to receive more clientele. If they were able to grab the attention from the residents of Metropolis, then the restaurant would've turned out to be more of a success. Lots of residents across Gotham and Metropolis had no clue of the new Steve's Eatery, and Steve wanted everyone to know about it. He had big plans for Steve's, and so did Lady Liberty. She was a great business partner, and proved to be a valuable asset to the business. She was ambitious and motivated with the restaurant, even though she had a child on the way. Steve knew she was a strong woman from the second he worked with her, and that was the reason as to why he liked her. Besides being a great businesswoman, she was also one hell of a SHIELD agent who could take care of her own.
"I apologize for startling you ma'm, I knew I recognized you" he spoke with his blue eyes meeting her's. She was a beautiful woman, and it wasn't too hard in recognizing Lois Lane. Steve had visited Metropolis a few times to meet Mayor Fleming, and always carried a copy of the Daily Planet with him while being in the city. He recognized her from the pictures, but didn't realize how good looking she was in person. Cap watched as she scanned the menu, but quickly asked him his opinion on what to chow on. He continued holding his grin, "Hmmm lots of people come back for our Fury Steak which is cooked to your liking, with two sides of your choice... I'm personally a protein freak, so I enjoy New York Strips, but If you're trying to go healthy or you're more on the veggie side, I would recommend the Hulk Veggie Burger" he spoke as he scanned his index finger along the items.
Steve knew how to take care of his customers, because he was a people person. He was kind to everyone, even though he had some particular customers who came in with a bad day upon their heads. Rogers wasn't surprised, because when dealing with the food industry, there were always going to be those mean and agitated customers. "Why yes ma'm, I am Captain Steve Rogers at your service" he spoke as he saluted. She definitely came prepared with her facts right, and he wouldn't have been surprised that she knew his long life story. Lois Lane was a reporter after all, which made her a woman needy for straight facts. "So... Are you here for business or pleasure?" he asked kindly, wanting to know what brought her out here to the big apple. Whatever meal she'd decided, would've definitely been on the house. Lois Lane wasn't a woman to walk into just any restaurant, and he wanted her to feel like she was welcome anytime.

Lois listened as he talked about what to order, though mostly because she liked listening to the way he spoke. He had a nice, gentle voice, though she knew from that body that he probably wasn't the quiet, out of the way type. No, he was probably brace and daring, always saving those in need without looking for any kind of reward. A hero, similar to Superman in many ways. He couldn't fly, maybe, but he did have just as silly of a costume as Superman, and he had a fun shield to sling around at all the bad guys. No doubt he was a very loved hero in his own world.
Though she was more interested in the tone than what was being said, that didn't mean she wasn't paying attention. She let out a small laugh when he mentioned the hulk burger, despite the reference being lost on her. "Me and healthy don't really mix," she admitted, "I'm the kind of girl who'll go home and eat a tub of ice cream on her own while watching crappy romance movies... which I probably shouldn't have told you." Well great, there went one of her deep, dark secrets. But it wasn't like she didn't make up for it by making sure she kept in shape and looked damn fine- there was no way anyone could tell her she didn't look good. Sure, maybe she didn't look like some kind of a masterpiece like the man sitting with her, but she wasn't a slouch in the looks department. If only she could find a man who would appreciate that and not fly off to stop a comet or beat up a bad guy. She needed a nice, normal, non-super boyfriend to help her forget about her disparaging love of Superman.
Bummer, then, than she only seemed to attract the hero-types. And the villain types that went along with them.
"That steak sounds good. I think I'll give it a try. Medium rare, if you're asking." She smiled at him, happy that she'd asked. Now that she was actually going to be getting some food, she found herself realizing just how hungry she was. The captain asked her, so politely, what she was doing there, and she shrugged her shoulders merrily. "I came all the way here just to check out the place," she replied honestly, "I thought that maybe since this seems to be a place connected to the other side of the fence, I might meet some people from the other dimension. And I did, so my plan kind of worked out perfectly. Getting food is just a great bonus."
It was what she wanted, though she was sure she would over load him with questions if he gave her half a chance. About his world and how it worked. About the differences in locations and what might have stood in metropolis' place. Was it another city? Or was it like the other cities were all just slightly larger, taking up the room where Metropolis had once been?
There were the things she thought about.
