Sarah had originally been a redhead with blue eyes and a stout figure, but since the change-up she had become a tall, slender african-american with the kindest brown eyes and short, black hair curled tightly in ringlets. It probably had something to do with the forced nature of the change, that had caused her to ... well ... change like that. She still was one of Aleta's best friends though, and had that same spunky, cheery attitude. The tall Arcturian was grateful for that. She made her way over to a chair in the waiting room. "Oh thank the Hawk God I'm back." Aleta collapsed into the plush seat, murmured quite to herself, and closed her eyes. She felt like she could die here in this chair from how tired she felt, however at the same time there was a fulfilled feeling that made Aleta happy, and gave her new strength. She had helped rescue many hurricane survivors, that at least was worth something. Sometimes she wondered if any of her Avengers pals would ever just go and do that, help with the general state of things and not go around trying to fight crime like some heroes did. Without a doubt Steven- Captain America and Clint- Hawkeye would do it. They were probably the two most charitable and caring people on the regulars team. But she had doubts about Tony- Iron Man, Thor, Natasha- Black Widow and yes, even Bruce- Hulk. Well, Hulk had a decent excuse. He wasn't suited really for anything except, smashing- which might cause more harm than good in a disaster zone. But the others, it was disappointing that their idea of a true hero was only limited to fighting baddies and rescuing damsels. Tony, Aleta knew, was probably the worst offender of this. Though in the past she had heard stories of him trying to relenquish control of weapons from an illegal transfer to terrorists in the middle east, that was far from a natural disaster situation. And, the Iron Man suit could be so much help in situations like that. Scanners, for finding people among wreckage; the flight options and almost unlimited strength; his built-in lasers would do great at tearing through steel bent and broken by nature's ravages... Aleta pushed it all out of her mind and thought about the other half of what happened today. On the way back to headquarters had met and made a few new friends. Aleta was still in a slight state of stupified amazement over the grounds of Xavier's School, and how everyone there was ready and willing to help. Hellion, the first one she had met, was so nice. She and him had gotten along so nicely. Standing up again, Aleta strolled back over to the main desk and pushed open the gate that led behind it. "Are you alright, 'leta?" Sarah asked worriedly. "I've never seen you so... Exhausted." Aleta smiled a bit. "I don't think I've ever felt this exhausted." She sighed, and stopped for a second. "But I'm fine, Sarah, All I need is a nice warm shower and I'll be picture perfect again." "Go take one. I think you deserve it. If anyone comes looking for you, I'll have them wait here." Sarah nodded, her curly hair bobbing and eyes sparkling. Aleta smiled at her dark-skinned friend. "Thank you Sarah. You are really the best." She disappeared into the back of the expansive building, and in no time the shower's pressure was massaging out the kinks in Aleta's sore shoulders.[/style] |
