Even though the ten bodies that occupy that space dampen it somewhat, it still is loud and clear over in the next alleyway. That doesn’t matter, though, there is no one around- except perhaps a couple drunks and prostitutes. "I— I don't know what happened to today's shipment, okay?" The ragged, dirty man, pinned to the wall by a group of thugs, stammered in response. "Honest, It's not my fault that the stuff didn't get here." His cheek meeting cold brick as his chest is forced to the wall, he glances around nervously. He is about three feet shorter than the huge, hulking, Bane-like men swarming around him. Sweating on the outside, stammering, pleading for mercy, the shorter man seems like the genuine addicted Acid dealer, but on the inside, he’s cool, collected, and not even on the verge of taking drugs, He knows he can take them all out, simply with one of the pistols he has stashed in his pockets. ”Eugene, you better hand them over before we beat the living daylights out of you. We thought that you were getting stingier with them, and were expecting the day that this would happen. So, we’re ready.” Grinning devilishly, the man pulled a gun and put the barrel to his poor victim’s head. Beginning to sob, “Eugene” turned his head and face back to the wall, pleading with the man to spare him. He has everyone grinning. That is good, he thinks, calculating, but not cold thoughts running through the small spaces of his brain. This is dangerous, he knows, and one wrong move could mean death for him, and another wrong move could result in one of these other nine criminals dead too. And he doesn’t want that. Slowly, ever so slowly, his hand reaches to his left pants pocket. When he’s there, he lingers for a moment, grasps the pommel of the gun, and with a swift, clean movement-- Now, hold on. Let’s skip back. Who is this “Eugene?” Why is he putting himself in this kind of danger just because he forgot to pick up a shipment of Acid? Well, actually, to set the record straight, Eugene is not his real name. Remove all the prosthetic makeup, the ragged jeans, ripped hoodie, demolished converse, and smelly oils and you’ll find that the short man is none other than SHIELD’s crack sharpshot and secret agent Clinton Barton, the Avenger, Hawkeye. No one knows whose idea it was to infiltrate the streets with packets of Acid-simulating compound (created by Tony Stark, of course) and take down drug rings from the inside, but whoever came up with it was going to get their butts kicked when this was all said and done with. Clint had taken this mission to Star City a few months earlier, thinking that it was going to be a good way to see a city that wasn't as big as Metropolis or Gotham City but still decently big, as well as new sights and friends. However, that was before he was told what he was doing there: pretending to be a drug dealer who would sell drugs to people at a lower charge than the rest of them, and immediately this group had come and been his customers. At first, there had been a lot of acid patches, and money flowed freely between Clint and the thugs. However, as planned, soon Clint started withholding the drug from his frequents, raising the price too to make things even more infuriating. Though the ones he had made “friends” with in the last few weeks were turning on him, he started learning more names and addresses, the information that he had wanted all along, and a few times even stalked his targets, flitting away like a shadow at the earliest sign of suspicions. Much of his findings he had already reported to SHIELD, and they had promptly dealed with most of the threat. Yet, this was dangerous work! As said before, one wrong move could be fatal. Thankfully, Clint was good enough to work this out with no fatal injury. Clint pulled the gun, and almost immediately there were two gunshots. The big man lay on the ground, clutching his side in pain. There was a bullet hole and a crack in the wall where his gun had fired at and missed Clint’s head. Even as his attacker went down the sharpshooter was at work, avoiding the gunshots of fellow flunkies and nabbing them in much the same spot he had the leader. Seven went down, one had gotten away initially (he would be picked up later by a backup unit) and the ninth just barely missed the alleyway corner, out of sight from Clint’s accurate sight, and was literally five inches away from freedom. Soon all the druggies were on the ground, groaning, and Clint wiped his forehead in the night. Backup would be here soon, but for now all he could do was wait for his salvation and make sure no petty addict got away. It was not always her home but when Ollie had taken her it was a home. Mia had decided to go in undercover at first to see what was going on, she knew how a prostitutes looked at acted after all she was one before Oliver had saved her from Richard and that life. Mia giggled as she was in a pair of town pants with red tights on under(well spandex but who paid attention) her long blonde hair was curled in a messy fashion as well as her face being covered in make up as she only word a half top that covered from her chest to her naval in black fabric, she also had a thin grey sweater falling off her arms as she leaned on the wall opposite of a man being beat up it looked like. Mia flirted with a man standing next to her as she listened to the conversation. Ah the acid, so these were the men and the one getting beat had to of been the supplier. Mia wrinkled her nose and made a cute smile as she whispered in the man's ears and kissed his cheek before pulling on his arm taking him off and into another part of the alley were her bike, bow ,arrows and costume was hidden. Mia then quickly knocked out the man with a swing of her right hook to his face, she watched as the man fell on to the ground out like a light before she grabbed a few things off the bike that was hidden in shadows, mia changed by ripping off the jeans and throwing on her top over the black fabric she wore as she there the jeans and shirt over the man's face. He would have a good pain in that jaw when he woke up, that was a fact. Mia had a mean left and right hook from boxing and training with Ollie and Roy, she grabbed her quiver and bow before she placed her mask on that covered her eyes as her hair was still in messy shaggy curls, no time to brush it out she needed that dealer alive. Mia pulled her yellow hood over her head as the cape moved as she climbed up the escape ladder of the building she was near running along the roof as she looked below seeing the barrel to the mans head. "Damn it." She cursed lowly, as Mia stopped and took a red arrow from her quiver getting ready to shoot down one of the men when she saw the dealer seemed to have some weapon of his own. She watched as he took down the thugs and smiled lightly. well most of the work was done for her but Him she needed for a few questions. Mia aimed and fired a red arrow as it landed a few feet in front of the man trying to walk out of the alley way as she moved form the spot she had stopped it shooting another arrow at a building with a rope that came out of it as she swung herself down in front of the man landing a twelve feet in front of him as she already had another arrow ready in mere seconds pointed at his heart this time. " Where do you think you are going. Thought, you could get away with selling Acid in my city?" The woman's one and only down fall, her mouth had just made an appearance, though she often spoke without thinking, shooting an arrow was just about the same in her book. She would not be yelled at by Oliver for killing some Drug dealers provider. Though Getting a light scolding and smack on her wrist would be all at most. " I have questions for you, either come quietly or We can do this the hard way." Mia wanted to say I would not want to hurt your pretty face, but his face was not pretty at all. [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true] He couldn't yet see or hear the helicopters when a fleeing man was stuck through with an arrow that appeared red in the moonlight. Clint, in one smooth motion, stuck the blade into the wall behind him. Friend or foe, this newcomer was bound to think that he was a criminal and naturally be suspicious of him. Doubtless they saw the gun and everything, but better not to have anything in his hands for the confrontation. A red arrow. Couldn't be Green Arrow, obviously. His equipment would be green. Walking forward a bit and turning around, he scanned his catch again. They were all asleep now, from the anesthetic the bullets had hidden in their depths. They were designed to evaporate the stuff when fired, and release it when they entered the body. Then, behind him, the unmistakable sound of an arrow in the air. With a jolt Clint jumped into action, and if it hadn't been for the fact that he managed to step aside quicker than it seemed possible, there would have been no way to prevent himself from getting an arrow firmly stuck in his behind. Following the first arrow, its mistress ... floated? lightly to the ground- there wasn't really a better way to describe it. she was a blonde, with long hair, a pretty normal-looking costume, and a very serious look on her face. Better yet, she was shorter than he was by a good few inches. He guessed that she was probably about the same height as Natasha, Thinking back to the SHIELD files, a name came to mind, but he wasn't sure if it was right- Speedy? Admittedly the pictures of the new heroes weren't all that good, and so mistaken identity was common. Better not to ask now, anyway, she was threatening him. Never a good situation. "Where do you think you are going. Thought, you could get away with selling Acid in my city?" To play along or to come right out... that was the question. "Well first before this threat goes any further..." Taking off the stocking cap on his head, Clint grabbed the bottom of the prosthetic mask and pulled it off. There went the large nose, the wart on one cheek, the little bit of baby fat in the face, and last but not least the unibrow. "...I think you ought to know that my name isn't really Eugene, and I'm not really an Acid dealer." For a second he let her come to terms with the new face, and then he took off all the mangy clothing, exposing his SHIELD uniform. The silver badge on his chest glinted cheerily, and he straightened up. "Yes, it seems as if I have been selling the real deal, but it's simply a specially designed compound that mimics the psychological effects of Acid. You may not believe me, but it's true." Holding his hands up in the air, he watched her body language carefully. Being an archer himself he knew that all it took was one little muscle release and that arrow would be stuck in you forever. "I'm an undercover agent for the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division- SHIELD- and a part of the Avengers team." No. The computers were always right where they got there information from. she looked at his SHIELD uniform and blinked slightly. What the heck was that fancy suit, and badge? He thinks lying could save him. was all that ran through Mia's head as she shoot a warning shot past his head after before his next speech came. Mia had a second arrow loaded quickly. " You think some lie and Fancy badge can save you?" she said before the undercover part came as Mia sighed and put her arrow back holding her bow in her left hand as her right went on her hip. " wait. What? Strategic homeland maba jumpo? Ah Avengers.. Makes sense that that Red white and blue man that was here not to long ago. What are you doing undercover in this place though... I get that the crime is attractive but we Arrows watch this place." she said watching him as her mouth came to play before she knocked her hood down running her right hand threw her hair now. " Sorry about the arrows. I do not take well to threats in this city lurking about." Mia was still lost on the Shield part. She would have to use Ollies computers to look them up. The badge did look real but if he came on to attack her she knew hand to hand as well and would use her size and weight to her advantage. She wondered who he was though. " What's your name Shield guy. You can call me Speedy." though the last speedy was Roy, he had been off the hero gig for a while now, Mia was given the name when she began and was one of the three. Mia wished Roy was out tonight keeping an eye on her back, but she knew that wouldn't happen. He had a child, and Ollie was gone. She was alone with the city and this newcomer to her city her home. [atrb=border,0,true] "Oh, I'm handsomer now? Thanks." Clint smiled sarcastically, and couldn't stop a wink. Oh god, that was something else that had gotten worse after Natasha and him had confessed feelings for each other; he had become a terrible flirt! Jeez, it was all backwards! "I'm just glad to be out of that latex- it's so uncomfortable!" He had to sleep in it for the past few weeks- during which he had recurring nightmares that it wasn't a prosthetic mask at all, but his own face. Now those were some pretty creepy dreams.  "I'm partially helping the same cause that you fight for here, if I'm not mistaken- clean up the streets and rid them of some of their worst scum. But mostly I'm trying to hunt down the source of the real Acid that has been leaking into New York City- we traced it to here." Nearly every one of SHIELD's 700 some active druggies in the state of New York had lately reported massive amounts of Acid making its way into the hands of dealers in the state. Most had also pointed to the source being Star City. That was the true reason he had been sent here. Thanks to his highly informed information, some of the Acid shops had ben taken down but there were still more to be found around the area.  She stared at him in confusion. That Clint could understand too. Why would he, of all people, be out here masquerading as a bum? It made no sense.  Why not just wait until a real dealer was in the area and apprehend him? Simple answer. Dealers were often harder addicts than the actual buyers, and so most of the time they were too wacked out to say where their supplier was.  A warning arrow shot past his head, sticking fast in the wall behind him, next to the knife. Clint didn't as much as blink. He was used to bullets there by now, and close calls. The day he fought the Chitauri was probably one of the worst times he could think of for that. However, his eyes did harden a little in determination and cautiousness. "It's not a lie, ma'am, I am being completely honest with you. It wasn't my idea to dress up like a dealer and present myself this way." Then, all at once, her guard went down. At first he thought it was something about how official 'Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division' sounded. However then she mentioned Cap, and it made sense. He was the friendliest of all the Avengers, and the greatest one on the team in many ways. No wonder she had met him first. "It took me two years to learn that whole name myself. Man, it's a mouthful." Clint grinned, the momentary stoniness melting away. "It's my job. Again, this wasn't my choice." He could have left it to someone else, but those left one with pickiness points, and that was in no way good. Demolished your reputability foundation. "Arrows? As in Green Arrow?" Clint had not yet had a chance to meet the Arrow; he was a phantom, it seemed, always beyond reach. By this point Clint was itching for a shootout with the other famed feather teaser. Which means archer, by the way. "Oh, no problem. Being an archer myself, it's hard not to just ask you to put it into the wall as deep as you can go." Curiously, Clint reached back to the brick behind him and with a little effort jerked the warning shot out of the wall. For a minute he balanced it in his hands, feeling the weight placement. The head was a little on the heavy side, but that was an advantage. The red shaft was perfectly smooth, reducing friction from the air and allowing a shot to fly farther and faster. It was a lot heavier than the adamantium ones he used now, but that was fine. The cock feather was this nice rich blood red, compared to white on the others. A beautiful arrow, one that Clint would love to have, if it wasn't for the "artificial" set he had now. Handing it back to Mia, he nodded. "Must last you a while, one arrow. How many shots can you use them in?" He looked up at her, a genuine smile plastered on his face. She was pretty, and a bowman to boot. "Name's Hawkeye. " she sighed and ran her free hand threw her hair before she looked at the man once more. If it made its way to new York, who said it could not be in Gotham, is that why Ollie had gone down there? Though she figured he went after Dinah, it could have been both. "If I find out you have been dishonest with me, I will send an Arrow with a boom after you." she said as a threat, Mia would blow him sky high if he is lying to her, but so far he seemed to be telling the truth, or could it be that her medications were messing with her head again. Mia nodded , to the mouthful of the name that he worked for she wanted to call it red white and blue after cap. Her lips moved into a large smile when he asked about green arrow before she laughed a bit. " Well, yes. I am his partner Speedy. As well as the younger female version of him,who tends to be mouthier then him if not worse." she told him before she took her arrow back from his hands and placed it back in the quiver sighing." I use them once, That was a normal arrow.. I have trick ones that tend to only last one shot." her words were true she really did tend to use arrows once, they were simple enough to build back at home. " Though with the Normal arrows, I'd say maybe four or five shots before the tip dulls out but it depends on what you are shooting. Now a brick wall, it wouldn't last more than two, maybe three." she said giving away more before she caught his name and smiled back at him. " Well then, It is a pleasure Hawkeye, I am Speedy. As for my real name you shall not know it, unless you can get it out of me." she smirked lightly as if she was challenging the man. Mia then turned looked down past Hawkeye into the alley, she needed to collect her Bike. " If you do not mind, I need to collect my bike, though If it is acid dealers you are looking for.. I can show you were they tend to gather around here." Oh her days of using and selling her body came back to her, she knew all the hide outs and where they sold. It was one thing she was thankful to know. [/style]

[atrb=border,0,true] Clint's eyebrows went up a bit, at Speedy's quip about his looks. "Thanks, for real this time." He genuinely appreciated it; every time someone gave him a compliment Clint felt his self-confidence rise a little. It felt good because it had bottomed out after the whole Loki shenanigan. "You don't look bad yourself." He meant that too, for sure. She would be a great model, very probably. Her body was petite and slender, though a bit more muscled than the standard Playboy bunny. Her blonde hair had a light golden shimmer that the moonlight loved to play with. This was even more evident when she took off her hood. Then one couldn't tell it if was silver or blonde, and it looked so much the former that one could swear it was a soft gray color. Her lips were thin and tulip red, and the domino mask magnified the curves around her eyes. Doubtless many men had seen her beauty and fallen for her; however Clint would not be one. He already had a love, someone to fight for: Nat. "Same cause? Really. Well next time give us a heads up, or you can end up with three arrows heading towards your behind." "Yeah... Sorry about that." Clint rubbed the back of his head. "I'll make sure to from now on, because sure as heck I will never be posing as something as low-down as a druggie again." Nope. Not for a million dollars. Let SHIELD get someone else to do the dangerous work. Clint didn't mind dirty things: mud, jungle, insects, even a swamp; he did it all without much complaint. Heck, he'd even take a torture situation over anything else. But he'd had enough of being in the down and pollution of drug rings for a while. He wanted to be back in his loft, listening to his landlord do business downstairs with the oldies station playing. At least he was going to go home soon, so that was great. Suddenly the sound of multiple helicopters came into earshot. Just in time: cleanup crew. In moments the chop chop chop was right above, and several SHIELD agents dropped to the ground with wire baskets. They started hauling up men, as another guy came sliding down the rope, with a silver suitcase in hand. "Agent Hawkeye," He said simply and handed Clint the chrome briefcase. Quickly, the bow was unloaded, and the half-body quiver (a standard like Mia's, as well as his leg attachment) that also lay inside was all strapped on. "Thanks." He nodded at the young officer. "Have them send down the Ducati last." The guy nodded, and snagging a line up, was gone in the blackness of the night. "If I find out you have been dishonest with me, I will send an Arrow with a boom after you." Haha, maybe he and Mia were more alike than he had originally thought. He had boom arrows too. Not like he was going to drop a hint that he did, though. He'd see what she had, later. "Think I'm lying to you now?" Clint asked- well okay, half yelled, because the helicopter blades were so loud- jerking his thumb back to where the last few sleeping men were being loaded. "I may not be as easy to believe as the Captain, and I'm not going to lie to you and say that I'm more trustworthy, but I think that we try to tell the truth equally." Taking his eyes off her general area for a second, he glanced up again and searched the skies. Nope. They were still just probably getting everything situated before they dropped the superbike. "Partners?" Clint's eyebrows went up a little more, though he supposed that in some part of his mind, it made sense. This Speedy, she was a good archer, not like some of the half-wits he had seen in his lifetime. She had been taught a lot, by a great teacher. Who other would that be from the other universe, than Green Arrow? "That's cool. I've heard rumors flying around that eventually there's going to be an epic showdown between the heroes from Gotham, Metropolis, and the like, and people like me. from New York, and Washington, DC." It was bound to be a great time of getting to know each other when it did eventually happen. Only heaven knew how much the heroes needed to band together to defeat the waves of villains that now existed. More allies, better chance of success. As he had been thinking to himself before. The bad thing about his arrows was, that though they were great to have and practically indestructable, it wasn't as easy to swap one out as Mia did with hers. Clint had figured before he asked, that it literally took five seconds to make another. So, he wasn't too surprised at her answer. "My normal ones last forever, no matter what you stick them into, but they're so hard to replace." Pulling one out of his quiver, he handed it to her. It had three bright purple lines near the tail, but the rest of it was black and silver. "Be careful of the feathers. They're not actual feathers, just modified razorblades... I've cut myself on them once or twice." Sometimes Clint didn't get why the government had to make things so dangerous. Oh, well. Now that he was used to his set, it wasn't a problem. And now she mentions the bike. Jeez, how closely did parallel universes have to coincide? "Speedy. Nice to meet you. My ride's, um, coming." Just then the whirring of a cable could be heard overhead, and the same Agent from earlier slid to the ground, straddling a Ducati Superbike. Clint couldn't help but smile when he saw it. This was going to be its first real use. It was black, purple, and a dark purplish-blue. The matching helmet hanging from the handlebars shone as for a moment the moonlight hit it. "Erm- there it is." The Agent unhooked the cable, flipped down the kickstand, and with a last nod, disappeared back into the sky.
