Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

The teenager had been approaching the Justice League for help in her fight against her demonic father. But Zatanna had sensed Raven's demonic heritage and one thing lead to another and they had not helped Raven. Instead the girl had reformed the Teen Titans to fight against her father and they did a brilliant job. Earth currently was Trigon free. The important part was 'currently', although the last time Raven had faced her father he had been robbed of his power, it appeared that something else might be happening. Recently, the Titan had been feeling.
Normally feeling was not a reason to worry, normally it wasn't a reason to attempt to reform the Titans and go to magic users for help. It was in Raven's case. Normally the teenager managed to keep her emotions at bay, even if she wanted to feel. Yes, Raven had been ignoring the fact that she did feel for Gar, but the more worrying emotions were negative. Raven had almost lost control when a kitten had been hurt and also when she felt guilt and then anger at Sinestro when he was ill. Both times she had lost control and attacked. Although she second time she had attacked an ill friend and that had been the point when the Titan decided to definitely seek help.
At first she had gone to Doctor Fate, he had been helpful but Raven did not like the option that he had offered. It had given her another emotional outburst. So the teenager decided to go and talk to Zatanna. Even if she couldn't offer Raven help, at least more magic users would be aware that Raven was possibly going to be a threat. If the Titans weren't together by then, hopefully the magic users could stop her, kill her if they must. It was something that Raven was prepared for, although she would prefer to suvive. Gar had complained when he thought she might suggest something suicidal and heroic when her brothers were using her as a portal.
Teleporting to gates of where Zatanna lived was easy enough for the half demon. The black and giant raven appeared before fading into the form of the teenager, cloak and all. There, Raven decided to rest. It would be impolite to move forwards and no doubt her apperance would be known. Even possibly setting off some alarms. Raven was aware that the presence of a demon, even only a half demon, could be considered a problem and something that most magic users would take precautions against. Hopefully she wouldn't be blasted by some magic. [/div] [/style]

I put a spell on you, you hear me? because you are mine - - - - - - - - The Mistress of Magic[style=margin-top: -10px; margin-right: -10px; border: #fff 1px dashed; padding: 5px; overflow: auto; width: 360px; height: 200px; font-family: trebuchet ms; font-size: 9px; line-height: 15px; background-color: #0F0F0F; color:#8E8A8E;filter: alpha(opacity=50); -moz-opacity: .50; opacity:.50;] There was a shift in the air about Shadowcrest, the kind that registered a high magical source, but Zatanna caught the familiar mixture of demon energy resonating within that form, immediately thinking of the Raven girl, the one she had cautioned the Justice League about years earlier.
And here she was, right at her front gates. "Go get the door, will you O'Keefe?" she said lazily, turning the page in her book without so much as batting an eyelash. It was so much easier to pretend for that moment the reality where Raven was at her home did not exist. Let her butler handle it instead, but then she remembered O'Keefe and the rest of the Shadowcrest staff were just conjured housekeepers and tied to the house. ".....damn. I need to get myself my own Alfred." she closed the spell book on the desk and waved it off, the pages fluttering into the air and levitating back onto its place on the shelf with the simple whisper of the word 'Ylf'.
Part of her wanted to shoo the girl away like an annoying salesman, but she knew better that anyone to intentionally locate her family home and just wait at the gate had business that could not just be ignored, no matter how badly Zatanna wanted a holiday. "I don't take it you're selling girl scout cookies.." a voice greeted Raven. "Raeppa." she said in a low voice, appearing before the the teen after the burst of a tiny pink champagne bubble. Probably a little bit too much Wizard of Oz reference in that entrance, but Zatanna Zatara, who raised on the stage, was always an entertainer.

So the Titan had remained stationary until a voice sounded around her. "I don't take it you're selling girl scout cookies.." So she had been noticed. Raven's automatic response was to check the emotional atmosphere, it gave her so many clues on how to respond. But there was no hint in the air around her. Or was there? "Raeppa." The emotions became clearer to Raven and it was obvious that Zatanna was not too pleased to see her.
The entrance had a flair, but that didn't bother Raven. When she appeared it was usually in purple smoke or within a giant black raven. Magic had its flairs and those who used it did as well. "I'm sorry for intruding on your time." [/b] Raven started, politely. That was always the best way to go, especially when you turned up at someone's gate who had warned a League of Justice not to trust you based on your heritage. The grounds she tread could be dangerous. Raven paused for a second, allowing time for Zatanna to be aware that Raven did not want to be a nuisance. "It's just that I have been having some... issues and with the Teen Titans not exactly reformed I feel that it would be better to take as many precautions as possible."[/b] It wasn't like Raven could use the Ramat stone again, nor could she rely on the Titans. The Titan was only just getting them back together. Raven was aware that the way she moved straight into the problem might not be the best way to endear her, but at the present moment the teenager was more concerned about protecting earth and the universe. After that she could see if it were possible to get on a more friendly term with Zatanna. Raven closed her eyes for a second as she waited for a reply. The girl was aware that she may be sent away, not trusted. But she hoped that Zatanna would take her cause serious. Doctor Fate had, the scales had proved that Raven wasn't completely evil. Doctor Fate's solution just had not been something that Raven could accept. Maybe Zatanna had another solution, or at the least a way to kill Raven if the Titan did loose control. If both Doctor Fate and Zatanna were on the case, then at least the odds of her father regaining power seemed pretty slim.[/blockquote][/div] [/style]

Raven was fated for a horrible destiny, and in her experience challenging fate only often brought you closer on its doorstep.
She didn’t want to trust her, all senses and signs on the magic 8 ball pointed to no, but Zatanna accepted, at least for now, Raven’s words as sincere. At the very least she’d gain an insight into the situation, and she definitely had the home field advantage within Shadowcrest.
Zatanna said nothing, the expression in her eyes narrowing slightly before gesturing Raven to follow her inside. The walk from the gates to the front doorstep was pretty long, but as they moved the scenery around them seemed to shift as well. In less than seven strides, they had arrived on the front doorstep, a distance of more than 100 yards bridged through in a matter of moments. The large doors opened on their own, and Zatanna motioned for the Raven girl to step inside her home.
“It’s too loud out here,” she looked out into the grounds, skeptic at the very trees themselves, their boughs whispering to the wind.

These were three of the emotions that popped up in the teenager as she sensed the obvious suspicons within Zatanna. Thre was a fourth, somewhat lesser emotions that 'Raven girl' felt; rage. No matter what Raven did, her heritage always clouded others judgements - Raven would always be judged by her cover and no one ever hid it. Eyes closed as she dispelled these unwanted emotions and hide any inner pain that may be seen in them.
Her pride refused to allow Raven to point out such blatent discrimination. Along with the worry that speaking out would increase their dislike of her.
They are right not to trustme. The Teen Titan reflected, almost mournfully: she too hated the darkness and evil within her very own soul; something she could never escape. So when Zatanna wordlessly gestured for Raven to enter, the teenager felt nervousness try to pick it's way into her heart. Zatnna's emotions had shown no change. As they walked, Raven wondered if she felt regrete about picking up the courage to speak to the magician about her problems.
Too late to back out.
Raven scarecly noticed how the journey took less time than it should have, although she observed it and permitted herself to marvel at it for a few seconds. Before she knew it, they had arrived (magical doors opening - the luxury!)and Raven was being motioned inside. The teenager entered, trusting that she would not enter into a trap. After all, Zatanna did have her suspicions.
“It’s too loud out here,” Raven followed Zatanna's gaze out into the grounds. Maybe Zatanna's home was not as good as it appeared. Now would come the hardest part - stripping away the sensitive knowledge until she was bare and vulnerable. To someone who couldn't even trust her. "I suppose it's safe to talk now?" Raven asked politely, ignoring the bitter urge to add "Besides, you probably want me gone as soon as possible." and deleting any emotions within her. [/div] [/style]

She relaxed slightly, an ounce of tension relieved with the security and comfort of being inside her family home. Zatanna smiled down at the welcome mat beneath their feet, as though she were greeting an old friend. Once their shoes had made contact, the embroidery moved as though an imaginary source was writing in cursive letters the words Home, sweet home. The moment their feet left contact the patterned carpet would shift back to normal. "I got that from a djinni in Hamunaptra," she said, making light conversation as they continued down the main hall, peeking at Raven's expression every now and then. Several paintings were hung on its walls, some of her ancestor Zatara sorcerers, others were pieces spanning from every artistic period. The paintings were not frozen portraits, they were moving, breathing representations of magicians' past. Her grandfather was in the midst of a scene of pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Another pair of women, twins sitting in a Versailles flower garden, gossiped about Zee and Raven as they past, whispering into the other's ear. Zatanna loved to collect art pieces from artists who practiced sorcery. If only people knew about the magic some of the world's best art contained. Even cave drawings told a greater story, if you had the eye to watch for it.
"And if you're wondering, yes. Those are original DaVinci's, straight out of his notebook. I've thought about donating them to a museum, but they just wouldn't come alive like they do here." the ink flowed across the page like it was cut from the scene of an animation. DaVinci's designs for a flying machine actually flew across the page, out of the page, into other pages, and through the air before it settled back into its painting again. Little mathematical calculations, actually incantations, trailed the drawings like pixie dust, falling down and then dispersing into the air like smoke.
Zatanna had to admit she was enjoying the little tour. It was not often she had visitors within Shadowcrest. There really wasn't anyone around to enjoy it but her. "Ah, here we are. The library. You like reading don't you? Please, sit." Even if the situation was an unnerving one, Zatanna was not about to deny Raven formal comfort. If the teen needed help, perhaps there could have been an answer for her within one of the volumes of her collection.
Two arm chairs pulled up for them to sit. Zee didn't like furniture clogging her decor and the exact number always came out when the situation required. A side table followed the chairs, along with a lamp and a few artifacts she liked to display. A book on the table flew up and nudged her, but she paid it no mind and instead settled herself comfortably. Tobin's Spirit Guide then rapped her on the head, nearly knocking off her hat. Zee's eyes widened for a moment. "Why you little- Nwod." she hissed at it, the incantation from her lips causing the naughty text to fall right back on the table in a loud thump. "Excuse me. Sometimes you just can't put a book down." she shrugged. "Tea?" a silver cart rolled down between them, coming out of same tiny door the furniture had entered. Zatanna did nothing as the teapot politely poured its mistress a cup and then turned to Raven for an answer.

Even with all her training, emotions still did have sway over Raven and with the recent issues she had been having... It was then that the teenager noticed the mat that changed to welcome them. "I got that from a djinni in Hamunaptra," Raven nodded - Zatanna was much more magically active then the teenager although Raven did have her moments. "It's a nice way to enter a home." |
[/b] Raven said softly. With emotions sneaking in, Raven started to notice these sorts of things. As they walked, the half-demon looked at the moving pictures with interest; she was reminded of a book that she had read where a magical school had moving pictures. A lot of them seemed to be of magical scenes, Raven noted, watching as one character pulled a rabbit from a hat. Then another picture caught her attention, a flying machine. The Titan turned to look at Zatanna, about to ask, when the magician spoke. "And if you're wondering, yes. Those are original DaVinci's, straight out of his notebook. I've thought about donating them to a museum, but they just wouldn't come alive like they do here." "It is an interesting collection that you have."[/b] Raven commented as she looked at the pictures as they moved. For a second, Raven paused, taking in the emotions around her, she could feel Zatanna's enjoyment of the tour and it was a nice emotion to be around when such a pressing situation had caused Raven to seek help. Then they reached a place that Raven would not forget. The library. "Ah, here we are. The library. You like reading don't you? Please, sit." Raven watched as the furniture came to them, the teenager deciding that Titans Tower needed a magical update as well as a library. "I do... like reading. It is one of the few pleasures that I have."[/b] Raven said. Being unable to feel emotions meant that she should technically not enjoy reading as much as she should. But over the years the Titan had found no harm in it. Sitting down, Raven watched as a book appeared, moving by itself, nudging Zatanna and wanting attention until she spoke. "Why you little- Nwod." Raven watched as the book fell down before turning her indigo gaze to Zatanna. "Excuse me. Sometimes you just can't put a book down." The teenager nodded in agreement, she understood about that although Raven's books never actually moved. "Tea?" Raven nodded. "Thank you, tea would be most welcome."[/b] The Titan said, to both Zatanna and the teapot that seemed to be waiting for a reply. Slowly, Raven took in a breath. Maybe now would be the time to talk. It seemed a shame to break such a beautiful atmosphere. "I suppose that I can talk about the reason behind my visit here?"[/b] Raven said after several seconds of thought. Although the atmosphere seemed to have calmed down, Raven knew that her presence was probably wanted gone as soon as possible. Or maybe she just had a very negative view of her presence. Either way, Raven was going to keep an eye on the emotions around her.[/style] tags:Zatanna word count: ??? muse: Folk notes: Nice post! Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

A little spoon bobbed up to her and heaved sugar into her tea very eagerly. It too longed for hosting company, often waiting for long periods of time shoved inside the dark cupboard until it was called upon.
"Oh gosh, is that too much sugar? It seems the spoons a little generous today." it responded by turning away from Zatanna with a sharp spin on its axis, refusing to listen to its mistress. What was it? Sassy utensils day?
Oh right, yes. The issue. She was not just showing off her house to a visitor. There was a purpose. Man, did she really need to have parties more often. Then again, who would she invite? About 90% of the super heroes in her contacts were always off saving the day. Bruce Wayne was one of her oldest friends from childhood and they hardly met with each other. It was a damn shame, and glorious waste of fabulous decor. She reminded herself to have visitors more often. She liked the company.
Until she realized who her company was an the probable future ahead of them. Zatanna crossed her legs, ready to listen, and sipped her tea quietly, allowing Raven to continue with a courteous nod.

While the teenager could sense the magician's present emotions it did not give her much of an idea of how life was like for the magician. Then there was the spoon which seemed to have its own personality as it gave the Titan generous helpings of sugar. "Oh gosh, is that too much sugar? It seems the spoons a little generous today." "Do not worry." |
[/b] Raven informed Zatanna as the teenager watched the spoon turn away from the Mistress of Magic. Taking her own cup, Raven took a sip as she felt the emotional atmosphere change as the topic of her visit was brought up. The tea was good, despite the large amounts of sugar. Placing the cup carefully down, indigo eyes moved to look at Zatanna, waiting to see how the magician would respond. With the nod, Raven started to speak. "In recent times I have had trouble controlling my emotions and thus my powers. I... feared that Trigon was gaining power. Doctor Fate has confirmed my suspicions,"[/b] Raven paused, taking another sip of tea. It was difficult to talk about such things, especially with the brief history that Zatanna and Raven shared. Placing the cup back down, the Titan continued. "I came here in the hope that you may have some knowledge that would be of use in making sure that Trigon does not claim me or gain enough strength to come through to this world. And if you do not, then to allow you to be aware that I may become a threat that should be dealt with."[/b] Raven finished. She would prefer if there was a way to avoid the situation and if she was did loose herself to her heritage, a way to turn her back. But the teenager did not fear death and her demon side claimed her, then Raven would rather she would be killed than let the demon have its fun.
