Welcome
It all started when a crystal dropped into existence, punched a hole in time and space and landed into the lap of one the most insane men to ever walk the Earth.
At first, the clown didn't know what he had been gifted with, stuck in his cell in Arkham, staring at the reddish purple crystal laying innocently on the dirty stone floor.
And then the voices started, telling him of another universe, talking of power and chaos beyond what he could have ever dreamed.

Razer saw Raven get injured by the blade, which only hastened his desire to get out of here. While he did not expect that they could overpower him, Raven was not so lucky. Just like him, Raven was unable to use both attack and defense at once, and unlike him, Raven wasn't able to maintain a force field around himself at all times. She was much more easily overrun than he is, in that sense. She was fighting well, that he could not deny. The shade that she projected was monstrous, devouring the opponents, and spitting them back out injured, but alive. It was obvious she was a very powerful individual. However...the numbers they faced here and the terrain were both inconvenient for a large fight. Raven had issues maintaining her defense, and he had a power ring that was ticking down.
One cultist's words he managed to catch withing the cacophany. Some foolish cultist claimed that a demon was present. He looked around, before being sure that there was no new beast entering the fray. It was probably a hyperbole, something to explain their power. Certainly, he could see why someone would call his or Raven's powers demonic. However, when the people have gathered to summon a demon, you would think that they would be more appropriate with their wording.
As he crossed the room to assist her, Razer nodded. Cold would be annoying, but tolerable. Especially since he allowed himself a forcefield now, one that kept him at a comfortable temperature. While it was possible that he would feel it anyway, it was like if he had those flames he used to dissipate the effect on all the time. And even if he could not, it was what needed to be done. They were being overwhelmed here, he could not hold them off without killing them forever.
Soon enough, the cold wash of the raven spirit descended over him, kept at bay by his power ring. The next thing he saw, was a view from an island of the city he had been fighting in only moments ago, safe and away from the cultists. Turning back, he saw a building reflected in the water, designed to resemble an oversized "T" character, which he found puzzling. Such a design would make the structure top-heavy, and thus, without an inordinately secure foundation, dangerous. However, he was sure it served some purpose, and that it was perfectly safe. Otherwise, Raven would not have brought him to it.
Finding Raven perched atop a rock in a meditative pose. Sitting down on the ground near her, Razer allows the ring's power to fade from him. Only enough burns to keep his blood circulating, the rest, including his costume, all vanish. Hearing her speak, Razer listens in.
"I don't need to eat, my species has adaptations that allow me to go for weeks or longer without food. And the offer of accommodation, while generous, I am dubious of. There must be others living in that building...and I doubt they would appreciate having me share their living space. There is nowhere I need to be immediately, unless you could track specific people's location, it would be easier to fly. And as for sitting and talking...I find this place suited fine to that."

Emotions had been flung around her and she had been called a 'demon'. Raven did not like her heritage. Despite being trained to be emotionless there had been one emotion that she had felt: hatred for her father. That sort of emotion stuck around. Had Razer heard the words that the cultist had announced? Would he figure out that the cultist was talking about her. Had he heard the early one (who Raven had silenced) who nearly announced the presence of the daughter of Trigon?
Pushing such thoughts aside, Raven focused. It was a lot easier to heal herself out here. Despite the distance from others, she could feel the general emotions of the city and it was hope, a positive emotion. That she could use to help heal herself at an even faster rate. The cut had stopped bleeding and was knitting itself back together. Slowly enough that one would not notice but it would be gone in hours at the most.
Raven turned to look at Razer who was now sitting. Listening to his words, Raven realised it must be useful to not have to eat often. "Titans Tower is empty most of the time. Those who would use it have other homes which they stay in. I am the only one permanently living here." |
Raven explained. She was still searching for a school that would have accommodation and so she stayed in Titans Tower. At one point she had tried an apartment but she simply did not have the money for the rent. Here it was free and so a lot easier. Razer had said that he was fine with sitting and talking and Raven came out of her meditative pose and moved so she was facing Razer and her position was more relaxed. "If you prefer we can sit inside, I can probably make it warmer than outside." She suggested, not wanting to put Razer through any discomforts. The Titan was fairly adaptable with temperature, whether it was cold or hot. It seemed that Razer preferred heat. There was no need to leave her hood up and Raven took it down. It wasn't like she had a secret identity at the moment. "You avoided getting any injury from the fight?" Raven checked, she didn't sense any pain from Razer but it was a good idea to make sure that he was unharmed. Razer nods as Raven explains the nature of Titans Tower's standard occupation rate, or lack thereof. "And by offering, I suppose you are not adverse to me staying there? I don't want to accept charity...if you feel like you owe me for what happened back there or anything foolish like that, you can forget about it." His words were harsher than he intended, but it came out in a mixture of not wanting to impose, combined with annoyance at how he couldn't save the child alone. While he was glad he met Raven, and that they were able to rescue the victim successfully, he couldn't help but fee like he wasn't up to the task.
Razer didn't mind the cooler temperature here. It wasn't intolerably cold, like Raven's teleportation, or even uncomfortably cold, like the dank cave had been. But he admit, it was still inclement weather by his standards, and he would gladly accept her offer if he didn't feel like he was in her debt to some degree for helping her protect the child.
"....If you insist. I might take you up on the offer for the room, so it only makes sense to see what you are offering." He gives, as an excuse. He doesn't want to seem too eager...but the idea of a warmer room does seem very enticing.
As Raven asked if he had been injured during the fight with the cultists, Razer gives a smirk. "None of them had the strength or skill required to land a hit on me. A fact that I am thankful for." Moving in a bit closer, Razer tries to find a wound on Raven. He thought he saw blood when a knife was thrown at her, but he couldn't be sure. "And yourself? Were you injured?"

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] Watching Razer, the Titan was emotionless as she waited for a response from the Lantern. "And by offering, I suppose you are not adverse to me staying there? I don't want to accept charity...if you feel like you owe me for what happened back there or anything foolish like that, you can forget about it." The words sounded harsh and Raven paid attention to the emotions as well. "I'm not adverse to you staying. You don't appear to be from earth and if you do not have anywhere to stay, it makes sense to offer you a place here. It's not charity, its merely being polite. The Tower could do with more use, anyway." |
Raven explained. There were many rooms in the tower; Game Rooms, Training Rooms, the Living Room, they even had a swimming pool. There were a lot of things that Raven did not use and would probably fare well from some use. Most of the tower had been in disrepair but the teenager had fixed quite a lot of things. Even if she didn't use them. Raven could tell that her offer of somewhere warmer had caught Razer's attention. "....If you insist. I might take you up on the offer for the room, so it only makes sense to see what you are offering." Raven nodded, and walked towards Titans Tower, opening the door. "Come in. I'll adjust the temperature so it's hotter in the Living Room where we can talk. If you choose to stay then you can raise the temperature where-ever you need it." The Titan said, leading the way towards the Living Room. "None of them had the strength or skill required to land a hit on me. A fact that I am thankful for." Raven glanced back at Razer and nodded, glad that he was unharmed. She would have felt responsible if he had but it would not have been a problem as she could have taken on the pain. "And yourself? Were you injured?" Glancing down at where the knife had cut her, Raven looked at the cut which was barely noticeable apart. There was a cut through her glove but one would not notice the injury unless looking for it. "I was cut but that was nothing serious. I'm already healing. It's nearly gone." Raven explained. The living room was high up in the building and they would need to take an elevator to get there. Raven also knew that the heating took some time to start up. "Excuse me for a second, I'll just sort out the heating in the Living Room." Raven explained before teleporting away and turning the heating on and putting it on the highest temperature before teleporting back to Razer. Being able to teleport did come in useful.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Folk notes: None Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style]

Razer follows her inside the oddly-designed Titans Tower. Her words made sense, in a fashion, though he was unsure whether or not it was the best course of action. Sinestro had told him to observe the planet, and while this...socialization...might be a step towards that, it would establish within him a base of operations...somewhere it would be difficult to head to the other side of the world. Previously, he had simply taken shelter in caves or the like, always on the move, and even before he met Sinestro, he had simply found a nearby habitable planet to sleep before continuing his hunt for Green Lanterns. Having a....a home...wasn't something he had thought about, or had since before the ring had chosen him.
After Razer had informed her of his lack of injury, he returned the question. He had seen a knife fly at her, but wanted to be sure nothing was the matter. She did not move like she had an injury, but she might merely be hiding it well, treating pain like an emotion to be suppressed. He relaxed slightly as she revealed that the cut wasn't serious, and that it was already healing. It seemed she had some kind of regeneration factor. That sounded like a handy thing in a fight, and for lesser injuries would make up for the lack of defense she might have when she took to combat.
"Ah. That is good to hear. I was afraid you were more seriously injured. I saw the blade fly, and it looked like it had scored a hit."
As he follows her into the building, he already feels more comfortable. Despite what the glass might imply, the building felt well-insulated, and the temperature was at least five degrees warmer than it had been in the San Francisco mist. And while he still had reservations about the whole matter...he began looking at it optimistically. This could all turn out...okay. He would cease to need to use ring energy to warm and protect him when he slept in inclement weather, and Raven's abilities would doubtless come in handy if any major crimes were committed. The pros outweighed the cons, in this case.
"I...will more than likely take you up on your offer. It's...very generous of you."
When she vanished from the elevator to switch on the heating system, Razer waited until the conveyance brought him up to the to. It wasn't all that slow, but it was an annoyance to have to wait. Despite that, what awaited him at the top was certainly pleasant. The temperature was enjoyable, and the heater took out the unpleasant humidity that seemed to permeate the city. The living room itself was well-furnished, with couches and chairs lined up, all positioned towards a large screen, probably for a dual use of entertainment and for disseminating information. It had a useful array of amenities, which made it the obvious hub of activity on the structure.
"I can see why you recommended this room to me. It is indeed well suited to the task." Thinking of how best to continue the conversation, Razer pondered that fact. He was slighlty curious about one thing. "Have you encountered that cult before? It seems like you have some history with it." She had recognized the ritual used to kill the child's mother and father, and had been apprehensive to encounter them. That had piqued his curiosity.

After all that Razer had done to help, the Titan wanted to make sure that he would be comfortable. "I...will more than likely take you up on your offer. It's...very generous of you." Raven thought about his earlier words - the teenager did not think that she was being generous. It was simple kindness and it was nothing compared to the help that Razer had offered, especially when it came to controlling his rage and going through the grief, all to save the child.
Pausing, the Titan looked down as she thought about how dangerous it was that the cultists were starting again. If they were trying to help her father rise she would need to take actions. But maybe their attack would be enough to keep Brother Blood at bay. Raven certainly did not enjoy the history that she had with the cult. Teleporting back to Razer, the teenager arrived only seconds before the elevator came to the Living Room. The change in temperature was more apparent to Raven as she felt the temperature in the elevator and then the room as the door opened.
Looking at the Lantern, Raven tried to decipher whether the temperature was right for him. It seemed that was the case and Raven lead the way into the Living Room. It was vast compared to other Living Rooms; when Cyborg had made it, he spared no expense. There were all the requirements that teenage heroes needed, whether it was games or equipment for saving the world. But that was not the important thing to Raven - to her it was home. A place of safety and respite. True, there had been arguments but every family had arguments.
"I couldn't get the temperature any higher but if you stay I'm sure the systems can be modified if you prefer. The Living Room doesn't have that much allowance for temperature change. The private rooms have wider range in temperatures that can be set." |
Raven said. The Living Room was the center where everyone met and they had to keep it so the temperature was pleasant for everyone to avoid arguments. While in places like the individuals, like the bedrooms, were much more changeable. There had been a lot of designs to avoid arguments. "I can see why you recommended this room to me. It is indeed well suited to the task."Well, that seemed like a positive. The Titan went to sit on a sofa. The temperature was of little bother to Raven who was used to various extreme temperatures whether it was cold or hot. "Have you encountered that cult before? It seems like you have some history with it." Raven didn't answer immediately, instead looking out the window, considering how to answer. "The Titans - the group that used to live here - have had dealings with them before." Raven said slowly. "Although the dealings have often been centered around me." Indigo eyes flickered to Razer as Raven still considered how much she should say. She guessed she did owe Razer the truth. It was polite and he deserved the truth. "Brother Blood has wanted me for his bride on more than one occasion. Due to my... family links." Raven explained, turning her attention to the healed arm, staring at the torn fabric. Being the daughter of their worshiped demon seemed to make her desirable. Or maybe it was because her demonic side could be unleashed. But Raven would deny them and fight. It came to Raven's mind that she could try and change the topic bu it was only fair to allow him to ask any more questions. "It is fine. This is more than adequate...it is quite comfortable. What setting did you place it on? If possible, I would have it at this setting in my room." Razer didn't even bother implying that he might not stay anymore. It was comfortable, he enjoyed Raven's company, and it would be easier on his ring. The only issue remaining was if Sinestro liked the idea, but that shouldn't be all that hard to sort out. The Green Lantern was an ass, but he believes that the chance for socialization fits in line with his goals.
Razer was glad to see that Raven did not look uncomfortable in the heated room. He would probably insist that the temperature be lowered in that case, and that would be an annoyance, and probably get him into another argument with her. She seemed to value his wants more than he valued them himself. He was used to being deprived of things, and he knew how to make sacrifices. Judging by her reactions to the events of the day, she was as well. Razer takes a seat near her on the couch, and listens to her explanation. He admits, it wasn't something that he expected.
"And....I assume you were a member of these...Teen Titans? And...used to live here....Were they killed in combat? Or did the group simply dissolve?" Razer asks, before they hit the meat of the explanation. "Brother....Blood. I take it he is the leader of this cult? And the family links in question are ties between you and the demon he worships. Yes, I can see how he might value that."
Razer wasn't really shocked at the revelation as most people might be. Maybe it was because he didn't truly understand what "Demon" meant, having it be referred to his master, Atrocitus, on a common basis. He didn't have the connotation that many would have. In addition, he had no history, no knowledge of Trigon's actions, as others might have. To them, the cult was just a bunch of madmen who were endangering others. And to think less of Raven because she was connected to it as well, despite the aid she had given him...that was folly.
"And this desire for your hand in marriage has led to much conflict between you and him, then. You oppose the demon they venerate. And he wishes to control you, to use you as a puppet. I can see how this conflict arises."
However, he can see that the current conversation is bothering her, so he changes the subject voluntarily. He makes a note that she does not takes some measure of shame in her heritage, a choice he accepts, even if he does not understand. "So...this group, the Teen Titans...what is their role? And why would they leave the building without any occupiers, aside from yourself? Do they only meet here when a threat arises, or do they have civilian lives they maintain on occassion?"

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] Within the Tower was a nice place to be for Raven and she felt more relaxed. On occasion she wondered whether she was allowed to enjoy being inside Titans Tower. After all, it was almost an emotion. No matter what the temperature, no matter who the company was; Titans Towerwas home. Another plus, the present company had proved to be kind and considerate. "It is fine. This is more than adequate...it is quite comfortable. What setting did you place it on? If possible, I would have it at this setting in my room." Raven wondered if Razer was just saying that to not be a bother but she decided to take it as the truth.
"I've got it on the highest temperature the Living Room can have. Your room will be able to have this temperature with ease. There are plenty of spare rooms. So you can have your pick." |
Raven said. Whether he preferred to have a room up high or low, it was fine. One of the many advantages of living in a virtually empty tower. Then the topic moved onto how Raven knew so much about the cult. "And....I assume you were a member of these...Teen Titans? And...used to live here....Were they killed in combat? Or did the group simply dissolve?" Thankfully it wasn't his first thought, not completely at least. "Yes, I was a Teen Titan. And some did die in combat but most of us are alive. Moved on to other teams and such. I have been trying to get them back but they do have their own homes and lives." That was why they didn't stay in the Tower, or so Raven told herself. "Brother....Blood. I take it he is the leader of this cult? And the family links in question are ties between you and the demon he worships. Yes, I can see how he might value that." Raven nodded as Razer figured out who Brother Blood was and the family ties. "Trigon is my father, yes." Raven explained although she did not go any further. Her heritage was not something that Raven was proud of; it made her life difficult. There were the emotions that she forbade herself in order to avoid loosing herself to her demonic side. The Pride that she had within her. Being half demon was difficult enough but being a sin did not make that easier. Looking down at her blue boots, the teenager brushed her raven black hair out of her face as she studied the colour in depth. Often the teenager knew that rejection would come, when she first came to earth the Justice League had denied her seek for help. It was a fact that some could not bring themselves to accept a demon and Raven understood them well. While there had been others who tried accepted her and for that Raven was glad. While she may have a demonic side there was also her humanity that she treasured and viewed as the goodness within her. "And this desire for your hand in marriage has led to much conflict between you and him, then. You oppose the demon they venerate. And he wishes to control you, to use you as a puppet. I can see how this conflict arises."Raven nodded, looking up at Razer. So it seemed that he was not one of those who could not stand the presence of someone related to a demon. "It has not been good but thankfully it is not a continuous conflict. There are moments when Brother Blood fades back into memory." Raven said, remembering the various different times that Brother Blood had tried to claim her. Once he had manipulated her and another time it was their church that had brought her back to life. It had been the Titans who had saved her then. "So...this group, the Teen Titans...what is their role? And why would they leave the building without any occupiers, aside from yourself? Do they only meet here when a threat arises, or do they have civilian lives they maintain on occasion?"There were plenty of questions aimed towards her but Raven had not forgotten that Razer had asked for possible help about his issue with taking revenge on murders but taking those lives away from others who were innocents. "The Teen Titans act as a younger version of the Justice League. They are teenage heroes trying to escape the control of their mentors on most occasions. They used to live in the tower but now most have grown up. Or they have homes that they would rather remain in. School to attend." Raven said, she did miss having the company. Despite the strain of negative emotions, emotions (when positive) could be very nice. "Feel free to talk about anything that you want. Earlier you spoke of having a problem with how to deal with people and the loss that others will suffer, was it?" Raven said lightly, leaving it open for him to simply ignore. There were things about Razer that interested the teenager, like his grief and the rage that she had felt him feeling when she first saw him. As Raven explained that the temperature was something he could extend to his future room, Razer gave an appreciative nod. He would need to make sure Rachel remained unbothered by it, but otherwise, it would be the best thing for him. As it was, he would be more than content. Her deviating from her own comfort enough to give him this didn't sit well with him, but he didn't fight anymore. It would only lead to arguments he did not want to debate right now. And, since Raven had not raised any signs of an objection, he simply let it go.
With the choice of room up to him, Razer shrugs. "One on this floor, within close distance of the Living Room and elevator would be preferable. If there is one with a window large enough for me to fly out of, even better. Is there something like that?" It made the most sense, and other than that, he had no preference. He didn't know exactly how much free space the tower held, but if it was anything like what Raven described, there might be one that fits those criteria.
Razer gave a grunt at her explanation of what became of the Teen Titans. It made sense to him that many would return to their civilian roles when not in a time of crisis, but that they would all leave? And that they would leave Raven alone in an empty tower? That didn't sit right with him. "Perhaps...you could tell me about these Teen Titans sometime. But...if they are all gone, then why do you stay here? Or do you simply not have a home to go back to?" With her family, he did not know how close the "links" were, being related to a demon, it made some sense that she would not have close relations. If the cult was willing to kill two parents to get a child sacrifice, what they would do to control a family directly connected to the demon...well, it spoke for itself.
Razer was slightly surprised when Raven revealed how closely she and the demon Trigon were connected. He had expected it to be a mere tainting of bloodline back a long time ago, not something that had such a degree of closeness. "Hmm. I must say, you don't look much like the demon I know. He's a lot more...red." She had certainly looked human to him...though judging by her powers, it was fairly clear she was more than she had seemed. And with that context, her conflict with Brother Blood made all the more sense.
As Raven talked more about the Teen Titans, he could somewhat understand their decision to leave them alone. While it was odd that they were all gone, he could understand how it was theoretically possible. "I cannot say I do not empathize with that desire. My....mentor...is quite obnoxious, and if it were possible, I would have nothing further to do with him. However...it is not possible, not at present." If he wanted to cut ties, Sinestro would do so gladly...and leave him to die as his ring drained itself, and became unable to pump his blood.
As Raven brought up his words back in the cave, he rubbed his forehead. Talking about that would be hard, and would probably involve bringing up painful memories. But...but it was something he had to solve, or Sinestro's words would not stop buzzing around in his mind. "If you want something, it cannot interfere with what it is you stand for." Only finding the answer would stop him from being affected by this infernal self-doubt.
"Yes, I did. And do. When I see someone hurt by someone else, hurt deeply, it reminds me of a great loss in my life, perpetrated at the hands of a criminal. I remember wanting to kill the person, wanting to get vengeance. The ring I wear on my finger responded to that, and feeds me the power to enact that vengeance."
Simple enough so far. But the next part was what confounded him. "However...if these people, these criminals, also have people close to them....I cannot take my vengeance upon them, not without bereaving those innocents, and becoming that which I despise more than anything else. It is a quandary I have yet to solve."

Her father's realm (which she had visited on more than one occasion) was terrible hot. Maybe it was her demon blood that allowed her to not be that bothered by the heat or the cold. "One on this floor, within close distance of the Living Room and elevator would be preferable. If there is one with a window large enough for me to fly out of, even better. Is there something like that?" Thoughtfully, Raven went through all the rooms on the levels around the Living room. That was just one up and one bellow if she remembered correctly.
"A lot of the windows allow flying out. There should be rooms that are only a few meters from the elevator and that will only be a few seconds of a journey to get in here." |
Raven said. The teenager had her room near the Living Room but mainly because it was useful when meditating. And it was further from most of the other rooms that had been occupied. "Perhaps...you could tell me about these Teen Titans sometime. But...if they are all gone, then why do you stay here? Or do you simply not have a home to go back to?""I don't have anywhere to go. I don't really have any family on earth other than the Titans. But they have lives to live and families to be with." Maybe they would move back into the Tower at some point, maybe not. "If they did return, I doubt they'd mind your presence." Raven said, in case Razer was concerned that they might return and he would have to leave. Then as she mentioned that her father was Trigon, Raven felt Razer's surprise. It didn't seem that bad though. Not hatred or distrust. "Hmm. I must say, you don't look much like the demon I know. He's a lot more...red." So is Trigon Raven thought. "I can... flip out and then I look more demonic. Redish orange skin, four eyes... That is why I was taught by the monks of Azarath to control my emotions." Raven said, her voice soft. The Titan hoped that she would not 'flip out' again, not allow Pride get the better of her. The topic moved back to the Titans and mentors, leaving Raven to relax slightly; it was an easier topic to talk about. The raven haired teenager frowned as Razer said this, it didn't sound goof for him to be unable to leave. "Why can't you leave him? Would he be annoyed with you and try to get you to come back?" Raven asked, going from experience that the Titans had in the past. When Raven was being resurrected the Titans faced that sort of problem and Kory had reacted very protectively of the current members and their choice to stay with the team. Then they moved on to talk about Razer's conundrum. "Yes, I did. And do. When I see someone hurt by someone else, hurt deeply, it reminds me of a great loss in my life, perpetrated at the hands of a criminal. I remember wanting to kill the person, wanting to get vengeance. The ring I wear on my finger responded to that, and feeds me the power to enact that vengeance."So far it made sense, Raven thought. Vengence was something that was commonly found. The teenager had seen it on earth. "However...if these people, these criminals, also have people close to them....I cannot take my vengeance upon them, not without bereaving those innocents, and becoming that which I despise more than anything else. It is a quandary I have yet to solve." The Titan was thoughtful as she considered this. Most criminals must have family, Raven thought. There were those like Deathstroke who had children such as Ravager and Jericho. "I've never thought about it. The simplest answer is not to kill. Or to just go with what the law says. There will always be people devistated by the loss of those they hold close but if they are being punished for a crime that they have been proven to commit... I imagine it would make it easier. Otherwise it might appear as an injustice. And it is when things appear as an injustice that it can be worse." Raven said, thoughtfully. The teenager did not stick around to feel the emotions of the family and friends of the criminals. "Some are glad when their family are put away for the crimes that have been commited." Raven added, remembering Deathstroke and his children.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Celtic Music - Legends notes: None Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style]

Seeing that she was able to fit all of his desires, Razer smiles slightly, something he did not do often at all. If he was thinking about it, it would feel wrong to him. But it was merely a show of gratitude, one he hadn't had a chance to use in a very long time. "Thank you. That sounds perfect." She seemed like she had a few in mind, and would check them out later himself. As for now, he was still very curious about the girl in front of him.
As she explained the fact that she had nowhere to go, in comparison to the other members of his team, Razer gives a grunt. It made sense, but that did not make it sit any easier with him. "Well...if that's the case, then I suppose it all makes sense. Still, you would think they would regret leaving you all alone. I am glad to see that you seem to be doing well enough for yourself...and for others."
Razer gave a short chuckle as Raven insisted he would be accepted by returning members of the team. "I suppose that would be up to them, wouldn't it? I'll need to wait and see what they have to say before making a judgment one way or the other. I can only hope that they have not had prior experience with my kind...most are not as calm as I am." He could only imagine what would happen if they did. Befouling their clothing was one possibility, despite that being mainly the purview of the Yellow spectrum, his kind were excellent at spreading fear. Anyone who had survived an encounter with one would not be happy to see another.
As the conversation drifted back to the demons, Razer noticed her voice had become less animated, if such a thing were possible. It makes her seem less completely in control. The transformation she described certainly seems like it would be more similar to Atrocitus, though he couldn't quite picture it well. He certainly hoped he would never need to see it. It certainly explains why controlling her emotions would be necessary, and why she was so good at it. It also made him feel even guiltier about the emotions he was broadcasting...though since she didn't mention it for a while, she must be able to tune him out.
As their talks continued, she had picked up on an erroneous tidbit he had let slip. Palming his forehead, he sighs. "It is fairly embarrassing for me. One of my enemies, a Green Lantern, defeated me, and now holds my Red Power Battery hostage. I apparently need to 'prove myself worthy' of it. And he has been aggravatingly unspecific regarding what that means. Meanwhile, I'm essentially a slave to him, as a result of this blackmail. Without my battery I will die within hours of my ring running out of power. I am essentially a hostage on this planet." Razer's words allowed venom to leak out from them, he felt little besides distaste and aggravation towards the Green Lantern, Sinestro.
As Raven explained her ideas to resolve his dilemma, he pondered the rule of law. On his planet, the law was whatever the warlord who ruled this land today said it was, it was constantly shifting and rarely if ever enforced. On this more orderly planet, the humans had their own system of punishment. Perhaps he would give that a try. Having to incapacitate the criminals without killing them was more difficult, but it would be useful, if only as a test case.
"I...can see how that would be a good compromise. Since they are human crimes...humans should decide it. I will keep your thought in mind...it makes a good deal of sense."
Raven's last line caught him by surprise. He thought about prying, but thought better of it. While asking would cost him little, he did not want to delve back into uncomfortable territory, not while things were still tinged with the talk of her heritage, something she had every right to be distasteful of. He did not want to push their newfound friendship...it felt to him fragile enough as it was, without extra stress placed on it.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] The present company was nice and Raven found herself realising that she had missed having others around to talk to. As Razer smiled at Raven's words about the rooms, she tried to offer a small smile in return. It was easy to forget about smiling without the Teen Titans to respond to. It was something she had done on occasion in the past. "Thank you. That sounds perfect." Nodding, Raven thought about the different rooms that fitted the criteria. "You can look at them all and take your pick although they all look the same." |
Raven said. "And feel free to decorate your room however you prefer." Each teenager hero who had taken a room made it obviously there's. Talk of the Teen Titans was easy for Raven, the second version was something that she had brought together to fight her father. Ever since then she had rarely been apart from the team although there had been a few times when she was unable to be part of the team. "Well...if that's the case, then I suppose it all makes sense. Still, you would think they would regret leaving you all alone. I am glad to see that you seem to be doing well enough for yourself...and for others." Raven shrugged, she never gave it much thought. "They were disbanded but while I'm trying to get them together again I see no reason why they should not enjoy the comforts of their homes." As Razer chuckled, Raven wondered what she had said that had as funny. "I suppose that would be up to them, wouldn't it? I'll need to wait and see what they have to say before making a judgment one way or the other. I can only hope that they have not had prior experience with my kind...most are not as calm as I am." The idea of the Teen Titans being against someone because of their kind was not something that Raven deemed a problem. After all, they accepted a half-demon who's father was pretty much Satan. "They wouldn't make judgments based off what your 'kind' is like." The Titan said, softly. The topic of her heritage was not one what Raven was proud of. It was difficult knowing that her father (and brothers) were all dark and intent on ruling the earth. Or maybe the harder thing was knowing at times, when she flipped out, she agreed with them. It was difficult knowing that she had the potential to be as dark as her demonic family. One thing caught her attention; Razer's guilt. It appeared only as she had spoken about her need to control her emotions to avoid becoming demonic. "Why do you feel guilt? There is no need." Raven said, aware of the change and having no idea why it should have happened. I am essentially a hostage on this planet."Listening, Raven frowned, wondering who would think it was fine to basically enslave someone. It was not right in her view. Although as far as she was aware none of the Green Lanterns were like that. The ones in the Justice League certainly wouldn't allow it. "It isn't right for you to be a slave, or essentially a slave." The teenager said as she considered his position. "And you saved a child today, that has to stand for something." She added. The teenager wondered if she would be able to convince the Green Lantern to be nice to Razer. There had to be some way to help him out. The threat of death without his Power Battery was worrying as well. Moving on to Razer's conundrum, the Titan listened to his reply to her suggestion. "I...can see how that would be a good compromise. Since they are human crimes...humans should decide it. I will keep your thought in mind...it makes a good deal of sense." That would work, although she supposed it wasn't universal but if Razer knew what was considered justice on each planet he was on, then it would hopefully work. "We have training rooms if you ever want to train and I can always accompany you if you want to deal with any situation that involves conflict." Raven offered. After all, she often traveled around, attempting to keep everyone safe and face criminals. Having company would be welcome.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Various notes: None Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style]

Razer noticed her smiling, and was slightly surprised. He had not seen her smile at all, not even the smirks he would occassionally give. Then, he noticed he was smiling as well, and that surprised him even more. He was unused to company, but he found himself slipping back into the social niceties fairly easily. He was surprised by himself...he did not think that it was possible for him.
"I doubt I will, but I will keep that in mind. I am used to a spartan existence, and I have no possessions of my own. I thank you for the freedom, in any case." Freedom was not something he was used to, and security even less.
As Raven stressed that she did not begrudge the Titans for leaving her alone, Razer dropped the point. If she did not mind, then he could hardly bring up the issue. While he did not think it was fair for her, most people who undergo hardship in life quickly learn that life is unfair by nature. Besides, she didn't seem to mind the lack of company all that much, or if she did, it didn't pierce her control over her emotions. He found it hard to tell, when he suppressed emotions, it was obvious. She simply seemed like a blank slate, she was impossible to read.
When Raven brings up the guilt he felt over forcing her to experience emotion that was painful to her, he stares at her for a moment, making sure she was serious. She didn't seem the type to joke, but it still made very little sense to him. "Because my emotions could turn you into something you despise. Before, I merely thought it was a bother to you. Now I know it could be exceedingly dangerous. I don't know how far you need to be pushed in order to reach that state, but influencing it can only be a bad thing. And it should be something I avoid later on, if possible." That was another sticking point. His ring fed on rage...and it brought out more and more of it as it was used. It wasn't a clear-cut thing...the only thing he could think of to compromise was to work harder to suppress his emotions normally, and hope that when it spiked, she could handle it.
Razer knew he was giving a biased perspective. It had been well within the Green Lantern's purview to simply kill him...he was a foe, and their respective corps were, as always, at war. Still...it made him mad. He couldn't just die in battle, as he would normally do if he was beaten, no, he was forced to deny himself and put on a show of a good little servant. "Whether it is right or not has nothing to do with it. Whoever has power makes the rules. Sinestro knows that better than most Green Lanterns I have met." That had been impressed on him throughout his life, as the warlords had oppressed his people since his birth. "I can only help that it would. He would probably claim that I scared it during the course of the rescue, and it will grow into a criminal itself from how destructive a sight death can be." Razer lets out a sigh. He could hear Sinestro now.
Raven's offer of the training rooms and company was welcome. He wasn't sure how much he could make use of the training rooms without a steady supply of power for when his skills would need to be tested in reality, but the offer of help was one he felt much more confident in accepting. "If you are indisposed at the time, I would be thankful for the assistance. I wouldn't mind working with you again." Not the most glowing praise, but from a Red Lantern, much more than could be expected.

[atrb=border,0,true][style=width:430; height:490; background-color:000000; padding:5; text-align:justify; font-family:verdana; font-size:11px; color:78747F; overflow:auto][style=float:left; margin-right:10px] Razer's company was definitely welcomed by Raven. It was not often that she had others to talk to, instead often remaining part of the background. It was only now that she was beginning to realise that she had missed out by keeping away from emotions. "I doubt I will, but I will keep that in mind. I am used to a spartan existence, and I have no possessions of my own. I thank you for the freedom, in any case." The Titan nodded, wondering if Razer even had money to purchase things to put in his room. "If you want to buy things to put in I'm sure I could find some money." |
Raven offered. Her own room was full of mystical objects and books as well as various things to help with meditation. It was fair that Razer had the same opportunity. There was a slight silence, Raven noticed as the topic of the Teen Titans was dropped. She wondered if it was done to spare her any feelings, after all the topic could be considered difficult. It might appear that she had been left by her team. But Raven didn't view it like that. The team was family but they had their own family to look after. She could not begrudge them that. When there was a pause after Raven's question about Razer's guilt, she also noticed that. It was often that Raven pointed out emotions, even if it was believed that they were best left silent. As en empath she knew that having feelings out in the open could often be for the best. "Because my emotions could turn you into something you despise. Before, I merely thought it was a bother to you. Now I know it could be exceedingly dangerous. I don't know how far you need to be pushed in order to reach that state, but influencing it can only be a bad thing. And it should be something I avoid later on, if possible." Raven considered this, the emotions she felt around her could be difficult but would they be enough to turn her? "I think it is my own feelings that cause my flip outs. Besides, you'll know if your emotions get too much for me. I wouldn't let them become a danger. And... if they got too much during battle my powers actually might be enhanced. My soul-self is... it becomes stronger under emotions." Raven said, still emotionless but trying to ease Razer's guilt. It was true what she said, when Raven was pressed by emotions or her demonic heritage her powers could become rather devastating. As long as she kept enough control so she didn't kill anyone it was OK. The subject of Razer's problem with the Green Lantern was interesting. The Titan did want to figure out if she could help Razer, there had to be some way. "Whether it is right or not has nothing to do with it. Whoever has power makes the rules. Sinestro knows that better than most Green Lanterns I have met." Sinestro... Raven frowned again, she knew Sinestro and he had seemed perfectly nice to her. But if he was blackmailing Razer... that was not good at all. The teenager's face hardened as she considered this. "It isn't all about who has the power. Those with power should respect the rules. After all, it always seems that there will be one with more power. Or a group." The teenager wondered if she would see Sinestro any time soon. If she did, then she was going to try and convince him that he should give Razer back his Power Battery. All politely of course. As far as she was aware, Sinestro had no reason to blackmail Razer. "I can only help that it would. He would probably claim that I scared it during the course of the rescue, and it will grow into a criminal itself from how destructive a sight death can be." Well, Raven had an answer to that as well. "The child was more afraid of the cultists and when they were distracted it brought some relief. If anyone were to influence the child towards a path of crime it would be the cultists and I do not believe that the child will become a criminal." She answered with certainty. "If you are indisposed at the time, I would be thankful for the assistance. I wouldn't mind working with you again." Raven nodded, most of the time she was facing crime anyway. It was something that she could feel disturbing the emotions. "I spend most of my time facing crime anyway. Often I can sense it as it plays out." Raven said, knowing that she had identified plenty of crimes in the past by the emotions that were given off.[/style] tags:Razer word count: ??? muse: Various notes: None Table Layout By BRY, 2012[/style]

Razer gave a grunt in response to that offer. "I am not going to take your money for something as frivolous as decoration. I am already imposing upon you. In any case, I doubt there is anything I would want to buy. As long as it is warm and dry, it would be an improvement upon where I normally sleep." He was used to sleeping on foreign planets, in caves, wherever was convenient. He would be hard pressed to find a room in the tower more uncomfortable than those.
Raven's explanation seemed unusual to him, seemed vaguer than he would have liked. She wasn't completely sure, and that left room for danger. However, the fact that Raven could tell if things were becoming danger was a relief, as was the fact that it could make her stronger. "Very well. If you don't think it will prove a problem, then I will not concern myself with it." That was probably untrue, but it was easier if he said he wouldn't. Otherwise, she would probably argue more about it.
Razer thought he could see a flash of recognition on Raven's face as he mentioned the name of his blackmailer. He found that unusual, but not out of the realm of possibility. While Sinestro was not human, he would have to have been here on more than one occasion in order to know that it would be a good place to confine him. It wasn't impossible that he knew Raven, if that was the case.
In fact, a small part of him wondered if the reason for imprisoning him here was in part due to people like Raven. If there were many of these humans gifted with supernatural power, then he could probably be stopped with much less time to commit collateral damage than if he had been on a planet without such amenities. It was less secure than he assumed Oa would be, but he had basically seen fit to allow him to roam the planet free, aside from his battery. He wasn't sure why he gave him the illusion of freedom, but it allowed him to feel less pathetic about everything. He could bide his time, and wait. And get some measure of vengeance while he waited.
"Well, in this instance, I suppose I am thankful he did not follow the rules. If he had, I would either be dead, or imprisoned on Oa. My time here, at least, can have a purpose."
While he had mostly been sarcastic when he had recited his opinion on what Sinestro would have said, it was slightly heartening that Raven was on his side, despite her compunctions against killing. However, he wasn't completely sure. "I hope he will not hold anger in his heart with the loss of his parents...but I cannot fault him for it if he does. I...will trust in your words, though."
Further explanation of Raven's abilities only made him more pleased that he was working with her. The sensors his ring could make were useful, but they were far from perfect. They could only detect rage...and only from fighting range. And while that was indeed helpful, it was not foolproof, and far from what Raven could do. "That sounds quite useful indeed...it must come in handy quite often. I take it that was how you were able to find the crime scene....and me?"
