Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

I never knew daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - She longed to touch her, but held back. “I never intended for my stories, the games to be of any falsity to you. I cannot apologize for all of Asgard nor my husband’s folly—no child should be faulted their birth—but I can apologize that my kindness became its own heartlessness. I never intended to scorn you so. You are a regal queen, but you do not deserve the forlorn and solitude you were given.” There was so much more she wanted to say, more she wanted to do, but she knew the situation. Loki’s words told her that much as they followed as if on wings after Hela’s. The other feeling that divided her was her loyalty to the throne, as All-Mother as Mother to all the Asgardians. This land was hers to protect as much as it was Thor’s or Odin’s, and it was such a thought that made her blue eyes dark in sorrow and her smile more grim. Yet she held herself high as Queen. She stepped back, her hand taking Thor’s arm. “Thor, leave. To the vault where the Tesseract is housed. I need you to protect it.” She raised her gaze to Hela and then to Loki in turn. “You may remove your father from his bondage, my dear, but I cannot allow the cube to be taken.” She took a breath. “As Queen of Asgard, All-Mother I cannot allow anyone, even were it Thor to place these realms in jeopardy with power such as the Tesseract contains. I love you Loki, my darling Hela, but I was bound as guardian of the Nine Realms, weaver of the future when I was married to the throne to bring peace between the Vanir and Aesir. How I wish my duties were not so.”She stepped back from the cage and her gaze was hard and grim, determined and yet there was a defeat about the lines that marred her of motherhood and trials. She shut her eyes and when she opened them again, they were pleading “Please do not stain these halls and gilded streets with the crimson of anymore blood. Has not violence been done already? It takes great power to not fight, the ease is in drawing your sword in heat.”[/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - you can't choose what stays and what fades away loki, thor, hela WORDCOUNT539 SONGno light, no light by florence + the machine CREDITerin aka lowearthorbit @ caution

So you would take the world I love as recompense for your imagined slights - - The God of Thunder[style=margin-top: -10px; margin-right: -10px; border: #fff 1px dashed; padding: 5px; overflow: auto; width: 360px; height: 200px; font-family: trebuchet ms; font-size: 9px; line-height: 15px; background-color: #0F0F0F; color:#8E8A8E;filter: alpha(opacity=50); -moz-opacity: .50; opacity:.50;]
Hela's voice entered the room, one that Thor had not heard from in countless years. It had taken him by surprise. The last time he had seen his niece, she was but a tiny thing before she had been exiled to Hel. Her tone was accusatory, hurt, angry even- and rightly so. Thor himself had a taste of banishment, that crawling, isolated feeling, but it had been brief. Hela had practically been denied life. Denied hopes and dreams, a childhood, love. If he could just but right their worlds with his own strength and hands he would, but in this he was powerless to change any of it. Thor could only mold the present and try to create the best future for them all, and now, that future was being threatened.
His words had been twisted, of this he was not surprised. How easy it was to weave words, bend their meaning to another's will. He could explain, but it would be futile. He knew it would, but it was always in him to try. "You are my blood... both of you..." Thor included Hela in that. Though this next part was directly strictly at his brother. "Loki, we are more than brothers. You may cast away that title, but the blood shed cannot be erased. Risible falls in childhood, those in battles fought together.. 'We few, we happy few, we band of brothers.. For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, be never so vile...' "
Ah, so the cube was his plot. Hela's involvement had complicated things, but Thor would not allow her to deter him from this mission. Loki would remain in Asgard.
However, Thor could not leave his mother here to fend for herself. To do so was unthinkable. If there was to be an escape attempt, he would much rather be here preventing it. It was not that he doubted his mother's abilities, Frigga's powers were great, but that he respected Loki's more. Hela was a wildcard, but her years in banishment had surely not been idle ones. She possessed her own powers. Mother, I cannot go. My place is here.." he insisted. Family. Duty. Honor. He would follow them in this order now, and his family was here.
But he did listen; he had learned that listening served him far less ill than acting brashly. Frigga was firm in her words, and although Thor was not as the other three, misnomers in a land which had held them hostage in ways different to each, he would listen. Though in many respects, the time for listening had long passed, but Thor would exhaust all other options first. "Amends cannot be made for the past. The wrongs that have been done to you are almost too great to avow forgiveness, but seek not this madness. Loki is not well. Would you aid him in his schemes? Threaten the realms?"

[atrb=border,0,true] Hela [style=width:450; height:300; padding:25; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:10px; color:white; overflow:auto] "No one expected it, Grandmother. No one saw my casting from the light until it was too late except Odin and Heimdall. I have no quarrel with you." Hela said honestly, her voice softened just the smallest bit as she addressed her grandmother. Her green eyes searched the room for a moment, looking to Thor, just as how she remembered him as a child. Large, blonde, sometimes blundering, but tried to have the best intentions, even if they clouded his judgment on what needed to be done. Eyes narrowed when her grandmother said, 'no child should be faulted their birth'. "All of my father's children have been punished. None of us were given a chance to live! I was shown a glimpse of happiness to have it torn away a moment later."
Hela nodded her head a bit to Frigga's conditions. She didn't know of this cube or why her father might want it. It didn't matter to the giantess. She came to collect her father, to free him, but the words of warning from Thor and Frigga were not lost on her. "I have no concern for this cube. I only have come to see the light of Asgard and free my father from his cage." She said in a low tone, the black and green of her clothing stood out starkly against the warm tones of the room.
"I respect your position, Grandmother and appreciate your willingness to allow me to do what I came here to do." She said, moving forward toward the cage when her attention was pulled away by Thor. How she wished to just reach out and take the life from him, but she didn't. She would abide by the requests of Frigga and not shed blood nor show violence in this hallowed hall. At least, she wouldn't be the first to swing, but would defend herself if need be.
Her head tilted a bit to Thor and she turned to look down down at his face. "So there is fear in your heart about this cube, yet you house the one you fear having it so near? Showing that amazing Asgardian intelligence are you not? Taking Loki away from the cube certainly seems like the better option." Hela's green eyes had a bit of an amused gleam in them. Somethings never changed she supposed. The people of the bright city of Asgard never really thought things through.

[atrb=border,0,true]So Cut Out The Heart And Watch the World Burn Down
Right now, Loki's own mind was no where near what it should have been. He merely viewed his daughter as a pawn, a tool, a key to open the door to the cell. His eyes a vibrant hue of blue as he began to pace the length of the cell. Just waiting for his moment to make his move.
No matter his mother's wishes, no matter the protection and guard placed around the cube. Once Loki took a single step out of the cell, the cubes full power would be at his disposal. Or rather he would be at the cube's very whim. Oh, what mother did not know would cause the death of many. His sinister smirk only continued to grow maliciously the more talk was about letting him out. Did they not know they were but safer just for moments longer that he was contained?
It was then her words of not fighting caused him to but laugh, and it grew in its nature, maddening. It was not natural of him, rather the Loki they once knew. He would take every moment given to slay anyone that stood in his way to the cube. No, they would not be stained. The walls would be painted.
Power corrupts. Absolute power... is a whole lot of fun.
His laughter continued even when Thor spoke, ""Nothing can help you now, no army, nothing. Stay and I will kill you here when you try to stop me. Leave to guard the Cube, and the result will be the same. You truly know naught the force you are about to face. " he hissed out in idle threat. All that needed was for the door to be opened, why the wait. were they content in standing and talking? Catching up on times they lost only due to one man's poor poor decision.
Every action Odin took to prevent such a fate from occurring was only the path to it. Would he have never done such a thing, spurned a son that would have proved to be more valuable then thousand of armies in a battle, maybe things would have been different. Time for such thoughts had fallen long ago. It had become a path, that there was no turning back from once it started. Thor did not understand, Loki was only doing this, because it was what he was born to do. He was to be the end of them all.

"Mother, please." he reached for her hands, urging her silently to reconsider some better solution though he knew better that there were none. Whatever knowledge or insight they would gain today, all it would amount to was failure. Their family had been broken.
Thor knew their words were right, but he wanted to believe they were untrue. He wanted to believe that somehow all of this could be fixed. It was childish of him to hold onto such thoughts, and even when he decided to listen the whispers did not go away. He wondered, if by releasing Loki unto Hela, would be be admitting that all hope for his brother was lost? Thor had been told that a true warrior could admit when he had been been beaten, but this war, if that's what it was, had not would not end on this day. On his mother's words, he would allow the release of Loki, but no evidence in his posture revealed any hint of defeat. This was not over, and when it was, it would end on Thor's terms. His words.
"You are owed this much and more Hela, for I hope this is not the last time I look upon you."
Thor almost refused to look upon Loki again, knowing fully what he would see- a possessed creature mad in its core and hungry. Some would label Loki a threat, many destruction incarnate, but beyond all of those words was his brother, and he was lost-- lost ever since he had slipped from his hands and into the dark. Besides power, just what did Loki find in the darkness? Thor wanted to ask. It was likely a foolish question, but Thor asked it anyways.
"Loki, what did you discover in that hole, in those other worlds? Answer me that and I will go as everyone asks, and face you another day."

[atrb=border,0,true] Hela [style=width:450; height:300; padding:25; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:10px; color:white; overflow:auto] Hela gazed upon her grandmother with a sort of softness coming to her face. Her lips that were held tightly, so tightly they were only thin lines, relaxed. She had always loved her grandmother, and didn't blame her for the betrayal. Not as much as she blamed others. Hela had the burden of the dead on her shoulders, Frigga had the burden of the future on hers. Which weight was heavier? Hela was not sure. The giantess found herself stepping away for a moment, her hand touch the smooth marble walls of the vault room. She had forgotten what they felt like, how she would have loved to step outside onto the grand bridge that connected to the bifrost. Just to feel the light and warmth on her skin. This desires were becoming exceedingly frustrating.
She turned herself back around, approaching the cage again, looking upon her father. Except he wasn't... not anymore. Maybe not ever again. It felt like Thor had just swung his hammer right into her chest as she realized a father's love was gone. She would still rescue him. She was still his daughter whether he cared for her or not, and that was what children were to do. Like it or not, you don't get to pick your parentage. If she had been able to now, it certainly wouldn't have been Loki and Angrboda. If it hadn't been them, maybe she would have been given a fair shake.
A slight shake of her head came, tossing away sentimental ideals of a child. Those dreams had no place in her mind anymore. There was no time for memories either. Memories of Frigga holding Hela on her lap and telling her great stories of people alive and dead and their valiant deeds, telling her she could be as loved as they were. Why not tell the truth? She wouldn't be as loved, but she would be one of the most feared creatures to exist in the nine realms. No time for memories of Thor teaching her how to ride horses, or pretending to be defeated by a child with a wooden version of Mjolnir. He allowed her to think one day she might be valiant and pure of intention enough to wield the hammer. What a fool she had been as a babe.
Gleaming emerald eyes stared back at the two 'relatives' though neither by blood, her hate returned to her face. The rage that brewed inside her for lifetimes was not going to just disappear because of a few pleasant memories. Those were quickly replaced by memories of the desolate worlds she was 'Queen' of. She was made a mockery in the eyes of Asgard. Queen of rocks and corpses. Not even a bright enough light to care for those of the great warriors sent to Valhalla. No, for that they had a pretty Asgardian, no room for monsters in the pathway of those ascending. She was made a monster, whether Thor or Frigga saw it, they had a hand in it too.
Hela's jaw tightened, showing the bone structure in her face that certainly made her favor her father. "Be brief, Loki. Lest they change their minds." The bitterness was back in her voice. Frigga could not have described her better, a child of cold and darkness. The men she had been tossed to as a child were not the best allies for a scared child to have. Her had been a terror for years as she was forced to adjust to souls and going to reap them from battlefields. Men who saw her as a child felt sympathy for her. What sort of a child should be sent to see that bloodshed? How would a child who saw that much violence ever be the same again... The answer? She wouldn't be. Hela couldn't remember the last time she saw the light of a sun or felt a sincere smile of happiness on her cheeks. |

[atrb=border,0,true]So Cut Out The Heart And Watch the World Burn Down
How could one not help but wonder what the cube had shown him, to others it gave an inherent truth of the worlds, but to a liar, the Prince of lies, it gave the false hope of what he had wanted. That every action he was taking, every sinister move and ulterior motive to twist the fate of the worlds to his masters bidding had be but pleasing to his adoptive family. That his leadership had made his family proud. That he was not a failure. That he had, would finally be accepted.
This was a lie.
The cube had twisted the siren song to tell him to continue to press further regardless that they were all against his actions. That in the end it would be worth it. This was only part of his driving force, that and to be free of his servitude. Such a feat would not be easy, it would all snow ball, he was but stuck into an endless placement of a pawn. Trapped to be used and discarded when the time was right. To Thanos he was expendable.
"Now after it all you wish to know what I discovered? In that dark crushing Oblivion I found nothing but truth that had been denied to me from the very moment. I thought It would end it all when I let go. I was Alone, in truth that I had always been alone, alienated, but for a reason I could not understand until. It all just made sense.
I was never meant to be anything greater then you, not even you equal. Can you even imagine the weight of knowing you are not what you were raised to beleive? An in that instance. That your whole life, but a lie? He laughed lightly, "I found Truth, after crashing to a jagged little rock of a world. Wishing, Hoping that one of you would find me. He shook his head, " And no one did. The truth that, I am alone, in everything."
With in that pervading silence, he watched them, before exiting the cell finally, taking a moment to use the surge of power from the cube to dissolve the chains about his wrist before directing the force towards Thor's form. He was not leaving with out vengeance, or the cube.
