.....................................................................
Full Name: Valeria Bellona Decimus
Code Name: Rave, Snow Black
Age: 22
Date of Birth: December 31st, 1990
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Species: Mutant
Alliance: Villain
Citizenship: Marvel
Canon or Original?: Original
"Victory is MINE Baldy!
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Long, naturally brown. Dyes different colors (red, violet, and blue) on whim.
Eyes: Mismatched Light Blue (right) Light Brown (left), though sometimes a molten gold color when she becomes very angry or emotional.
Height: 5'11”
Weight: 130 lbs.
Distinguishing Marks: Tongue Piercing, Back, Left Arm, Left Leg, Right Shoulder/Arm, Right Wrist, Right Elbow. She also has scars all over her body from various battles and from the experiments inflicted upon her during the last legs of her stay in Rome. While she had access to a healer, she keeps these scars as a reminder to herself, and to any that see her body, of what she fights every day for. She's also perpetually covered in bandages, from waist to below her chest, arms and legs, with the reason being that overuse of her powers causes her body damage, and fissures appear on her skin and cause it to split. Because of this she's constantly stitching up those splits and bandaging up her body.
Miscellaneous Talents: Exceptional cook, good with her hands, triple jointed.
Appearance: A truly gorgeous young lady whose latent gothic appearance serves only to enhance her exotic beauty. Her eyes are a dark, beguiling shade of light brown and sky blue (though they turn golden under duress or when she becomes very angry or emotional), as is the fine silken hair that falls short below her neckline, though she has a tendency to dye the latter into mixed shades of red, violet, and blue. Her deceptively compact figure is shapely, toned, and lithe as a blade from years of martial arts and training, slender but very powerful. She often wears lighter shades that contrast sharply with her smooth, dark skin. However, she also has scars in her back and legs, both from training in her chosen martial art and because of her fighting in Rome. While she sports these scars with much pride, inwardly they disgust her and she wishes nothing more then to get rid of them. She also to wear clothes that can make the people that see her raise eyebrows, such as shirts with various Muppets on them, or pants that have one leg cut off.

Fears: Being alone, dying without accomplishing her goals. Rave also fears telepaths in any form and will go through great lengths to dispose or get away from them.
Secrets: Rave is almost incapable of dealing with her personal life. While good with other people and charming as all get up when she wants to be, Valeria is horrid when it comes to herself, significant others or anyone she has to deal with on a frequent basis. After her experience in Rome with her own group of people and watching them die horribly, she has no real desire to get close, attached or any other such thing with anyone else, and therefore has no tact should she get irritated. Contradicting all of this is her intense fear, crippling of being alone.
Personality: Rave carries with her a huge chip on her shoulder - she is hot-tempered and easily riled. She thoroughly enjoys a good fight, and is very confident and prideful of her ability, roughcut as it may be. However, she also has an oddly charming, charismatic atmosphere - in a swashbuckling sort of way. Despite her sometimes rough ways and speech, inside, Rave is a genius - although her ingenuity runs more along the ways of Wile E. Coyote than Albert Einstein. She is a tough-as-nails fighter in not only her punishing style of her chosen martial arts, but in all manners of the word.
None of this, however, takes away from the fact that she's a cold blooded killer. Rave cares little for much else beyond her own world and the eventual triumph of the mutant race. She uses people like she uses a kleenex; there for what she needs but easily tossed aside in a garbage bin. The only people that are safe from her wrath are children, as any child has the potential to be a mutant. Other then that, everything about her that isn't cold, murderous raging psychopath is a mask she uses to hide what she really is; a monster with the need to wipe humanity off the face of the Earth.
On the flip side of that, however, is the acceptance of certain things that one cannot ignore in everyday life. Rave knows there aren't strictly mutant things she can own, like clothes or food. Humanity has provided the world with a great many things that one simply cannot avoid or live without, such as the currency of whatever country she happens to be in. She knows she can't just go out and buy mutant made clothing because that's not an option she has. Same with food; there are no mutant only cuisines. She accepts this as a necessary evil and moves on.

Powers: Gravity Manipulation: Rave can increase or diminish the gravity around herself or an object. This ability allows Rave to diminish the weight of things like people or cars and toss them about like rag dolls. She can make an object so heavy it can crush itself, or so light it floats – including herself. Note that there are only some abilities Rave can pull off, as there are others she hasn't explored yet.
Weapons N/A
Strengths/Abilities:
- Field Manipulation: As it says, Rave can control the gravity field around an object, letting her toss whatever it is almost effortlessly. The lighter the weight, the faster and farther she can throw it. So while cars and other such heavy objects are good for causing max mayhem and panic, something as simple as a pebble can be used as a projectile to snipe someone in the head. This field can also be used to enhance her durability to undefined levels by creating a skin tight forcefield around her body, allowing her to take bigger hits then normal people and survive larger impacts.
- Singularity Point: Rave can crush objects and people to mush by focusing the power of her gravity to a single point, usually about the size of a marble, and whatever (and whoever) is unlucky enough to be caught in that singularity will implode in on itself. This particular power is a favorite and has varying degrees of intensity. She often initiates it with a snap of her fingers, and it can never be more then twenty feet away. At it's most intense, the singularity will kill whoever is in the vicinity, and any objects lying around it will be annihilated. If she uses this at it's most intense, she won't be able to do much else for the rest of the day...or probably then next. At it's lowest intensity, the singularity will often sweep objects and people towards it, knocking people off their feet. The radius isn't all that big, however, maybe fifteen to twenty feet. She has enough control of this ability to crush a single human being to paste as well with minimal damage to herself...but doing it multiple times will result in the need to rest.
- Gravity Field: Rave can also increase the gravity around her in about a thirty foot radius (she could probably extend it further but hasn't tried), making people fall to their knees or make them fall to the ground altogether, preventing them from moving until she passes the area. The amount of time she can use this ability depends on the amount of objects or people in the area. The more things, the less time. If she's affecting one person, she can keep up the Gravity Field for about an hour before she needs to stop, and even then it won't be for long before she can start again.
- Diminished Weight Control / Flight: Rave can diminish her own gravity to fly or even jump great distances. This type of flight is limited, however, but not as much as one would think. Rave doesn't know how long she can fly and she's never tested it out, seeing as the consequences would be her plummeting towards Earth and possibly dying. The longest she's flown is about four hours, and the longest she's simply floated is quite a bit longer as she likes to do this regularly, simply floating along instead of walking. Rave can also manipulate her power to make an object float and hurl it towards something or someone. She often does this with any object lying about that can be used as weapons, up to and including civilians, though she likes to use small things like pencils or knives to greater effect.
- Supergravity Bubble: This is the ability to create a bubble of supergravity around her that shields her from harm, deflecting anything from bullets to energy powers that are directed at her. This power is a last resort and drains her only as much as the size of what she's protecting herself from and how she's doing it. If it's something like a car and she's stopping it fully, it would probably cause her nose and eyes to bleed from the strain. She does, however, have the option if simply redirecting it, which is less of a strain but she has virtually no control of where they go, only the general direction. Bullets, for example, she can redirect back towards the party that shooting her, but they could fly way over the intended targets head, it hit them straight between the eyes. The strength of the Supergravity Bubble is unknown to Rave as of now, as she's only just discovered how to use it. The only thing she knows is that the weakness of her power applies here, and there's always the possibility of her dying while using it if she's not careful.
Weaknesses:
- When it comes to lifting and throwing objects, it really depends on how heavy the object is. She can't, of course, life an entire building...not yet. Your average car or minivan would probably be the most she could lift without making her brain explode (about six to ten tons at max), and can only affect objects from about twenty feet away or closer. When she tosses an object and it flies, however, it flies as if weightless until about fifteen to twenty feet away, at which time it regains all its normal weight and crashes to the ground like normal. To smaller objects, things like pencils and rocks, she can throw faster and farther.
- Rave is plagued with accelerated metabolism when she uses her ability extensively. She needs to eat and eat a lot the more she uses her power. This usually results in Rave eating a comically large amount of food, despite her size. As such, she also always feels the need to work out and train.
- Any kind of mental power stops Rave cold. She has no defense against them and generally avoids any empaths or telepaths in general if she can. She has a latent fear of them, as there's nothing in her arsenal that can combat their abilities.
- Part of the reason Rave's body is so often overworked despite it's protests is because Rave is addicted to the use of her power. This part of her weakness is probably the worst, as it's the root of all her problems listed below. She wants to use her powers all the time, sometimes for trivial things, sometimes to murder someone; she simply needs to do it. Through discipline and meditation, however, Rave has learned to curb these cravings, but eventually they always win out, and most of the time Rave will let them. She only learned how to discipline these cravings because she wants to be the master of her own body. Because of this addiction, Rave will often suffer the following disabilities and drawbacks:
- Time. Time is Rave's enemy. She's documented that since her childhood she's been able to control her ability more and more, but it's still fickle and unreliable if used for extended periods of time. Ever since a particular incident when she was small when she used her power well beyond the means she was suppose to, the longevity she has been able to use her powers has greatly decreased – she's only able to continually use them for several hours, and even then the limits began to show themselves; migraines, dimmed vision, and her muscles around her arms and legs seem to tear themselves apart. Of course the more she pushes herself the longer she can use her powers and Rave dreams of a day when she can finally push through this obstacle and use her powers unhindered.
- Microfractures. Almost the maximum damage Rave can cause her own body is when microfractures will riddle her bones if she ignores her bodies protests. Microfractures are tiny fractures in a bone caused when the force applied to a bone exceeds the strength of that bone. To a certain extent, Rave is immune to the gravity that her power exerts. But if Rave uses her power for too long, it will get to be too much and her body simply cannot handle the stress. When this happens, Rave can literally feel her bones begin to shatter, and the pain is excruciating. If she doesn't stop, she could break every bone in her body.
- Migraines. Not normal ones, either. Migraines that made you wish you were dead. The migraines often cause Rave to go into a near catatonic state, unable move, talk or defend herself. This will happen instantly, without prior warning. There are times when this happens out of the blue, leaving her almost crippled with pain and weak as a kitten. She's learned to fight through these migraines well enough but depending on how long she's been using her power they can stop her dead in her tracks.
- Stress. The stress Rave puts on her body everyday, because of her powers and side effects, leave her stressed out and ornery. She knows that she should rest, that she needs to lie still and rest but that goes against everything that she is, so much so that she ignores her bodies pleas for just a few days or relaxation. In extreme cases (and this happens every so often) her body will give her no choice and she has to lay down or risk permanently injuring herself. In these cases doing anything but the simplest of tasks is painful for Rave, but she has yet to learn her lesson being as stubborn as she is.
- Overall, Rave's body is at war with itself. While she has the power over one of the fundamental forces of the universe itself, her body doesn't seem to be built to take on the pressure of what that power can actually do if unleashed to it's full potential without killing herself. Coupled with the fact that she's easily riled and her power can easily overload because of those emotions and Rave is a power keg waiting to explode. Every day she wants to strike a blow to humanity for the cause of mutants everywhere, but doing what she would really like to do would mean the death of herself and everything she stands for.

History:
'Rome was, and still is, a very dangerous place to be for a mutant. At best we are sold into servitude. At worst we are rounded up and made into an unperson. Don't ask me how, because I never wanted to know all the particulars, but that was somehow very good for the economy; there was a lot of money to be made in mutant countermeasures and gene mining. It was the reason why my family was so rich, why they would have been able to afford me a Ferrari for my sixteenth. So I can only imagine what must have been running through their minds, my parents especially, when they discovered that in their beloved little girl's veins ran the very blood that they made their daily bread from.'
Valeria was born into the wealthy House Decimus, a proud, pure Roman family, surviving all incarnations of Rome throughout the centuries untainted by any assimilated cultures. Like many Houses of its type, it had expanded its power by investing heavily into the benefits of different technological advances, and had since spread its influence into the realm of business and politics. Like every child of the House, Valeria was groomed early to become a success in whatever field she undertook. Starting at age four, she was schooled by only the most prolific tutors; no expense was spared for her education and upbringing. It being Rome and all things being what they were, she was brought up believing that mutants were a lower form of life.
All that changed at the age of seven, when in full view of her family, without even realizing, she made one of her dolls levitate in thin air.
First came the suspicions. When the suspicions were verified through private tests, next came the horror, and the whisperings. That the family had conceived a mutant was inconceivable. It put the family in a very precarious position. If her nature was discovered, it could cripple the House's status and potentially send it into ruin. Not to mention that harboring a mutant of any kind was a criminal act almost on par with treason. The family couldn't be linked with her in any way. The course of action that needed to be taken was quite clear. While Valeria's mother wholeheartedly agreed with the family's decisions, and her relatives offered to do what needed to be done, her father, to his credit, managed to stave off Valeria's sentence for nearly two years. When he could finally fight no more, he agreed to take care of the problem himself.
Valeria by then knew what she was. Though deeply ashamed and frightened at first, the appeal of her powers was seductive. She privately experimented further with her abilities, while outwardly trying to be as normal as possible for both her and her parents' sake. Other than her mother, who only thinly veiled her disgust for her daughter, the family continued to treat her so much like one of their own that she had no idea what was being plotted for her.
Under the pretense of a father/daughter vacation in Prague, Valeria's father drove her out to the distant countryside. There, he abandoned her. In the deadly anti-mutant climate of Rome, that was as good as a death sentence.
Alone, her powers still underdeveloped, Valeria still can't recall how she managed to survive that first year. Her pride nearly starved her before she finally learned to steal and scavenge. She grew sickly and feverish before she took to wearing whatever clothes she could get her hands on. Lost and confused, she continued to hold out hope that it was all some kind of ruse. She knew that she was being punished for continuing to use her powers, but still believed that her family would find her and take her back in. It wasn't until her first encounter with another, homicidal mutant (which she'd survived only by pure happenstance) that she'd finally become convinced that her parents had truly abandoned her.
Valeria endured Rome's inhospitable climate much longer than anyone, including herself, thought possible. As a little girl alone, a mutant, no less, she quickly found the world to be a dangerous, unwelcoming place. It's perhaps this period, more than anything, which causes her to remain quiet about her past. Suffice to say that she learned of humanity's lack of humanity towards those that were weak and unable to defend themselves. Her powers remained fickle, sometimes they'd help her, sometimes they wouldn't. Still, they were the only friend and ally she had. It wasn't until she was 12 that she learned what they were capable of.
Though she typically tried to avoid cities, due to their anti-mutant presence, they were the best places for scavenging and stealing. She was caught doing the latter by a shopkeeper while passing through Kiev. As the Special Police bore down on her, a panicked Valeria abruptly let loose with everything she had, far beyond the reaches of anything she'd thought possible (and hasn't been able to duplicate since). The resulting destruction eviscerated countless people and buildings nearby, lasting all of thirty seconds but rivaling most earthquakes. Though caught as much unawares by her power as those who suffered the brunt of it, Valeria had more than enough time to realize what she was doing, and laugh. The world had changed for her in ways the mass of humans she was ripping apart couldn't comprehend.
However, before the Police converged on her in force, and before she could focus her will into causing any more damage, she was telepathically subdued and spirited away by a mutant she would come to know as Tiberius Cassius.
Deus Vox
'You've got a lot of hate in your heart. That needn't be so bad, if it makes you want to put an end to this.' He gestured out the window. '...But one thing you need to remember, is that unless it's for the greater good, there is no reason to use your gift to hurt people.' He turned to Valeria and smiled slightly. 'Not anymore.'
'But I want to,' Valeria said.
The man's eyebrows rose as his smile faded. 'You don't have to.'
'But I want to,' Valeria repeated. The threads of panic were beginning to be replaced by anger. 'They're out there right now, killing all those people who are like us. I want to hurt them. I want to kill them back. Don't you?' She snatched her hand from the man's grasp. 'Can't you?'
Tiberius would go on to become a close friend and mentor to Valeria, becoming the first person to show her kindness in a long time. It was through his instruction that she began to fully understand what she was and the depth of her blessing. He greatly opened her eyes to the suffering of mutants in their homeland and worldwide, and the need for all mutants to band together, and help each other. More to the point, he taught her that the only way mutantity would ever assert themselves in the world would be to fight against their oppressors, and helped her realize that she had a responsibility to her powers, to use them to protect and aid others like her.
To that end, he instructed her in the finer points of guerrilla warfare, propaganda, and unconventional fighting tactics. She learned firsthand how take a small band of mutant with a various range of powers, and utilize each to form a cohesive, efficient force. This was demonstrated in Tiberius' small band of young freedom fighters, calling themselves Deus Vox (The Voice of God). Primarily targeting humanity's ongoing campaign of hate and openly challenging their ideals, Tiberius' ultimate goal was to free the mutants of Rome from the nation's oppressive rule. In Valeria, Tiberius saw a great power which could assist in turning that dream into a reality. Though he knew full well of the rage in her heart, he sought to help her channel it towards a positive cause. In Deus Vox, Valeria came to find a place among kindred spirits, and a new identity: The Goddess of Gravity.
Valeria was a freedom fighter for the next three years. During that time she bore raw witness to the full breadth of the evils mankind had visited upon her people. It made her question Tiberius' methods: though sometimes violent out of necessity, they yielded only moderate victories at best, due to Tiberius' desire to play the humans against each other.
Tiberius would come to realize that he'd greatly underestimated Valeria's anger and viciousness. Though she remained dedicated to the cause, she became argumentative, destructive, and excessively violent. At the young age of 15, she had already scored more kills than any of the other freedom fighters combined, usually against the Special Police which continually hounded the group, but more and more frequently innocents were being added to that number. Her increasingly murderous ways were seen as counterproductive by the others in the group, but it was the fact that she seemed unaffected by the killing that garnered the most concern. Tiberius, believing that her young mind had been warped by some of the horrors she'd witnessed, attempted to fix her through psionic means. He found out that there was nothing to fix because Valeria simply wasn't broken.
Due to their disagreements, Valeria and Tiberius' relationship began to deteriorate. However, this was overshadowed as Tiberius' maneuvers and careful machinations over the years culminated with the kidnapping of the Emperor's daughter. With such a powerful bargaining chip at his disposal, it seemed as though his dream for DV might be realized. But as fate would have it, the Special Police had likewise been tracking the group's movements throughout the years and had at last pinpointed the group's current location at the ruins of Philippi in Eastern Rome. A strangely intelligent human named Cassius Silva spearheaded the attack on the group, catching them unawares. Surrounded by Special Police, and against a 1:1 DV-to-Special Police ratio, Valeria and Tiberius watched as their comrades were cut down and captured. In a manic rage, Valeria prepared to destroy everything and everyone present, but Tiberius once again psychically subdued her, allowing her to fall into the Special Police's clutches under the condition that she be kept alive.
After her capture, Valeria remained a prisoner of the humans. Impressed with the display of power he'd seen, the human Silva took a great interest in Valeria, overseeing all procedures done to her. Kept in paralytic stasis like a lab specimen, she was subjected to numerous experiments, then placed back in nutrient stasis so that whatever meat cut from her could grow anew. This cycle would continue for the next six years of her life.
Valeria finally escaped under mysterious circumstances, which she would later find out was the phenomenon that allowed worlds to join...or whatever, since she hardly cared. As soon as she was healthy enough to do so, she fled Rome for New York City. Full of rage and hatred for her captors and the humans that they protected, and free of Tiberius' wayward philosophies, she set forth to take the fight to humanity her own way.

. It is, honest to God, as simple as that."Prior to Tiberius' arrival, Valeria had spent ten minutes listening to the girl a little ways to her right argue a case to her prick boyfriend. Among the key bullet points of the conversation was the assertion that mutants were humans too (they weren't), that they benefited society (note how the implied meaning was that mutants benefited human society), and that they had as much right to happiness as anyone else (the pretentiousness of that statement made Valeria grind her teeth). In not crushing the girl to a mass of liquids and powdered bone, Valeria felt she was showing remarkable self-restraint."
Almost as notorious as Rave's actions are her beliefs, the reason why even if she were to be captured, she would remain a very dangerous individual.
Valeria Decimus wants humanity dead.
Innocence or guilt is a non-factor. She doesn't care if they are anti-mutant. She doesn't care if they are pro-mutant. Indeed, she's made known that she finds the notion of a human advocating 'mutant rights', as if such a thing is theirs to dictate, extremely insulting. She's shown nothing but disdain for their so-called ethics, which they expect mutants to abide by. She doesn't care if they somehow acquired mutant-like abilities through drugs or otherwise. She doesn't care if they have a mutant in their family. She doesn't want them enslaved; she's aware of how strong the human spirit can be and knows that if enslaved they will eventually rise up against her. She doesn't want them rounded up and stranded in Antarctica. She doesn't want a segregated society between mutant and humans. She doesn't want to negotiate with them, make concessions with them, or accommodate them in any way. She doesn't want them cowed, humiliated, broken, beaten, subjugated, demoralized, or bankrupted. For the sins they've committed against her people, she doesn't want them to suffer.
She wants them dead
Mutantity, on the other hand, she wishes nothing but the best for. Indeed, everything she has done, has been in effort to free the minds and bodies of her people from the shackles humanity has placed upon them. This not only includes the overt capture and mistreatment of mutants overseas, but also the docile, "we can coexist peacefully" attitude of the mutants of not only New York City, but the world. To Rave, this is just another form of servitude, instilled upon mutants from birth. She sees it as the world's insidious way of controlling a population of people who are, in the end, far more advanced genetically than their human counterparts, and benefiting from their gifts by coercing them into willful servitude. Given the number of mutants in New York City who've selflessly served to defend humanity from dangers, she may be on to something.
Though she acts as a leader and catalyst to her movement, Rave has stated that she has no desire to rule over mutants, as she believes that all mutants, including herself, are equals. She only wants to free them from the scourge that is humanity, a fundamentally flawed, fearful, petulant, savage, hateful, murderous species that will only ever serve to impede and oppress her people's growth. The only way to truly achieve that freedom, she reasons, is to wholly remove humanity from the equation. In doing so, mutantkind will inherit the Earth, in keeping with nature's law of survival of the fittest. She wants all mutant to see that day together, but anyone who stands in her way takes their life in their own hands.
The (predominantly human/human-controlled) media at large has covered Rave's philosophies and poo-pooed them as the ravings of an insane, racist, fanatical terrorist. That's one school of thought. The other is that unlike many of the mutants of New York City (or the rest of the world for that matter), Rave has seen and endured the atrocities committed to her people up close and personal, on a daily basis. She understands, far better than most, what the cleansing of her people from Rome was meant to be, and seeks to prevent such a thing from ever occurring again, through the most coldly logical method available. And since humanity not only spared mutants no quarter, but were also the ones to initiate mass genocide, they're deserving of precisely the same.[/blockquote]
