Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

She almost felt wrong, as if she was tainting the atmosphere. But already something had been working at destroying the pure atmosphere. The cultists bellow. "You need not concern yourself. If I am to unleash my anger on the cultists, there is no need to waste it here. It's uncomfortable, perhaps, but you will be weakened because of it. That is a trade off that is not in our favor." Raven was not used to having her powers being relied on for a situations. But then again she was usually in a bigger group with all their collective skills. "Very well but I do not want to cause you discomfort. If it gets too much tell me." |
[/b] Raven told him. It was fair in her eyes that she should give up some of her comfort if he was giving up more. "I did not know you had that power. Yes, that would be an excellent way to get in close, with more surprise than if we were to just break in shooting, and less likely to harm the hostage." Raven nodded, deciding it would probably be a good idea to share more of her powers so as not to surprise Razer. "My attacks are likely to be in the form of a giant black bird. So don't be surprised if you see one of those."[/b] Raven told him. She didn't want him thinking that her soul-self was his enemy when conflict came. "If a password would prove to be an issue, then we can simply default to my plan." The Titan nodded in agreement. It was always good to have a back up plan. Silently, she followed closely behind Razer. It appeared that he was searching for something with his ring. The Titan doubted she would be of much help so instead she kept her attention on the emotions. There were none close to their locations, which was useful. It meant that they didn't have to fight. Razer lead them through the church until he eventually found a trap door. "Should I go on point? I don't know how strong your defenses are, but my constructs could take some damage. Or do you know what these cultists look like, so you could disguise us now?" Raven looked at Razer, trying to figure out what would be best. "If you want to lead, I'm fine. Although I would prefer it if I made sure you won't kill anyone and everyone."[/b] Raven informed him before crouching down to look at the trap door. Examining it, Raven assumed that now would be a good time to make the illusion. This was not as easy as she needed to focus on emotions that wanted them to remain undetected. Razer's emotions were not that helpful and so Raven guessed that she might have to feel. "The illusion may not be as useful as I had hoped. It focuses on emotions, such as wanting to remain hidden. If it working you should be able to see it."[/b] Raven told Razer, looking up. She was sort of trying to feel but that was dangerous.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Ich Bin Nicht Ich notes: None. Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

As Raven continues to try and worry over him, Razer gives a sigh. Her concern was gratifying, but it was not needed. He could take care of himself, but he didn't want her to worry needlessly. "Very well. I will tell you if there is anything I will have to use my ring to stop. I do not think it will come up, however. Without a reliable source of energy, it would be better to conserve my energy anyway."
That thought made him think back to his and Sinestro's arrangement. How would he take this little escapade? He hated having to justify his every action to the Green Lantern, just so he could get his required allotment of energy from his Red Power Battery. It made him feel weak, made him feel dependant. Razer did not like being either of those things. Being weak and dependent was what cost him everything.
As Raven explained more about her powers, Razer found the translated meaning of her name to be fitting. "Very well, I will be on the lookout for it, and not try and stop it with constructs. That makes things easier for me." He really didn't need to waste ring energy on the attacks from his ally. Not when it was already a precious commodity to him.
Her compunction against killing came up again, to Razer's annoyance. It was hard for him to wrap his mind around the fact that she valued the lives of murderers and kidnappers enough to want to take them in alive. In his book, they forfeited their rights to soft treatment when their crimes extended beyond simple matters of property, and became matters of pain and death. And yet, this woman who felt that emotion was wrong, wanted to protect such irrational people. Things truly were odd here on Earth.
"I don't plan on killing everyone. Just everyone except the girl. However...if your plan works out fine, then no one will die. It will be a simple insertion and extraction."
The explanation on how the illusion works proves more troublesome than he expected, though not completely unsalvageable. "I've certainly wanted to disappear more than once in my life. Would that kind of emotion work? Or is there something specific you need to feel in order for your powers to manifest? I know you have a compunction against emotions...I am the subject for them that makes the most sense..."

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] Looking at Razer, Raven wondered for a few seconds why he was on earth, it certainly seemed to be a popular destination to visit. But it would be impolite to ask about why he was here, especially when they had more important things to focus on. "Very well. I will tell you if there is anything I will have to use my ring to stop. I do not think it will come up, however. Without a reliable source of energy, it would be better to conserve my energy anyway." Giving a nod, the teenager turned her attention back to the task at hand. Working with new people was nothing new for Raven and there were always a few things that needed to be sorted out.
"Very well, I will be on the lookout for it, and not try and stop it with constructs. That makes things easier for me." The teenager was thoughtful for a second as she remembered what Green Lanterns could do, guessing that Razer's abilities would be the same or similar. But she already knew what attacks the cultists would have. Probably some magic and mostly hand-to-hand combat. "I don't plan on killing everyone. Just everyone except the girl. However...if your plan works out fine, then no one will die. It will be a simple insertion and extraction." Indigo eyes looked over to Razer. Raven's own mother had been in a cult before realising her mistake too late. "Some of them are not aware of the seriousness of their actions." |
[/b] The teenager told him softly, it wasn't arguing against him, simply pointing out a fact. "I've certainly wanted to disappear more than once in my life. Would that kind of emotion work? Or is there something specific you need to feel in order for your powers to manifest? I know you have a compunction against emotions...I am the subject for them that makes the most sense..." That was good, Raven though as he spoke the first sentence. "If you can feel the emotions your first spoke of, wanting to disappear, I should be able to use my powers to make it appear true to anyone who looks at us."[/b] Raven told him. The illusion would be seen by everyone, the cultists, Razer and Raven. For a second, Raven once again turned her attention to the emotions around her, trying to pinpoint all of them. It seemed that they were heading towards the single point of fear and panic. It was going to be a big event, Raven predicted. It would be bad if this was the final thing to bring Trigon through but Raven didn't think his power was great enough yet. It was most likely that this was going to be an important sacrifice - one that carried more weight to it. "They are gathering around the child."[/b] Raven informed Razer as she turned her attention back to the Lantern.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Ich Bin Nicht Ich notes: None. Raven's words stopped him, and made him think. It was probably what they were designed to do. His goal was to make sure that innocents could be spared the pain of loss that he had gone through, that made him who he is now. But...it was entirely possible that these cultists here had husbands or wives of their own...and in killing them, he was bereaving them, inflicting precisely the same situation he himself had gone through.
"Not aware of the seriousness of murder? Are there truly people such as this?"
As he spoke the words, he immediately regretted them. If this demon, Trigon, is anywhere near as strong as Atrocitus is, then he has the power to force people into his service. Such conscripts where why his revenge against the warlords of his home planet was kept to the leaders and elite guards: many of the soldiers they used for their wars were innocents. And it was clear Raven spoke from experience, perhaps she had been involved in something similar?
"I...I am sorry." He grumbles out, though it did not satisfy him. He had always believed empty words to be pointless. This mission was not simple enough that he could merely spread the murder to everyone in the cult, but the thought of letting the murderers go free rankled him to his core. He was a being of vengeance, it was what he was saved from his crushing despair and impotent anger to be. Letting people go who had caused a child to be without a father and mother...would be like letting go of the people who took Ilana from him. It was unthinkable...
Clearing his thoughts, he takes a breath. What matters most now is the child. The cult could wait...for now.
As Raven confirms that the emotion of "wanting to disappear" would be needed to progress into the catacombs, Razer calmed his anger, and focused on the root behind it. He went into his dreams, and how it would endlessly replay the scene that had been the lowest point in his life. He wanted to vanish...to cease to exist.
Needless to say, were it not for the innocent life on the line, he would never recall this scene willingly. It was repressed for a reason...it was the only emotion in him strong enough to truly overpower rage. He simply never gives it a chance too.
He sees himself beginning to fade into the darkness, and gives a nod to Raven. Hopefully, she would not be too overwhelmed by grief herself, he was serious when he said that no one should feel the way he does. However, she had made it clear she was willing to share his emotions if there was no alternative, and so he trusted her judgment.
After Raven explains the convergence of the cultists' emotions, he gives her a nod, and flips the trapdoor. "Then we have no time to waste."
The ladder present was rickety and old, but it served it's job well. Normally, he would light the way with his Red Power Ring, but he was worried that tapping into his rage would make it impossible to maintain the illusion, so he forced himself to navigate with nothing besides the dim light of the torches that hang on the walls. The catacombs smelled dank, cold and musty, a thoroughly unpleasant feeling for the alien more used to desert climates.
Moving forward, but keeping to the shadows, Razer looks around the corner, spying a pair of guards. Turning back to Raven, he whispers. "Well...looks like it's time to put your disguise to the test. After you?"
While he had agreed previously that he should lead, without his ring blazing, he would be no stronger than one without powers at all. And the grief that powered the illusion was needed more than the rage that powered his ring.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] It appeared that her words had made Razer think, the Titan noticed as he fell silent in response before speaking once more. "Not aware of the seriousness of murder? Are there truly people such as this?" That struck a little close to home for Raven. In her past she had killed, she could try to excuse it as being lost to her demonic heritage but she didn't. The Titan knew she could not be trusted. That was why her teammates had all that they needed to kill her although they did not seem willing to ever use it. Besides, Raven expected that the cultists viewed things in their own way. They probably thought that they were saving life by taking it. Thoughts could easily be warped.
Then there were cases like her mother who had joined and been offered up as brides. Some of the ones had went on to live normal lives before their mysterious deaths. Raven's own mother had tried to commit suicide and found solace in Azarath where Raven had been raised. "I...I am sorry." Raven knew he had regretted his earlier words, the emotional climate was constantly in shift around her and the teenager knew of the changes. "Don't be. There are many different cultures and I am sure that yours is different to mine. What helps is understanding. I believe that many of the cultists think that what they are doing is as right as we believe what we are doing is right. And some may even disagree with the death but consder that by raising Trigon they are doing more good." |
[/b] Being it a curse or an advantage of being an empath, Raven knew how her enemies felt. With that Raven waited patiently for Razer's emotions to change so the illusion would work. It appeared that the emotions stemmed from grief, an emotion that Raven had felt too often. But it was working, she could see both herself and Razer disappearing before their eyes. Still, it was not nice that Razer had to feel such emotions for the illusion to work and Raven wondered if his idea of a full frontal attack would have been kinder on his emotions. "Then we have no time to waste." With that, Raven followed Razer down the stairs, the teenager choosing to use the ladder instead of fly down. It was cold inside the underground tunnels and Raven cast a glance towards where she knew Razer would be. It was an automatic response as she couldn't see him due to the illusion. As Razer began to move, Raven followed his emotions, still using them to support the illusion. She supposed that she had an advantage of being able to tell where he was despite the illusion. But it didn't give her a good view in the dark and Raven relied on a hand on the wall to guide her. They were coming close to a presence. There were two people around a corner. "Well...looks like it's time to put your disguise to the test. After you?" "Very well."[/b] Raven said, carefully moving past Razer. There was the problem that the movement caused the air to stir and as she moved around the corner, Raven pulled her cloak around her and lifted herself an inch about the ground. Footsteps would be a give away. Moving forward, Raven prepared herself for using her soul-self for attack if they were spotted. She could absorb them into her soul-self before an alarm could be given - hopefully. It would just be preferable to pass them without any problem.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Various notes: None. Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

Nodding as his apology was accepted, his face tightens. He could understand their logic, twisted as it was by their devotion to this "Trigon." Atrocitus himself allowed some innocents to be sacrificed, for the greater good in his war against the Guardians. He didn't like seeing the shades of grey between the black and white that he preferred to look at the world with, believing that those who harm others are inherently wrong. It was another annoyance. And annoyances were not useful to him when he was trying to focus on grief.
"You...bring up an interesting point. One that I have had explained to me before. However...I find it very, very hard to empathize with those who would take from other people. And yet...on one hand, when I kill the people who have or are going to take from innocents, I am doing the same to others. However...not killing them makes me feel they are not being fully punished for the gravity of their crimes."
Looking back at where Raven was prior to the invisibility, Razer shakes his head. "It...is too much for me to think about at the moment. Perhaps when we are done, you could help me."
He could also get advice from Sinestro on the matter...but he still despised the Green Lantern, and did not want to humor him with such discussion and give him chances to belittle him. It would only lead to more annoyances.
Razer felt Raven leave the ground as she silently moved past the two guards, and Razer had to bite back a curse. In order to maintain the illusion, he had to feel the grief that was caused by Ilana's death. However, in order to match her flight, and more easily avoid detection by the guards, he would need to feel anger. The two emotions did not mix well, and it was only by focus that he was able to stay in the state of grief, and not naturally channel his loss into anger. To make matters worse, he had little experience moving silently, especially on natural rock instead of the stonework buildings in which he had lived in, or the desert sands.
Grimacing, Razer attempts to maintain silence as he moves, to uncertain success. The guards stand a bit more alert, moving around slightly. They heard him, but without anything obvious to see, it's rather difficult for them to pinpoint the exact location, especially with the slight echo present in the caves. After assuring themselves that it's just some vermin, Razer continues to move through the cave past them, though another problem quickly shows itself.
He doesn't know where he is going. He can't check his power ring without potentially compromising the illusion, and Raven is just as invisible as he is, so she cannot lead him by his sight alone. Speaking is out of the question, guards might hear him and raise an alarm. And the catacombs aren't linear in nature, he can't simply guess the right way to the central chamber. Razer feels stuck, he would normally abandon the pretense of subtlety and let his rage burn bright. However...he gave his word to Raven that he would let her attempt this first. And so, he simply sat down, trying to focus on the grief so Raven could maintain her own illusion, while trying to listen for rustling robes or the like.

"You...bring up an interesting point. One that I have had explained to me before. However...I find it very, very hard to empathize with those who would take from other people. And yet...on one hand, when I kill the people who have or are going to take from innocents, I am doing the same to others. "It...is too much for me to think about at the moment. Perhaps when we are done, you could help me."
"Of course. I would be happy to help." |
[/b] Raven had replied. Having not have moved that much, Razer had looked in her rough direction. But that was now in the past and Raven was now making her way past the guards. They didn't notice her presence as she passed them and after she was a few meters away, the teenager placed her feet down on the ground and turned to focus on Razer's emotions to see how he was faring. There were faint footsteps and Raven recalled that he seemed to need anger to fuel his powers - her illusions were keeping him from them. The guards' emotions changed, they were cautious now. Silently, the teenager prepared to send out her soul-self to stop them if they found Razer. But after a few words they had dismissed it as one of the many rats that lived down here and the Titan relaxed. Paying attention to the situation, Raven watched as Razer's grief filled emotions slipped past the guards and moved away from them. She was aware that he wouldn't be able to see her as well and when Razer stopped moving and sat down, the teenager moved over to him, still flying. They were within ear shot of the guards and so the quieter she could be the better. As she reached Razer, Raven slowly placed a hand on his shoulder. It would probably be best if she lead and they kept some form of contact; Raven thought. So far everything had been going well. But that couldn't last, Raven guessed, as she felt almost all the other emotions surround the child. They were feeling anticipation and greed. The child's fear was bright and strong and Raven had to concentrate to try and block the emotion from her. She needed to focus on Razer's emotions, she needed to maintain the illusion. It was still an emotional strain though. Focusing on grief and yet having fear pounding around her. The teenager's hand shook slightly. [/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Various notes: None. Razer did not respond to Raven's acceptance, the invisibility would render any nonverbal communication pointless, and words were cheap. Besides, he had to focus on maintaining the illusion, he had a job to do. If he was to be lost in these damnable caverns, he might as well maintain the illusion for Raven. Otherwise, he was less than useless, he was a liability. And he could not be a liability, not when the life an innocent was depending on him. And while he might prefer to try and rescue the child by charging down the gates, that would give them time to kill the child, in retaliation. Raven's plan was the correct one, as they had the advantage.
However, that was easier said than done. Maintaining the grief required him reliving the worst part of his entire life, over and over again. And while this felt like torture, he was choosing it. He was willingly putting himself through what felt like divine punishment to maintain Raven's illusion, and though he judged the cost a worthy trade for the innocent's life, he had underestimated just how long he would have to keep it going...have to continue to feel the way he did. He took a moment as he was seated to breathe slowly, both to steady himself, as well as bring up the memory more vividly in his mind. He did not want to grow apathetic, he imagined that would kill the illusion just as sure as his anger would.
His reverie did not last for long, he soon felt an invisible touch on his shoulder. He started for a moment, before he came to the obvious conclusion that it was Raven. Of course, a guide through physical contact made sense, as she knew the way they needed to go, and she could sense his own presence while he could not do the same. Looking up where she would be, based on the touch of her hand on his shoulder, he gives a nod, and stands up. With a guide, he could continue, and not have to worry about becoming lost.
Soon enough, though, Razer could feel Raven begin to tremble. It made sense, he supposed. Having to listen to and feel his grief, and potentially the undercurrent of anger he denied himself at present, the fear and horror at the situation that the victim was without a doubt undergoing, and, judging by who was correct about these cultists, either bloodlust, greed, anticipation, or abhorrence. It would likely prove more than he could bear, he admitted. He already found it difficult to feel rage and grief at once, and that was not nearly as powerful a separation as what Raven must be comprehending.
Trying to comfort the empath girl, Razer takes her hand in his own, and gives it a squeeze. She needed to think about the here and now, and even if it was difficult, try to restrain the disparate emotions that were assaulting her. It would be difficult, true...but his selfish side convinced himself it was no more difficult than seeing Ilana die before his eyes again, and again, and again.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] This was not an easy mission for Raven. The emotions seemed to be building towards a crushing climax, pressing in from every side as the walls and darkness seemed to be. If it had not been for her training to avoid feeling, Raven wondered if she would have been able to cope. Despite her best efforts to not feel, Raven was aware that guilt and regret were almost felt by her. It was her fault that Razer was going through the torturous emotions and even if she bore the pain as well it did not make the situation any better.
As she had placed a then un-trembling hand on his shoulder, the Titan realised that her touch make come as a shock but thankfully he did not respond with rageful emotions. Instead he had started but it appeared that he realised it was her and their journey could continue. As Razer stood, Raven moved back a bit, taking her hand down and waiting for a second, collecting herself. Now it would be her turn to lead. Then she had placed a hand on his shoulder and started to move along slightly, guiding him. It was difficult with them being unable to see each other but the Titan would do her best. When it came to corners she would place a hand on his arm and lightly pull to show which way.
But it had been then that the emotions peaked and her hand began to tremble. It wasn't long until her body also shook under the strain. There was grief, greed, fear, anticipation and all of these emotions were strong and blinding. It was impossible to try and dim them down, especially as she needed the grief to keep the illusion. It still felt cruel to make Razer go through such a thing. Feeling her breathing increase, Raven wondered if her body would possible go into a panic because of the emotional strain but she quickly mastered such negative thoughts and banished them.
Then she felt Razer take her hand and give it a squeeze and the empath steadied her breathing and gave a slight squeeze back in thanks. It was easier to remain focused with a physical presence, even if it made the emotional pain so much clearer. After this she would appologise to him for making him go through such emotions. He was kind and didn't deserve this. Leading on, not letting go of Razer's hand, they barely had to pause to let avoid any moving cultists and soon the cultists were all around the child apart from a few unmoving specks of emotions that Raven assumed must be the guards.
Stopping, Raven turned to look at where Razer must be. "They are all around the child now, apart from a few guards. It would be impossible to slip in and take the child without them noticing. I do not want to make you go through this grief any more. I... am not averse to going in and fighting if it suits you better. I would just ask that you try not to kill anyone." |
[/b] The Titan said, her voice a whisper. There were only a few meters away from the cultists now. "And thanks for your help. You have been most kind and considerate while I have not."[/b] Raven said. After all, he had controlled his emotions, gone through grief and comforted her. All Raven had did was plan on how to get the child away and to safety.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Celtic Music - Legends notes: None. Razer felt her steady up at his touch, and for that he was glad. It was good to feel that she was not lost to the whirling emotions that must surround her, good to see that she still had control. It was something he had valued in himself, though it was generally viewed as unneeded by other Red Lanterns. He was glad to help her maintain that control, an innocent's life depended on it.
Raven needn't have worried about his grief. He made sure to relive the moment occasionally, as painful as it was. It helped him to remember why he was filled with rage, why he desired vengeance. He had seen several of his brethren lose sight of their own goals, lose sight of such matters in Atrocitus' war with the guardians. He did not want it to happen to himself, and he felt that experiencing the grief made his rage all the more hot for it. In either case, it was a part of him, a part he could not deny, no matter how much he wished it had never happened to him. It would always haunt him...and if that was to be the case, then he might as well use it to his advantage. And this was as useful a purpose for his grief that he's ever had.
Razer was surprised, though, by her squeezing his hand back. He hadn't expected that, but he appreciated the gesture of thanks. What was more troublesome for him was how she continued to hold his hand as she pulled him along. Frankly, he was more comfortable with her hand on his shoulder. Holding onto his hand like this made it far closer to a gesture of affection than he was comfortable with, though if it was not the same on this planet, he could not really blame her. And it made sense, she could more easily lead him along in this way. He simply had to silence his reservations on the subject...he could wait until a more appropriate time to voice it.
As Raven stopped pulling on him, he slowed down and stopped behind her. Apparently, she found it safe to speak, as she explained to him the positions of their foes. Soon enough, Razer understood why it was safe to talk: All of the cultists were gathered up around the child, prepared to do the ritual sacrifice. As Raven admits that her plan had failed them, Razer gives a nod, though he holds the emotion further, until Raven gives him a signal.
"Very well, Raven. I...can accept that compromise as well." He was unsure how well he could stop from killing them, even without extra effort, he was far stronger than the average human, and his powers were not suited to restraint. Still...he would not use any powers of an obviously lethal nature, like his beams or plasma. And while he itched to destroy all of this scum...Raven had his word, and more than a small amount of respect from the Red Lantern. Anyone who could control emotions as well as she could, and yet still follow her beliefs was someone interesting to him. He wondered what could have prompted it from her.
Her next sentence, though, was even more of a surprise than the touch on his shoulder had been. "I...you overestimate me, Raven. I merely did what I had to do to help an innocent. Any sane person would do the same."
With a sigh, Razer allows the memories of Ilana to fade from him, becoming a part of his past once more. Soon enough, he expected that the disguise would fade, and then he'd have a fight on his hands. It would be a good thing, then, that to Razer, grief was naturally replaced by rage.

They cultists had not completed their ritual and even as they paused, she could feel the tension around her, building. Of course, she had been aware of Razer's unease as she had lead him by the hand and the Titan guessed she may have to explain it later. She had needed the contact to keep her focused. It had also been comforting to know that she was not alone and that someone else would be there to help her face the cultists.
The ritual was beginning, the half-demon could feel the change around her; the darker side starting to feel the pull. This sacrifice would be to her father and at times, his power had been hers. "Very well, Raven. I...can accept that compromise as well." Again another thing that Razer was doing for her while Raven did nothing on her part. The teenager was glad that he was willing to agree to her terms although she wondered if it would be better for him to try and have things his way. Even if only slightly.
Taking in a breath, Raven attempted to center herself before the conflict. Already the emotions around her were taking their toll but she needed to be able to cope in the heat of battle. "I...you overestimate me, Raven. I merely did what I had to do to help an innocent. Any sane person would do the same." The teenager looked over at Razer as he spoke again. "Still, some are not to compromising and thoughtful. I have often had to deal with emotions that no one would reign in, even when asked. And I understand that you want what you view as vengeance. I do not believe that I have overestimated you." |
[/b] The Titan said, relaxing as she felt the grief around her start to disappear. With that, the illusion disappeared and Raven could see Razer with her own eyes instead of her ability to sense emotions. The teenager had her hood up and it shaded her face even more in the dark light that came from the flames of the torches. The sound of chanting then reached her ears and Raven guessed action would be needed soon. "Do you want to both teleport in right now or shall I teleport in and remove the child while you come in from the tunnel. It's a straight path from now on."[/b] Raven said, looking down the tunnel from which the chanting was coming from.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Celtic Music - Legends notes: None. Razer gives a grunt in response to her words. If she wanted to compliment him for some reason, then he wasn't going to stop her, even if he didn't believe it in the slightest. It...felt nice to hear her say that, but he didn't put much stock in it. And the fact that he took relief from unearned praise was another bother on his mind, one he did not have time to deal with at present.
In a way, he almost felt guilty. He had worked even harder at controlling his anger, so that Sinestro would have less ammunition to throw at him. But his ring made that task exceedingly difficult, and encountering one who had such control as Raven...made him feel both jealous and weak. And while jealousy was vulgar, he at least could tolerate it, use it. Feeling weak, though, threatened to bring grief back down on him. He had never wanted to feel weak again, though circumstances conspired against him time and time again.
As Raven explained to him the situation, and possible plans, of attack, Razer stops to think. "I believe it would be best if I were to go in as a distraction, and after moving their attention, you could teleport in and free the child. That should lessen the amount of risk to the victim."
The only problem with his plan was how valuable the sacrifice was to the cultists. Letting himself be known was a good way to get the hostage killed, unless they needed him alive longer for their rite. In any case, it would be up to Raven to decide. She had the power to do either, and he would merely be along for the ride. Just as he had for this entire mission. Then again, Raven had been the one to suggest the option, so he didn't expect it to be an issue. Obviously, they had until the rite was completed before harm would come to the child. Though whether that would hold when their lives were in danger....that, he did not know.
Razer allows his anger to come back to the forefront of his mind, and his ring grows bright in response to that. His costume, dull from lack of input, begins to glow a deep, pulsing red, illuminating the cave. That would probably give away their position fairly easily, but stealth was no longer an option. Taking off, he flies towards the group of cultists, whip construct in hand. With a lash, he knocks one of the cult members into a wall. He didn't allow it to fire force behind it like it normally did, as that would be almost assuredly lethal. However, the cultists turned, shocked at the noise, and Razer had made himself completely known. Their attention was on him, now. Raven could hopefully make her move without trouble.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] It was now up to Razer to make the final decision on what would happen and Raven cautiously waited, keeping her attention on the emotions around her but trying not to let them overwhelm her. She was aware of the faint jealousy inside Razer although she had no idea from what it stemmed from. But there was little time to spend focused on his feelings when the excitment of the cult was growing louder as was their chanting. Along with that the fear shone brighter as well, nearly as strong as the collected emotions of the cult.
"I believe it would be best if I were to go in as a distraction, and after moving their attention, you could teleport in and free the child. That should lessen the amount of risk to the victim." Raven nodded, the idea worked. The cultists did not know anything of Razer, they might view him as an ally or consider him no match for their numbers. "There are many of them although I cannot give you an exact number." |
[/b] Raven informed the Lantern. All the emotions from the cult were beginning to roll into one. Then the emotions shifted around her and Raven felt Razer's rage begin as a red glow lit the room. They would take action soon. Then Razer was flying off and Raven waited until he had arrived before teleporting behind the child. Grabbing the trembiling being, Raven had the element of suprise and all it took was sending her soul-self out to cut the rope that held the child before the teleported away. Despite her speed she was noticed by one cultist who recognised her. "The daughter of Tr-" He was cut off before he could complete his sentence, engulfed in Raven's dark soul-self. Appearing at a local police station, Raven hurriedly handed the child over to the police, briefly explaining the situation and adress of the child's parents as well as handing in the cultist she had absorbed before teleporting back in. Suprisingly her teleporting had not set off any alarm but Raven supposed that was because of her demonic heritage. Casting her glance around, Raven searched for Razer, attempting to make sure that she was not recognised. Sending her soul-self out, the dark bird grabbed cultists in its taloons and dark embrace, leaving them worse for wear but still alive. As soon as she could find Razer she could teleport them both out. [/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Celtic Music - Legends notes: None. When the additional combatants had first entered the fray, they had been confident. Now, that he had been fighting them, they were much less so. His whip, the construct he had the greatest success with behind his sword and shield, and markedly less lethal, struck true time and time again, felling the cultists with his Red Power Ring. Most of them only had basic weapons at their disposal, and he had been able to keep them out of the useful range of them with a ten-foot range lash. Occasionally, he had to watch out for the few among them with actual power, magic spells without a doubt bestowed upon them by the god the kidnapped child was to be sacrificed to appease. These varied wildly in strength, from ones so weak they just shattered against his powered costume, to ones he needed to break off the attack and focus on a barrier to prevent from killing him.
However, as soon as one of these spells died down, Razer took a chance to see Raven's progress. He was fortunate, then, as he saw Raven appear beside the child. His eyes widened as a cultist saw her, and was about to come to her aid, before the black bird she had talked about engulfed the man, and she was able to successfully flee the scene. With that settled, he turned back to the cultists, and lowered the barrier. Now that the child was out of the way, he didn't have to bother with making sure their attention was focused in his direction. He could get in close to them, and turn this into a brawl. The chaotic nature of the brawl was in his favor, as it allowed him to control the fight, since the crowd all wanted to take him down. Most cultists went down with one good punch, almost none could take two. And while the majority were simply knocked unconscious or otherwise incapacitated,, the impacts a few had on the cave wall, when they smacked the rock head-first, made him pretty sure that they weren't getting up again, though he didn't know how durable humans were. Raven would probably be less than pleased when it was all over.
On the other end of the crowd, Razer saw Raven reappear, and he fought to reconvene with her. With the mission done, the best thing to do would be to simply escape, before they could be caught off guard by a spell, felled by chance. The crowd continued to get in his way, which increased steadily his impatience, before it rose to a fever pitch.
"Enough!" He snarls, and his ring bursts to life. Forming two solid barriers in the middle, he pushes them both aside, forcing the cultists out of the way. Flying over to Raven, and taking out one last cultist on his way over, he turns to his ally. "Shall we be gone? I believe we have overstayed our welcome here."

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] The fight was wild and Raven was aware that sending out her soul-self left her body open for attack. But it moved quickly and when an attack was aimed her way, it took little thought for Raven to call her soul back and to form a dark shield around her. Some of the cultists were dead, Raven had seen the bodies as her soul and flown around. But the Titan felt no emotion - although she would prefer no deaths. But now her appearance had been noticed and there were still a few who recognised her.
With any luck, her presence fighting them would discourage them from their cause but it appeared that luck was no on their side as they pressed on with their attack. Again Raven sent out her soul-self, the hatred and darkness of her soul having no trouble against the cultists. "A demon is here!" One shouted, throwing a knife towards Raven which skimmed over her arm and drew blood. The teenager clasped the wound, although she knew it would heal soon. Where was Razer? Was he faring well against the enemies that he now fought? Finally she spied him at the other end of the of the cave.
The teenager wanted to teleport to his side but the cultists demanded attention and she again had to send her soul-self out to deal with the attacks that came her way. "Why do you fight us?" Asked a young and miss lead member and Raven spared him the full blow of her soul-self, simple, picking him up and dropping him. He would suffer a broken arm but he would recover. The teenager was not going to let anyone die. Looking around her, Raven had no time to teleport as she had to defend herself from another few attacks. "Enough!" The Titan looked up as Razer spoke, using the distraction to snare a few more of their enemies.
Rage had filled the room as Raven took her actions and taken slightly off guard, the Titan's attack was more dangerous than it should have been, those ensnared in her attack suffering several injured before the teenager recalled her soul. Indigo eyes took in the construct that Razer had made and the cultists being pushed aside. It was a relief and the teenager gave a sigh, letting go of the wound that had cut that she had received on the arm. It was already well on the way to healing. "Shall we be gone? I believe we have overstayed our welcome here." "Then I would be prepared for the cold." |
[/b] Raven informed him, remembering his earlier words about the temperature. With that, the teenager teleported back to Titans Tower. It was somewhere that she knew was safe and fairly distanced from the emotions. Appearing on the island, Raven sat down on a rock, allowing herself a moment of respite. "Thank you for your help. If you need anything like food or drink, I can give you some. If you need any accommodation, Titans Tower has plenty of spare rooms. There's also a Living Room which is a nice place to sit and talk. Or if you wish to leave as soon as possible I can teleport you somewhere"[/b] She offered, kindly. Raven remembered that Razer had said that maybe Raven could help him when it came to killing and thus taking people from innocents. [/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: None notes: Tired.
