It had taken some time for Zara to be somewhat satisfied with the results of the toxicology results. She had spent more time studying photographs of the victims than she had before. Whatever this stuff was it was something that she was having a hard time getting to grips to. Biochemistry was another area she delved into though and so she had stuck herself right in. It had of course meant some sleepless nights but now she had gotten somewhere.
Zara logged herself onto her laptop and pulled up a search engine before looking for her paper. And there it was, the first result. She smiled to herself.
Research into production and effects of ‘Joker Venom’
Dr. Zara Celeste O’Riley
Research was conducted from samples collected from a Boston nightclub where mass murder occurred. The police confirmed that the substance used is called ‘Joker Venom’ (JV) and is the signature weapon of the Joker.
All samples were collected with the utmost care to ensure that no cross contamination occurred. This ensures that all results and findings are as pure and reliable as they can be.
The venom took affect on each of the deceased. The bodies appear to go into extreme rigor mortis, especially concerning the muscles in the facial area where the lips had been drawn into a wide smile.
Upon examination of the samples taken from blood samples and also swabs of the crime scene it was found that the venom was in part composed of hydrogen cyanide and Strychnodide (a strychnine derivative), causing an abrupt halt of the victims brain and heart functions. It is also to be noted that the skin of the deceased was discoloured beyond usual.
JV can be administered as either a gas or a liquid. The hyperstimulation caused by the venom caused the victims to laugh themselves to death.
Further research is being done to imitate the sample within the confines of the lab. It is thought that low dose exposure over a long period of time may build resistance but further testing would be needed to confirm this.
