Personality: Susan Storm is a woman who was forced to grow up at a very young age. The death of her mother and imprisonment of her father changed everything in her life, and though she worked hard at keeping a light heart and a sense of humor, she tended to slip into that “no nonsense” mentality more often than others would like. Her brother does help with this – always after her about being much too serious. Though she has seen that she cannot always control the circumstances that life hands her, Johnny tries to teach her that attitude can make all the difference in the world.
Susan’s love and loyalty for family is very evident. Her brother is her closest confidant, though most of the time she feels responsible for his actions and well-being. Her life has been spent being more of a mother to him than a sister – and while she works hard now to remedy that, at times she still feels the need to look out for him. This trait tends to lace itself throughout the rest of her personality as well. She feels as though all of the world’s problems rest on her shoulders. Susan has a hard time sharing that burden with others, and with letting others help her.
Her idea of a "real life" is not the one that they now lead and bitterness is creeping into her emotions. Though always quiet and reserved, she has taken more to long bouts of solitude, locked away with her research. Her fear has returned and she longs to throw away her powers. In her mind's eye, they are a curse and not a blessing. They are what got them all involved in all that has happened.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers: INVISIBILITY - Susan, like her brother Johnny, received her powers after being exposed to a cosmic storm. Her primary ability is the manipulating of light rays, rendering her invisible. She can create the same effect for others or objects that she is in contact with. Cosmic energy interacts with the cells of her entire body in such a way as to produce a new form of energy with unusual properties. By a simple act of concentration, she can cause all wavelengths of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light to bend around her without distortion. An observer, unaware of the peculiar path light takes around her body, would have the sensation of seeing through her. Susan can also mentally project the invisible energy produced within the cells of her body in order to render other people or objects invisible. The largest volume she can turn invisible at a single time is approximately equivalent to a small swimming pool. She has sufficient control over her power that she can turn parts of her body selectively invisible. Her power, however, is not limitless and will drain on her mental energy. The effects can only last as long as her concentration - the longest incident being approximately two and a half hours.
INVISIBLE SHIELDS - Able to project fields of invisible psionic energy, Susan is handy to have around in a tight spot. This allows her to protect herself and others, while also offering a variety of offensive tactics. She can manipulate this energy in order to move objects a short distance, or project a shield around those nearby.

Strengths/Abilities:
- Strong of Mind
- Even Tempered
- Logic/Common Sense
Weaknesses:
CONTROL - Sue has a very definite need to be in control. If she does not have a firm grasp on the situation around her, she feels weak and incompetent. Perhaps it’s due to a past of looking out for others, especially her brother, but she needs to know what is happening at all times.
INCOMPETENCE – More often than not, life has a way of throwing us situations that can be nothing but “out of our control.” Susan has a lot of doubts about what she is capable of and how truly powerful she really is. Though her mind is very keen and sharp, she often feels like she will miss something or cause a grave mistake.
BITTERNESS - After the events which took place at the hands of Osborne, Susan retreated inside herself, stashing away her feelings. Her powers are an unwelcome gift that cause their involvement and her brother's injuries. Though masked well with false smiles, it drags down her outlook on life and her willingness to become the person the team believes she can be.

History: Susan Storm was born into a small family – a quiet family. Her brother Johnny, not much younger than she, was a typical brother, and her parents were as normal as the day is long. Their mother’s death devastated the family, rocking their very foundations. Sue, just a child at the time, was forced to mature into an adult practically overnight. The care of the household and of Johnny was left in her lap as their father took to drinking. Though her brother tried hard to please her and to make Sue’s life as easy as possible, the responsibility weighed heavy on her heart.
The arrest of their father for murder seemed the last straw in Susan’s opinion. Their quaint family had been ripped to shreds and now she was supposed to be responsible for putting it back together again. These were some dark days in Susan’s life, and though she tried to keep her bitterness hidden from the optimistic outlook of her brother, her personality suffered. Unable to face the reality that the world could be so unfair, Susan threw herself into her studies and her books. Formulas, scientific methods, and mathematical problems were things she could make sense of. And that was something she craved. She shut her mind to any news of her father and vowed to Johnny that he would not bring hurt to their lives again. To this day she does not know what became of Franklin Storm - whether he is living or dead. It does not weigh on her mind. How could a father so easily betray his children?
When their Aunt Alison took them in, Sue’s burden got a bit lighter. She was no longer the sole provider for the family, and she was able to devote more of her time to things she enjoyed. Her aunt suggested that she take up Tae Kwon Do, and Sue obliged. It wasn’t something she had ever pictured herself being involved in, but she supposed it may come in handy someday. Especially since she planned to never be dependent on anyone but herself.
Not long after high school, Susan was introduced to scientist Reed Richards, whom her aunt thought would give Susan an acquaintance to broaden her goals. They spent much of their time together, and though Johnny’s protective instincts pitted him against Reed, Susan hoped to soon win him over. Her first opportunity to join the two men was a scientific experimental journey. She easily convinced Reed to allow Johnny to accompany them on the journey, and she knew Johnny would jump at the chance. All was well and fascinating, until they were hit by a solar flare. Their crash landing back to the earth would be the least of their worries soon.
Being separated from Johnny for a time had been hard on Susan. The two had been together since they were just small children, and they depended on each other. She worked hard to convince herself that her brother would be alright without her as she continued her studies and he returned home to live with their aunt. It was also during this time that strange happenings began to manifest themselves in her, and in Reed. It took some time and some crazy mishaps before they discovered that they were gifted and what exactly their gifts were. A call from Johnny confirmed their deductions that the solar flare had caused their mutations. Susan was terrified. This was something that was out of her control, and she had no idea how to rise to the challenge. Enduring many breakdowns, Reed worked with her for hours on end until they both became very adept at honing in on their skills. Over the next few years Johnny, Susan, Reed, and Ben Grimm (The Thing) made up the Fantastic Four. The group’s research and technology advance quickly. The group's quality minds helped them to develop their understanding of each other and to create products designed specifically for their own skill sets.
Susan and Reed shared an apartment near to their research lab, and while many rumors had spread of their engagement and wedding, the two had never actually married. Whether from her fear of dependency or her lack of true feelings for Reed, she was never quite certain – though the two remain faithful friends.
Though time moved on, something restless began to grow inside of Susan's heart. Perhaps, it was the stark realization of the fact that their lives would never be the same. Maybe it was all that she had seen and been forced to become a part of. There was always the possibility of running - always the reality of the world looking on, entertained by the freak show.
Susan tucked these feelings deep within herself. Though the rest of the team seemed bent on building their abilities, she longed to hide them away. Try as she might, happiness eluded her. An occasional laugh here and there at Johnny's misplaced jokes kept their questions at bay, and she carries on with life - or rather, it carries on with her.
Although she’s fairly certain Johnny would do well to be on his own, Susan and Reed are fine with keeping him around. Johnny’s sense of humor and brotherly love are the things that motivate her the most. Perhaps one day the will be the things bringing her back to the lighthearted person she once was – ages before the darkness.

The heels of Susan’s boots echoed in the lab as she took each slow step back and forth. Her dark framed glasses had been swept from her face, and she now held them, tapping one earpiece against her chin as she stared into nowhere. On an average night, she would have been in bed by now. Actually, she would have been in bed about three hours ago. Instead tonight she was here. Pacing the lab like someone with all the world’s weight on their shoulders.
Susan felt that way at times. Like the whole of mankind depended on her. It was a silly notion, she told herself, but one that she couldn’t always keep repressed. She knew her brother was nearly recovered, and Reed was safely asleep a few rooms away. So why was she here?
Something nagged at the back of Susan’s mind this night. Some problem that begged to be solved, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was. Gently, she tossed her glasses onto the desk beside her and headed for the door. This pacing was getting her nowhere. As she entered the hallway, her gaze flitted to the window, and she saw that the full moon had already made its climb above the top of the building adjacent. She could hear the soft hum of the traffic and street life below as she made her way toward the next door. It was cracked ever so slightly, but the inside was dark. Reed’s room.
Susan lifted one hand and ever so quietly eased the door open. She swiped her hair back behind her ear and looked into the darkness. He slept soundly. Susan could even hear his breathing as she leaned back into the hallway. She knew that if she woke him, he would invite her in. She probably would have even accepted his offer, but with a silence she barely knew she possessed, Susan pulled the door closed and turned her steps in the opposite direction.
As she headed back toward the lab, she folded her arms across her chest. Sleep would elude her tonight, so she might as well spend her time profitably. Susan retrieved her glasses from where she’d deposited them, and slid them back onto her face. She sat down gently in the swivel chair and touched the screen of the computer. It had hardly come back to life before Susan was lost in its depth and the schematics it presented her. Yes, tonight something would be accomplished.
