Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Iris decided on a whim to take a weekend trip to Gotham City. Why? Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time. She spent a lot of time in New York, and after a while seeing the same old things got boring. She wanted a change of scenery, and so had decided to go to Gotham for a different sight. It honestly felt like she had taken a picture of pretty much everything by the school now, and hopefully this wouldn’t feel too much like the city she was used to. Though, really, it was a city so how different could they possibly be? Honestly, Iris saw things a little differently than most. For her it was more about sound than the buildings, streets and sights. The sounds she saw in the form of colorful shapes or blobs were what made one place different from another for her. Actually, she could probably tell you where she was around the school just by what sounds she was hearing. It tended to be how she remembered people too actually. Whatever color their voice was, would be how she mentally noted who they were. This certainly made it easy for the girl to know who someone was before she turned around if they were trying to get her attention. Actually, it was to the point where she could pick out a familiar color in a crowd if she wanted to. Rarely did she ever want to though because going into a crowd was about the same as getting assaulted by a rainbow. That may sound fun, but it did make it quite hard to see at times with all the overlapping shapes and colors.
Anyway, she made it to the city, found her hotel, checked in, and started wandering around the town. By this point it was already evening, and the sun was setting over the city. Sure cities were probably dangerous at night, but she was still in a relatively populated area and so wasn’t worried about getting grabbed by some weirdo in an alley just yet. The girl would probably begin to worry about such in another few hours when people tended to vanish off the streets to the indoors for the most part. She preferred being out at this time, because it was after the rush from work and during dinner time so there were considerably less people wandering about. It made it easier for her to wander freely without things getting too loud. Sure, there were still loud sounds that she wasn’t a fan of, but they weren’t overwhelming to the point where she looked insane in the middle of the sidewalk.
Despite the fact she had been watching where she was going; someone else obviously hadn’t and ran straight into her. After they both fell over, she discovered that her vision was actually quite colorful all of a sudden. There was a store alarm going off and it was a robber that had just ran straight into her. When they got up to run again she managed to grab an ankle and turn the robber the most neon shade of rainbow she could manage. Hey, he’d be easy to spot, and probably find it pretty hard to hide right at the moment. It also managed to trip him up again for the moment, and so it bought a little time. Hopefully it was enough to make a difference. Naturally though, she suddenly could hear him cursing at her and making threats while waving a knife in her general direction. ”Well next time, watch where you’re going if you’re going to rob a store?” she said holding her hands up and trying to scoot away as quickly as possible. The girl could really use one of the heroes who were hopefully wandering about right now, or just a helpful citizen, but she would rather it be someone who was far less likely to get hurt help out.

Ah, Gotham City. The City That Never Slept Because It Was Afraid Someone Would Steal Its Wallet (trademark). Richard had come here in search of adventure and excitement. What he found was quite the opposite. Verily, he had almost been mugged before he even reached the hotel. Key word being almost. Richard was glad the mugger was a fast runner. He would have hated to put the man on the receiving end of the Nova Force. Would have melted the poor man's skin from its bones, and he didn't really want to do that. He only did that to the really nasty criminals from space. Ones that wanted to invade Earth and make mortal men their slaves. Now that was more his crowd.
As Richard rounded the corner, he could hear voices. They sounded shouty. It was probably a crime in progress. Richard knew there was a lot of crime in Gotham, but wasn't really expecting it right now. Didn't it mostly happen at night when that other vigilante was out? What was he called again? Man-Bat or something? He didn't know. What he did know was there was a crime in progress, and he seemed to be the only superhero in range. If he was going to stop this crime, he might as well do it in style. He ducked into an alley and, when he was absolutely positive no-one was looking, he said "WorldMind, Activate Uniform!" He was so tempted to throw his arm up in the air or do some karate posing as he said that, but he didn't.
The Nova Force swirled around him, covering the simple civilian clothing with something much more superheroically acceptable. Instead, of walking, he flew to the crime scene and landed behind the knife-waving rainbow criminal, clearing his throat to make himself known. "I kindly request you leave this young woman alone, um....I don't know who you are. Trippy the Magnificent?"

Well, she had kind of gotten herself into a predicament now hadn’t she? Though this wasn’t unusual, it was a little problematic. Obviously she didn’t exactly want to get stabbed or something. This was supposed to be a vacation, and she did not particularly want to spend it getting stitched up at a hospital and questioned by police about what happened. Granted the guy would be pretty easy to find right about now, but still that wasn’t the point. It was about avoiding such a situation that she was put in because someone couldn’t watch where they were going after robbing a store. One would think that would be common knowledge. After all, even if there weren’t a ton of people on the streets, there were still people and expecting nobody to be around was poor planning. She was still trying to scoot back when she saw someone fly down behind the robber.
When someone in a costume showed up she wasn’t sure whether to be relieved or worried. After all, it could just as easily be a villain as it could be a hero. Though it seemed he was requesting that she was to be left alone, and questioned if he was Trippy the Magnificent or something. She giggled slightly and got a glare from the robber who actually seemed to just now catch on that even his skin was neon rainbow. ”Actually…I think he’s just a random robber. He didn’t watch where he was going and ran into me. I just wanted to make sure he was easily visible and not hard to track down.” she said with a light smile. Yes, that did reveal that she was a mutant, or had power s of some sort that she had used, but it wasn’t a big deal. People should be used to that kind of thing by now. It would seem that she wasn’t being paid attention to by the robber anymore, seeing as someone much more intimidating than a slightly tiny girl with green hair had showed up. The girl was very much aware that she wasn’t intimidating in the slightest, so it really wasn’t a surprise he was now confronting the person in a superhero uniform. Thus she took the opportunity to kick him in the back of the knee. ”That, was for waving a knife at me. Ass.” she said with a slight frown before standing up and brushing herself off.

"Huh. Well that's no fun." Richard said, a little bemused. He'd hoped to be taking on some big super-villain. Gotham had a lot of those. They shouldn't be too hard to find. Nope. In this case it was just another common crook with more ammo than sense. Richard may, in that moment, have just been one of the few, if not the only, super-powered beings who didn't care about the common crook. He was generally more used to tackling big cosmic baddies like Thanos or Annihilus, not Reading Rainbow Man here. LeVar Burton would be ashamed of this guy. Ah well, he was here. Might as well deal with him, seeing as he had nothing better to do.
He grabbed the robber's knife and held it tight in his gloved hand. Discreetly, he channeled some Nova Force into the bladed weapon. At once, it began to melt in his hand. Richard didn't pay the burning metal much heed. His suit was resistant to the heat of the sun. A little tiny burn like this was nothing. Once Richard was satisfied that the knife had been melted down to as melted as it could be, he dropped the resultant molten mass at the robber's feet. He certainly hoped that the crook got the message. If not, he could melt some of the metal on his clothing. To be fair, that was pretty vicious. Richard had been spending too much time around space barbarians.

Iris tilted her head and gave a slightly confused look when he said that was no fun. ”Is it supposed to be fun? I was under the impression heroes made it their job to stop criminals because it was the right thing to do…not because it was fun.” she pondered simply. That was what heroes did right? They did it for the fact that it was the right thing to do, not because beating up super villains was particularly fun. Though, she did imagine that for some it could be. She didn’t think that a hero should really enjoy beating anyone up even if they were bad. Did it make you better than them somehow? You only beat bad people, but you’re hurting them, and them enjoying the torture or misfortune of others was what made a hero want to stop them. Was the fact that someone got a kick out of such wrong, or was it justified? She really wasn’t sure, but honestly she didn’t think it made them any better than a villain in that respect. Sure, they were technically ‘doing the right thing’ but in a way was it really the right thing? Stopping crimes was the right thing to do, but how you went about stopping it should factor in too.
Iris was then distracted from her thoughts by the fact that he was literally melting a knife in his hand. That was, strange, but probably fairly effective. Seeing as the guy fainted onto the sidewalk not a moment later. One would think people would get used to this type of thing happening now that there were far more heroes and such wandering about, but maybe it was his first crime or something. ”Er…should I turn him back to his normal color, or leave him as a rainbow for the rest of his life?” she pondered simply. It would probably be considered rude to leave him rainbow, after all it wasn’t as if it was going to come off ever. Though so was bumping into people and not apologizing. Not quite as rude though, and so she decided that she really should probably remove the rainbow. Besides, she liked having extra color handy for when she needed it. The girl hadn’t had to blind anyone this time, but one never knew when such an occasion could happen. It was always best to be prepared for if you got into some sort of life threatening trouble. Thus she reached over and the neon rainbow retreated back to nonexistence, or well it did exist you just couldn’t see it. ”Thanks, by the way.” she said with a smile at the costumed hero who had technically just saved her.

"That may be so." Richard said as a counter argument. "But doing this, stopping criminals and all, is kind of my day job, and you know what they say about liking your day job. He knew perfectly well what they said about liking one's day job. At first, he hadn't particularly warmed up to the idea of going out into space to fight some of the more dangerous galactic criminals that ever were. In fact, he'd almost outright refused to go. He would have done, too, were it not for the fact that he felt he owed it to the late Rhomman Dey to join up with the Corps. Looking back, Richard wondered where he would be if he had refused the offer. Probably a lot worse off than he was now.
"I say leave him as a walking rainbow." he said. "It'll make it easier for the police to identify him, if he gets out." That, and it was pretty funny, just leaving him there. He repressed a desire to laugh out of duty. Catching criminals, after all, was no laughing matter. Except when they looked like this one. There was just something about him that made Richard break into semi-controllable giggles There was just something about him that made Richard want to bust a gut laughing. It was probably the rainbow effect. It was very curious how he had ended up that way. He couldn't help but wonder if the civilian standing before him now was responsible. "So, uh, just curious. How did he get all rainbowed?"

Iris looked at him when he gave a counter argument and gave a little shrug. ”I suppose. Most heroes have a day job other than stopping criminals though don’t they?” she asked pondering it for another moment. She certainly didn’t consider stopping criminals her day job that was for sure. Granted, she wasn’t very good at stopping them to begin with so she probably couldn’t ever consider it her day job. The mutant could help though, so at least it was something. It just wasn’t the most heroic thing; it was more the sidekick type of thing. Distractions she could do, changing colors to make someone obvious to cops was another thing she could do. The girl could fight a little, but she needed to learn more. She definitely made a mental note to ask someone to help her out with that. After all, the more she could help the better she would feel about it. Her powers may not be much help, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t do something herself. Relying solely on one’s powers was probably not the best idea anyway. It was a weakness to rely only on one set of abilities rather than trying to round yourself out a little better. Though if you had one set of really good abilities rather than multiple sets of somewhat lame abilities it probably worked out much better.
Hearing his statement she pondered it for a moment. ”I’m not nearly as rude as he is though.” she stated with a slight frown. ”Besides, maybe he’ll straighten out now.” she said simply. After all, if a hero terrified you shouldn’t it be that you no longer wanted to commit crimes in fear of them? It would seem though, that the hero was getting great amusement over the fact that the guy was rainbow to begin with. Though then she was asked how he got rainbowed in the first place. ”I told you, I turned him rainbow.” she said with a shrug. ”I’m a mutant, it’s my power.” she explained simply while taking most of the rainbow back. He still had a slight rainbow tint to him in some places that would make him stand out, but it wasn’t immediately neon at least. She probably would have felt bad about leaving him like that even if he was a jerk. The mutant was just a nice person and even if a person did bad things they deserved somewhat of a chance to make up for it she thought.

“Fortunately, stopping criminals is my day job.” Richard said with another broad grin. “I’m a cop, see. Well, space cop, if you wanna get into the gritty of the job, but a cop nonetheless.” He really wanted to do this awesome monologue he’d once heard another Nova Centurion say to inspire a population. Zipping through the star seas, seeking out the worst that the galaxy has to offer, and then taking them in for proper justice, at the hands of official intergalactic officials! The Nova Corps stand ready to aid any civilization, fight any evil, do anything they can to prevent the forces of evil from getting a foothold anywhere in space!
…..but Richard had the feeling that this woman wasn’t exactly that interested in what he had to say about where he worked. Right now they were in an awkward situation. A space cop and a mutant had just left a slightly rainbow-coloured criminal in a street. That should really be the start of a joke. All they needed to do next was go into a bar... hey, that wasn’t a bad idea, now that he thought of it. Beating criminals was thirsty work, after all. Just ask any superhero. “Hey, you wanna get a drink or a meal or something? Beating up criminals gets me in the drinking mood.” he asked, hoping that she didn’t make the mistake of thinking he was hitting on her, even though she was actually kind of cute. That would be a disaster. “I’m Nova, by the way. What’s your name?”

Someone really couldn’t blame Iris for not realizing the guy was apparently some sort of law enforcement, in space. First of all she hadn’t even realized those existed, and second, he looked more like one would expect of a super hero rather than a cop. ”What’s it like being a space cop?” she asked him simply. She was kind of curious after all as to what that would be like compared to being a normal cop. Other than the obvious of it simply being in space…if he stated that she may have to give him an incredulous look. Or state that he was captain obvious. Either way, she was hoping he would say something other than that at least. Though she didn’t particularly need every single detail either, just a short description or so about what space was like maybe, or if he got to see anything really interesting while on the job. She imagined he would, there had to be a need for them if there were space cops after all. The girl wondered idly how many different planets he had been to, and what they were like. Maybe she would get the chance to ask him at some point, but maybe she wouldn’t. It was entirely possible that he would just leave to go find some other non-rainbow criminal in Gotham.
Hearing the question she pondered it a minute. Sure, she was kind of hungry and a drink would probably not be a terrible idea either. ”Sure, but where? I’m not from around here so I don’t know where anything is.” she said simply. The girl had been planning on going back to the hotel by backtracking and then possibly eating there since they usually tended to have restaurants attached to them. Though she also assumed there were places probably somewhere close by. Maybe he would know better than her, though it was hard to say. Was he even from Earth if he was a space police? He looked human, but maybe looks were a little deceiving at times. Then he asked her name and she gave him a light smile. Which name should she give him? It did seem a little pointless to have a secret identity when you had neon colored hair, but at the same time should she really give out her real name as a mutant wandering about? They weren’t exactly always well received after all. The mutant might as well go with her code name then. ”I’m Prism.” she said simply.
