Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

It was night and she was travelling through China Town, searching for the tower that she knew belonged to one of the Justice League members who was skilled with magic. The Titan's feet didn't even touch the ground as she flew through some of the deserted streets, over houses and the streets full of people. It wasn't hard for her to move silently. It was important for her to seek out the tower and the man who owned it; Doctor Fate. The reason behind her journey had been on Raven's mind a lot. In recent times she had been struggiling to control her emotions, this had proven to be rather bad for Sinestro, and if Raven planned to get the Titans back together, control would be most important.
For now, her emotions were all hidden, the Titan did not know if Doctor Fate would be of much help when it came to controlling her darker side. What was the more important thing was figuring out the reason why she was struggiling? Raven had yet to check on her father, his last attempt to take over Earth left him drained and unable to gather enough power. Besides, Raven hated family outings. But could there be another reason why she was struggiling? Maybe the wrong alinment of demonic ducks, or stars. Any reason would be useful for the teenager.
Eventually, she reached the tower, the Titan knew better than to teleport inside. It was impolite and Doctor Fate was a magic user. She would prefer not to appear like an attacker. So instead she landed gently on the ground, glancing around as she did. Her hood was up over her face, casting a shadow of a raven, even though it was night. Everything appeared safe and she rang the door bell. Then, as she waited, the half demon collected her emotions, making sure that they were all locked away so she would not have to deal with any of that sort of problems. Then it was just to see if Doctor Fate was in. [/div] [/style]

She was coming to seek his help. Fate could dectect her energy, even in the trance-like state he was in. He was meditating, right at the top of his tower, where he could see the astral forms of the entire city. They were even more blurred to him than before. The recent influx of universes had brought in more spirits. Many of magical origin. Even Nabu was finding it hard to keep tabs on them. They were of unfamiliar origin and their magic, foreign in nature, even to the great wizard. The world was changing. He could feel it in the air and the earth. Something was shifting in the balance of order and chaos. Though which side was on the advantage, he could not see.
It was faint, but he heard the doorbell sound a solid ring. Someone was seeking the wisdom of Kent Nelson and Nabu. Fate removed the helmet, and slowly floated back to the ground, reverting back to Kent in the process. He placed the helmet on a table near an armchair, then he sank through the floor. All the way down to the door. Hopefully, the customer wouldn't be freaked out by the fact he was using magic. He floated down to the door, and, making sure the lanterns on either side of the door were in their proper place, opened it to reveal Raven. In an instant, his eyes washed over her as he scanned her aura. It was dark and heavy. An indicator of dark magic.
"Welcome to Fate's Tower." he said, nodding his head in greeting. "I am Doctor Fate."

She could feel the emotion of the city pulsing around her, trying to sneak it's way into her emotions. Mostly she was good at keeping emotions out. Sometimes it was harder and those hard times were coming more comon now days. Then the door opened and indigo eyes flickered to the person behind the door. He looked normal, while Raven stood in her blue cloak, shrouded in the darkness. But the Titan could sense magic on him and assumed that this must be Doctor Fate. "Welcome to Fate's Tower." Raven regarded him, emotionlessly and gave a nod of greeting in reply to his.
"I am Doctor Fate." So her assumption had been correct. Raven then decided to introduce herself. "My name is Raven, I'm one of the Teen Titans. I hope you do not mind me coming here?" [/b] The Titan asked politely. It was something that Raven was cautious about. The first time she had met the Justice League of America she had been trying to get their help to defeat her father. Instead they had denied her as one of their members sensed her demonic heritage. The half demon did not want to cause any trouble, but she hoped that she would be able to get the help that she seeked.[/blockquote][/div] [/style]

Kent was about to disagree. This person...was she even a human...was an incredibly powerful sorceress. He didn't know her personally, but he could tell that she was strong. Stronger than him? Probably not. When he was full Nabu, he could probably take her on and win. That, and Fate's Tower was full of anti-curses and dark magic protection. He would need to turn them off to let her in. He would need to make his home vulnerable to dark forces. It wasn't really desirable, but she sought his help. He felt obliged to help her.
"Oh, no. Not at all." he said, putting on a warm smile. "Come in. I'll make you some tea." He backed out of the room slightly, and put out the lanterns, lowering the charm and making it safe for Raven to enter. The first floor of the tower was the living area. It was decorated with two plush armchairs, a roaring fire, and a coffee table, upon which sat a steaming teapot, and a few cups. Kent poured some tea into two of the cups and sat down. "Now then, what compelled you to seek me out?"

She sensed a hesitance or worry. It appeared that she was going to be denied. It wouldn't be the first time and the Titan guessed that instead she would have to put extra time into her research. Already she had gone through many books, they told a lot, but not everything. Raven was beginning to fear that her slip in control might be due to her inability to work with her emotions, being unable to contain them. In which case she needed to find out why that was. Could it be the lack of a team? A lack of hanging out with others and so she had to reaclimatise herself as she began to spend more time with humans?
"Oh, no. Not at all." Doctor Fate put on a warm smile, but Raven knew that he felt obliged to help. "Come in. I'll make you some tea." Tea sounded good, it was something that Raven enjoyed. "Thank you, but do not feel obliged to help me. I don't want you to feel like you have no choice." Raven said. In her life, having a choice was the most important thing, the most significant thing. It wasn't all the time that one was given the options, but Raven believed that you should have that option.
As she entered, Raven looked around. The area looked nice, safe. Although the Titan suspected that there were probably charms around to keep the tower safe, although those might have had to be taken down to allow her inside. "Now then, what compelled you to seek me out?" "I'm having some... difficulties." [/b] The Titan said, it wasn't easy to talk about the difficulties. "My powers are influenced by my emotions. They come from my father, Trigon. And recently... it's been harder for me to keep my powers under control."[/b] The Titan tried to explain, before taking a sip of tea. "Thank you for the tea."[/b] She added. [/blockquote][/div] [/style]

Kent made no visible reaction. He had his suspicions. She had just confirmed them. There was no doubt about it, she was a powerful dark presence. "A daughter of Trigon..." he said. "As I suspected. Your power would be tied to your emotions. As one sired by Trigon, your power is influenced by your negative emotions. And I think I know the problem." It was something he had never seen in practice before, but he knew the theory. One of the many benefits of having an all-powerful sorcerer in one's head. He leant forward and put a hand to his stubbled chin, examining the one who sat before him.
"The problem isn't with your magic. It is with you." he said, not intending to sound offensive or blunt. "As a child of Trigon, you embody one of the sins of man. I'm assuming, judging by how you hold yourself, and your aura, that you are Pride." he elaborated. "Now, all the demon's children are under his sway. The fact that you managed to stay separate for this long is incredible, but it won't last much longer." he sat back, his form illuminated by the fire. "I'm sorry, but you are falling into Trigon's influence."

"A daughter of Trigon..." Raven wasn't sure whether that was good or bad and so the Titan remained silent, waiting to listen to what else the man may say. "As I suspected. Your power would be tied to your emotions. As one sired by Trigon, your power is influenced by your negative emotions. And I think I know the problem." Raven felt hope when he said that he thought he knew the problem, did that mean he knew the solution as well? The half demon certainly hoped so.
"The problem isn't with your magic. It is with you." It was blunt, but one way of looking at it. Still, Raven wanted to know if there was a reason why she was struggiling, if there was a cure, or any idea about what might happen in the future. "As a child of Trigon, you embody one of the sins of man. I'm assuming, judging by how you hold yourself, and your aura, that you are Pride." "Yes. The sin from which the others originate." [/b] Raven said, she hated emboding a sin, especially one where the others came from. It did not make life easy. "Now, all the demon's children are under his sway. The fact that you managed to stay separate for this long is incredible, but it won't last much longer." Raven's face went pale, her father was weak, besides, she thought that she had escaped his influence when she had first died. "I'm sorry, but you are falling into Trigon's influence.""No,"[/b] Raven said, worried. "Trigon is weak! I died and I thought that I had gotten rid of his influence! He still has been a problem but-"[/b] Raven stopped herself, she was panicking. That, was not good. Pausing, the Titan took in a quite but deep breath, focusing on expelling the emotions as the Monks of Azarath had taught her. To flush the emotions out, as if a beam of pure light was pushing it away and centering her. "There has to be a way of preventing this. Some way of getting around it."[/b] The teenager said, almost pleadingly. She had fought his influence before and still she was here. She had even been demonic more than once and she still was here as herself. The Titans had helped, though. "My friends have what they need if I must be killed."[/b] Raven said, her voice solomn. The least she could do was to make sure that Doctor Fate wouldn't be worried about what would happen when she did loose herself. [/blockquote][/div] [/style]

"What you say is true. Trigon has been weakened. But a demon that powerful cannot truly be destroyed." Kent said. "He is as darkness is to light. As chaos is to...you get the idea." Kent nodded. He didn't want to say "order". That would imply he had some weakness against Trigon. "I believe that there is a way to prevent such a change. And it won't involve your death." He was determined to avoid that, at any cost. "It will be difficult. Outwitting a demon such as Trigon is not easy. You will need help from many wizards. I'm hoping soul sacrifice won't be a part of it." He refused to spill any blood in the name of a demon.
"If this works, your friends will not have to kill you." he snapped his fingers, and a book zipped off a shelf and into his lap, opening on the necessary page. "There exists a ritual to conceal one's essence from any unearthly bodies. It's hard to pull off and success is not guaranteed. If it does work, you may be able to stave off Trigon's influence for just a short while longer. I have many contacts in the magical community who can provide help if you wish."

"What you say is true. Trigon has been weakened. But a demon that powerful cannot truly be destroyed." Raven knew this, but she had still hoped for more time, maybe a century. That way she wouldn't have to deal with his next attack. It was selfish but Raven hated time with her father's side of the family. "He is as darkness is to light. As chaos is to...you get the idea." Raven nodded. She understood her father, not that she wanted to.
"I believe that there is a way to prevent such a change. And it won't involve your death." So there was a silver linning, although Raven was willing to die to protect the world that had taken her in. "It will be difficult. Outwitting a demon such as Trigon is not easy. You will need help from many wizards. I'm hoping soul sacrifice won't be a part of it." "Thank you," [/b] Raven said softly. "I've met some who wouldn't want to help me because of my father."[/b] Raven took a sip of tea and then placed it back down on the saucer. "If this works, your friends will not have to kill you." "I imagine that they would prefer that."[/b] Raven commented. Especially if Beast Boy ended up getting involved. They still had feelings for each other and her friends were more like family. "There exists a ritual to conceal one's essence from any unearthly bodies. It's hard to pull off and success is not guaranteed. If it does work, you may be able to stave off Trigon's influence for just a short while longer. I have many contacts in the magical community who can provide help if you wish."Stave off... and only just for a short while longer. "How long is a short while and what does the ritual require?"[/b] Raven asked, she needed time to prepare if she was going to loose control. Even a small amount of time, but she did need to know how much of that time she would have. The Titan also knew the difficulties of rituals and would be willing to do all that she could to help. "I can do my best to help, although my magic may not be the sort that you need." Raven could perform rituals, but her magic came from her father and thus not likely to something that would help conceal her. But she had studied magic and knew her fair share. "You would be correct." Fate said. "This requires light magic. And there are very few of that kind of sorcerer left in the world. Only the light can dispel the dark, but others seek magic for destructive purposes." he said. "They make contracts with demons and wreak destruction on our world. This world's particular brand of magic cannot truly be used for evil." He snapped his fingers and the book zoomed back to the shelf, positioning itself perfectly on the shelf. "We can track them down, but there are not many powerful enough in Metropolis." True, Chinatown was the magic capital of Metropolis. There were many who knew magic, but they were too weak for this particular spell.
"It is possible that you can seek them out." he said. "If they know of what you truly are, they may be reluctant to help you, but they will aid you if you mention my name. They would not dare defy a Lord of Order. No living being would." He stood up. "This spell requires a lot of preparation. It's not something I can snap my fingers and do." Not him especially. Nabu could probably do it. After all, for a Lord of Order, anything was possible. But this was something he wanted to do himself.

An all powerful demon who had enough power to destroy this universe when at one of his weak points was not easy to hide from. Still, Raven hoped that she would have some chance. After all, she had escaped his influence before. "You would be correct." Some of the disadvantages of being half demonic. "This requires light magic. And there are very few of that kind of sorcerer left in the world. Only the light can dispel the dark, but others seek magic for destructive purposes. They make contracts with demons and wreak destruction on our world. This world's particular brand of magic cannot truly be used for evil."
It was difficult and Raven nodded, listening careful. Often the Titan wished that she had light, but the only light in her was the humanity which she clung to. "We can track them down, but there are not many powerful enough in Metropolis." "I am capable of teleporting, between dimensions and about 100 miles, if that helps. I can take others as well." [/b] Raven said. Although she doubted that he would be keen on that. Raven used her soul self for travel and that was another thing influenced by her father. "It is possible that you can seek them out. If they know of what you truly are, they may be reluctant to help you, but they will aid you if you mention my name. They would not dare defy a Lord of Order. No living being would."Raven wondered whether that could be considered a warning. Doctor Fate seemed nice enough, but it wouldn't be the first time that she had people take decisions based on her heritage. But he was helping and Raven decided to disregard it for now. "This spell requires a lot of preparation. It's not something I can snap my fingers and do.""Can you tell me what it involves?"[/b] Raven asked, curiously. The Titan loved to learn, hence one of the reasons she had ended up enrolling herself up into eduction. [/blockquote][/div] [/style]

"The ritual requires the heart of a demon's spawn. It must be the spawn of the demon one wants to conceal themselves from." Kent said. "Trigon is no fool. He has probably already found a way around this spell, so take caution when finding his spawn. That's all that I know." He had a feeling Nabu knew a little more. But he was afraid to use the helmet in front of Raven. What if Nabu misidentified her as an enemy and banished her from the tower, or worse? He didn't want the death of a potential ally to be on his hands. So he refrained from putting on the helmet for now. On the other hand....
"But there is a wizard who knows more." he said. "He's called Nabu. He's the wizard who instructed me. He lives at the top of this tower. Now, be warned. He may not take to you as well as I have. Nabu is a bit of a zealot when it comes to magic." It was true. The last time Nabu had been in control, he had nearly torn that cultist apart. "I will take you to see him, if you wish."

It must be the spawn of the demon one wants to conceal themselves from." Raven's face paled and worry went through her, the Titan only just managing to contain it. "Do you mean I will need to find one of my half-brothers and get his heart?" [/b] Raven asked, terrified. Last time her brothers had came she ended up going evil and had almost killed her sort of boyfriend, Beast Boy. Confronting them was not something she wanted to do, even if she was more powerful, being the sin from which they had originated. "Trigon is no fool. He has probably already found a way around this spell, so take caution when finding his spawn. That's all that I know." Raven would definitely prefer to not have to find Trigon's spawn. That in itself might turn her and prove to make the whole thing pointless. Then she sensed fear and Raven frowned. "What are you afraid of?"[/b] Raven asked. Being able to feel emotions meant that small changes alerted her to things and while she could sometimes trace things back to their origin, it was not the easiest. "But there is a wizard who knows more."At this, Raven cocked her head, interested. "He's called Nabu. He's the wizard who instructed me. He lives at the top of this tower. Now, be warned. He may not take to you as well as I have. Nabu is a bit of a zealot when it comes to magic." Raven considered this, she had coped with a lot and if she approached with the right attitude and politness she should be fine. Also, to not try and influence his emotions if things got angry. That hadn't gone to well when Sinestro had gotten angry at her. "I will take you to see him, if you wish.""If you think his help is needed, then I am fine and I will cope."[/b] Raven said, after some thought. [/blockquote][/div] [/style]

"Unfortunately, yes." Kent nodded. "This is a spell of great power. It requires something just as powerful as a tribute." He could remember when he saw Nabut perform the ritual in the olden days of Egypt. He had taken the heart of a demon, and he was invisible to the higher demons for a while. As he was Nabu, the ultimate sorcerer, he could sustain the spell for a month or so. But it wore off in the end, as a lot of spells tend to do.
"Come. I will take you to see him. If you will stand." Kent himself stood up. He half-closed his eyes, and slowly levitated towards the ceiling. This was just a bit of simple magic. He bet, as Trigon's first-born, even Raven could perform such a thing. He displayed no emotion. He didn't want to give away the truth. The truth that he was actually the host of Nabu, and this was his judgement of her as much as it was Nabu's. He had kept that fact from her deliberately. To them, Doctor Fate was just his circle name. They had no idea that Fate was something more than just a wizard who helped other wizards out.

"Unfortunately, yes." Raven shivered, she couldn't cope with facing her brothers, let alone getting one of their hearts. "This is a spell of great power. It requires something just as powerful as a tribute." "No, I can't. I can't face my half brothers. I would loose myself. Family outings are.. they are just..." [/b] Raven again was beginning to panick and she closed her eyes, trying to calm. Her emotions needed to be in order. For a quick few seconds she practiced the art of meditation to make sure that everything was fine. "I can't cope with them."[/b] She finished. The Titan remembered her thoughts and feelings when her brothers had been around and quickly dispelled them. She wasn't wrong, the evil was not who she was, this was not her disguise. I am me. Relax. Raven thought. "Come. I will take you to see him. If you will stand." With that, Raven stood up, pushing all her worries aside. They would not control her and she should be as polite and ready as possible when this other wizard appeared. Doctor Fate began to levitate (Raven could manage that with her flying) and Raven regarded the situation, emotions supressed. But Raven remained standing on the ground, as she had been told to do.
