Personality:
Positive: Molly is a very upbeat girl, enthusiastic and happy. The glass is always half full for her, and she doesn’t get why others don’t see it that way too. She prefers to see the best in everyone, even if she has to dig a little to find it, and this makes her a bit naïve sometimes, but not to the point where she will blatantly ignore things that are right in front of her . She has a very child-like joy about her, and enjoys jokes, games and making people laugh. This tends to make her seem younger than she is, and others end up wanting to protect her, even though she is convinced that she can take of herself perfectly well. Molly loves cute things. Animals, especially cats; cute cartoons and artwork, hats and stuffed animals, her favorite being a Gir doll that she won’t admit that she still keeps on her bed. She’s also rather talkative and excitable, which can drive others crazy at times.
Justice-minded: For as long as she can remember, Molly has wanted to be heroic and save the world. She grew up on tales of superheroes capable of amazing feats of strength and power; these have all been her idols and with seeing all the crime and injustice in the world, Molly wants to go out and beat the bad guys, and save those who need saving. She loves her friends, and will do anything she can to help them if needed. This drive only became stronger when Molly found out what bad people her parents were. She felt the need to do good in the world, to try to make up for her parents and what they wanted to do.
Temper: Despite Molly’s normally happy nature, she does have a temper, and has no problem letting people know when they’ve angered her. Like her joy, her anger can also be rather childlike, and Molly has been known to have out and out temper tantrums. She will often forget her own strength when in the throes of one of these, and can cause severe property damage before she realizes what she’s doing.
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Powers:
Molly doesn’t look it, but she is a *very* powerful girl. She has the ability of massive strength, enough that so far she has demonstrated being able to lift up to 100 tons, and can tunnel through miles of rock, but has not had the limits of that strength tested yet. Along with this strength comes invulnerability while she is using her power, allowing her to withstand blows that would cripple the average person.
A side effect of her power is that her eyes glow a rather purplish-pink color when she is using her strength. She thinks this might be an indication that her powers are psionic in nature, especially since her parents were both telepaths and she doesn’t have any special muscle mass to help explain her strength, but isn’t sure.
Molly’s power does seem to have some connection to adrenaline and a weakness that she has is that she tires easily after using it. At first she would fall asleep immediately after using her strength, but now she is able to use it for upwards of ten minutes at a time before having to rest. The longer it is in use, the more fatigued she gets, and Molly will often have to nap if she’s been exerting herself. Caffeine will rejuvenate her if she hasn’t had enough rest, but her strength will be reduced if she’s awakened this way.

History:
Molly was the only daughter of Gene and Alice Hayes, a doctor and speech therapist living in Los Angeles, California. Life seemed good for Molly. She loved her parents and her friends, was a smart girl and did well in school when she bothered to apply herself, but her favorite thing in life was comic books. Tales of action and adventure; superheroes and warriors and wizards who defeated great monsters and evil, these fed her imagination. Molly wanted to be just like them someday. She could picture herself flying magically through the air, strong and brave, with the villains running in fear at the sight of her. She’d have her own costume, maybe a cool suit of armor or something like the other superheroes did, and afternoons would be spent drawing out what she thought that costume would look like. Her drawings looked pretty good to her, and before too long Molly started drawing pictures of herself in her different costumes. Princess Powerful, is the name she came up for herself, since all good heroes had titles, and she drew adventures of Princess Powerful sending bad guys flying all the way to the moon with just one mighty blow.
This continued on through Molly’s childhood, but what she didn’t know was that her parents weren’t the nice people that she thought they were. Gene and Alice Hayes were telepaths, and along with five other couples who had gifts of their own, they were a group of supervillains called The Pride, a criminal organization that controlled Los Angeles. Their money and power bought them access to all levels of city government, as well as the police. They served a trio of giants called the Gibborim, who planned to wipe out the entire planet and create a new paradise. The members of The Pride agreed to serve them in exchange for the opportunity to help rule the world with them. Once a year the members of this cult would gather together for what they called an annual charity fundraiser, but what was in fact a ritual sacrifice required by the Gibborim in order to build their power here.
When Molly was fourteen, she was playing with the children of the other Pride members at that year’s get together. Some of the older kids however had snuck off to spy on what their parents were doing, and seeing the sacrifice were frightened, realizing that their parents weren’t who they thought they were. They make plans to escape from home that very night, out of fear of what their parents would do next. When coming to Molly’s home though they are discovered by Mr. and Mrs. Hayes, who put their daughter into a psychically-induced sleep. Molly awakens to see her mother under attack from one of her friends and terrified, finds that her strength has increased itself exponentially in her effort to rescue her mother. This first exertion completely wears her out though and she falls asleep, leaving the others to carry her off.
The kids make a home for themselves in an abandoned building and began to fend for themselves, doing odd jobs and whatever they can to put food on the table, but also stopping crimes when they see them happening. It was explained to Molly about the ritual sacrifice that the Pride had taken part in, but she doesn’t completely believe it, not able to accept that her parents could do something that horrible. At the same time though, she loves the idea of becoming a crime fighter, and so sees this as a big adventure. This was her opportunity to become ‘Princess Powerful’, and that is what she asks her friends to call her, but instead they end up nicknaming her ‘Bruiser’.
Over time the older kids keep track of what the Pride is doing, and re-enter one of their old homes, finding a text that explained about the demons, the ritual sacrifice and the end of the world that the Pride hoped to achieve. The kids make plans to confront their parents and stop the next sacrifice. Hiding at the location of the ritual, which was to be at a very out of the way location, the kids discover the sacrifice about to take place Molly was horrified to see that her friends were right; her parents were evil and really planned to help end human life on this world. Together the kids managed to stop the sacrifice but in the process the undersea headquarters of The Pride collapses, and the members are presumed dead. Despite everything she’d seen her parents do, Molly was distraught at their deaths and so gave no resistance when Social Services came and took the children into custody.
Molly was placed in foster care and while she liked the people she lived with and they were good to her, she found herself missing her former friends and her life as a crime fighter. One day after school she returns back to find a member of the X-Men there and that Molly was invited to come study there with other mutants. Liking the idea, Molly accepted.

Writing Sample:
Molly had the feeling that Jenny didn’t really believe her about her strength. She was used to that though. People tended to not believe her about that, not even other mutants. She was only sixteen after all, rather slender, with no obvious muscles. However the muscles weren’t in her body, they were in her mind; and when she showed what she could do, peoples’ minds tended to change very quickly. Unfortunately there really wasn’t much she could do down in this level of the Institute to prove herself that wouldn’t involve major property damage. And even then, when compared to the Hulk, who was just so…so…well, Hulkish…it must just seem laughable for her to want to go up against him. Of course this just made her want to do it even more. Even if Molly lost, which she had to admit was very likely, it would be only by such a small margin that there would be few people laughing when that contest was over.
So her answer to Jenny’s question came very easily. ”Oh yes I am. I might not be able to beat him, but it’d be a contest he wouldn’t forget any time soon.” Then she grinned, always loving this part. ”But you don’t believe me, do you?” Molly said, and looked around the room for something she could prove her point on, but wouldn’t bring the wrath of the powers that be down on her head. On the end table next to the end of the couch she was on there was a little glass sculpture; must be some kind of modern art-type thing because Molly couldn’t figure out what it was supposed to be. It would do nicely though, and she figured it probably wouldn’t be missed so she picked it up and cupped both of her hands underneath it.
”Watch this.” she said smugly to her new friend, and flicked the little mental switch inside her head that gave her access to her strength. Molly knew it wasn’t really a switch, but picturing it that way was the easiest way for her to make the mental adjustment she needed to use her ability. By this time Molly knew that her eyes were now glowing purple, and she brought her hands up around the sculpture and began to squeeze it. There was a cracking sound as the glass first fractured, then broke into little pieces. Molly didn’t stop there though; she proceeded to grind the pieces together between her hands until pieces like course sand fell from her hands onto the floor. The broken glass should have shredded the skin of her hands into hamburger, but the invulnerability she had while her power was in use kept her safe. Finally Molly brushed the remainder of the ground glass off on her jeans, then looked up at Jenny. She felt a yawn coming on from the energy expenditure, but she managed to fight it off.
”The Hulk may be stronger, but at least I don’t have to turn big, green and ugly to use my power. I think I should get points for that.” she said proudly. Molly figured she was probably going to have to find a vacuum cleaner to take care of the little mess she’d just made on the floor, but it was worth it; a couple of other people were staring now too. Hopefully nobody would miss that statue though.
She listened to Jenny’s ideas about a helmet for Princess Powerful. She hadn’t seen Magneto or his helmet, but she’d heard things here and there about it, and Jenny was right; she didn’t want her hero to look like she was wearing a bucket. Totally the wrong look. She thought about it, and started doodling idly on the cover of her sketch pad. ”Hm. You’re right. Can’t make hertoo powerful. No drama at all if her life isn’t in danger sometimes. Maybe…how about if the helmet absorbs magic, but it can only absorb so much before she has to stop and…de-charge it or something like that? I don’t know exactly yet; I’ll have to think about it some more.” It was definitely a good idea, and Molly thought she could make it work.
Molly listened to Jenny explain why she didn’t think she could be a hero. She wasn’t quite sure what the girl’s power was, and was starting to suspect it was something pretty bad; was thatwhy she was wearing the suit? But even if that was true, she still had choices. She didn’t have to let whatever it was keep her from doing what she wanted, not if she really wanted it. Molly felt sorry for Jenny, but not because of her mutation, whatever it may be. Instead she felt sorry that all this negativity was keeping Jenny down and away from what she wanted.
She shook her head. ”I don’t think you’re selfish, not really. You’re just stuck right now. You want to be a scientist, right? I don’t know what your mutation is or why it’s keeping you in that suit, but there must be a scientific way around it, right?” Molly doodled a prototype of a helmet, decided she didn’t like how it looked but since she didn’t have an eraser on this pencil she couldn’t erase it and so she crossed it out and started over. ”Even if you can’t find a way out of that suit there’s still no reason why you can’t be a scientist. Look at that one scientist…the one in the wheelchair, who talks through that speech thingy…”Molly paused for a moment, trying to think of the guy’s name. ”Hawking? He’s so smart, and manages to do all these great science things, and he can’t walk or talk. You can do both. And you seem pretty smart. I think I'm pretty smart, but not smart enough that I think I could be a scientist, so I think that's really cool that you're able to do something like that.” She looked back up at Jenny. ”I think you could do anything you want to.”
