Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

It had been late when Zara had left work. As she walked down the street Zara wasn't entirely sure that she wanted to head home just yet. She had spent all day in a quiet lab and she would go back to a quiet apartment. Right now the streets were pretty silent, not as busy as they were during the day. Zara wanted some noise. Some company. She changed her route from home and moved down a few streets towards a bar.
It had been some time since she had gone drinking. Zara moved down the street before pushing the door open to a bar. The sound of music filled her ears instantly as well as the chatter of the many people around her. A smile came to her face. Noise sometimes made her aware that she was still alive and not just drifting away in her own bubble.
She made her way up to the bar area and sat herself on a stool. Her fingers gripped to the slim drinks menu and her eyes scanned across it. Not being much of a drinker, things such as fancy exotic cocktails were wasted on her so when the bar tender asked what she wanted Zara put the menu back down and replied, "Red wine please."

Ateyo had found himself suffering from a case of boredom that night, having been unable to find anything to do. Even going out to help stop some crime wasn't on his mind tonight since he hadn't been up to the task, least not on this day. But there were always other heroes who saved the say lately, despite the sudden rise in crime. Again he shrugged it off for now and decided to go out for the night while the night was young.
Leaving his apartment Ateyo took some time to walk around the streets for a while, thinking of what could pass the time. Of course in New York there were quite a few things to do so just choosing the right one was always a pain. Eventually though Ateyo made his way to the bars, coming to the first one he could find that already was packed with people and the music blaring. Though it was to be expected, even from a few feet away he could already hear it plain as day.
Smiling slightly as he came inside, his eyes scanned the crowd that was chattering or dancing, whichever struck their fancy. Making his way across the bar to the counter he sat on a stool a few chairs away from Zara, ordering some beer when the bartender had turned to him.

Zara had was looking around at the people in the bar. People talking and dancing and drinking. If there was one thing she didn't do it was dance. It was a brilliant way to embarrass yourself and she didn't quite see the point in it. When she turned back around to the bar a different bar tender had placed a beer in front of her before walking off. Her eyes followed him to where he placed the wine in front of a guy a few seats away.
Zara looked at him and hopped off her stool. She took the beer with her and said, "This is probably yours. I guess they're pretty busy tonight." Zara placed the beer on the table for him. She took a seat next to him and took the glass of wine. "I'm Zara." she said introducing herself briefly. She wasn't planning on staying for long but a little bit of company whilst she finished her drink was welcomed.

Ateyo's attention had been fixed on the dancers, just watching them while he waited for his drink that he had ordered. But there was very little interest in actually joining into the dancing, he would much rather stick around at the table to just keep to himself or chat with someone if they were to approach. For the most part he was only there to have a drink or two, maybe three if he felt like it and would likely be off on his way again.
But when the bartender brought him red wine he couldn't help raising an eye brow and it seemed he wouldn't have to correct them this time. "Seems pretty packed tonight but wouldn't be the first mistake, though nice to meet you Zara,"Ateyo said with a kind, greeting smile as he took a sip of his beer before adding,"The names Ateyo."He said as he extended a hand to shake if she wanted. But a switch in drinks wasn't unheard of and it seemed the mistake had given him the chance to speak with someone after all.
Luckily for him however he wasn't close to having to worry about seeing her as his 'next meal'. This time he could actually maybe have a conversation with someone instead of worrying of keeping himself in check.

Zara looked at his hand before reaching out and shaking it. "Nice to meet you Ateyo. It's been a while since I was here." The last time she had been in the bar had been a few months ago now. And that time the bar tenders had been pretty much on the ball.
Zara picked up her glass and took a sip. The taste of alcohol was still weird to her. It would never be as good as coffee. "Been a long day?" Zara asked him. It wasn't often, so she believed, that people came out to drink alone. After all the bar itself was evidence of that. The majority of people there seemed to have come in packs of people. It seemed to be socially unacceptable to do things on your own.

"Don't come here too often myself,"Ateyo said with a nod as he let his hand rest on the table again and drank his beer while they sat there. Though he gave a slight shrug of his shoulders at her question,"You could say that."He said, knowing it must have been quite odd to come alone compared to groups that were a common thing in clubs. But Ateyo had preferred to be alone much of the time, especially when most of those he was around were human beings.
It wasn't that he hated company nor having conversation,it was more of being cautious around others. Sometimes there were times he couldn't control his blood lust and often lost his cognitive thinking to primitive predatory instincts."How about you? Rough day?"He asked her while glancing back at Zara after taking another swig of his drink. Though he was just trying to strike up a conversation with Zara for the most part, even if it proved to be merely brief.

When he asked her in return, Zara found herself nodding. She took a sip from her glass and let it pass down her throat. ”Ever get the feeling that you may have bitten off more than you can chew?” Zara asked him. That was how she had been feeling today. Sure she loved her work and it kept her busy. it challenged her on a level that she had not been challenged on simply sure to the people she worked with and tested on. But it left little time for her side projects. And unwilling to sacrifice those, Zara had taken to upping her dose of coffee and abandoning sleep. Probably not the best way to go about things but oh well. No one would tell her otherwise.
She swilled the drink around her glass slightly before putting it down on the bar and pushing it away slightly. Zara doubted she would ever be a true drinker, something about it just turned her stomach. With a sheepish laugh she told Ateyo, ”I’m a lightweight.” Zara had watched people pack away alcohol like nobody’s business and honestly she did not envy them. ”Do you live around here then?” Zara asked him. After meeting Natas she had been curious as to where people hailed from and whether they were just passing through.

"Had the feeling more times then I care to remember,"Ateyo said with a nod, though he wasn't about to elaborate on that subject. There were many point in his life that he probably had gone too far and had paid for it, mostly it lied in trying to conceal what he truly was and in the past it hadn't gone well. It was just pure luck that here in New York it was quite easy to hide just about anything and anyone. Least that was the case for many people unless they were willing to come out with it.
Watching Zara push her drink away he merely chuckled slightly and shrugged,"Nothing wrong with being a light weight Zara."He said to her as he finished his beer and set it down on the bar counter though he didn't plan to get another at the moment. "And actually yes I do, just a few blocks down in one of the apartment complexes. Though I'm still kind of new here, came from London originally and been traveling for quite a while."Well it was more like several years, probably far longer then Zara had been around.
