Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Late, how long? She wasn’t exactly sure, she was suppose to meet him here a hour ago, but she had been early. Pepper had been out of town for the last three weeks buying property along Gotham City, why? She wasn’t really sure, she thought the property was over priced, that the value wasn’t going to be getting better any time soon. However, two years ago Tony told her to buy it, and store it, so, she had, everything was slowly calming down in that regard.
Her small hand reached up and touched her hair softly, making sure everything was still in its place her black dress still hung just right over her frame. God, why was she even worried about when he was coming? Did it really matter that they were coming close to their one year anniversary? She went to chew on her lower lip but stopped, no, she wasn’t going to let it get to her, not yet.
The secretary pulled out her cell phone and checked in with JARVIS, sending him a small text message. ‘Location, Tony Stark.’ She waited, the AI could track his phone, well any phone that belonged to Stark Industries that is. It was almost a little unnerving the amount of information that was at her disposal, how much they had actually gathered over the years, and how the advancement of… DING! Pepper looked down at her phone and read the incoming message. ‘Unable to Process Request.’. That was the first time she smiled all night, almost giggled.
It could only mean that Tony was either in the building, or still on his way, at least she hoped as much. “May I get you something?” The waiter had returned. “Yes, a bottle of white wine please.” She glanced over their wine list and chose one of her favorite bottles

Tony Stark wasn't out fighting evil, saving the world, or even in a meeting with the Avengers. He wasn't working on some ultra-secret weapon or modification to his Iron Man suit. He wasn't even watching television or playing Pong.
He was sleeping.
Head on top of the table in his laboratory at Stark Tower, papers askew everywhere, pen still in hand from staying up drawing schematics for more than twenty-four hours straight, Stark was fast asleep. Snoring, even.
Jarvis had tried to wake him three times already. The A.I. had been set to remind him of all of his appointments- two of which Tony'd missed already and the third, well, Jarvis was very fond of Ms. Potts, if an A.I. could feel fondness, and he wasn't about to let Stark ruin his date with the nice strawberry blonde.
It took three verbal tries and finally a swift whack to the back of the head by a robotic arm for Tony to finally wake from his deep sleep. He bolted straight up, eyes bleary, with a blueprint stuck to his face. He knocked it off, yawned and stretched, and winced at the pain in his chest from sleeping on top of his chest plate.
"Sir, Ms. Potts has attempted to call you twice now and sent you a text message."
"Bwaaa.... Pepper?" Tony rubbed his eyes and ran his hand through his hair. He paused. "Jarvis. What time is it?"
"Seven past six o'clock in the evening, Mr. Stark."
"Shit." Tony scrambled out of his seat, knocking more papers onto the floor and nearly tipping over the helpful robotic arm that had woken him up. He ran up the stairs to his bedroom where he tried to get ready as quickly as possible. "Jarvis, get the Mach VII Suit ready!" Tony shouted to the A.I. as he scrambled into his regular suit, the one that Pepper had specifically picked out for him, and styled his hair. He didn't have time to really look over the suit or do much else than spray some cologne before he raced out the door, and onto the balcony, where the latest version of his suit was waiting for him.
The metallic red and gold armor attached itself to his arms and legs, moving in and up his body until his arc reactor shown through it and the helmet clamped down. With a thank you to his computerized butler, Tony rocketed off of the balcony and into the sky.
It was then that he realized he'd forgotten where they were supposed to meet.
"The Iron Man Steakhouse, Sir," Jarvis replied in his helmet with a sigh and if he'd had eyes, Tony swore he would have rolled them.
"How could I forget?" Tony smirked and shot through the night sky, ripping through the clouds and wind to get to the restaurant. He was already twenty minutes late.
By the time he landed and de-heroed himself, he was already half an hour late. Carrying a red and gold portfolio under his arm, he made his way through the restaurant, cutting in front of the people that had been waiting in line, hurrying past waiters and dodging swinging food trays, until he found the booth Pepper was sitting at.
With a shameless grin, Tony straightened his bowtie and leaned against the booth, one hand on the back of the seat and the other behind his back. "Is this the wine you ordered, Ma'am?" He asked, pulling the bottle that he had snatched from their server's tray out from behind him and popping the cork. He poured a little in her glass and then his own before setting it down.

The suit, she just loved the way it looked on him. It wasn’t that he didn’t have other suits, or that he couldn’t pick out his own clothing. Well, perhaps there was a little of that last part in there, but, this suit meant something to her. She couldn’t quite explain what it was, but the suit itself was something special to see on Tony. The IronMan Steakhouse, yes, there were hundreds of things just like this popping up all over the city. Action figures, Halloween costumes, coloring books, she had even seen the Ironman brand body wash. It was shaped like the mask, and you unscrewed the top and just poured the pink liquid out. Pepper had bought some and hidden it in Tony’s shower as a joke. Only time would tell when he would actually notice it was in there. At first, she didn’t realize who was talking, she just absentmindedly nodded at the person speaking with her, whom she assumed was the waiter. She had just simply been lost in thought. Where would her mind have gone? Anywhere that wasn’t waiting for Tony. She thought about her birthday, actually making plans, but this year, making them with her boss. She wondered what going on a trip with the playboy, what that might look like. That thought caused a cringe. Their relationship was still new, though nothing really had changed between them. Other than she was worried sick about him all the time, that she on one more occasions felt as though she was going to lose the love of her life. The love of her life? Where had that come from? Most likely that romance novel her friend convinced her to read. Her eyes moved up to the man next to her to see that it was Tony. She tried her best to push back a grin as he opened the bottle of wine, and he even poured it. The wine was red, the kind she normally would order, but she found it funny. He must have snatched it up on his way to their table. “Why, Mr. Stark it is so nice of you to join me.” She always called him Mr. Stark when she was teasing him, or when she was trying to distance herself from what she was feeling at that moment. “I rescheduled your interview to tomorrow at noon, and your meeting with one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to next week sometime. With your track record today I thought you might be out saving the world, or sleeping in.” She started out serious, always the worker this one, but towards the end she started to tease him once more. For their date Pepper had bought a new dress for Tony to see. It was black, strapless, and the length ended just above her knees. The dress was simple, and in many ways just how Pepper liked it. Her small hands picked up her phone and slid it into her purse, she wasn’t going to let anything distract her, at least not while she had his full attention.

I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]
"Saving the world, of course," Tony quipped as he sat down across from her, smiling and taking a sip of his wine. "Always in need of saving, you know."
The dress that she was wearing wasn't lost on Tony. He had been eyeing it since he sat down and now he finally decided to make a comment on it, "That is a very nice dress. Black suits you well." His eyebrows raised and he motioned toward her with his glass before taking another sip. "You know what I bet you'd look great in? One of those leather catsuits and high heels. Gloves. Whip. The whole nine-yards." He winked at her. He was just teasing, even if there was some honesty to what he said. Tony's teasing rarely stopped, even with Pepper, but she didn't seem to mind.
Tony wasn't sure if she could ever see past the teasing, past the sarcasm, to why he really did act that way. He was so careful at burying himself beneath his personality, at building up walled defenses a hundred feet thick, that his true colors rarely showed through. He wondered if Pepper could see them, his true colors. Half of his mind was scared at the thought, honestly afraid of what would happen, what she'd think of him, who he really was. The other half was relieved. It begged for the freedom that confiding in another person offered.
He looked away then, forcing his mind to stay away from that subject. That was something to discuss at another time. Now, it was time to order their food. The waiter was standing with pen and paper ready.
"Yeah, uh, I'll have the T-bone, medium. Don't make it bleed. Baked potato, everything on it. Actually- extra bacon too. I feel like meat today. And, uhhh... I guess, broccoli. 'Cause it's healthy or something, I dunno." He shrugged and pushed the menu toward the edge of the table for the waiter. "And the lovely lady with me will have... salmon, right? Salmon?" He looked at her to confirm it. He always had a hard time remembering things about other people, but he knew there was a connection between Pepper and salmon. Or... maybe it was that he liked salmon with pepper on it.
Shit.

Pepper couldn’t help but smile at him. Whips and leather huh? She just looked at him from over her menu, she didn’t bother to respond. Her hands instead turned the page of the menu that she raised to cover her mouth to hide her smile. He was always the tease, she just accepted it as a part of him. Even though she didn’t know what Tony thought about, she knew there was something deeper in the man, something she had only see once, maybe a handful of times while she worked with him. A hidden part of him, that part, was what caused her to stay so long with him. Now that they were dating, she hoped that more of him would surface. “This dress should look nice, you bought..” She smiled though it was a playful one. She actually hadn’t used his money for this dress, but she had in the past, after all she had to get herself something for her birthdays and anniversaries.
Her eyes raised when the waiter arrived. She was about to open her mouth when Tony began to speak, though she had to raise her brow at him when he chose a vegetable, normally she would have to tease him, or order it for him. Which is when it came to her order she was caught so off guard. She stammered for a moment then just nodded with a smile. Adding a “With salad, French dressing….” She didn’t bother changing the sides as she normally would have, not that it made much of a difference at this point. No, for now she was focused on Tony, was it possibly the billionaire actually remembered something, or was he just guessing.
The woman opened her mouth but stopped to sip her wine, enjoying the smell and flavor before she set it back down against the table. “Is it possible that Tony Stark actually remembered something, or is Jarvis speaking in your ear again?” She moved a little to see if he was indeed wearing an ear piece for the AI to inform Tony of things that he might have forgotten.

"You caught me," Tony quipped back before taking a sip of his wine. He didn't actually have the earpiece in. If Jarvis needed to contact him, he could patch through to Tony's phone. But he turned his head slightly so Pepper couldn't tell he didn't have it in. He didn't know why. What was so bad about being earnest? Whatever the reason, Tony just winked at her instead, choosing to ignore the issue for now. Matters of the heart were not his forte.
"Why, did I manage to get it right? Good thing you ordered the sides, though. I might have gotten you strawberries." He grinned at her. After that whole ordeal in his- ...in her office, he'd be damned if he forgot she was allergic to strawberries again.
"So, Ms. Potts, how goes the CEO life? Still kickin' your booty or you got it under control now? It fits you. The whole business owner thing. Much better than me." He wrinkled his nose and shook his head a little to accentuate what he'd said.
He took his wine glass in his hand and swirled the red liquid a little under his nose before taking another sip. "Any handsome young executives catch your eye yet?"

Pepper just rolled her eyes at him. Of course he would have ordered her strawberries, though she wasn’t sure if it would have been because he had forgotten or because he simply would have done it to get a rise out of her. She had to ponder many of those thing these days, though for the most part she wasn’t sure what she was going to do. Her eyes glanced at her own wine and she took a sip slowly before she spoke. “I have to admit, being a CEO is a lot easier than you made it look Tony. We are having less issues with mathematical mistakes, and some how our stripper budget was cut by nearly 99%.” She gave him a playful look at her own comment then set her glass down.
It was harder with him, she had noticed that a long time ago. Loving him was like loving a small child. They said things sometimes to get a rise out of you, and other times they would hide the truth behind jokes and smiles. However, she had noticed that Tony hid everything. The good with the bad, and the bad with the good. It took her years to figure out how to read between his lines. She never got the real grins, or the hidden laughs that sometimes should have been there, however it showed in his eyes. She might never see the single tear fall behind his mask of jokes, but she could see the pain in his eyes.
Everything lived within his eyes and she accepted that as a part of being with Tony. You have to learn to read his eyes, listen to his voice and everything else was just wrapping paper. Though she did tease him in return. Tony never truly saw her in a weak state, she never allowed that to happen. He boxed everything inside and so did she, it was a relationship based on being a part to be together. She didn’t know how long something like that could last, however she was willing to try.
“Well now that you mention it…” She playfully ran her finger around the edge of her wine glass. “We did hire a new employee today, he was rather handsome, you should take a look Tony.” She teased as she reached over the table and gently ran her fingers over his hand for a second. “I believe he’s in love with ironman and the things that he can do. He seems to be obsessed with the idea of out doing you Tony.” After he tease was finished she sipped her wine again watching him. If he knew her as well as she knew him he would see the mischievous look in her eyes.

"Really, the stripper budget was cut by that much? Huh. I thought it would have doubled by now." He was grinning at her, hoping to see a blush on her face, but to his disappointment his quip either hadn't worked or she'd expected it, because there was no cherry color across her cheeks. Any more than usual, anyway.
And that was one thing Tony had always paid attention to when it came to women- their looks. But Pepper had always been set apart in his mind, in a different part of him, as if she was special.
And she was. If there was one person that Tony could admit was special to him, it was Pepper Potts.
So it caught him a little off-guard when she answered in the affirmative to his question, although he did not show it. He glanced down at her fingers that were gently gliding over his hand before looking back up and catching the mischievous look in her eye. It brought a grin to his face again.
Eyebrows raised, in mock seriousness, Tony lifted his glass to his mouth again, speaking before taking a sip, "I'm flattered. Really, I am. Mimicry is the best form of... well, actually, mimicry is creepy and annoying. But I'm still flattered."
He put his glass back down and folded his hands on the table, the same kind of teasing mischief that was in her eyes sparking in his own. "I think you should go for it. I mean, if he's got the looks and the personality and, well, he's obsessed with me, he can't be that bad a guy, can he?" He tapped his fingers on the table top, "You should... you know, get to be happy."
That was rather honest of him rather than the teasing he had been doing, and when he realized he'd said it, Tony cleared his throat, slapped his hands on the table, slid them back to himself, and leaned back in his seat, shrugging; a series of movements that he'd learned to do to distract the person from whatever embarrassing thing he'd just said.
He grabbed a dessert menu and began flipping through it, haphazardly, not even looking at it but just giving his hands something to do. "Anyway, the CEO thing. It's going well, I think."
