And if you had any hair I'd take that too!"
Hair: Jan usually wears her hair in a fairly short style; whether it be an elfin crop, or a shoulder length bob with bangs, or something in the middle. Her hair is naturally auburn, though she sometimes chooses to dye it different colours, or have a few highlights put through the front.
Eyes: Jan’s eyes are a deep brown colour, and a little oriental looking.
Height: 5 ft 3
Weight: 107 pounds
Distinguishing Marks:2 ear piercings – one in each lobe.
Appearance:
Whilst Janet Van Dyne is quite petite and lean, she does have enough muscle, tone and curve to keep her figure from looking boyish. She is quite vain, and due to her socialite status, she takes good care of herself and dresses in the latest designer clothing. She changes her style frequently, always keeping up with trends and fashions, but she does usually aim for quite a girly, feminine look. Her features are delicate, and almost pixie-esque, keeping in fitting with her tiny frame. Looks are deceiving in this instance; Jan looks as though butter wouldn’t melt, but that isn’t necessarily in keeping with her personality.

Personality:
Jan was born into a privileged way of life, and sometimes she very much takes it for granted. She expects the finer things in life, and can behave like a spoilt brat if she doesn’t get her own way. Though Jan has led a comfortable and well-off existence, it doesn’t mean that she is a bad person. Arguably her worst fault would be that she is extremely naïve, and a little shallow, but this once again is attributable to the comfortable, slightly protected upbringing that she’s had. Jan can be immature at times; she won’t take something seriously, unless she feels like it. She does have a rash and reckless streak, she will take risks, as she doesn’t always think consequences through, and knows that she can usually fall back on her money to get her out of any sticky situation.
On the other hand, Jan is kind and caring, and feels that as the Wasp, she has a responsibility to use her powers to help and protect people. She views the bad guys with slight contempt, as she has a very firm idea of right and wrong in her own mind. The Wasp does have a competitive streak, and doesn’t like being outdone by anyone, especially if that hint that it has anything to do with her size, age, gender, capability etc. She is extremely determined, and can achieve most things that she puts her mind to. She had a great sense of humour, and loves being the life and soul of any party, keeping the attention firmly placed on her. She is embracing her young, free and single lifestyle wholeheartedly, flirting, partying and generally having a good time.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers:
Flight – When Jan has shrunk down to her miniature form, a pair of delicate, but powerful translucent wings. These wings allow Jan to reach speeds of up to 40 mph.
Ability to shrink in size – Due to the process that Jan underwent, courtesy of Dr Henry Pym, the Wasp can now shrink in size. The full potential of how small Jan is able to shrink has never been comprehensively tested. When in combat, Jan uses the ability to shrink down, blast her enemies, and then zip away before they even know what has hit them.
Stingers – Another part of the process that Jan underwent, she is able to harness her body’s natural Bio electric energy into small, but mighty ‘Wasp Stings.’ These bolts that she shoots from her wrists, used to come from specially made wrist blasters; however due to the absorption Pym particles, she is now able to convert and fire the energy herself.
Weapons N/A
(Formerly she would have used wrist devices to fire her Wasp Stings, but she is now able to do this unaided.)
Strengths/Abilities:
Trained in combat
Flying
Fashion
Weaknesses:
The Avengers (who she views as her friends, and almost her own adopted, dysfunctional family.)
Being naïve and not thinking her actions through

History:
Janet was born to the well do to, socialite Van Dyne family. She is the first and only child of the renowned scientist Dr. Vernon Van Dyne. The good Doctor died suddenly and tragically in what was initially believed to be a lab accident, leaving his only child to inherit his fortune. It was later revealed that Jan’s father had been killed by a space alien from another time. Shortly before his death, Jan had met one of her father’s associates, Dr Hank Pym. After convincing him that it was a good idea, she underwent the procedure that gave her wings, and implanted Pym particles into her. Once healed, together they went to avenge her father, Jan as the Wasp, and Hank as Ant-Man. The two became partners and worked together for a long time, with an on-off romance bubbling underneath the surface.
The pair were invited to join a team of superheroes who were being put together, that Jan helped to name. The Avengers was founded by the Wasp, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Captain America (once he had thawed out!) Jan threw herself heart and soul into the Avengers. Due to her commitment to the Avengers, and Hank’s strong work ethic, the couple were once again off, in their on-off relationship. Jan couldn’t help but find Hank just a little frustrating, and used to flirt with her fellow Avengers (quite frankly for the hell out it, though if it provoked a reaction from Hank, she wouldn’t have complained.)
Jan has recently taken a leave of absence from the Avengers following a battle with Count Nefaria that left her with a few wounds. She took time away from the Avengers to heal. Now she is back, ready for action and to pick up where she left off.

Writing Sample:
Sunlight filtered through the slightly open curtains, landing in a bar across the slumbering girl’s eyes. The sunlight was just enough to rouse her. She groaned, and pulled one of the cushions from behind her on the sofa over her head, blocking out the slightly painful light. A few moments later her mobile phone started ringing. Urgh, where the hell was it anyway? The sprawled out form peeked out from under the cushion and the messed up hair to try and see if it was within arms reach. A hand blindly groped at the coffee table in front of her, knocking a few unknown items over in the process. She let out a frustrated groan before gingerly sitting up and smoothing down her hair.
Where her penthouse living room had once been, was now a mix of mess, carnage, empty bottles, and strewn remains of snacks. She wished she hadn’t looked. The ringing of the phone had stopped, but the ringing in her ears remained. She delicately stood, and tried to piece together last night, to no avail. Locating her phone she saw that she had one missed call. Whilst usually she wouldn’t turn down an Avengers meeting, she wasn’t about to go in like this. She called Tony, he’d understand.
‘Tony, I'm really sorry, I don’t think I can make the meeting,’ she said, using her best ‘poorly’ voice. ‘I’m real sick, and I think it would be for the best if I stayed in bed all day… Can you maybe e-mail me the notes, and I’ll read them… sometime?’
