Jean Marie Grey
{I'm wide awake. Need nothing to complete myself }
.....................................................................
Full Name: Jean Marie Grey (Summers)
Code Name: Phoenix, Marvel Girl, Redd, Ms. Psyche, Jeannie, Black Queen
Age: 47 Years Old
Date of Birth: August 28, 1965,
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Species: Mutant, Omega
Alliance: X-men, However Jean has been affiliated with many other X-Related groups in the past and even served time with the Hellfire Club.
Citizenship: Marvel
Canon or Original?: Marvel Canon
"Victory is MINE Baldy!
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Auburn, however Jean has changed her hair color in the past while in hiding. Currently it is a darkish red and resting just past her shoulders with small curls on the end that wrap around her shoulders.
Eyes: Jean was born with sharp green eyes but after her death and her many rebirths her DNA had chosen blue eyes for her this time around. They are a deep sea blue.
Height: 5' 9"
Weight: 140 pounds
Distinguishing Marks: Jean has no tattoos and only a simple belly button ring which she keeps covered. She has never admitted to having it and has yet to alert anyone to it's presence. Jean has many small scars across her body from years of abuse (many more from shattering and becoming a Super Nova) but the most prominent scars are the three long winding burn marks across her back caused by Magneto when he sent an electro-magnetic energy pulse to her brain, which induced a "planetary-scale stroke and killed her. She keeps them covered. She also has both ears pierced.
Appearance: Jean Grey is a tall statuesque type of a woman who towers over both student and staff alike. She has long reddish brown hair that sits just past her shoulders and deep sea blue eyes due to a flaw in her rebirth. Having been born with green eyes however sometimes bothers Jean enough to wear contacts. She's 140 pounds and incredibly athletic often opting to train with the students instead of supervising these days. Due to her inability to properly die Jean's body hasn't physically aged in almost 10 years which gives her the ability to lie and say she's in her thirties. Also because of this problem it has yet to be determined as to how long Jean may actually live.
Face Claim: Amanda Tapping
"I’m not interested in making new friends,
I don’t even like the ones I have”
I don’t even like the ones I have”
Likes: Scott Summers, Professor X, Logan, teaching and tea.
Dislikes: Unnecessary violence, politics, The Brotherhood, Magneto and coffee.
Personality: Jean is emotionally strong, practical, and a steadying presence to her team-mates often providing the voice of reason. She also has a passionate side that can appear in battle, which makes her a dangerous opponent and capable of playing the Devil's Advocate when she sees fit. She has been known to make incredible sacrifices for Charles Xavier's cause including her own life, many times over. She believes in Charles Xavier.
However; as the Phoenix, Jean is both cold and calculating, giving little thought or feeling to the consequences of her actions. Over the years and because of the full fusion of Jean and the Phoenix Force she has been able to introduce aspects of her own personality into the force making her more personable. But should she lose control and become Dark Phoenix all bets are off. And as both the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix, Jean has destroyed entire planets and killed countless people both of which have deeply impacted her and left her with an eternal sadness and grief.
She will always be in love with Scott Summers, but still carries simmering feelings for Wolverine.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers: Telepathy: She can manipulate the minds of others and even higher order animals within a vast, potentially limitless radius. Her notable powers include:
Telepathic Defence: She can manifest her telepathy in a number of defensive ways.
Telepathic Cloak: She can mask her presence and the use of her abilities from being detected by other psions and psychic entities. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful psis may notice and 'see' through this ability.
Cloak Mind: Ability to rearrange the “mental engrams” of mutants so their distinctive mutant thought patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devises or by other telepaths.
Psionic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and of others minds.
Telepathic Illusions: She can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
Telepathic Camouflage: She can alter the apparent physical appearance of herself and other people by altering the perceptions of those around her. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). A limit, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people she is trying to fool, not the number of people she is camouflaging.
Telepathic Manipulation: She can manipulate other people's minds easily, achieving a variety of effects.
Mind Control: She can control the thoughts and actions of others.
Mind Possession: She can possess the mind of another, and use that being's body as her own.
Personality Alteration: She can alter the minds of others by force of will, permanently changing their personality partially or entirely.
Mental Paralysis: She can induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
Mental Amnesia: She can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
Mind Transferal: She can transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if her own physical body could be somehow killed.
Induce Pain: Can also induce mental pain merely by touching the brow of her victim.
Heal Trauma: The ability to erase a person’s memories and to heal mental trauma through “psychic surgery,” the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a persons brain.
Mental Sedating: Can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them.
Neural Jumpstart: She can increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, she could increase another mutants powers to incredible levels, but the effect was only temporary.
Dilate Power: Ability to place “psychic inhibitors” in the minds of mutant adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.
Mind Link: Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
Psionic Blasts: She can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and turning someone brain-dead.
Astral Projection: She can project her astral form from her body onto astral planes or the physical planes. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
Mental Detection: She can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of himself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
Psionic Firebird: She can manifest her telepathy as a psionic firebird; whose claws could inflict both physical and mental damage.
Telekinesis': telekinetic abilities enable her to levitate herself or other objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, and generate concussive force or protective shields.
It was later revealed that Phoenix had a secondary mutation. This mutation makes her the physical embodiment of the Phoenix Force; she and the Phoenix itself has stated that they are in fact one and the same being. The Phoenix powers are infinite. She is able to manipulate matter and energy on a sub-atomic scale, although there is substantial variation in the amount of power she has access to at any point based on her current health, mental blocks (natural or constructed - by herself or others), and sometimes for other more esoteric reasons.
AND SO MANY MORE. GOSH. In short: Jean Grey is the cheapest character power wise in the entire Marvel universe.
Weapons Jean, while generally against the use of guns does own a Colt Commander.
Strengths/Abilities: Her mental strength as Jean Grey is incredibly strong and happy. But her moods can change like the tide. Before the Force she almost never spoke ill of another person and was generally liked by all.
Jean's ability to speak to others, she is careful in choosing her words and tries her hardest to appease everyone. Her perfection is both one of her greatest strengths and weaknesses.
Weaknesses: Jean has an immensely difficult time concentrating because of her telepathic abilities. Sometimes she cannot shut the voices off. Her mind is like a mini Cerebro. She goes for weekly sessions with the Professor to help alleviate the pain.
She cares too much about those she considers family, which often make them a target to be used against her.
Jean is also too trusting which has hurt her many times over her lifetime. She's been unlucky in love a few times despite being her ability to trust Scott and vise versa which was what drew them together in the first place.

the sanest man alive to lunacy,"

History: Jean Grey was born and raised in Annadale-on-Hudson. Her parents were John and Elaine Grey and she was one of two daughters (the other being Sara Grey). Jean Grey was a normal child until the death of her best friend Annie Richards when she was 7. While playing with Jean Annie was hit by a car and as her friend lay dying in her arms, Jeans latent telepathic powers awoke. She felt Annie dying and slowly slipping away from her. The accident left Jean deeply depressed, so her parents decided to seek advice from a friend of Jean's psychiatrist, Charles Xavier. With his help Charles suppressed Jean’s growing telepathic powers and decided to focus on developing her budding telekinetic abilities.
Jean left her parents at the age of 11 to join the X-men under the alias Marvel Girl where she was trained with four other Mutants, Hank McCoy, Warren Worthington III, Bobby Drake and Scott Summers. Throughout her teenage years she worked closely with Scott, who's own ability left him un-trusting of the world. Their close bond blossomed into love years later. They eventually got married and went onto leading the X-men together.
While on vacation Jean and other members of the team were kidnapped by Steven Lang, who was plotting to unleash a new generation of Sentinels. Upon rescue the X-men destroy the station but find that their shuttle has been damaged in an earlier fight with the Sentinels. The X-Men decide that someone must stay at the controls and pilot the ship, while everyone else remains in the shuttle's heavily-shielded life cell. Knowing no one else could survive long enough to pilot the shuttle to safety, Jean uses her abilities to pilot the shuttle. But the strain of holding the solar radiation at bay destroyed the psychic shields Xavier placed in her mind as a child, and Jean loses control. The shuttle crashes into a bay, and Jean telekinetically reforms her body and emerges from the water. Taking the code name of Phoenix, Jean's psi-powers are now vastly stronger, and she manifests a fiery bird-shaped energy aura whenever she uses her powers to their fullest extent.
In "The Dark Phoenix Saga", the mutant Jason Wyngarde tampers with Jean's mind, convincing her she's a Victorian aristocrat (and the Black Queen of the Hellfire Club) and that he is her husband. She turns on her friends, but then loses control of her powers and becomes the Dark Phoenix, attacking her friends and teammates and destroying a populated solar system's star. Jean regains her sanity long enough to commit suicide rather than risk becoming the Dark Phoenix again and killing anyone else.
After killing herself on the moon, Jean's soul awakens in the afterlife and is dressed in a White Phoenix costume. Death, itself, greets Jean and tries to help her understand the Phoenix before fragments of her soul are sent back to Earth.

From a 2008 MySpace roleplay as Rachel Summers. I doubt the length will ever be this long but anywhere from a quarter to a half is my usual.
Fire. Somewhere something was burning, people were screaming and running. She was standing above someone, someone she'd knocked to the floor. There wasn't a face on the figure, and she didn't know who it was. Nothing was familiar, the hall was burning down. Beams were crumbling and falling to the ground and Rachel had her hand raised above her, a large fire brewing around it. She was dressed in black cashmere and jeans, her eyes burning with hatred. The astral figure of herself wouldn't have recogznied her if she hadn't known, known exactly why this dream reaccured and what was going to happen; Rachel Summers was about to strike down her foe when a strong arm shot out from behind her and wrestled her to the floor.
He held her face to the floor, lying a top of her trying to keep her from struggling, shouting at her through the ordeal. Franklin was angry, and worried. When she lost control, it was things like this that happened. She'd decided that they'd separate, track down the group on their own and then call for backup when things got rough. Rachel hadn't called. The kid she was about to fry had buggered off, using the distraction that Frankie had provided unintentionally. The building was going to drop on them, she shouldn't have done this. Standing up Franklin hauled Rachel over his shoulder and burst through the weakened wall, the supports above them collapsing right after.
The kid hadn't made it, he'd seen the burned body further down the strip of bare land. Franklin had dropped Rachel after tripping to the ground, she hadn't cared and just rolled away from him angrily. When he moved towards her to reach out and touch her his hand began to burn and Frankie yanked it back from her. Rachel herself had started burning and after lolling her head to the side to glare at him had pushed up from the ground and began to stomp away from him. He chose the wise move and stayed where he was, bracing himself up on his arms and glancing around in puzzlement.
This wasn't where they had been before the fire, there'd been a bar and strip malls near the hall. The dirty part of Westchester, the ruins of what it used to be. There'd been a school there once, Xaviers. Rach had gone there, her parents ran the place for awhile. Getting up off the ground he pulled his still burning leather jacket off his shoulders and dropped it to the ground, The sound of running water from behind him made him snap around.
A waterfall. There weren't anymore of those left in Westchester, not even the country part - Rachel had heard it too, and rubbing her arms she'd glanced up from the rock she'd occupied and furrowed her brows. Large steel gates, an old English building covered in vines and greenery. Xaviers. It was almost impossible, the place had been demolished ages ago. The government hadn't wanted any encouragement of young mutants against the new government and their ideas. Suddenly feeling faint Rachel pulled her top off, revealing a black lace strap top. She ran her fingers through her long red hair and scratched at her arm.
Covering her face in her hands she sat down on the cold grassy ground, the heat from the fire no longer warming her back. Turning to face behind her she found the hall gone, no fire. No scorched grass, gatherings of humans and no mutants in sight. They'd talked about this, her and her mum, the Professor. Scott. It could happen, "What has happened before will happen again." Rachel whispered quitely, her mothers warning.
Crying gently she leaned her head back and brushed away the few fallen tears with the back of her hand, Rachel had killed someone. One of her own kind in revenge, oh how Jean had told her about that. How seducting it was and how was your mind was set on it everything else was blinded. She'd done something horribly wrong, Rachel changed her timestream. Everything was familiar but, it wasn't. She didn't feel right, Frankie didn't look right. How had she missed that? He wasn't Frankie Richards anymore, he was the younger and more quiet Franklin Richards.
Ivy League Boy, perfect son. Glancing down at her hands before gliding them across her face Rachel hadn't been suprised to find the same changes, her ears weren't even peirced anymore. Pulling up the bottom of her top she found her brand wasn't there. Rachel Summers was young again, and for some reason - she hated it.
Grabbing her sweater off of the cold ground she swung it over her shoulder and jogged into the woods, knowing exactly where the clearing would lead her if she went far enough. Back into Salem Center and then.. wherever she wanted to go. Had to fix the time stream, but not now. Picking up her speed into a full blown run the unorganized thoughts continued to run rampant through her mind. Things to do, who to see? What time was this, Was Jean still alive? What of Senator Kelly?
When she came into the city about twenty minutes later she was a little tired from the run, and had run into a back alley with a chain length fence at the end of it. If she ran with enough speed, she could hop it. Worth a try. Rachel shot at it and reached for the top of the fence, grabbing the bar and swinging over the end. Nearly impaling herself on the wire, but walking away with just the hand wounds. Had to clean those up before going off to the school, Have to see who's still standing.
The loud pumping rock music coming from a bar across the street sparked her attention, grinning slightly at the thought of her first time there brought back some good memories. She'd just turned 21, bar hopping with Ant, Kitty and Rogue. It had been a story for the books that was for sure, but this bar didn't exist in her time anymore, the Victrola was just an abandoned building now where the whores and gangs worked out of.
Rubbing her bleeding palms onto her jeans Rach walked quietly over to the door and opened it, the strobe lights dancing around the room and blinding her slightly. She'd stay here, just for a bit. Then pass on through, just like Logan used to do.
