Another day at work. She finished her lecture the high school and the bell rang, another hour, maybe half, and she would be able to be home, within her own network of computers looking over all of her files and falling in love all over again with her work. It wasn’t everything she wanted it to be, how could it? She was still trapped in a sea of hurt, something that not many would understand.
Babs shoved several books into her bag when she heard someone talking behind her. “Excuse me… You must be new here.” She turned at the new voice and smiled at him with a single nod. “That I am… Can I help you with anything?” She was about to ask more when her phone beeped. Something was going on in the city. Babs could only frown, this one was at least cute. “I was wondering if you would like to go out on a date sometime?” She normally would have said no, but how long had it been since she went out? A year, two, she didn’t remember. Her last real date had been with Dick. Slowly she pulled out a card and wrote her number on the back. “Give me a call and we can work something out I’m sure..” She smiled once again at him then rolled away.
The trip to her tower seemed to take longer than normal, but at last there she was there, sitting down and looking at her screens. There were several things coming up as strange, one however was a murder. She pulled that one up first and began looking over everything she could. A business man, late thirties, just signed a deal with a company over seas. There was something else she couldn’t put her finger on it. She still had several hours before she could send someone to go look at the scene, but for the moment…
Babs looked though her contacts, most of them were already fighting, on a mission, tracking someone. She groaned, and finally broke down and called Nightwing.
