Cain "Juggernaut" Marko
I'm the Juggernaut! Ain't nothin' -- ain't nobody -- can beat me!
.....................................................................
Full Name: Cain Marko
Code Name: The Juggernaut
Age: ca. 82, but is locked in his physical prime by his power
Date of Birth: April 5th
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Species: Mutate (Mystically-Empowered Human)
Alliance: Cyttorak
Citizenship: Marvel, USA
Canon or Original?: Marvel Canon
"Victory is MINE Baldy!
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Red, but keeps his head shaved
Eyes: Blue, rounded, usually appear to be angry
Height: 9' 5"
Weight: 1,900 lbs
Distinguishing Marks: No significant defining features other than a superhumanly muscular build
Appearance:
Cain Marko was a burly, though not particularly awe-inspiring red-haired, blue-eyed man possessed of an irritable disposition. The Juggernaut, however, lives up to his name. Standing almost a foot taller than the Hulk and carrying another 750 lbs of muscle, the Juggernaut is a monstrous, intimidating figure. The Juggernaut is a hulking, top-heavy beast whose every movement carries crushing weight and unstoppable force, walking as if carrying or dragging an immense weight. He moves as though he suffers constant pain and can only find a release in destruction and violence.
The Juggernaut's "uniform" or "suit" is set and defined by that which empowers him - Cyttorak - and consists of entirely red clothing and armour. The true constants of his appearance are the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, which wrap the Juggernaut's fists and upper arms, and a large (and very useful) domed helmet which prevents psychic manipulation; does not usually wear "civvie clothes", and can summon his armour at will when he does.
One of the Juggernaut's less-spoken-of physical traits is the fact that, being self-sustaining, he does not breathe. In a world of air-breathing, living creatures, this can be quite unsettling to notice at first. Other minor appearance-related traits are his shaven head and a profound lack of scarring due to nigh-invulnerability and an advanced healing factor (otherwise the Juggernaut's entire epidermis would be mostly, if not all, scar tissue).

Likes:
- Destruction and Devastation - the Juggernaut is an unstoppable avatar of a destructive and malevolent Elder God. Destruction is akin to a religious service to him.
- Redemption - the Juggernaut's desire for redemption stems from Cain Marko himself - the Juggernaut has served with the X-Men and the Thunderbolts in his attempts at finding redemption, but historically, these attempts always fail.
- Money - it's been a while since he's worked as a professional thief or mercenary, but Cain has always had a thing for the great American Greenback. And it's certainly a bonus that his powers granted by Cyttorak work best when used for selfish or destructive purposes.
- Power - who wouldn't, if they had access to a bottomless well of power derived from a powerful Elder God?
- Being the baddest - the Juggernaut stood toe to toe with the Hulk at his most powerful and was only "defeated" when Brucie redirected him. He has been burned to no more than a skeleton with a helmet and kept moving forwards. He walked away from a full shot from Mjolnir, while Thor had absorbed his force field. Name anyone who has done the same. Got nothing? Thought so.
Dislikes:
- Charles Xavier - sibling rivalry, jealousy, failed redemption. Charles represents everything wrong with Cain and the Juggernaut. There is nothing but hate.
- Black Tom Cassidy - an old partner too far gone. Killed the Squid Boy. Was sure the Juggernaut couldn't turn over a new leaf. Was right.
- Failure - being unstoppable as the Juggernaut is a perfect allegory for Cain Marko's life - always running into walls. Destroying what he touches. And never stopping on that crooked road.
- The Raft - redemption be damned, no one likes being imprisoned.
- The Hulk - destructive. Unstoppable. Rage made manifest. But he gets to redeem himself, turn over a new leaf, almost constantly. What makes him different?
Personality:
In two words, the Juggernaut is angry, and bitter. Cain was always a problem child, constantly being expelled from schools and abusing his step-brother Charles. Fundamentally, though, Cain was a coward, even when empowered by Cyttorak. His first thoughts were for revenge on Charles, and as a thief, he spent his time hiding from heroes. In spite of this, or perhaps because of it, Cain is possessed of a hunger for redemption, attempting to side with the X-Men after having fought against them for so long, and later, Luke Cage's Thunderbolts, happily filling the role of the mandatory "Big Guy" on the superhero teams.
Since regaining his powers from a new Cyttorak, Cain resolved to embrace his nature as the earthly manifestation of the Elder God. His powers are at their peak when committing acts to further his own aims, and he simply decided to embrace a one-dimensional mindset geared towards utter destruction of whatever Cage pointed him towards.
For a while, it worked. But as always, the Juggernaut weighed heavily on Cain's mind and his relationship with the Thunderbolts frayed and disintegrated. Cain wasn't the only one with his hands on the steering wheel anymore, and his foot certainly wasn't on the gas pedal anymore.
The Juggernaut was back, feeding on Cain's bitterness and his anger, feeding on Cain's failed attempts at becoming a hero. Where Cain would hide from heroes, the Juggernaut turned its hand to callous destruction. No one would stop the Juggernaut. Who could? He can't even stop himself.
And he likes it.

Powers:
((OOC: Full credit to the Marvel Wikia and Database for comprehensive information for this section.))
- Avatar of Cytorrak - the Juggernaut possesses the conventional superhuman attributes of an Elder God. Cyttorak grants his godly body to his avatar, the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak then bonds to his avatar's soul and makes him a god by giving him this new body. However, this body is Cyttorak's original Elder God body instead of his degenerated demonic body, and so is superior to the body granted by the previous Cyttorak.
- Superhuman Strength - the Juggernaut's strength is described as virtually limitless, being endlessly supplied by Cyttorak and the Juggernaut has stated his strength easily rivals Thor's.
- Superhuman Stamina - Juggernaut's body generates no fatigue toxins during physical activity, granting him limitless superhuman stamina in all physical activities.
- Superhuman Speed - Despite his immense size, Juggernaut's superhumanly strong leg muscles allow him to run and move at speeds beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete. He can run at speeds of 110 miles per hour or more.
- Invulnerability - the Juggernaut is invulnerable to all forms of physical injury. His durability is potentially limitless. The Juggernaut's skin cannot be broken, and he is incapable of feeling pain, or sustaining any form of injury from any purely physical attack regardless of magnitude or intensity.
- Regenerative Healing Factor - despite his complete resistance to physical attack, the Juggernaut can be damaged by sufficiently powerful mystical forces. If damaged, he possesses a regenerative healing factor that enables him to completely regenerate with superhuman speed. Essentially as long as there is a molecule of Cain's body and a molecule of the power of the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak still upon him, and of course he is still the Exempler of the ruby, the Juggernaut will regain his full power and be completely healed.
- Self-Sustenance - the Juggernaut is completely self sustained, he has no need to breathe, eat, or drink at all. He cannot tire, hence he cannot sleep, however his self generating mystical energies provides him with the nourishment of sleep, nutrition, hydration, and oxygen. He is sustained by his mystical energies alone.
- Immortality - the Juggernaut is immortal. He is not a millisecond past his absolute physical prime, and is immune to aging. Nothing except perhaps total molecular disintegration, can kill him. The Juggernaut is also immune to all toxins, poisons, and disease.
- Force Field - the Juggernaut is capable of generating a personal force field around himself, extending to about 1 foot in diameter from his body. He uses this force field for many purposes, such as preventing physical contact, keeping debris and unwanted materials off himself, erecting his force field to escape piles of debris easier. Additionally, the force field can resist mystical attacks better then the Juggernaut could do alone, as it is energy created from his actual power. Mystical weapons that can hurt Cain have to penetrate his force field first making it even more useful, not to mention the force field being able to produce more energy to continually push out an intruder that has managed to break into his defences.
- Unstoppable - when the Juggernaut begins to advance in a certain direction, it is virtually impossible to halt his movement. Some obstacles such as many tons of rocks and plasma-discharge cannons have slowed his pace but can't completely halt him. The only known examples of him being stopped involve physical force with mystical involvement, which is Juggernaut's sole weakness.
Weapons Himself.
Strengths/Abilities:
- Hand-to-Hand Combat - due to his time in the military and experience fighting heroes and villains, the Juggernaut is a formidable opponent who applies his full strength to breaking the enemy.
- Armour - the Juggernaut can summon his armour and helmet at will - no need to run to phone booths.
- Superhuman Density - the Juggernaut's tissues and bones are 4 times denser than the human body, contributing to his superhuman weight and strength, to some extent.
Weaknesses:
- Magic - powerful mystical attacks that can overcome, negate or otherwise circumvent or defeat the Juggernaut's force field and armour are capable of damaging him, though the damage is rarely permanent.
- Telepathic Attacks - without his helmet, the Juggernaut is susceptible to powerful telepathic attacks.
- Cyttorak - if the Juggernaut does not use his powers for his own ends or for destruction, his aims are not in sync with Cyttorak's and allows him to only use a portion of his powers. This causes him to weaken from being a perfect god to merely an extremely enhanced human.

History:
Cain Marko was born to Dr. Kurt Marko, an atomic researcher, and Marjorie Marko. His parents separated, which led to Cain being sent to boarding schools, from which he was constantly expelled. His mother died when he was just three years old, and his father remarried Sharon Xavier after her husband (and Kurt's partner) died in an accident. Kurt preferred his intelligent, gentle step-son Charles to Cain, and this led to Cain abusing Charles and Kurt in turn beating Cain. Cain would later discover Charles' telepathic powers when Charles accidentally read his mind.
Shortly after Sharon died, Cain accidentally caused an explosion in his father's lab when he began throwing chemical jars during an argument; while Kurt managed to save Cain and Charles from the resultant fire, he died of smoke inhalation. Cain left home after losing a fight with Charles, beginning a foggy period of his life.
The brothers were eventually reunited in the same Army unit during the Korean War. Cain would eventually desert under fire, with Charles following him to bring him back to friendly lines. The pair happened upon the Temple of Cyttorak, where Cain impulsively grabbed a gem from an idol and read its inscription: "Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. Henceforth, you who read these words shall become forevermore a human juggernaut." - before his step-brother's eyes, the gem's power transformed Cain Marko into the Juggernaut.
As the events within the temple unfolded, a high explosive bombardment caused a cave in, destroying the structure. Charles managed to escape and return to his unit, while the Juggernaut was buried alive. However, as he no longer needed food, air, water or sleep, the Juggernaut eventually dug his way out from under the thousands of tons of rock with revenge on his mind. He attacked the Xavier Institute and was only defeated by the intervention of the Human Torch - the Torch melted the rivets holding his helmet in place, allowing the X-Men to remove it so that Charles Xavier could launch a psychic attack that left Juggernaut in a coma. The Juggernaut eventually escaped but was eventually trapped in the Crimson Cosmos.
The Juggernaut would later be released from the Crimson Cosmos, and was introduced to his partner-in-crime, Black Tom Cassidy. The pair attempted to set a trap for the X-Men at Cassidy Keep, but the Juggernaut was forced to withdraw to help Tom after he was knocked into the sea. The pair surfaced in Manhattan, where they attempted to kidnap Madame Web to use her psychic visions to defeat the X-Men. Juggernaut was defeated when Spiderman caused him to walk into a pit of wet concrete.
After escaping, Juggernaut once again joined Black Tom, occupying the local authorities with a rampage on Muir Island while Tom attempted to rob the Bank of Scotland. Juggernaut was defeated by the X-Men (again) and sent to Crossmoor prison, an ultramax facility in London. He escaped, overpowering Captain Britain in the process until he was defeated and recaptured by Excalibur.
Much later, Cain was stripped of his powers after a disagreement with Cyttorak, after which he reconciled with the X-Men and joined them. When Black Tom Cassidy resurfaced, Cain joined his new Brotherhood, intending to warn the X-Men. Unfortunately, Squidboy, a young mutant whom Cain had befriended, stumbled upon the meeting and was killed by Black Tom. Cain, in turn, attempted to kill Tom in retaliation.
Eventually, Cain was one of the X-Men who attempted to protect Charles Xavier from the Hulk when he returned from Sakaar as the Green Scar. Fully embracing the Juggernaut to match the Hulk's strength, Juggernaut battled the Hulk until their struggle threatened to destroy the Institute's foundations. The Hulk defeated Juggernaut by redirecting his momentum, removing him from battle long-enough to escape.
The Juggernaut abandoned the Institute, with a warning to Xavier not to send anyone to find him.
After the Siege of Asgard, Juggernaut was admitted to Luke Cage's Thunderbolts, but was chosen as one of the Serpent's "Worthy". He became Kuurth, Breaker of Stone and severely damaged the Raft during his escape, before attempting to attack San Francisco and Utopia. He defeated many of the X-Men until he was forced to withdraw by Colossus, who replaced him as Cyttorak's Juggernaut.
The Worthy were defeated by the Avengers at the ruins of Asgard, outside Broxton, Oklahoma, with Kuurth personally being defeated by Wolverine, and were later de-powered by Odin. Cain was returned to the Raft, where he was offered the Ruby of another Cyttorak by the Warden, and his spot on the Thunderbolts.
Grateful though Cain was for another shot at redemption, the Juggernaut had other plans.

Writing Sample:
There was nothing like the smell of gasoline and smoke in the cold night air. Some people said the smell of Napalm in the morning was better, but that was the kind of man who never really left the war, even when the war was over and he was back home in his own bed. Cain had grown to dislike it in his time with the Thunderbolts and the X-Men and his other pitiful attempts at being a hero.
But to the Juggernaut, there were few things sweeter.
Perhaps adding the coppery stench of blood? That might just do it, alright.
Cage, poor Cage, had told him to rein in, to stop.
"Marko!" the dim-witted bastard had shouted, "Marko, rein in! We've got this!"
How did he expect Marko to stop the Juggernaut? Not a force on earth could, much less that coward Cyttorak had chosen to be his avatar. He had the selfishness alright, but never had the brass pair Cyttorak had wanted in an avatar. But that was the "Malignant Interdimensional Entity" Cyttorak.
Cain was now dealing with the full power of an Elder God coursing through his veins. It was beautiful. It was intoxicating. But most importantly, it was overpowering. And just like Piotr Rasputin when he claimed the Gem of the old Cyttorak, Cain was having trouble swallowing this Juggernaut. He couldn't control it. After all, there was no stopping the Juggernaut. No defeating it.
The Juggernaut didn't even know who these Suit-and-Mask types were, but they were about to be on the wrong end of an unstoppable force.
It was time to get this party started.
"Don't you know who I am?" the Juggernaut rumbled, the hot concrete cracking under his feet as he approached, his hands flexing with barely-contained wrath.
There was nothing like the smell of smoke and gasoline, and blood, in the cold night air. Cage would not be happy. Cain probably wasn't happy. But what did the Juggernaut care? They couldn't stop him.
He couldn't even stop himself.
