"Victory is MINE Baldy!
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Logan had black hair that he wears in a peculiar style. It's long and shaggy, but pushed back so it almost stands up. On either side of his head are two bumps in his hair that could almost be described as ear like. On his face, he has two thick mutton chops.
Eyes: His eyes are an icy blue and rounded in shape. They aren't very large, nor very small
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 195 lb no adimantium 300lb with adimantium
Distinguishing Marks: Logan houses a set of bone claws coated in adimantium in each forearm. His canine teeth are also pointed and sharper than a normal humans. Also, Logan has hair nearly everywhere on his body.
Appearance: Despite being only five-three, Logan's presence is very large and imposing. It can almost seem like he's taller than he is, but that illusion is quickly dispelled when he stands next to an average height man. He is overly muscular and in prime condition, his body honed from years of fighting. Though he is 123 years old, Logan looks like a man in his mid to late thirties. He's not the kind of person to smile without good reason and when he does, it can look quite sadistic.
Logan doesn't spend much time on how he looks. A quick comb through of his hair, a short shave, he's good. His clothing is causal, with either a wife beater tucked into his jeans or a plaid shirt. He always wears a belt, usually with a slightly decorative buckle. On his feet, he wears boots, either combat or cowboy. Logan tends to wear a set of dog tags with "Wolverine" printed on them. Sometimes, he wears a beat up old leather jacket and or a cowboy hat.

Personality: Logan is a very solitary man by nature, preferring to be off on his own than with a group of people. He has spent many years on his own traveling around on his own and has grown fond of it. Lengthy conversations about something of little interest or importance to him grate on his nerves, causing him to be wary of starting a conversation with someone. It usually takes a high level of interest if he's initiating first contact. If he does go around people, he tends to like to be around one to two at a time. Large groups are not his thing and he usually doesn't talk much in them unless his point needs to be heard.
When on teams, his loner persona shows itself when he is given orders he doesn't like. Instead of following them like he should, Logan often goes off on his own and carries out his own plan. It doesn't matter to him if it's not the exact one his leader wanted. Chances are, he's found a way that may work a little better. When a plan either coincides with his own or seems plausible to work, he will work with his team. Having a high respect for the leader also helps to keep him from wandering off on his own. He also tends to take long leaves from his teams for various personal reasons; most notably trying to find clues to his lost memories.
If Logan does engage someone in conversation, he likes to keep them from getting too close, leaving him with few he would call close friends. With his extensive first hand experiences with death, he knows how fragile the lives around him are and it's best not to get to attached, though this is easier said than done. He pushes people away, not telling them much about himself, or the little he knows about himself. Logan can also come across a little gruff and rude towards others. This is partially part of his need to keep people out and partially because of his temper.
It's quite obvious upon meeting the man that Logan's fuse is short and easily ignited. Though he has tried many times to control his anger, people can still cause him to seethe with simply a few words and the wrong kind of physical contact. His anger usually starts with verbal sparring where he tries to get the person to back off and leave him be. He throws in a few threats, maybe flaunting his claws as a warning. If the person does not back down, it can escalate to physical violence. On more than one occasion, his anger has turned into pure rage. This rage clouds his mind and takes away his rational thought, leaving him with simply killer instincts drawn from his more "animalistic" mind.
A part of his mind is primarily instinctual, allowing him to make snap decisions based on small clues his mind picks up from his surroundings. These decisions are made without any conscious thought and carried out without it as well. It saves him from having to logically think of the decision and from having his mind second guess it. This part of his mind is more at home in nature than it is in modern life. In nature, it is allowed to flourish more than it is in a concrete jungle. Given enough time relying on his instincts, Logan's rational thoughts will actually shut down for a time being.
After a long life of fighting and killing, Logan doesn't fear much. Most of his fears have been faced and conquered. Even if he does still fear something, he usually has faced it before, making another encounter easier. One of his fears is flying. He doesn't like flying in a plane or with any mutant with flight abilities. Logan is much more at home on the ground. Another is pain, something he encounters nearly every day. He doesn't like it, but can mentally build up the confidence to face things where he knows large amounts of pain will be endured.
Logan's largest fear is losing himself to the animal and no longer being a man. He is constantly battling his instinctual mind, trying hard to keep his rational mind from being over taken. He also sees himself as a living weapon, a dangerous combination when paired with his animal mind. There are many occasions where Logan almost convinces himself he is hardly even a man. The lines between human, living weapon, and animal seem to blur for him, making it hard to distinguish which he is more like and that scares him. He doesn't want to be a living weapon or just an animal .
Logan is surprisingly a very honorable man. If he gives his word, he will do everything in his power to carry his promise out, no matter what the promise is. He won't turn his back on a friend or respected person without a very good reason, at least not fully. Should he disagree with a friend or respected person, he may not side with them or carry out something they ask of them concerning the thing they disagree over. Once the disagreement is resolved, he will restore the relationship. His honor does not interfere with his ability to kill; save the utterly defenseless or children. He is quite willing to deal with his enemies permanently.
Over the years, Logan has met many women. Most come and go, never really catching his eye for long. A few, however, have caught his eye for longer than a few seconds. When he finds a woman of interest, it doesn't take long for strong feelings to bloom. He is not the kind of man who goes half way with a relationships. Logan doesn't "like" a woman, he loves her or he doesn't. This love can come in a romantic form, where he will actively pursue the woman unless it would cause more harm than good, or a non-romantic form, where he will act as a pseudo father towards young women.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers:
-Regenerative Healing Factor:[/b] Logan has the ability to regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue through his primary power of accelerated healing. He can replace these damaged or destroyed cells exponentially faster than a human can. Bones heal in hours, cuts and shallow wounds can take seconds. What his power is fully capable of is unknown, but he has survived damage that would have killed a normal person in seconds. He can stitch wounds back together or completely regenerate missing parts of his body. It would seem that the only part of his body that needs to remain intact is his brain and spinal chord so it can instruct the body to repair itself, though this is untested. The adamantium in his body actually affects his healing factor, forcing it to slow down because of it's secretion of a poison that the healing factor fights off constantly. His powers seem to be ongoing, though the more advanced his powers become, the more feral Logan becomes. The adamantium slows this process down.
-Foreign Chemical Immunity:[/b] Logan has a high invulerability to most drugs and poisons due to his healing factor. It takes high dosages for him to become affected.
-Immunity to Disease:[/b] Immune to all known Earthly diseases and infections, Logan is unable to get sick. His healing factor protects him and kills off all known pathogens.
-Delayed Aging:[/b] Logan's healing factor slows down his aging and gives him an extended life span. It's unknown how long he can actually live.
-Insulated Weather Adaption:[/b] Logan's body has a high resistance to particular extreme elemental conditions, especially the cold. He can even sleep nude in subarctic conditions and no be injured.
-Superhuman Strength:[/b] Because of his healing factor, Logan can push his muscles beyond natural limits without injury. This gives him superhuman strength, though only at a limit of two tons. Unlike a normal bone structure, Logan's adamantium skeleton helps his strength since it will not break under too much pressure.
-Superhuman Stamina:[/b] Lactic acid and other fatigue toxins created by muscles during physical activity can slow a person down. Logan, however, has a high immunity to this toxin, like the others his body fights. This allows him to remain at peak condition for several days. His lungs are also affected. They are at peak human condition (despite his constant smoking), giving him the ability to hold his breath for up to six minutes under water.
-Superhuman Agility:[/b] Logan's agility, balance, and bodily coordination are also enhanced beyond human limits, giving him the ability to jump high and far or dodge fast projectiles.
-Superhuman Reflexes:[/b] His reflexes are also enhanced past normal limits, making his movements fast and accurate. This is due to his superhuman senses.
-Superhumanly Acute Senses:[/b] The senses of sight, hearing, and smell are all greatly enhanced and quite like senses of certain animals. Logan's eyes allow him to see far clearly, even in near total darkness; his ears can pick up on sounds humans cannot even hear, even at great distances. His sense of smell allows him to recognize objects and people by the way they smell enabling him to track things for a long while in many kinds of conditions. He can also pick up on unusual variations, like chemical changes when a person lies.
-Bone Claws:[/b] In each of his forearms, Logan houses three claws made out of bone, currently covered in adamantium. These claws can be released in any number, cutting through the skin between his knuckles. The skin bleeds, but is quickly patched up by his healing factor. When unsheathing his claws, Logan must keep his wrists straight so they can slide from his forearms into his hands. Once unsheathed, he can move his wrists.
-Animal Empathy:[/b] Logan can sense the emotions of animals, but only on a basic level. He can sense emotions like fear, anger, happiness, or pain and can even partially communicate with them to make them aware of his actions and or intent.
-Psionic Resistance:[/b] Due to high level psionic shields implanted in his mind, Logan is highly resistant to telepaths.
Weapons
-Two sets of claws, one set housed in sheaths in each hand. They are bone covered in adamantium.
-Adamantium laced skeleton. This metal makes his bones virtually unbreakable and a very hard hit. It also seems to have bonded with his healing factor, allowing it to heal along with his bones should there ever be a way to break them.
Strengths/Abilities:
-Martial Arts: During his many years wandering the Earth, Logan has picked up a lot of the different martial arts from around the world, both in hand to hand combat and weapon combat.
-Stealth: For a 300lb man, Logan is very light on his feet and if he doesn't want you to know where he is, chances are, you won't. He's even able to sneak up on skittish creatures like deer.
-Covert Ops: Logan has been affiliated with many organizations and governments during his lifetime, leaving him with an extensive knowledge of weapons, vehicles, espionage, computer systems, and assassination techniques.
-Marksmanship: With his eyes having near perfect sight, it subsequently affects his aim, making it more accurate, even at far distances.
-Swordsmanship: Logan has been trained in Japanese swordsmanship. He can use most swords, but he tends to favor a Katana.
-Master Tactician: Through his years of experience fighting and his training from different government groups and organizations, Logan has developed a very advanced tactical mind. His actions may come across as brash and impulsive, but chances are Logan has already come up with at least two new plans while someone else rattled off orders.
-Multi-linugual: With all of his travel and time spent in different cultures, Logan has picked up on numerous languages, like Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Cheyeene, Spanish, Thai, French, and German at either a fluent or basic conversational level. He is also knowledgeable of many different cultures and their dos and don'ts.
-Skilled acrobat: Despite his bulky frame and high weight, Logan is actually skilled in gymnastics, acrobatics, and aerials. Though, he can't move as fluidly as highly trained acrobatics.
-Skilled Mechanic: Logan knows his way around engines and is capable of fixing something as complex as the X-Men's X-Jet. He tends to do his own repairs on his motorcycles.
-Feral Rage: When Logan becomes enraged, his mind becomes akin to that of an enraged animal. He is going to attack and going to kill as many threats as he can. This instinctual side to him can give him an advantage in fighting because he moves faster and is more brutish with his attacks, taking down more opponents.
Weaknesses:
-Muramasa Blade: A sword made with a piece of his very soul, this weapon could be the one current thing that could kill Logan. Permanently. The blade itself slows down his healing factor, making it more likely for a strike from it to be a deadly blow.
Women: Women will always be his downfall. He falls hard for them and usually pretty quickly, leaving himself very vulnerable if/when they are killed and taken from him.
-Adamantium poisoning: The adamantium in Logan's body is actually secreting chemicals that are poisonous to Logan. His healing factor is constantly battling this, leaving it slightly weaker than if he had no adamantium. It's not terribly noticeable. Without his healing factor, however, he would be dead.
-Adamantium Allotropes: Adamantium has thirteen different allotropes or variants that are unstable. These allotropes can cause Logan to become dizzy or weak when in close contact.
-Carbonadium Digestion: Carbonadium, a weaker, almost invulnerable metal, can affect Logan's healing factor if ingested.
-Damage to his spinal chord/Decapitation: This is a speculated method of killing Logan which, were it not for Logan's adamantium-laced skeleton, would be very, very likely. Without his brain telling his body to heal, he would remain dead.
Heightened Senses: Being so strong, his senses are highly sensitive and overwhelming them can cause disorientation at the least and possibly death at the most.
-Feral rage: Though his feral rage can give him an upper hand during a fight, Logan is not able to differentiate during the rages and can even hallucinate. When he comes out, he never knows who's blood is on his hands.

History: Born James Howlett, the man now known as The Wolverine was to Elizabeth Howlett on May 24, 1889 in Alberta, Canada. He was Elizabeth's second child, but not her husband, John Howlett. Instead, James' father was the groundskeeper of the Howlett estate; Thomas Logan. It is unknown if John knew of his wife's adultery or James' true parentage, though he did treat James like a son, suggesting he didn't know. James' older brother John Jr; possibly John's only real son, depending on how long the affair between Elisabeth and Thomas lasted; had died when the boy was a young child, leaving James as the only heir to the Howlett fortune.
As a child, James was incredibly weak and frail with many allergies. Rose O'Hara was brought in to take care of James and to help take care of them. Every chance James got, he was out on the estate grounds with rose and Thomas' other son "Dog" Logan. The three were close friends during childhood, but as Thomas was an abusive man and let his young son drink, Dog grew into a very unstable young man. To show his affection for the blossoming Rose, Dog tried to force himself on her and was angered when James told on him to John Sr. Dog ended up killing James' puppy in revenge. John Sr. yelled at Thomas for not being able to control his son and fired Thomas, sending both him and his son from the estate.
Drunk and enraged, Thomas returned to the estate with a shot gun and tried to take Elizabeth. When her husband tried to intervene to save his wife, Thomas shot him in the head just as James walked into the room. After witnessing his father's murder, the stress and anger caused James' mutation to manifest and he rushed at Thomas, stabbing him in the chest with a never before seen bout of ferocity. Elizabeth, already mentally unstable from the death of John Jr, shot and killed herself, unable to deal with the death of her husband and the bizarre powers her son displayed. Dog later told police it was Rose who killed the Howlett's and his father.
Rose helped James escape the estate and the pair ran off to the Yukon Territories. James took the name Logan and he and Rose pretended to be cousins to hide their identities. As he grew, his mutant powers began to manifest more, showing his healing factor and enhanced senses. Logan and Rose etched out a life of peace for themselves, and Logan eventually fell in love with Rose. However, due to their guise of being cousins, he couldn't act on his feels and gave her his blessing to marry a local man she fell for. It wasn't long before Dog found the pair, ruining their peace. He attacked Logan and the pair fought, resulting in Rose getting killed by Logan.
Forcing himself into exile, Logan spent many years roaming the wild with a pack of wolves. He roamed the Canadian country side, becoming more animal than man for a time. After a while, he rejoined society in America and enlisted as a soldier in World War I. It was there he began to smoke and drink heavily; a trait he still carries with him. He then served America for World War II and ended up remaining in Japan where he trained to be a samurai and temporarily bested his bestial nature. While he was there, the Muramasa blade was created; the only sword that could kill Logan. After accidentally killing some of the villagers due to an explosion sending him into a feral rage, Logan returned State side and joined the CIA.
The CIA trained Logan in espionage and deployed him as an agent. He quickly became a favorite of both the Canadian and American secret services. After a while, a CIA mutant Black Ops squad called Team X formed and Logan was placed on it. It was during this time, he was introduced to the Weapon X Project. He served with Team X for a while before being selected by Weapon X as the perfect specimen for their latest experiment. Logan was drugged with a powerful sedative and kidnapped.
Weapon X was trying to make the perfect living weapon to battle the rising mutant problems and needed Logan's healing factor so they could bind adamantium to his bones without killing him. Department K of the Canadian Defense Ministry had ties with Weapon X and agreed to preform the experiment. The experiment went off without a hitch. They bound his bones in the indestructible metal and began the process of reverting his mind back to an animal they could control. His memories were erased and they tried to tap into his feral mind to allow it to take over.
During the process, Logan awoke and broke out of the containment tank he was in, attacking those around him. He slaughtered everyone in his path and ran out of the base where he was being held. Logan had no memories besides the name Logan and the name Wolverine, which was printed on a set of dog tags he had around his neck. The next few months were spent wandering around Canada until he resurfaced as a cage fighter who lived out of a trailer on the back of his truck.
After leaving one bar he picks up a runaway who called herself Rogue, his truck is attacked and two X-Men come to his and the girl's aid. They are taken back to the school where the X-Men work and was invited to stay. Logan initially only stayed for the sake of Rogue and the promise of his memories until he met Jean Gray. He instantly fell for her, much to her partner, Scott's, dismay. This began the famed rivalry between the two. Logan ended up joining the X-Men to save Rogue and the global leaders from Magneto, the Brotherhood, and their plan to turn all humans into mutants and sacrifice Rogue in the process.
Seeking answers the Professor promised, Logan was pointed to Alberta, Canada where the was an old army base; the same one he escaped from years ago. The base seemed destroyed with nothing left behind. Logan searched for a bit before returning back to Professor to seek more answers. He was instantly roped into babysitting while the other X-Men went off on other missions. The school was attacked that night by William Striker's forces and he escaped with students Rogue, Bobby and John.
Some of the students had been captured by Striker as with the Professor and Scott, prompting the X-Men to team up with the Brotherhood, as Magneto knew Striker's plan. Striker wanted to use a reconstructed Cerebro to kill all the mutants by having the Professor concentrate hard on them. Striker's son, Jason, was used to trap the Professor in an illusion that tricked him into trying to kill all of the humans.
Logan was confronted by General William Striker who admitted to being apart of Weapon X and told him he knew who Logan had been. In exchange for his life, he offered Logan what he knew about him. Logan refused and returned to the X-Jet. Jean ended up sacrificing herself, leaving both Logan and Scott heartbroken. He ends up telling Scott that Jean chose him, not Logan. He then takes off again, this time not searching for his memories as much as simply going off on his own for a time.
When he is passing through later on, he once again gets caught up in the X-Men's battles. He is sent by the Professor back at Alkali lake, where Jean had sacrificed herself early. They find her uncontious and take her back to the Professor, who reviles that Jean has more power than anyone knew that manifested itself as a sentient entity and he locked it away for her protection. Logan is angry, but is saddend to find that this "Dark Phoenix" has changed Jean into a woman he no longer knew.
He still seeks her out, trying to bring Jean back to the forefront of her mind, following her to her old home where she kills Xavier and then to Magneto's camp where he is thrown out of the camp. Logan then joins the X-Men in trying to stop the war Magneto was starting. At the end of the fight, he tries once again to coax Jean into fighting her dark nature; much like he fights his own. He almost succeeds, but the soldiers who had been fighting alongside the X-Men open fire on Jean, bringing back the Dark Phoenix. To save everyone and at her request, Logan kills Jean.
Logan didn't stay with the X-Men, this time deciding he was leaving for good. He took off on his own for a while until he was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D and asked to join the Avengers. Logan eventually agreed, seeing no point in roaming around like a loaner fighting in bars anymore. It's a place to call home. For now.

Writing Sample:
Smoke filled his lungs as he drew in a breath. After holding his breath for a moment, he opened his mouth, letting the wispy white tendrils of the smoke escape. He should have gotten some sort of buzz that told him the nicotine was working, but it never came. The price of having such a powerful healing factor; he couldn't feel the buzz smoking was supposed to give him. Smoking just gave him a comfort. It was something he could trace back to the beginning of his memories, which was something very rare in his life.
Logan tapped the cigar with his finger, knocking the ash off the end and onto the pavement under his feet. Near by stood several other people trying to get their fix of nicotine outside the local bar of whatever town Logan had blown into this time. Most were men, but there was one woman surrounded by her friends smoking as well. All but Logan had a cigarette resting between their lips. Logan never understood the fascination with regular cigarettes; he never really liked them. He would smoke them in a pinch, but he much preferred the smell of a nice cigar. It was softer on his nose. They also burned longer, which was nice because he didn't have to constantly light new cigarettes.
It also meant he would be standing out in the cold longer. The cold winter of the northern US were not nearly as harsh as some of the winters he had experienced in Canada, but that didn't mean it wasn't cold in northern Maine during January. Most of the smokers were huddled together, trying hard to smoke quickly so they could get back inside. With Maine's ban on public smoking, smokers had been forced outside when they wanting a smoke. Still, even with the air being frigged, people were still outside, trying desperately to get their fix. He doubted that this would ever change if the smoking ban wasn't lifted.
Logan missed the days when he could sit at a bar and smoke while having a drink. The cold may not bother him like a regular man, but having to leave just to smoke was irritating. At least he could take his beer with him, so he had something to wash the smoke out of his mouth with. A while later he finished the cigar, mashing the end of it out on the stone wall of the building before pitching it into the garbage. Making his way back inside, Logan purchased another beer before grabbing one of the open pool tables. He still had an hour before the bar closed; he could squeeze in a couple of games.
