Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

The Contingency Plan (Raven)

Post by Wally "Young Flash" West on Mar 21, 2013 16:08:25 GMT -5
Wally was a bit worried. Raven had wanted to talk to him privately at Titans Tower. They were old friends. But they didn’t usually do that. Usually, if Raven had something to talk about they would talk with all of the Teen Titans and Titans. Wally had started calling himself Titan without the ‘Teen’ part of it. He was twenty-six. Well . . . in this time line he was twenty-one, but that was beside the point. Even twenty-one was a bit old to call yourself a teenager. Wally was currently sitting in Titans Tower with a pizza in front of him and three empty pizza’s and an empty KFC family size bucket next to him. He had been eating. It helped calm his nerves and if he was going to be stopping and talking for a bit it served as his recharge for when he went out crime fighting again. He always had to be careful about not eating enough.
He could not help but wonder why Raven wanted to talk to him. He wondered if he had done a good enough job covering up his emotions. It was really hard. Everything he went through . . . all the pain . . . all the horrible things that happened there. After he had rebuilt himself and everything too. It was hard to keep it all in. Most of the time when he had alone time at home he just looked at pictures. It was a bit torturous to be honest . . . but at the same time it made him feel a bit better. But he wasn’t ready to talk about it. Not yet. He couldn’t. Maybe one day . . . but it was too painful.
Wally was eating at a normal speed now. He had eaten the other things at super speed. He was on the first slice of the last box of pizza. He had to leave some for Raven after all. Raven was his oldest friend left on the team. Wally had been a founding member of all of the main branches of the Teen Titans so far. HE had only recently met Static, Supergirl and Darkhawk. He hadn’t seen Robin in quite some time. There was Speedy who he knew for quite some time, but not nearly as long as some of the others. He wished the others would have come back. He could still remember the day that he, Garth and Dick had founded the Teen Titans. Soon after that Speedy and Wondergirl had joined their ranks. Now Dick was Nightwing and taken on crime in both Gotham and Bludhaven. Wondergirl was Troia now and Roy, whom he hadn’t seen longer than any of the others, was retired. And Garth . . . well . . . he’d rather not think about Garth. It felt weird thinking about the directions they all took. What happened to each of them. He wished they’d all of kept more in touch. But they didn’t have super speed. Which meant that unlike him they did not have all the time in the world.
Something took his mind off of pizza and reminisce. It was footsteps. Someone was coming. He wondered if it was Raven. It probably was. He couldn’t think of anyone else that would be there. All the other Teen Titans were all out fighting crime and villains and what not. “Raven? Is that you,” Wally inquired a bit loudly.

But all Raven wanted was to be apart from her biological family and with the Titans, those she viewed as her family despite the fact that she tried not to allow emotions to cloud her mind. Those emotions played another worry to the dark teenager. Within the past few months they had been increasing within her. First, they had been logical emotional responses to situations that usually brought around emotions. That had been a worry. But now as the seconds went by, they increased. Worry about the future, fear of what she may do, sadness about the situation. But there was nothing she could do.
As soon as she had realised that emotions were appearing within her, Raven had sought magical help from both Doctor Fate and Zatanna. Powerful magical sources. Those who Raven had thought would be able to help. Neither had a solution. It was because of this that she had contacted her oldest and arguably closest friend. Wally. Out of all the Titans that were together, he was the only one who had been around when she had given out the mystical artefacts that were capable of killing her. The others were all new members and did not know of her darker side, had not faced Pride.
A lone tear ran down Raven's cheek as she blinked to dispel the emotions that had been gathering within her. With almost distaste, Raven noted how a small part of her revelled in the feeling of salt water sliding down her cheek, the emotions that were slowly building up in her. At times, the half-demon almost envied the others for feeling, knowing that she could never feel like they could, that she could never live so freely. If she felt, it meant one thing. Preparation for when her father would try to take over the Earth. Her home.
Raising a gloved hand to brush the water off her face, the teenager walked out of her room, taking her time as she headed towards Wally. It was going to be difficult to talk about this and ask him to be prepared to kill her but it had to be done. Pride would not be a force for good - Raven knew her mind too well. Approaching the main room, the dark Titan caught the scent of pizza and wondered if Wally had left any. Her stomach felt nervous, despite her best attempts to keep all emotion at bay. “Raven? Is that you,” Entering the room, Raven looked towards Wally's emotional signature and the source of the sound. "Yes," She replied, walking towards the speedster until he was within view. "I'm glad that you could make it although I'm afraid I have something important to discuss although I would rather have a friendly catch up."[/style]

Wally looked at Raven as she came in. It was strange. He could swear she looked . . . as if she had been feeling emotions. He didn’t know why the way she looked made him think that. It was just not the usual emotionlessness she emitted. He had grown so accustomed to seeing that expressionless face that he could tell when it was the slightest bit different. And it was different. Ever so slightly. But he could tell. He wondered what it was. He hoped it wasn’t the emotion stuff like so long ago. He still remembered the last time Pride had come out. It wasn’t pretty. And Raven grew an extra set of eyes. Which frankly wasn’t very pretty either. Wally liked girls with only one set of eyes better.
Wally really hoped that it wasn’t anything to do with Pride. He really, really hoped. He had lost too many people. Much too many. An entire world as a matter of fact. A wife. Kids. Friends. Family. He didn’t want to have to hurt, maim or kill Raven. She was one of his oldest friends. Plus Trigon didn’t exactly paint a pretty picture for a world. No pretty at all. Wally, even though he didn’t want to talk about it, really hoped that Raven had called him there to talk about his own emotions. He hoped that he had accidentally let some of his emotions loose and she felt it. That, even though how much it hurt, would be infinitely less painful that the Pride explanation.
Wally looked at her with a pleading face as if saying not that. He had his mask pulled back like a hood already showing his entire head. Pizza,” Wally offered in the best non-worried voice he could muster up. He needed to be supportive about this. He had to try to not freak out or anything of the sort. The last thing she needed to deal with were his emotions. Especially if she was having trouble with her own emotions. “So uh . . . what’s up? How have you been?” He was trying his best not to push this. She could say it when she felt she could if it was hard. She had said she'd rather have a friendly catch up. So he'd include that a bit too. He couldn't exactly catch her up on everything about him. There was just . . . too much. And if she was really having trouble with emotions . . . the ones that he was packing in were sure as hell not going to help her. All the pain, sorrow, anger. Anger at himself more than anyone else. Sorrow and pain over the loss of everyone there he cared about. What had happened was his biggest failure. And it would always be.

Without thinking, the Titan sensed and judged the emotions of the of Wally, trying to find out what he was thinking, whether he was aware of the situation. It was going to be hard to bring up and part of Raven wished that he would ask her what this was about, make some sort of prompt or something like that. "Pizza,” Looking up at Wally's pleading face, Raven felt worry underneath the calm emotions and she thought that he might know the reason. Or maybe it was something else, it was leaping to conclusions to think that he had puzzled out the truth. Maybe there were things he didn't want to talk about and wanted Raven to not bring up.
Taking a slice of pizza, the Titan delicately took a bite. Eating did help to calm the nerves as she could try to concentrate on eating carefully. "Thank you. I didn't expect you to have much, if anything left." |
[/b] Raven commented as she looked around at the empty pizza boxes around her. It looked like the older Titan had been getting a lot of food anyway. “So uh . . . what’s up? How have you been?” Finishing her slice of pizza, Raven looked over at Wally, grateful that he was starting off a mre casual conversation. "I've been better but I've also been worse. I cannot deny that the presence of the Teen Titans have been beneficial."[/b] Raven commented, remembering that she had been concerned that her emotional outbursts were possibly because she had been by herself for too long. It appeared that had been a factor, but only a small one. "But what about you? How have you been keeping?"[/b] Raven asked, keen to keep up the conversation. It gave her more time to think about how she was going to bring up the difficult issue of her emotions and the possibility that Wally may have to kill her. Breaking this news would be one of the trickiest things that she would have to do.[/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: None notes: None. The suspension was killing Wally. He liked things fast paced. He was face paced. And he had super charged brain activity. Everything seemed painstakingly slow most of the time. This was just plain torture. Waiting to hear whatever news it was. If she had felt his emotions. If her emotions where getting harder to control. Wally smiled. “Well, I knew you’d be coming so I saved some. I easily could have eaten the rest, Wally said, the last part a bit boastful. He was proud that he could eat faster than anybody. Not to mention, he could eat a lot more too. It was kind of weird to be proud of something like that.
That held good tidings. From what Raven just said her emotions were okay. The Teen Titans being around apparently helped her. Kept her emotions in check in a sort of way. Which was always good. They could never be too careful. But that meant . . . No doubt, Wally was glad it looked like it wasn’t the emotions thing. However, he still dreaded talking about what had happened to him. “Oh, I’ve been fine, really,” Wally said, though he was a bad liar. Well, in this case any way. “Haven’t really been up to too much lately. Haven’t talked to any of the other old members in quite some time now. I’ve just been helping keep the streets clean y’know. so same old same old.”
“So . . . what do you think of the new recruits,” Wally inquired? Wally actually liked the new recruits. He thought they had some great potential. If they could be trained to work as a team and in conjunction with each others powers then they could really make a great team. He had recently met Static who seemed fairly cool. He seemed like a fun guy to have around. He didn’t seem too serious being that many people would have freaked out if he had pulled a coke bomb prank on them. He laughed though. It was always good to have people who could laugh at themselves around.

It wasn't fair to keep him in this state and she could tell how it seemed like torture for him. “Well, I knew you’d be coming so I saved some. I easily could have eaten the rest," Looking down at the food, Raven thought about whether to take another slice but decided against it. "Feel free to finish it off. You probably need it more than me." |
[/b] She said, politely, looking back up at the red haired speedster. Ignoring Wally's pride about his ability to eat a lot of food, as best she could, Raven tried to focus on figuring out how to bring up her own issue of Pride. “Oh, I’ve been fine, really,” Looking at Wally, Raven remembered the emotions that she had found contained with him, despite his best efforts to hide them. When the Titans had gathered she had felt them attempting to slip out but the speedster had good control of his emotions and the dark teenager almost wondered if she imagined them in the hope that she was not the only one with problems. “Haven’t really been up to too much lately. Haven’t talked to any of the other old members in quite some time now. I’ve just been helping keep the streets clean y’know. so same old same old.” Raven nodded, politely. "Even when the Titans are not together we all have to do our best."[/b] She said, thinking about how she had gone for Doctor Fate for help as she tried to assemble the team and the more recent attempt to get help from Zatanna and to warn her if no help could be offered to the young demon. “So . . . what do you think of the new recruits,” Raven thought about all of the teenagers who had come to Titans Tower as the half-demon tried to bring them back together. There were a few members who had been with the Teen Titans before, which was good. "They are good and seem to get on fine with each other. I am glad we did not have any arguments. Kara's emotions are a little bright but I can cope with it. Chris seems to be fine, he's settled in his emotions. It's nice to see Mia and of course, your presence is also very welcomed."[/b] Raven said, thinking about the emotional atmosphere, something she used to make her decisions quite a lot. "As you are the oldest and from the original Teen Titans, do you plan to take the role of leader?"[/b] She asked politely. Then the dark Titan gave a sigh and looked away for a second. Her words reminded Raven that she may not be around for much longer. She owed Wally the truth and as she had noted, it was difficult for him to be kept in suspense. "I suppose, as nice as a relaxing catch-up between friends is, I must tell you the reason why I asked you to speak to me. It is in fact one of the reasons why I have been trying to get the Titans together, as a team,"[/b] She said, turning to look at Wally as she spoke, her normal expressionless face being maintained with much more effort than it usually was. "It started a few months back, now. I reacted emotionally to a situation. It was not a lone occurrence."[/b] Her words faltered as she remembered how she had sought out the help of Doctor Fate and what had happened. "I went to... Doctor Fate, hoping that he would tell me whether the increase of emotions was due to my father and whether he could help. He affirmed my fears. It appears that Trigon has not forgotten me or the Earth."[/b] [/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: Hans Zimmer notes: None. Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

Wally figured she could feel his impatience . . . though he assumed she wouldn't be surprised. It was a trademark of his. It wasn't his fault either. It was the simple fact that he had super charged brain activity. Everything happened a lot faster for him. Minutes were like hours to him. Or rather, seconds were like hours to him. And most people, when kept in suspense, tended to get impatient to begin with. Wally raised an eyebrow. "You sure?" Wally was more than willing to share. And Raven had only eaten one slice. Perhaps the news she bore was grim. He hoped everyone was okay. Grim news sometimes made people less hungry. Wally never understood that. In fact, when it was really bad he tended to eat more.
"Yeah, that's how I feel. I just feel that none of us have really been keeping in touch. I mean, I have all the time in the world because of my speed . . . sometimes I forget that, well, everybody else doesn't." Wally said thinking about all of his old friends and how long it had been since he had last seen them. Some of them he hadn't even seen since he got back. Although, honestly, that was partially his own fault. He wasn't completely sure he could see most of them without breaking down because he was actually seeing them alive again. It was hard enough just being near Raven. "I mean, Nightwing's so busy with the overabundance of crime in Bludhaven and Gotham. Roy's a single father now. Don't get much time to yourself in that kind of situation. I haven't exactly seen the others recently. And Bart's with Max Mercury still." Wally said as his thoughts moved to his cousin. He hadn't seen him in quite some time. It was a real shame. He felt like having an eating contest with him or something. The thoughts of Bart lightened him up a bit. Even if he was sad he hadn't seen him in quite some time.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about it a lot lately. It'd be good to have the Titans back together again. Even if we don't get all of the old members back. Though, uh, I'm just calling myself a Titan. Kinda too old to be called a Teen now." Wally was half joking and rubbed his neck as he said the last part. It was true, even though he was twenty-one in this time-line he was physically twenty-six. "I was thinking that we could all use some team training though. Being at least half of the team hasn't fought as a team, much less together before. And even you, me and Mia could use some team training together. It's been awhile since we fought together. Team training would help us all work in correlation with each others strengths and weakness. For example, Supergirl is weak against what some would call 'magic'. Of course, I believe everything can be explained by science. Magic is science that hasn't been explained yet. Meanwhile, I'm more use on the ground and am weaker in more friction-less environments." Wally stated. It was true. They should come up with strategies based on each others weaknesses and strengths.
Wally was a bit surprised by Raven's question. He hadn't really thought about who would be leader. Usually it was always a Robin or at least a previous Robin. And when that wasn't an option it usually defaulted to a Wondergirl. But Wally was the only member of the original team left. And the only team member that even came close to his years of experience was Raven. Not to mention his own super charged super speed brain activity would allow him to dissect situations faster than anyone else therefore coming up with plans and countermeasures faster than anyone else could. Logically, it was the right choice. He was afraid of messing up though. That was a definite. Especially after everything else that had happened. "I haven't really thought about it until now. But, yeah, I guess I probably should. I mean, I've been fighting crime longer than anyone on the team. Heck, I've been fighting crime longer than almost half the league. Hell, why not. I'll give a shot. Who knows, maybe this leader thing will suit me. I hear that positions of power attract women too. It worked for Nightwing. How else do ya think he got Star?" Wally said. He had been completely serious up until the last part. Though it was partially true. Dick had been the one in the position of power and authority within the team.
Oh no. Here it comes. He half felt like making some bad excuse and leaving. But he couldn't and not just because he felt frozen in place. But because it was Raven. He owed her more than that. He had felt guilty keeping the truth of what happened to him from her. Not to mention it might be something else. If Raven called him there to talk to her alone, there was no doubt it was important. He was silent as he waited for her to go on. Wally was surprised by the fact it wasn't his emotions. But it was worse. The moment she had said reacted emotionally he knew what she was going to say. He felt something in his stomach drop. Like when you get the news that someone you cared about had died or was in a coma or something. He tried to hide these emotions. He didn't view her as a dead woman walking. No, she was Raven. She could pull through this. She always did. She always turned out alright. Right? "Of course not," Wally said with a bit of anger in his voice. It wasn't at Raven it was at her father. he hated him. Of all of his friends parents, Raven's father had to be the worst. And that was taking in Ravager and Jericho's father, Deathstroke. Literally, the name itself, Deathstroke, was evil. It included Death in the name. "He just can't leave you alone can he?" Wally asked rhetorically. He wasn't asking about the fate of the world. He didn't say 'us' or 'the world'. No he said Raven. Because right now that was who he was fearful for. Because right now he wasn't worry about the world just yet. He was worrying about Raven.
The fact that she had gone to see Doctor Fate uplifted his hopes a bit though. Doctor Fate was one of those 'Law of Order' people. One of the 'magic' users. And if he remembered correctly, he was supposed to be an amazing one or something. He hoped he could help Raven. "And did Doctor Fate say anything else? Did he do anything? Is there anything he can do?" Wally asked trying to hide the worry from his voice the best he could. He didn't need to add to the emotional troubles of Raven by dumping his own emotions on her. Not when she was having trouble with her own.

There were some nerves in her and she doubted that she would be able to eat anything else while the speedster with his heightened metabolism. "You sure?" Raven nodded, dipped her head towards the pizza. "Go ahead." |
[/b] She said softly, looking down at the food. There was plenty left for Wally to make a meal of. Or a snack. Leaving the topic of food alone, Raven thought about the role of the Titans and how the Justice League may view the teenagers getting back together as well as what other teens would think. "Yeah, that's how I feel. I just feel that none of us have really been keeping in touch. I mean, I have all the time in the world because of my speed . . . sometimes I forget that, well, everybody else doesn't." Raven nodded, looking down at her own shoes as she thought about that. "I should have tried to keep in contact as well. I can teleport. I have no excuse."[/b] Raven said, her tone almost apologising. Maybe if she had kept in contact with everyone then the Titans would have been together earlier. She said, thinking about her little problem. "I mean, Nightwing's so busy with the overabundance of crime in Bludhaven and Gotham. Roy's a single father now. Don't get much time to yourself in that kind of situation. I haven't exactly seen the others recently. And Bart's with Max Mercury still." Raven nodded as Wally brought up some of the older members, thinking of her own attempts to locate former team members. "I'm guessing you don't have any news about Kory or Gar, then?"[/b] She asked, thinking of the heroes who had been known as Starfire and Bestboy. They had been good team members and she wondered where they were. It was possible that Kory wasn't even on Earth, Raven supposed. "Yeah, I've been thinking about it a lot lately. It'd be good to have the Titans back together again. Even if we don't get all of the old members back. Though, uh, I'm just calling myself a Titan. Kinda too old to be called a Teen now." Looking at Wally, Raven did suppose that he was too old to be considered a teenager but that didn't mean that he could not be part of the team and it appeared that he agreed. "Well, I'm glad that your fine to stay on, even if you're just a Titan. Titan's Tower would not be the same without you."[/b] She commented. There always was a speedster in the Teen Titans and Wally was the original speedster of the Titans. As Wally discussed how they would need training, Raven thought that this was just further proof that he would make a good leader. He was already thinking of their weaknesses and abilities. "Training will be a good idea. We still have the facilities for practice in the Tower although we could use, although they might need some work to fix them."[/b] She suggested, ignoring Wally's comment on magic. It was something that she had learnt to do a while ago. Her powers were based off magic but unlike science, it was not something that everyone considered to exist. As Raven brought up her question on whether Wally would assume the role of leader, the empathy felt his surprise, which she really did not think was necessary. He the oldest here, the most experienced. Besides, Wally was able to get along with others well, with his joking and laid back style. How else do ya think he got Star?" That seemed to settle the situations. "You'll make a good leader, Wally."[/b] The topic finally moved to the true reason as to why Raven had called Wally here and she fell silent after explaining, watching Wally, sensing his emotions, seeing his reactions. There was surprise, worry, concern and the emotions seemed to be almost reflected in Raven's eyes as she remained motionless, waiting for her old friend to speak. "Of course not," She could sense the anger in the speedster as he spoke and her indigo eyes looked almost mournful as she looked at Wally. "He just can't leave you alone can he?" She shook her head slightly, thinking about her father. Family issues. She wasn't the only Titan to have family issues but at times Raven felt like hers were some of the most difficult. As she brought up how she had went to see Doctor Fate, Raven felt Wally's hope, the change was certainly a welcome one. "And did Doctor Fate say anything else? Did he do anything? Is there anything he can do?" Raven closed her eyes and leaned back, remembering what had happened. "There was no way to stop Trigon. He said that the only thing that could be done was to delay him,"[/b] Raven said, deciding to speak the truth. "There's a spell to hide one from a demon and he was going to help me with this temporary arrangement but..."[/b] She didn't want to explain any further than that but she owed Wally the truth. The full truth. "He won't help me any more. I freaked out when I found out what was needed for the spell. I sort of attacked him without meaning. He can't help me while my emotions are like this. I also spoke to Zatanna. She had no help. At the very least its two powerful magic users who know the danger."[/b] Raven fell silent for a few seconds and gazed out of the window. At some point she would need to ask Wally whether he had the mystical artefacts that could kill her, the ones she had given to the Titans. Ask whether he was prepared to take the final measure if it came down to it.[/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: The Sound of Silence notes: None. Wally figured she was probably having trouble eating because it was bad news. That was not good. Not good at all. e really hoped that Raven had just gotten food on the way over here and ate it thinking he wouldn't have any left for her and finished on the way over rather than it meaning she had bad news. Too much bad stuff had been happening lately. He ate three slices at super speed, but then took a fourth slice and began to eat it normally. He had found that some people thought his eating habits were offsetting or weird. He was going to eat normally for now. This was obviously important. He listened to Raven's words on her not keeping in contact. Her tone was apologetic. "Neither of us have valid excuses. But we can't beat ourselves up over it. At least your trying to get the team back together now. And with the world's having collided there are more teen heroes than before. If we can all band together, we can form a team the likes the world has never seen before." Wally said trying to focus on the positive and letting the sanguine part of his personality flow.
Wally heard his fellow teammates names mentioned. He really hadn't heard or seen either of them. It was disappointing realizing how out of touch he was with his old friends. I mean hell, they had facebook and instagram and twitter and what not. There was no excuse to not keep in touch in this day and age! Especially if you had super speed! "No. No I haven't. In fact, I haven't really read anything in the news about Starfire lately. Maybe she's not on Earth right now." Wally said trying not to think of anything bad that might of happened to her as they tried to slip into his mind. "And I'm glad you're going to be on the team. Even if you aren't one of the original founding members, I couldn't picture the team without you," Wally said. It was true that he couldn't picture it. She was a core member of the team. A very important member. And an even more important friend for that matter. He listened to her comment on his training idea. "Yeah, besides anything that might need work I can fix pretty quick. So I'm sure it'll be fine in no time," Wally said with a smile as he took a bite of his now half finished pizza slice.
Wally was glad Raven thought he would be a good leader. It was a reassurance he needed. After everything that happened in the other universe he doubted his abilities as a leader or hero. "Thank you," he responded to Raven's comment on how he;d be a good leader. He finished the last bit of his slice of pizza. "If I'm going to be the sheriff around here, how'd you like to be the Sheriff's Deputy," Wally offered her the role as second in command. It would work well. If they needed to split into two teams, one to help civilians and one to fight, Raven would definitely be a great leader for the second. She was also the second most experienced on the team and the second oldest returning team member. Raven could see the emotions reflected in Raven's eyes and she looked mournful. He tried to bring in his emotions even though he was angry. He didn't want Raven to feel terrible about this. No. He wanted her to feel better about it. Like she could control it. Like she could beat this thing. Maybe if they both believed she could, then she'd be able to. However, once she said what Doctor Fate said he felt his anger and worry slipping a bit, but he reigned them in the best he could. "No. There's a way. There has to be. There's always a way." Wally said his tone serious. There just had to be. He wasn't losing one of his closest and oldest friend. He couldn't and he wouldn't.
He heard the but and something in his stomach dropped. 'But' what? He was getting angrier with Doctor Fate when she had said 'was going to' as in he didn't. Why wouldn't he help her? He listened to what she said about what happened. He couldn't reign in all his anger anymore. "What?! He's refusing to help you? That's absurd! I'll have to talk to him . . . he can't just refuse to help you, you need his help! What kind of 'hero' is he?" Wally felt his anger rising. How could Doctor Fate just refuse to help her? He was supposed to be some big magic user, Law of Order guy or something like that, wasn't he?!? How could he turn away Raven like that?

It was too fast for her to count and she didn't really mind. She had never been bothered by the way the speedster sometimes ate. "Neither of us have valid excuses. But we can't beat ourselves up over it. At least your trying to get the team back together now. And with the world's having collided there are more teen heroes than before. If we can all band together, we can form a team the likes the world has never seen before." To be fair, Raven thought that she could have done more. Her own abilities to get everyone together had been more effective in the past but with the two worlds, there were just so many people and it was easy to loose track of one person in the massive increase of people. "Yes, with the two worlds together, I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't long before teenage heroes come to Titans Tower, looking to join." |
[/b] She said, thinking about how strong the Titans could be. "So I guess its a good thing that we have a large tower."[/b] Bringing up the other Titans, Raven felt Wally's response and knew the answer before he spoke. There was disappointment which seemed to imply that he too had been out of contact with the others. "No. No I haven't. In fact, I haven't really read anything in the news about Starfire lately. Maybe she's not on Earth right now." Raven gave a nod, having come to that conclusion as well. Starfire's presence was usually a strong one that the empath was quite capable of locating but it was not true this time. "And I'm glad you're going to be on the team. Even if you aren't one of the original founding members, I couldn't picture the team without you," Raven thought about the response for a second before offering a smile. "Thank you. I was concerned that my presence may not be needed."[/b] This brought up the memories that she would have to deal with her father and that she might not be around for much longer. Yes, she had concern that she may not be needed in the team that had become her family long ago but maybe it would be better to make sure that even without her, they would keep together. Moving onto the subject of training, the Titan focused on the subject as she listened to Wally's words. "Yeah, besides anything that might need work I can fix pretty quick. So I'm sure it'll be fine in no time," That was useful, Raven had hoped that Wally might be able to work on the Training Rooms. It had taken Raven a long time to fix the more important rooms such as the living room and bedrooms. "So we should be able to have a training session in the near future?"[/b] She checked, thinking about how some the Teen Titans might react to the idea of a training session. She didn't think any might complain but it might be a good idea to have some food prepared for afterwards to try and make the whole idea seem more cheerful to them. "We'll probably want to have some sort of a meal planned for afterwards; cheer up anyone who didn't do as well as they hoped or in case they think that training is too like school."[/b] "If I'm going to be the sheriff around here, how'd you like to be the Sheriff's Deputy," That caught Raven by surprise; she had once tried to lead the team with Gar but that hadn't worked out and Raven herself was much more of a side-line person, or that's how she felt. After all, she wasn't allowed to feel emotions and thus ended up keeping almost everyone away at arms length to protect them and herself. Maybe it would be different as second in command. "If you want me to, I will,"[/b] Raven said, aware that she was the second oldest Titan, both in time spent with the Teen Titans and age. "I'm just not sure how good I would be."[/b] Or how long I'll be able to keep off my father's influence. As they discussed the problem of Trigon, Raven could feel Wally's emotions as clearly as she could see him. There was anger, worry, defiance. It seemed rather stark when compared to the fact that Raven was already resigned to her fate. "No. There's a way. There has to be. There's always a way." Briefly, Raven remembered how she had said almost the exact same thing when pleading with Doctor Fate for a way to stave off Trigon's influences without having to kill one of her brothers. "What?! He's refusing to help you? That's absurd! I'll have to talk to him . . . he can't just refuse to help you, you need his help! What kind of 'hero' is he?"Wally's anger at Fate was brighter than the other emotions he had been feeling and trying to turn down for her benefit and Raven wondered if the speedster might give up on that anger as Raven had no hostilities towards Fate for his lack of help. "Wally, relax. He has a legitimate reason for not helping me. As I said, I did attack him and he told me that he could not help unless I got my emotions under control. Which seems a bit ironic as its my emotions that first tipped me off about the problem..."[/b] Raven gave a small sigh. "I did not like the help that he had offered, anyway. That's why my emotions got out of control. It seems that to temporarily hide me from my father would require the heart of one of Trigon's children. Despite my problem with them, I would not kill any of my half-brothers."[/b] Besides, when one thought about it, if Raven remained hidden, then maybe Trigon would try his other children. The rest of the sins were not as powerful as Raven, or more specifically, Pride, but they could still wreck havoc and get to her in the end. Maybe it was better to face things head on. "You need to be prepared to do what's needed when I do turn. Trigon will be a much larger problem than my demonic self. If I'm gone, then he can't get to earth, I hope. And if it does come to having to kill me, I..."[/b] Raven paused, not because of her own emotions but because she didn't want Wally to have to suffer emotions because of her. "I would be grateful if you kept the Teen Titans going."[/b][/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: Sound of Silence notes: Do you think we should suggest a training thread on the Teen Titans Plot Page? "Your presence is always needed and welcomed, no matter what," Wally reassured Raven. Raven was like family to him. All of the Teen Titans were, but he and Raven were very close friends. And she was one of his oldest closest friends. Not to mention she was a great asset to the team. In his head, the pros heavily outweighed the cons. The only con he could think of was the possibility of Trigon trying to rise and use her to do so. "And yes, the sooner the training session the better. Even the veterans like you and me are a bit rusty when it comes to working as a team given how long its been." Wally ate another slice of pizza as he listened to what Raven said about having a meal afterwards and he thought that was a very good idea. "Yeah, not to mention to fuel up for those of us like me who need to eat because of their power. I think I can make it interesting enough that it's not like school though."
Even though Raven ended her sentence, Wally couldn't help but feel it was unfinished. Like there were some lingering words she hadn't said. But he shrugged it off for now. She'd say what it was she called him there for when she was ready for it. "I'm sure you'd do a great job." Wally reassured her. He could think of quiet a few reasons why she'd make a great second in command.
Wally could feel his anger rising about Doctor Fate. How could he just not help her? Even if she did react the way she did? He was supposed to be one of the good guys. But he didn't seem too adamant on stopping Trigon from rising. He didn't seem to eager to save a young girl's life as well as the world. What kind of hero was he? Then there was the anger at Trigon. He was such a terrible father. He looked at his daughter as little more than a chess piece. It was sickening. "He wanted you to murder someone? What kind of 'hero' is he?!" Wally bellowed with air quotes around hero. If he was a cartoon character there might be steam coming from his ears.
Wally listened to his friend and a knot just kept tightening in his stomach. No . . . No . . . No this can't be happening . . . this isn't happening he told himself as he could feel his heart pace speed up. He couldn't lose his friend. He just couldn't. "Stop talking like that Raven . . . You're talking like you've already given up . . . You can't give up. You can't let him win. It's what he wants . . . He wants to break you and then use what's left of you to fulfill his plans. We can get through this, Raven. All of us." He said half reassuring Raven and half reassuring himself at the same time. He had lost too many people. He couldn't lose anyone else. Not again.
But as much as Wally didn't want to lose his best friend . . . He also knew that the world was more important than any one person. Even a person as great as Raven. If it happened . . . he knew what he would have to do. It also terrified him that he felt that when it happened he'd be able to do it. The old him might not of been able to do it. But after everything he'd seen . . . he just couldn't let his feelings for his friends get in the way of saving the world. He knew the price it could pay. He knew the consequences of hesitation. "I . . . I promise that if . . . anything happens to you . . . I'll keep the Teen Titans going." he said doing his best not to choke or anything as he did his best to keep his emotions at bay.

After all, she was a half-demon who had to remain at distance in order to keep everyone safe. Despite this, Raven was aware that she had become close to several members of the original team, including Wally. Maybe she could get closer to the new team, even with the threat of Trigon making her more concerned about keeping everyone at arms length. Or almost everyone. She was trusting Wally and was not about to loose their friendship because her father might take her in the near future. There was always the chance that she would escape Trigon. "And yes, the sooner the training session the better. Even the veterans like you and me are a bit rusty when it comes to working as a team given how long its been."
Raven nodded in response, thinking about how long it had been since she had worked in a team. "Working as a team is more important than the powers in many cases. They say that a team is only as strong as its weakest link but I would say that the team is only as strong as its bonds." |
[/b] She said, thinking about the teamwork within the Teen Titans. They were certainly strongest together. "Yeah, not to mention to fuel up for those of us like me who need to eat because of their power. I think I can make it interesting enough that it's not like school though." If anyone could make the training session interesting, Raven was sure that it was Wally. "I'll get the food in and if you need my help for preparing the training session, all you need to do is ask." The dark teenager replied. Thinking about how the team might be arranged, Raven was certain that Wally was the best choice for the leader. He was the oldest and best prepared. "I'm sure you'd do a great job." Looking up at the speedster, the dark Titan still doubted her own use but did not speak any more on the subject. She would do her best while she was free from her father's control. As the conversation moved onto her father and the help that she had sought out. She could feel the anger building up inside Wally and naturally, the empath tried to remove those feelings from her friend, to decrease them. Anger was not a helpful emotion to have inside one. "He wanted you to murder someone? What kind of 'hero' is he?!" Raven gave a sigh as Wally said this, it was a difficult thing to explain. "I don't think its viewed as murderer. He told me that my brothers, unlike me, have no soul. I think many view it OK to kill demons because of this."[/b] Raven said, her words slightly dark. She was sure that there were some who would not have a problem with killing her. "Stop talking like that Raven . . . You're talking like you've already given up . . . You can't give up. You can't let him win. It's what he wants . . . He wants to break you and then use what's left of you to fulfill his plans. We can get through this, Raven. All of us." Raven gave a small, sad smile as Wally spoke. "I am not giving up. But we need to have a plan if I do turn. I do not want to threaten the world, just because I wasn't prepared to plan for the worst."[/b] The dark teenager replied, her voice strong. Raven knew that Pride would not care for the lives of others. "I . . . I promise that if . . . anything happens to you . . . I'll keep the Teen Titans going." Raven could feel Wally's emotions, despite his best attempt to hide them and wordlessly the teenager took them onto herself. "I knew I could trust you, Wally. The Teen Titans will be needed in the future, I am certain. But you have no need to feel bad. I have accepted what is going to happen and even if I must die, it will be for the good of many more. Including myself. The only one to suffer will be my demonic side."[/b][/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: None notes: Do you think we should suggest a training thread on the Teen Titans Plot Page? “I agree. And everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. At one moment one member might seem like the ‘weakest link’ while at another moment another might seem to be. If there’s ‘magic’ or kryptonite involved then a kryptonian may seem to be the weakest link despite usually being an asset. A team isn’t about weakest links. It’s about working together to cover each other’s weaknesses with each others strengths and augmenting each others usefulness with teamwork and cooperation to accomplish feats that none could accomplish on their own.” Wally agreed with Raven. He would most definitely have to study up on each members strengths and weaknesses and develop counter-measures and plans for certain situations in which those individual weaknesses may be exploited by villains. He certainly had a lot of work ahead of him.thank you,” Wally responded. This would be his first time as a leader. He was nervous.
“Murder is murder. There is no distinction and there is no excuse for pre-meditated murder.” Wally explained his view on it. Going looking for blood to protect yourself was wrong. And he knew that that wasn’t who Raven was. He just couldn’t see how anyone could think of it as not killing someone. Then again he never believed the whole ‘soul’ thing. Living was living. It wasn’t because of a soul or some higher power. It was because of a heart that is continuously pumping blood throughout one’s body. Maybe it was something else that kept her demonic brother’s alive, but it was the same point.
He was relieved to hear Raven say she wasn’t giving up. That definitely calmed him down some. He began to take in more what she was saying. He began to think about it. And the more he thought about, the more he realized that she was right. They needed a failsafe. An endgame. A plan for a ‘what if’ scenario in which Pride does return. Because if Pride did return, they’d have to take care of Pride as quick as possible. No matter the cost. They couldn’t take the chance of Trigon rising and they’d have to stop it from happening even if it meant killing Raven. He hated it. But it was true.
“You’re wrong, I mean you’re right about that other stuff but . . . you wouldn’t be the only one to suffer. We all would. Me, BB, Dick, Star, Cyborg . . . all of us. But I promise that if it come’s down to it . . . I’ll do what needs to be done.” It took a lot to say that. He wanted to fight that with every fiber of his being. He didn’t want to admit it. He didn’t want to picture any kind of scenario in which those he’d care about would die. He had lived through the scenario in which everyone he cared for died. IUt wasn’t pretty. And it still haunted him.

"And I am not too good in a close fight. Or one that involves too much emotion." |
[/b] Raven added, remembering some of the difficulties that she had faced in past conflicts. Often, Raven found herself simply working to keep civilians safe. As they spoke, Raven felt that Wally was nervous about the situation and she realised that his nerves were about becoming a leader. "Wally, you will be a great leader. Don't doubt your own skill. You have no need to be nervous."[/b] Raven pointed out as she looked at the speedster with her indigo eyes which seemed slightly warmer as she spoke. Thinking about the issue with Doctor Fate, Raven wondered whether she should have tried harder to master her own emotions and to get help. “Murder is murder. There is no distinction and there is no excuse for pre-meditated murder.” As Wally said that, Raven realised something that she had not considered. When she asked Wally to kill her, she was asking him to do something that she could not bring herself to do. If it would stain his soul, she would not have dared risk it but Raven was certain that her death would not be considered a wrong. Especially if she was Pride. With guilt flowing through her, Raven looked down at her feet, not wanting to let her guilt get out of hand. One of the problems with being an empathy meant that if she was not careful. It was not often that she had to deal with having her own emotions and she was wary. “You’re wrong, I mean you’re right about that other stuff but . . . you wouldn’t be the only one to suffer. We all would. Me, BB, Dick, Star, Cyborg . . . all of us. But I promise that if it come’s down to it . . . I’ll do what needs to be done.” Raven looked at speedster, guilt still within her and possible even increasing as she thought about what Wally had said. "Don't suffer if I'm gone and don't let the others. I will be happier if I'm gone rather than stuck as a Pride."[/b] Raven said, looking away, hands on her knees as she sat and thought about it. She almost seemed hunched over as the guilt pressed down on her. She was unused to feeling this emotion. "I'm sorry I have to ask you to do such a thing. Its selfish of me to ask you to do this when I don't have the courage to do the same thing to my brothers."[/b] Raven apologised, looking at his feet as she spoke, realising what a dreadful friend she was to ask Wally to do this. If only there had been another way. A better back-up plan.[/style] tags:Wally word count: ??? muse: Third Rock from the Sun notes: Nope! Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

Wally nodded. Personally he thought that Raven had the potential to do very, very good in a close fight. Though he understood what she meant. Especially the emotion part. Most people let their emotions go a little overboard in fights which wasn’t very good for Raven. It wasn’t really good for anyone. Sometimes he forgot Raven was an empath. He didn’t know why. He just got surprised sometimes when Raven read his emotions like the way she did. “Right,” Wally said with a nod. However, he didn’t tell her the biggest contributor to his nervousness. He had been in an end of the world scenario before . . . and he had failed. He had failed everyone. Or at least he felt he had. He had lost everybody. He had also lost a large chunk of his confidence. Albeit he had so much of it that it wasn’t very noticeable. Especially being he hid it. But how could he not be nervous after screwing up as bad as he had? How could he be the confident Wally? He didn’t know, but he had to try.
He realized he was letting some of these feelings loose and he slammed the door on them, stopping them in their tracks. He wasn’t ready to talk to Raven about them. And he wasn’t ready for anyone to know. He didn’t think he could talk about it without breaking down. Wally’s mind was taken off of it as he listened to what Raven said. He nodded his head left to right. “You don’t get it. We can’t control if we suffer or not. We’re losing someone we love. Someone who’s part of our family. We would know that. We all would. We’ll always tell ourselves it had to be done. We’d always say that it had to be done. That the world was at risk. And we’d know that you would rather be gone than be stuck as Pride. But none of that could ever change the hole you’d leave. Nothing could stop that suffering. Even if it was for the greater good, we’d of lost you.” Wally could feel himself getting emotional as he thought about losing Raven. About everything.
“Don’t be sorry. You don’t have that in you. It’s what makes you who you are. When it comes down to it . . . I’ll do what I have to do to protect the world. Even if it means losing you. But you have to promise me that no matter what you won’t give up. You came back once before and you can do it again. We don’t have to lose you. You don’t have to die. But once you give up . . . it’s over. We’ve already lost. It’s why we can never give up .Because once we do, we’ve lost. That’s when people like Trigon or Captain Cold or the Joker win. Once we give up.”
