Personality:
Joanne is a fun loving type of girl. She was locked up for a long time, so pretty much anything life has to offer is fair game, she will do anything once and her morals are pretty flimsy. She's quick to anger and can be very selfish. She surrounds herself with people that adore and fear her.
She doesn't really have a plan in life, she's just there, doing anything she wants. She typically avoids killing people but she likes inflicting pain on those who don't give her what she wants. She enjoys the power that her abilities give her over other people and abuses this power as often as she feels like.
She's flirty and funny and sarcastic. She's almost chauvinistic in her sex appeal, groping and touching any one she wants and boasting about her past exploits in bed are regular practice despite the over all social norm that illustrates this as a bad thing. She angers quickly and reacts violently to people who disagree with her.

Powers:
Un-fucking-believably strong Telekinesis
The upper limits of this telekinesis are strong enough to level a city but the resulting collateral damage would probably kill Calamity in the process. The way the power works is, the less force she uses, the more control she has, The more force she uses, the less control she has.[Note: FT = Force Tons, or Tons of force being exerted]
- 100% - Maximum force[???]: She levels New York City in its entirety, she dies, the people she's fighting die, everybody dies.
- 40% - Current Maximum Safety Range[500FT]: These Telekinetic explosions and blasts will level a city block in short order. At this level, she can control them enough to not kill herself instantly and has good accuracy in their placement. She cannot project a shield while throwing telekinetic attacks of this degree. Beyond aiming and firing, she has no fine control, she can't pick up an oil tanker for example, but she can cleave one in half down the middle!
- 20% - Half Safe Maximum[100FT]: She's able to maintain a shield and throw blasts and explosions that could level a building, pick up and throw around 18 wheelers and turn people into blood stains.
- 10% - One Quarter Safe Maximum[25FT]: Walls, Cars, Concrete, Gone. She can bend and shape steel beams to suit. She probably couldn't hold most genuinely 'super' powered heroes at bay using this though, since there's a good chance they could over power the telekinetic force used at this level, since she has traded so much raw power for control. She could theoretically ramp her power up to 20% and restrain The Hulk(for Example), but doing so would require exceptional focus, she'd probably have to sacrifice her shields to do it. Fine control is limited to rudimentary actions. Restrain, Bend, Twist, push, pull, lift, lower.
- 5% - Lowest "Combative" Rating[10FT]: At this degree, more fine motor controls are gained. She can lift and manipulate with 'good' control any object weighing up to ten-ish tons. She could lift a car and pull the tires off it, break the glass and crush 'only' the roof in. She could pick up a steel heavy support beam and draw her name in a paved road, she could rip the arms and legs off a person without crushing them in the process[But if she tried to throw them, they'd probably go splat and being picked up at this level feels like being placed in a body vice, difficult to breath, arms and legs spread and rigid]. At this level still though, smaller frailer objects are still utterly destroyed if she tries to manipulate them. Small pets, toys, remote to the TV, the TV itself! She lacks the fine control to manipulate objects of this kind in the first place, and any attempts to do so result in those objects 'breaking' in some way.
- 0.5% - 'Civilian' Force[n/a]: Anything from 1000 pounds to 100 pounds of force is the maximum for this level, but she can manipulate with fine control small objects, and lots of them, she could make herself breakfast or break fingers from across the room. She could pick up every piece of furnature in a room or bump every car on a street(lol car alarms). She can pick people up and toss them around, she can control the direction and application of this force so finely, she can use it to augment her own physical strength.
Telekinetic Shielding
Through rigorous, torturous training, the agency that experimented on her helped her learn to develop automatic force field shielding. This shield is skin tight and protects Calamity from harm. It is referred to as simply 'the shield' and can withstand quite a beating. Incoming force is reflected to a certain degree, the rest is absorbed to a certain degree and past that, it's diluted. So if you hit her hard enough, she'll feel it. A punch from the hulk would send her flying and probably daze her, but she'd survive, a punch from iron man would probably give her a bloody nose.
And of course, Flying <3
With her shield going, and it's usually going, Calamity can fly quite fast. She's able to propel her lithe body at around speeds equaling mock I at the upper maximum. Unsurprisingly enough, she can also turn herself into a projectile bomb. She often chooses to arrive on the scene of battle in this way. Zipping across the skies at super sonic speeds and then colliding catastrophically with enemy infrastructure, only to rise from the debris triumphantly.
Telepathic Immunity
Part of her mutation allows her a rare gift. Telepaths cannot 'see' her, their powers do not function on her. She can not be telepathically mind controlled and her thoughts may not be read, telepathic communication doesn't work on her and her emotions may not be effected by empathic telepaths.
Weapons Nada
Strengths/Abilities:
- Bachelors in physics
- Strong Will Power
- High Pain Tolerance
Weaknesses: (at least 2)
Achladine
This drug was specially formulated to control Calamity. The very same unique brain chemistry that makes her immune to telepaths makes her vulnerable to this simple chemical compound. It can dilute her powers, making them weaker, and in high doses, remove her telekinetic abilities entirely. It can also dilute her personality, turning her into an automaton, open to suggestion and influence. When synthesized, it must be done so one of two ways, each compound effects her differently, as listed below. Achladine can not kill Joanne, but it does make her very very very sick if she is exposed to too much of it.
- Achladine-A: When synthesized with alpha proteins, Achladine effects Calamity's telekinetic abilities. One typical injection will reduce her abilities by about 75% for a few hours, two will completely wipe them out for a few days. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting and periodic numbness through out Joanne's body in various degrees of severity in conjunction to the amount of Achladine in her system.
- Achladine-B: When Synthesized with beta proteins, Calamity's higher brain functions are altered in unprecedented ways. Her personality, ability to think creatively as well as critically, and her free will are all muted. One typical injection will completely wipe her personality out for a few hours. During this time, she follows any instruction given to her by any one, she'll perform basic bodily maintenance on her own though, such as restroom breaks and nourishment. If given a high dose though, she will turn into a complete automaton, unable to act for herself in any way at all. Calamity retains all her memories during this though. She can make use of all her five senses and remembers everything she does and that is done to her with perfect clarity, she simply isn't able to control her body in any way.
- Achladine-X: Before Calamity escaped, they were formulating a version of Achladine using Calamity's DNA that would grant her powers to any one who consumed the drug. They were partially successful, how ever, any one who consumed enough of the drug to gain telekinetic powers died within a few hours as the drug wore off. They were unable to complete this version of Achladine as their test subject escaped and is no longer available for testing.
- How does this help me stop her? - The Top level secret government program that was in charge of handling Calamity released the formula to all venues of law enforcement when Calamity escaped from their custody. This is explained in her background, but basically if you're a hero with a tie to any marvel based government or law enforcement agency and you intend on going after Calamity, they will -give- you Achladine for free(Along with a coupon book for the local mortuary)
- Wait! what about an Aerosol version? - An Aerosol version of Achladine-A exists, it is much weaker than while in its liquid form however. Additionally Exposure to the gas is -not- tested in humans, so results may vary. When exposed to the Aerosol version of achladine-A, Calamity will begin experiencing aches and pains through out her body as well as phantom periodic numbness, Her powers are largely uneffected how ever. Continued exposure to the gas will gradually diminish her powers of the course of a few minutes or so. Aerosol Achladine-A is a tasteless clear gas that smells faintly like black olives. It is impossible to turn Achladine-B to gaseous form without denaturing the compound.
Unhinged
Due to her time spent in captivity, Calamity is fairly crazy. She was subjected to torture like conditions and rape with measurable frequency. Her mind is very fractured and since she is immune to telepathy, it's up to her (and maybe a really dedicated therapist) to put the pieces back together. But Calamity doesn't want to put the pieces back together. Deep down, part of her suffers for the person she has become, and wants to change, but like all villians, sometimes going back is an impossible task and destroying the world is just so much easier.
Shield vulnerability
Calamity's shields do not operate as a true shield, they only activate when a specific measurement of force or greater is registered as approaching her (We'll say 1 newton, the average human body exerts 0.7~ newtons of force on the ground via gravity, for reference, so anything less than the force required to carry a 220 pound individual around will pass through the shield, which is fairly generous). Even shields that she creates actively are unable to stop weaker forces. They simply pass through rather than be repelled. So you could walk right through a larger shield she might be projecting, if you knew you could.
- What this means - it means attacks which produce little or no force will pass right through her protective shields, such as some one pouring a bucket of acid onto her or shooting her with a flame thrower. you could even go so far as to realize if you did it delicately and precisely enough, you could pass bladed weapons through the shield to cut her(Would require bat-family level martial arts mastery though, probably). One of Batmans punches probably has about 2200 pounds of force in it, or roughly 10 newtons(If my math is right, I am not a physicist xD) for reference.
Just a Wee girl!
Without her powers, Calamity is nothing more than a bratty bitch cowgirl. She has no remarkable talents or abilities, she knows a little about hand to hand combat, but she's a far cry from a black belt, she can't sneak around, she isn't particularly charismatic, or a good liar. She's got a bachelors in physics and enjoys loud country music and busch beer, that's about it!

History:
Born to middle class Parents that owned and operated a cattle farm in the deep middle of no where south of central Texas. Father was a hard worker, mother was a good woman. Neither of them liked mutants, or gays, or any sort of thing like that, they could be called 'god fearing' people and went to church regularly. At age 14, her powers manifest at the junior high prom in the 8th grade and she killed or injured nearly all her class mates and teachers, she herself barely survived. The explosion was a mystery and a tragedy that shook the entire little community in their dust bowl town that had a population of about 15,000 people. And mysteries attract mysterious people and shortly after, men wearing black suits with no names started snooping around.
About 4 months later, another incident occurred, the mysterious 'agents' were still hanging around, researching, waiting. This time the incident was caught on tape in Wal-Mart. Joanne had been fighting with another child from their school in the electronics section and very clearly retaliated using her power. After that, a series of events unfolded that would change Joanne's life for ever. Official documents found their way into legislature stating Joanne would be turned over to the state in the event of her parents demise, two weeks later, an explosion at the Lubrick home destroyed the two story farm house and killed every one inside, every one except Joanne. Joanne's grandparents tried to fight for custody and lost. Joanne spent less than a month in foster care before special government agents arrived with paperwork to take her away. After that, Joanne did not see the light of day for 3 years.
She was subjected to all manor of invasive experiments as a subject of the weapon X program. An entire division was assembled for her specifically, devoted to the pursuit of unlocking her abilities, and discovering how they functioned. Keeping her 'cooperative' proved difficult at first as she slowly learned to control her incredible power. At first they kept her sedated, but then the development of Achladine-A allowed them to continue experimenting with her fully aware and awake. It made discerning information much easier, through trial and error they created Achladine-B and then talk of using her as a weapon began to filter around.
She was outfitted with a special device that fed these two chemicals by remote command directly into her brain via spinal cord. They could keep her utterly saturated with Achladine-B and should something go wrong, a powerful dose of Achladine-A was just a button press away. There was no anesthetic, so she was in constant pain, though she couldn't cry out. Inside her ears were earphones that fed radio communication from command right to her and on either side of her head were cameras, they controlled her every movement. Over the course of the next couple years she existed as nothing but a puppet, literally. This would be her life until she was killed, a passenger in a body that was not a vessel for life, but rather, just a simple tool. She was put away like a tool, and taken out like a tool when she was needed. Unfortunately, her handler was not a well adjusted man, and he made his own use of her, when no one was watching, of course. They kept her pumped full of Achladine-B, with regular injections of Achladine-A when she was not out on mission.
She was granted her freedom during a mission how ever, when her handler made a fatal mistake. She encountered a mutant of formidable power who was acting as body guard to her target and this mutant managed to best Calamity in battle with a combination of teleportation and electricity and advanced martial arts. They have no idea what happened, but the last transmission read Joanne's vitals at falling fast and approaching flat line. A powerful shock had fried all the electrical equipment on her, including the tracking device they had surgically implanted. A search was initiated, but returned with nothing.
She was picked up several days later by a police officer. She had mysterious wounds and her story did not add up. Extended exposure to Achladine B had really done a number on her and for a long time, she was mentally retarded. A full investigation was launched but proved futile. Professor Charles Xavier got wind of it and offered his aid, but she refused him, she didn't want anything to do with anybody she didn't recognize. Now an Adult, she elected to seek out her grand parents, who accepted her lovingly. Her mind was broken, but with time, it would heal. Nightmares plagued her sleep and post traumatic stress effected her waking hours. Having always been a pretty smart girl, she got a GED and began attending university a few months later. Professor Xavier reached out to her again and she refused him again. It was a struggle to maintain happiness on a day to day level, the burden of what she'd been through tore at her soul. A cocktail of antidepressants and other medications kept her functional though. Of course her ordeals made head lines, nothing but mysterious implications as to where she was or what she'd truely been through made it to print, but people knew she was a mutant. It was enough to make finding a job after College hard. Again, Professor Xavier attempted to lend his aid and she lashed out, this time severely injuring the staff member he sent to reach out to her.
She'd been through years of therapy and was still unstable, and that violence was the first real step towards realizing just how unstable she was. She rather liked the carnage of fighting fist and nail against another super powered being. Prior to that, she'd been largely docile and harmless, she rarely ever used her power, she was terrified of her powers in fact. Over the course of about six months she slowly changed from a tender, kind young adult with a bright future, into a craven murderer with a thirst for destruction. Lashing out was the only thing that made her feel better. Breaking things was the only solace she had. She left her grand parents home and began to wonder aimlessly, leaving destruction in her wake. She rarely killed though, still to this day, she rarely will kill a person.
She eventually fell into a crowd of people that liked to party and her entire life began to revolve around the search for sensory overload. She lived between two extremes, massively depressed and sensationally happy. She moved from place to place, doing what ever she wanted. Slowly she fell into a pattern, a way of life, and she liked it. It was chaos, and it made her happy. All the sex drugs and rock and roll she could get her hands on, well in this case, country music. And prayers be with anybody who wants to get in her way.
She's so caught up in her hedonism that she didn't even notice this universe merge with another one. Honestly? She could care less.
