Personality: Sportsmaster is prideful and harsh, and is not at all afraid to speak his mind. His somewhat aggressive nature gives him an aura of intimidation and demands respect from those around him. Despite his pride, Sportsmaster will compliment someone if they exceed his expectations. He always keeps a cool head in battle, even in tthe direst of situations. This emotionless facade can disappear when in combat with an opponent whose skill rivals his own. However, his calm demeanor will not change; instead, it will be coupled with a newly wrought desire to prove his superiority.
Almost always, Sportsmaster has a hidden agenda that he doesn't share with his allies. This is often a result of his ambition and desire for power. Sportsmaster also always looks for ways to uphold his reputation among the criminals, whether it be by means of violence or manipulation. Sportsmaster does not tolerate failure, and he despises the weak and helpless. He also prides himself on efficiency; he will always look for the quickest and most effective way to finish a job. He is not afraid to shed blood, and instead relishes the prospect of doing so.

History: Lawrence Crock was a child who was gifted in sports and athletic activities from a very young age. He practiced martial arts and running to keep his body in prime condition. His natural aptitude for several sports earned him glory and fame. He became a professional athlete, playing competitive sports such as basketball, soccer, and football. He was also a professional martial artist. However, one day, his career came to an end abruptly. He had permanently crippled another young football player, so he was banned from professional sports forever.
Lawrence then decided to use his martial arts skill and athletic prowess for criminal purposes. He took on the identity of Sportsmaster, a feared assassin and contract killer. He started out small, but gained more power and respect as his career flourished. He affiliated himself with several dangerous organizations, such as the League of Shadows. His efficiency and calmness made him a valuable assassin, and he became very expensive to hire.
One day, Sportsmaster met the Huntress, a fellow villain. They fell in love, and took on many missions together. They had two children together: Cheshire and Artemis. Then, the Huntress had a change of heart. She did not want to aid Lawrence in his crimes any longer. She tried her best to protect the children from him, to no avail. Sportsmaster abused his children, Cheshire especially. He constantly pitted them against one another and forced them to fight. Cheshire left him, and he was left with only Artemis. He trained her extensively in martial arts and archery to turn her into the perfect assassin. However, it was not to be; she also left him and became a hero.
Sportsmaster is suspicious of the new heroes and villains, but he doesn't see them as obstacles to his goals. Rather, he sees them as speed bumps. His thirst for power is still unquenched, and his lofty ambitions are ever-present.

Batman was on patrol duty, his watchful gaze sweeping over the streets of Gotham. It was a rather chilly night, and the very sky cast a blanket of shadow over the streets. Batman was unseen by the occasional pedestrian or police officer that roamed the otherwise empty streets. Like an angel of death, he moved silently and quickly through the night air, his cape billowing behind him.
As the Dark Knight approached Monolith Square, his attention fell upon the body of a young woman, who had been gored to death. She lay in a pool of blood, her face as pale as snow. Batman knelt down beside her, scanning his surroundings for any hostiles. He then checked her pulse to make sure that she was dead.
The Caped Crusader looked around for material evidence. The woman's body had been clawed, by a creature unknown to Bruce. As he was in deep thought, a powerful arm grabbed him and hurled him forcefully. He landed on his back and started to get to his feet, the initial pain already wearing off.
Batman looked up to see a monster approaching him with lumbering, deliberate steps. It was bulky and strong, around 8 feet tall. It had a piglike snout and bloodshot eyes. Its torso and legs were covered in green slime, and blood coated its arms. It had two curved horns on its head. It charged at Batman, and the hero dived to the side to avoid the incoming attack.
The demon crashed into a building, breaking through the brick wall as if it was made of butter. Batman backed away, two batarangs in hand. When the demon turned, he hurled the batarangs at its face. They exploded upon impact, sending the demon staggering backwards and falling. However, it got up again and scowled at him. That's when a purple portal opened up, and more monsters poured out. They ranged from dark creatures with fangs, wings and red eyes, to bulky juggernauts like the one he was fighting.
Batman tapped his earpiece. "Doctor Fate. I am in Monolith Square, engaged in combat with multiple monsters seemingly mystical in origin. I require your assistance immediately." Batman then braced himself for the battle.
"I'm through talking, get out of my cave,"
